    Stupidest fucking booking imaginable.

    - build moose as a second world champion for almost a year...
    - declare his belt as the second world title...
    - have him lose a unification bout 3 weeks later to Rich Swann...
    - Swann is gonna drop the title to Omega in a month...

    what the fuck.

Swann should have lost to Omega. Then Moose’s TNA title is proclaimed the current world title because Kenny won’t defend. Down the line you have Moose win the Impact title back from Kenny in a champion vs champion match THIS WAS SO FUCKING EASY HOW DID THEY FUCKING MISS

They should have consulted the booker of the year.

Absolutely this. Very correct. It is like Impact is hoping AEW buys them and just letting them do whatever. I don't see the pay off for how this will play out.

Has AEW bought any other promotions or made any suggestions about wanting to purchase other organizations already? Seems like a stretch but I've heard several fans talk about this. I don't follow enough of the dirt to know if there are serious talks about AEW buying Impact. I just assumed it was just like any other time Impact has worked with a promotion. A little rub here, a little rub there. All these promotions, including AEW, are just so small that it doesn't really come across as anything major. But that's just me.

So, how is Rebellion shaping up? I don't currently have access to Impact because of my house move, but will do soon. I see that Omega and Swann is the main event.

Never ordered a TNA/Impact PPV before, but I could be tempted by this one.

    Anyone been watching?

I've actually not been watching since the last PPV...the booking pissed me off that much.

I hear that Impact has been great the last few weeks. I wasn't particularly impressed with the show I watched (No Surrender) but the weekly shows sound like a lot of fun. Might be hard to tolerate Matt Striker though. Presumably Kenny will win it all at Rebellion. Then what?

    Ha, a mixed bag then!

I should be able to catch the last episode or 2 of Impact! before the PPV, so.

    You say that but...

I have just found out after a little looking (noticed it wasnt in my recordings) impact in the UK is now exclusively on impact plus through the fight app, As far as I can tell the weekly show is free so you will just need the app but will need to sign up for a fite account I guess.?

Lucky for me my brothers got all the wrestling shows on his fite account

I think we're going to see Swann be a man and actually have some dignity, flex his global status and get the result between him & Omega to be like a draw, DQ, or No contest. Impact have gained literally nothing from this, it's pretty sad. But that's just the way shit goes sometimes. Just because a band still tours doesn't mean they're the shit.

Swann jobs to Omega, Omega isn't jobbing to anyone. If I'm Omega, I'd put the Mega, AEW, and Impact titles on the line against Cody. Cody wins them all, then one by one puts over someone in AAA, then someone in Impact, then he'll eventually drop the AEW title to someone of worth. But he has to do it as a heel-win the belts, turn into a prick.

So Omega can have someone else do 3 jobs where he only had to do 1 and look sweet doing it. 2 Sweet.

Ooh, interesting. I have the Fife tv app, as that's what I use for AEW PPVs.

    Awesome.

The UK rights for impact have been a hit potato the last couple of years

I use the app for Dynamite as well, But god damn how do ITV still have the rights to that ffs.

Can't wait for Omega to win the unified TNA Impact title, that won't bury their talent at all.

They should have just let Moose keep his belt.

Not going to lie, I'm sick of the endless 5 and 6 way X-Division matches with the same people. Maybe it's just me, but I would much rather see a series of singles matches (for example):

    Chris Bey vs. Trey Miguel
    Trey Miguel vs. Josh Alexander
    Josh Alexander vs. Chris Bey
and then a Triple Threat (a la Styles/Daniels/Joe)

Then, when we eventually got a Chris Bey vs. Rohit Raju it wouldn't feel like I've been strapped into a chair in a darkened room and forced to watch the same match 56 times in a row

This has always been an issue with the x division. They always jam and cram these guys into multi-man matches

I don't watch Impact but I saw activity so I was curious.

I have to agree that if it's the same people over and over it gets stale.

No, just a regular match. I don't watch a lot of non-WWE stuff so it's always cool when I come across things like this.

I misunderstood your post. I thought you were watching NXT In Your House and were making a joke calling NXT "Impact" It kind of looks like the last few years of Impact in terms of people like Kross, Grimes, LA Knight, MSK, etc. being on the show.

Chelsea Green showed up at Slammiversary to tag with her fiance Matt Cardona against Brian Meyers and Tenile Dashwood.

No Way Jose (just listed as No Way) is teaming with Fallah Bay in the 4 way tag match.

I expect Mickie James to be the mystery opponent for Deonna Purazzo.

They are on AXS tv on Thursdays. I watch sometimes but not always.

That would be wild. I'm kind of over every single person who's ever been on WWE tv in the last 25 years showing up in AEW. Let's have Impact get some love, like when the Good Bros signed to Impact. That was huge for the company imo.

Is this Option C thing like money in the bank where people usually win if they give up the title they have? I'd like to see Josh Alexander as impact champion.

Yes. He deserves it and Christian’s role was to get the beltt off Omega

It's a shame that they used Christian, a nobody at this stage in his career, to transition the title back to Impact to another absolute nobody. What a remarkable relationship AEW and Impact formed, so many people benefitted it's insane how well Impact is doing now.

I'm watching the Impact channel. Had to tune in when I heard Raven's name...it's an episode from the Serotonin days. Dope shit. Scott Steiner just told Christian: "do I look like Quasi Moto? Do you think I can read the future?!" Cooler than anything I've seen in AEdub, but only because the House of Black tag the other night underdelivered.

Abyss just ridiculously black-hole slammed SoCal Val. She landed half on her shoulder, half on her neck. Woman is the wonder of the world. Surprised I've never seen that bump on IG before.

Chris Sabin is in a bathrobe in Jim Cornette's office. Bob Backlund is there.

Unfortunately, Bobby Roode just came out, followed by Eric Young, that Storm guy from AMW, and Petey Williams, but Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt are out there, so I'm intersted. Bobby Roode dove head first on a tornado-ddt. Unreal. Sonjay takes the pin way too soon. Fuck that.

Christian would have been a perfect GM; he's tall and a good character, but he's too works-in-tall-buildings to buy as a heel champion of the company.
Abyss with the TCM vibes. Great drama. On this night anyways...

Clips of Homicide juicing D-Von with a pizza-cutter. Sharkboy seemed to still be around. Hernandez in his prime.

Sting doing his 'Choose the Light, Abyss' video-package. I've heard this feud was insufferable, but they probably did it all for this one video-package. I've never heard Sting this into his mic work. 'Twas superb.

Main-event is TOMKO, Christian, and Steiner vs Angle, Joe, and Rhino, and it's awesomely impactful - everyone is on point. I really like serious face Angle in TNA, but not really anywhere else. Joe is insanely good in this. It's awesome seeing Rhino and BPP on opposite sides in a main event. Rhino is the power behind Goldberg. I'll take a Gore over a spear anyday. Always have. Abyss shows up for the 4th time tonght and ends a match that didn't need a clean finish. Sting shows up and starts teleporting. Show closes while Sting and Abuss start trading fisticuffs.

Basically, AEW is ever satisfying, but they need the Briscoes if they wanna go balls to the wall, which is probably what CYN is gonna do. Good wrestling is great, but classic wrestling is basically incomprehensible. Like, I can't remember who used to sit through this stuff, but all you heard was how over the top it was. Over the top is wholly satisfying though.

Anyone seen Bill Casey lately? He's been on a long-ass hiatus.

So I swear I can just start a St. Louis wrestling thread. Had no idea how many shows are going on around here all the time.

Anyway just stumbled across a show that is taking place in a couple weekends at a theater across the street my from son's school downtown in the grand arts district.

This show has Davey Richards, Moose, Josh Alexander, Tennille Dashwood, Kalisto(forgot what he goes by now), Alex Shelly, and of course some of the local talent like Dan the Dad(still love this gimmick) and Tootie Lynn. Meet and greet before the show with a lot of them. Not bad ticket prices and meet and greet prices.

I could spend a small fortune on shows around here.

Put this in the Impact thread since I am mentioning Impact wrestlers coming to town.

Thanks. I was typing things off the top of my head after finding information about the show and drew a blank on the name.

General admission tickets are not bad and neither are the meet and greet prices.

I didn't know Tom Philips and Aiden English were doing commentary for Impact now. That's a considerable step-up from Josh Matthews. Striker and D'Lo seemed fine, but I like this pairing from what I've heard.

English has been there for a quite a while now. He wrestled at first and then moved to commentary. Phillips has not been there as long but yeah he went there after being released from WWE. I don't watch much Impact. Just here and there but I do like that combo.

Josh Matthews had to go. Tom Phillips is really good. The only problem I have with Aiden English is that he sounds like Disco Inferno meets Kermit the Frog. I don't remember much of his WWE commentary (I think he was doing 205 Live) but he seems decent. Striker and D-Lo were solid. Didn't Pope do some commentary with Matthews for a little while? The last 5-6 years kind of blurs together with the booth for me.

Josh was unbearable and was such a deterrent.

Only $10 on Fite TV. I think if you join the $5 tier of their YouTube you can also watch it but the wording is confusing. There's also the Impact Plus thing for $7.99 a month where you can watch past shows too.

I might end up watching this before UFC starts at least. Pretty stacked card for their roster. I'm happy Jonah is out for a while. I never liked him as Bronson Reed and I don't give a shit about him as Jonah either.

    Give The Briscoes the belts.

I do think Cass will be back in WWE, as he's shown he's taken control of his life. I'm not sure how Enzo has been, but I wouldn't mind if he didn't come back to WWE

It was a stupid decision because Cass wasn't ready at all. He still wouldn't thrive. He's all size and that's it. He's still Test 2.0

Enzo thrived, made CW division seem relevant. But I loved them as a team and if they do ever return to the WWE I would love them as a unit and not solo. Enzo isn't that good of a worker, he can bump but everything else looks like shit. But dude is fire on the mic, one of the best in years.

Josh Alexander is injured and having surgery so he is vacating the title.

So husband and wife are the champs over at Impact. Two people that the WWE wasn't sure what to do with.

I mean it's Impact. Did you really expect the WWE to put the World title on Forgotten Son #2? I'll be honest I have no idea why you're even mentioning the WWE.

Not everyone is going to be world championship material, or main event material. Glad they found success outside the WWE world though.

I was never impressed by either of them in WWE, so I can only hope they've been more than meh in Impact to be championship material.

Well it was more about his wife who I think is great and WWE literally did nothing with her and she even tried pitching ideas.

As far as Maclin. Forgotten Sons should have had a good run as a tag team on main roster but yeah we know what happened. Yeah he would have not been a world champ in WWE but he should have had a better run.

She is great. I love watching her matches. She pretty much did nothing in her short time in NXT and they used her as enhancement talent on a few occassions. So yeah didn't really get to see what she could be in the WWE.

She has been the Knockouts champ a few times now. She was also ROH champ for a bit and AAA champ for a while and at different times held 2 of those 3 at the same time.

She could easily be in the mix in the women's division in the WWE.

So could a lot of women. I'm a huge fan of every promotion you just mentioned but if we put on our WWE hat you can see why being ROH/AAA/Impact champion doesn't mean you're ready for the WWE. I will say this, I do agree with you that she's someone I could've seen doing bigger things. I actually saw her live in Des Moines in 2019 I think she jobbed to Asuka on Raw. I had seen her a few times prior and obviously since. She's someone I feel like could wind up in WWE again look at Chelsea Green.

Personally I was not a fan of Forgotten Sons, at least the cast. I actually like Gunner/Ryker and his finisher was dope. IDC about his politics until it becomes a real problem. He shares the same beliefs as many and he's a veteran. I loved that part of the gimmick, I just didn't care for Blake and Cutler. They looked like shit compared to Ryker. They're better off forgotten no pun intended. But this guy was such a "nobody" that he could come back under a different gimmick and nobody would notice.

I've watched Impact a few times this year, maybe a grand total of 10-12 hours of it. It's a far different program than it was ten years back. I don't know that Impact success will translate to WWE success, but good for the ones there doing more than just being filler talent. Feels like the audience attendance is similar to that of MLW which is a huge step down from what Impact used to be. I'm just glad they seem to have ditched the WWE shit talk.

How many former TNA/Impact wrestlers have even been through the WWE? I'm not nitpicking so if you say AJ Styles or Samoa Joe, I won't be like "Well they had matches on Velocity!" But the list is super small. When you think of the last 15 World champions in that company, how many that weren't former WWE/WCW wrestlers have been in WWE? Styles, Joe, Roode. Not Aldis, not Moose, not Richards or Edwards. They took Bully Ray and made him rock the glasses and camo again lol.

I have seen her live as well. She is ready for WWE. I would like to see her back in WWE at some point. Not sure how interested she is in going back after her frustrating experience but never say never.

Forgotten Sons grew on me. Was not really big on any of them at first but started to like them before they went to Smackdown. They were a solid team. Maclin is making a name for himself at Impact and the indies. People would notice. Not the casual fans that forgot he was there previously but I am sure the WWE would mention his history at some point. To be honest glad he is getting some success but yeah I am more interested in his wife.

If they were smart the WWE wouldn't mention anything about his past. IF he were to come back I'd bring him through NXT with a different name, maybe carry over what he's been doing that's getting over on the indies to the big stage, see if that translates.

Purrazzo, imo, suffered from the panic over the pandemic. I know the rumor is that WWE didn't feel she was TV ready, that's a real thing. Working for promotions that have tv deals v. working for the WWE=not the same at all. There's a reason you see guys like Nakamura or even Adam Cole not going to TV immediately. It's like going from Broadway to Hollywood. Purrazzo could definitely find her way back if she wants to. Had she came in 2 years prior to 2 years later she'd be a threat in NXT at the very least.

Impact's current form is IMO pretty close to a pure wrestling show. I'll still catch myself calling it TNA, but not as much as I used to. It's crazy to to think how much has happened w/ the promotion that wouldn't die. It used to be the next cliffside down from WWE, where stars go when there's nowhere else to go. Now it's become a massive breeding ground for future stars.

Scott D'Amore is doing a wonderful job.

I mean... they turned Josh Alexander into one of the most sympathetic champions in the last 20 years. His elevation at Impact is the stuff of legends.

ok so people who haven't really done anything of worth outside of the small Impact bubble. It'll be interesting to see how some of these wrestlers pan out and how much we can water down the term "future star". I was actually thinking you were going to maybe mention Wes or Trevor Lee due to their quasi-success in WWE/NXT. Or maybe even LA Knight.

So yeah inside the Impact bubble those are some stars you mentioned I think. Alexander....eh. Dude held the belt for a year I can't name a single match he had.

    Exactly my point.

It used to be TNA, the place where Hogan was booking his daughter to marry Bully Ray, but now it's a place to acquaint with folks like Trey/Bey/Alexander/Gisele. Makes you wonder how they'd do on grander stages.
