Looks solid, but I think it will get unnecessary flack for coming after Infinity War.

I am pretty stoked, should be a nice change of pace after Infinity War.

Fishburne the latest to be in a DC and Marvel product which is very interesting.

At least they can have fun successfully unlike their DC counterpart

DC got shook so damn hard by what Marvel was doing. To me, it felt like they were zigging while Marvel was zagging. While there was flash and colors with Marvel, DC tried to get raw and gritty...especially with Superman. Once Marvel already had so much momentum and got The Avengers going, DC tried to rush with Justice League. It's just been bungled to the highest degree.

'Rushing' has been the biggest issue with these shared cinematic universes since Marvel has done it. Where it took 5 or 6 movies to build up to an Avengers, DC/Warner tried to do it with half that number. The Universal series tried to make Jekyll/Hyde it's own 'Nick Fury' character. Where Marvel organically grew over the course of a half-dozen movies, the other series are trying to play catch-up and they're tripping over themselves doing it.

This was epic. Despite swapping between so many different groups of characters, I never once felt annoyed about leaving one of them because they did a great job of making everything interesting and integral to the plot.

Thanos was an incredible villain. I was slightly dubious when hearing all the reviews of how you could empathise with him. But during a key emotional scene about half way through, I was floored by how much I was gutted for him. He’s bonkers, but he’s a man who is completely trapped by his own philosophy and his previous inaction.

How they balanced the overall tone of the film was really impressive - shocking moments, hysterical dialogue and just an overall feeling of inevitability about how bad things were going to get.

It turned out instead of Superman/Justice League, Zack Snyder should have been making Lobo...

I had a buddy who tried getting me into ”normal” comic books, but I was all like, ”No one is having sex or killing each other. This isn’t really doing it for me.” I was a little broken, that way. So when Watchmen came along, I was, ”This is more my scene.”

To use a sports term, feels like the usage rate of Black Panther wasn't as high as it could have been. Feels like they didn't anticipate the overwhelming support and likability of that character based off the standalone film. Not taking any actual comic storyline involved, it felt like they did take the support from Thor: Ragnarok and used that as a springboard for this one.

Be that as it may, I thought they did an incredible job of balancing all of these characters and making most of them feel important. That's a hard juggling act with so many characters involved, but I thought they walked the tight rope well with it.

I think the better option than either of those is just to use enough footage to build anticipation without giving away the plot. The last two Star Wars episodes have been pretty good at that. This movie is stuffed with action sequences and heroic poses, so there’s really no need for a fake scene - though I still think there’s a chance it’s from the next movie.

Even though they had no opportunity to change the movie when they saw how successful Black Panther was, I’m not sure they would have. They have consistently talked about this being very much a Thanos film. The characters who didn’t get many lines or standout scenes either have another film in the pipeline or will undoubtedly have more to do in Avengers 4.

I’m very impressed with how the Russos can pick up the ball left by other directors/writers. RDJ might have had his finest performance as Stark in Civil War. This time around, the tone and characterisation of Thor was a perfect continuation of Ragnarok. Drax and Rocket were brilliant too.

I get it being a Thanos film, it just felt like it lacked a little forecasting/anticipation with Black Panther. Thor and Spiderman had great recent films and it felt like they were given appropriate time to accompany that. There definitely is another half we're missing with the sequel, but it would be pretty disappointing if Black Panther didn't have a larger role, considering the audience would likely eat that up.

The mixed combinations created were another brilliant part of the balancing act during the movie. Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy were great. The amount of humor sprinkled in throughout the movie really helped balance the gloom towards the back portion of the film.

I would almost expect Panther to be the leader if Cap or Tony fall. It does suck he is gone for Avengers 4, but we may see him via the visions.

I watched Thor: Ragnarok and enjoyed it quite well. The comedic tone played well. I haven't seen the first two Thor flicks but I may go back and watch them eventually. I believe those are the only MCU movies, along with Black Panther which I will be watching soon, that I haven't seen yet.

Doing a full re-watch of the entire MCU would be fun.

well yea I'm not saying all in a row. 20 or so movies... would probably take me 2-3 months to go through them sequentially.

The first two Thor movies weren't all that great, in my opinion. If you're comparing to ones that had sequels, Iron Man and Captain America, Thor was clearly a distant, distant third in terms of overall viewing enjoyment with the sequels. They needed to take that character in a different direction, and that was the right one to take.

I really enjoyed the first Thor but hated the second one. The third is definitely the best but that's not taking away from the first. I'd say Iron Man falls behind Thor in terms of how good the trilogy is. I thought IM2 and IM3 were both awful.

From that list, the ones I haven't seen are:

    Thor: The Dark World
    Winter Soldier
    Ant-Man
    Black Panther
    Infinity War
    Ant Man & The Wasp
    Captain Marvel

Black Panther should be arriving today or tomorrow so will check that out. Saw Spider-Man Homecoming last week and didn't enjoy it.

Only movies I really, really enjoyed were Thor and Thor: Ragnarok. Do I need to see Ant-Man before Infinity War?

been seeing the commercials for ant man & the wasp and it looks great. the comedic chemistry between paul rudd, kate from lost and that mexican dude mixed with marvel action will be delightful.

fuck, I used to hate on comic book films and now marvel has won me over something fierce. well played, kevin feige.

I'm thinking of tweaking the watch order based on recommended watch orders, official chronology, and the fact that Captain Marvel likely won't be on DVD by the time Avengers 4 comes out...

    December 6th - Iron Man
    December 13th - Iron Man 2
    Decewmber 20th - Hulk
    December 27th - Thor

    January 3rd - Captain America
    January 10th - The Avengers
    January 17th - Iron Man 3
January 24th - Thor: The Dark World
January 31st - Guardians of the Galaxy

February 7th - Guardians of the Galaxy 2
    Feburary 14th - Winter Soldier
February 21st - Age of Ultron
    February 28th - Ant-Man

March 7th - [CAPTAIN MARVEL RELEASES THIS WEEK]
    March 14th - Civil War
    March 21st - Black Panther
    March 28th - Spider-Man: Homecoming

    April 4th - Doctor Strange
    April 11th - Thor Ragnarok
    April 18th - Infinity War
April 25th - Ant Man & The Wasp

    Thoughts?

I feel like if "Ant-Man & The Wasp" is a completely self contained story, as in it has nothing to do with the events of Infinity War, it can probably be slipped in between Homecoming and Strange...

Black Panther, Spider-Man & Ant Man/Wasp all deal with plot threads from Civil War. It would be a nice post civil war trilogy, before introducing Doctor Strange, who appears in Thor Ragnarok, whose ending directly leads into Infinity War...

I didn't think of that. Problematic...
Sadly, there's no official release date outside the US...
    I have a couple ideas...

Option A: If it's a week before the US release (common for UK Marvel releases), we could just have a two week period where we watch "Ant-Man" and "Captain Marvel"

Option B: There's no week off for Captain Marvel. It's just considered extra, any time viewing...

I'm leaning towards Option B, as watching two Marvel films in a week is already my planned solution if they move up Avengers 4's release date on us...

Captain Marvel is a prequel, so technically, it doesn't matter when you watch it.

    Okay...

    - Moving Captain Marvel out of the schedule because it will be in theaters at different points around the globe...
    - Moving Ant Man & The Wasp to a tentative spot on the condition it's a self contained story about post Civil War events, and doesn't contain certain events from Infinity War

First Captain Marvel trailer is out

I think it looks pretty good. Definitely will catch this in the theaters. Don't know too much of the backstory of Captain Marvel. Is there a specific reason they set this in the 90s or did they do it just because?

It'll take me a bit to get used to seeing Fury with both eyes and

Looks like it will be pretty awesome and a scaled-up version of hype/hope for women, much like Wonder Woman was when it was released. So again, DC did something but Marvel will probably do it better.

Like mth, I'm not to versed with the character but this looks great. My comic book knowledge is mainly DC, and this seems like how Green Lantern should be done, instead of what we got...

I'm intrigued by this movie for one big reason: Growing up, this character was a dude. I actually have a re-print somewhere of 1960's Captain Marvel comic. Plus those trading cards, he's a dude. I also notice that Jude Law is in this playing "Mar-vell" which is just another name used for Capt Marvel so yeah, very intrigued on catching up with how this all comes to be with Capt Marvel being a woman. I don't follow the character and never really did when I was younger, I used to get this character and Adam Warlock confused for some reason.

Is it bad the only movie I remember this girl from is Scott Pilgrim?

If you want to get an idea about that stuff beforehand, here's a good video:

There's a theory that Jude Law is really playing Yon-Rogg aka Magnitron, Captain Marvel's primary villain and a human looking Kree military commander...

    No, Bill. No.

You got me all excited about a Thanos-copter for no fucking reason and I was ultimately disappointed.

    I'm not doing it again.

But in Infinity War, Thanos has a ship with a giant circular spinny part...

And we can see here its blades spinning to propel itself...

    Yes, that's right...
    It's an incomprehensible alien helicopter...

The Thanos Copter was in Infinity War!

Been contemplating who gets the final/killing blow on Thanos. I'd have Cap and Thanos in the main event, w/ Cap coming out victorious via some small shenanigans and retiring on RAW the next night.

I've thought about it a lot too, and after all of the Stormbreaker buildup from the last movie, I kind of want Thor to go for the head...
It'd be a shame if they spent all of that time making the god killer weapon for nothing...

If it's a time travel movie, I kind of want Cap to make that dance date with Agent Carter...

Ugh, Cap using the time stone to go back for that would be so good. All just to make it back to Carter.

Disney probably wishes they could go back in the past to stop the camera from focusing so much on black widows ass.

Brie Larson wanted her press days to be more inclusive, less straight white male journalists coming off a conveyor belt.

Considering how well Wonder Woman did I doubt it.

One has to think A-it's just a website and B-not every Marvel movie is going to be a smash. I'm not big on the Iron Man solo movies, but I love him in pretty much every other Marvel movie.

To be honest, I'm not exactly jumping through hoops to see Capt Marvel. If it wasn't part of this saga, I'm not sure how excited I would be especially when this Capt Marvel I'm not even that familiar with.

Side note: My oldest daughter wants to see this movie because she loves Scott Pilgrim v. The World and this chick played Envy.
