I'm not being hyperbolic when I say that Tiger King on Netflix is one of, if not the, most insane documentary series I've ever seen. What a thoroughly intriguing freak show.

High Fidelity on Hulu was great. Very enjoyable. They left it open for a second season which I hope they make.

Nerded out when Jack Antonoff showed up. Big fan of his music.

My daughters have me watching "Crash Landed on You", and we are all really enjoying it. Despite the subtitles (it is in Korean), it is pretty easy to get hooked. Great rom-com drama, and the characters are surprisingly well developed. We've finished 8 episodes (of 16) and I am looking forward to more.

So we're just going to pretend like Tiger King's popularity isn't the craziest shit this side of the planet?

Why is everyone so big on it? I scroll past it on Netflix and wouldn't have looked at it twice but everybody is seemingly in love with it. Is it just because everyone's stuck inside and it's a new release?

    It's car wreck entertainment..

A gay meth addict who raises actual tigers on his own big cat reserve/wayward carny orphanage in a feud with the queen of all crazy cat ladies that feels like it's taking place in a high school in Florida..

People love freak shows and true crime. Tiger King is a perfect fusion of the two. I knew within the first few minutes of the first episode that it would be a huge hit with everyone indoors now.

Really hoping for a second season myself. But Zoe's star is blowing up so who knows if they can even make that happen.

Weeds is awesome for the first few seasons then they really lose the plot and it stops being about suburbanites growing weed for sale entirely.

Production on The Batman is stalled due to the coronavirus, so she'd have to finish shooting that before moving on to anything else.

Yep. And I read something just a little while ago that said studio execs were looking at her to break out in that film and potentially be one of the next big female stars in the big time blockbuster range of movies.

If that happens we could still see a season 2 of HF because she's a producer on it and very attached to the project. But we all know the ultimate goal for all actors is to do film. And by the time her star cools off it might be too late for any more High Fidelity. Which would be too bad but the one season does end with a certain amount of closure so I could live with it.

The Tiger show has some of the worst people in the world in it. I binged it in one day. I do feel the filming is really more planned than most docs. However, it's a page turner.

Sunderland 'Til I Die has dropped today. I'll be giving that a watch. That said, I have been staying away from watching anything depressing these last few weeks.

Tiger King is fascinating. Joe Exotic is a bad person, or at least portrayed as one, but I feel no sympathy for Carole Baskins. She seems to be just as bad of a person.

I would highly recommend the first two or three seasons.

It's just not that good towards the end and not really worth watching.

I would say the same thing about True Blood.

    I started it last night.

Cause I was like "Alexa. Show me shows about tigers, gay country singers, murder, blackmail, mullets, lesbian amputees and more tigers."

I would say the same thing about True Blood.

The challenge with Weeds is that you can't have Nancy get too successful - and therefore the need to keep taking everything away as The Botwins reinvent themselves over and over again.

On a sidenote, I'm really enjoying Ozark. It's got elements of Breaking Bad but we're more in the position of watching the spouse pull a Heisenberg rather than the protagonist proper. It's great stuff.

I saw episode 3 last night. It's riveting stuff. Has confirmed to me though that I really don't want to see the Spurs Amazon one when that finally gets finished.

Kinda love the Irish Marketing Manager on STID. She's bloody gorgeous.

I generally know where it's going, but it has me gripped anyway.

Started watching the Big Show Show today on Netflix, got through about half of the first episode before the Internet went down for a couple of hours. Not sure if I'm going to be continuing on with this.

    Pretty decent reviews on RT.

It seems to be a little different then your normal zombie flick.

I very much recommend it. It is different enough from other zombie flicks, and it's beautifully shot and acted. The tone is excellent. It ain't perfect, but it's entirely worth the watch.

Popularity rankings vary pretty fast. What are you referring to?

I will admit that I enjoyed the trainwreck of "Too Hot to Handle", but I liked "The Big Show Show" much more.

Sorry, was a comment on the doc speculating if anyone had watched The Witcher.

doc, it's a bit disjointed with different timelines jumping around but it's excellent.

That's a good summation of the Witcher. Its interesting, and well-acted. There's some enjoyable narratives.

I understand they were going for some intrigue with the timelines, but felt they could have cleaned up the presentation some.

Network I'd go with Evil and The Unicorn.

Streaming...did The Witcher come out in December?

No, I meant “2010”. That’s why I said “was” and not “is”.

I can't see how so many people shit on improv. When it's good it's so fucking good.

I read an interview with TJ Miller after silicon Valley ended and I remember him saying Middleditch was the best improv guy he'd ever worked with.

    I get it now

I"m having the best time of my life watching, "The Last Dance", docuseries on Michael Jordan and the 98 Bulls team and their journey to win a staggering 6th NBA Title. Such nostalgic bliss for me, as I watched it in real time back in the day and having always loved Michael Jordan. Lots of insight and stories, some good stuff on Pippen and Rodman too. Fantastic series.

I love the series. Fun seeing a lot of footage I've never seen before. Watching the Olympics pieces from the last set was great. I would watch those entire practice sessions, grainy footage and all

Wish this thread was called Streaming Reccomendation rather than specifically Netflix, as there are many good streaming apps.

I've been watching Wolf Creek season 1 on Shudder, you may remember the two movies that came out in the 2000s. This series is a continuation of that. It's pretty good so far, if you love the horror genre maybe check it out.

Love the Beastie Boys. I must look into the apple service.

Also for nostalgia reasons I've been watching Rugrats and Doug on Amazon Prime.

Max has the huge library of shows that weren't directly affiliated with HBO. You'll get the access of Max with Now but you may be limited on what platforms you'll actually be able to use Max on.

I was gonna try HBO Max on my lunch break today, but it's currently not supported on Roku devices...they are trying to reach a deal to get them on there. Could take days. Hopefully it's soon, I'm curious about HBO Max.

That was something that wasn't made aware to the paying customers prior to paying, I believe. Needless to say...people are pissed off.

Shrill: Incredible. Body/fat positive. The main character (Annie) is a doll.

    Watching:
Insecure - Fantastic so far. Always enjoyed Issa Rae's work.
Little Big Lies - I hated the book, but the show has glowing reviews.

Opinions on the current shows I'm watching:

    The Hunters (Amazon Prime)
    Better Call Saul (Netflix)
    Tokyo Vampire Hotel (Amazon Prime)
    Family Matters (Hulu)
    Dark (Netflix)

    Anybody watching these?

I realllly like the first 2 I listed. I was late as fuck to the Breaking Bad party, just banged all the seasons out in a 4-month span and then jumped into Saul after I wrapped up All-American. Really digging it more than I expected. The Hunters is fucking dope. I don't watch a lot of Prime shows, I mostly just watch Kung Fu movies and weird 80's/90's sci-fi movies but shows like Sneaky Pete, The Boys, and now this? Awesome.

I'd heard mixed things about The Hunters, that it should have been better considering the concept and cast. Might still give it a shot.

One show I went through recently that I found was a good watch was The Capture. Lost some steam near the end but was still enjoyable. Also finished up Succession, but I think we have a thread for that.

*edit* We don't. It's good stuff.

    I'm watching Upload.

Its decent. You can kind of predict everything an episode before it happens but it's cast really well and has a few moments.

Comedy: Finishing up “That 70s Show” (Netflix), about to re-start “Letterkenny” (Crave/Hulu) before the new season drops (sometime in June/July, if tradition has anything to do with it).

Drama: Working on season two of “The Shield” (FX), my second time watching that series.

    Being amazing.

Small town kentucky. A former resident (he's now a US Marshall) comes back after having lived in FL. He has run-ins with former friends and family that are part of the organized crime scene there.

Boyd Crowther is maybe my favorite antagonist of the last decade.

I was actually popping in here to ask if anyone had recommendations on letterkenny. I kinda feel like binging a new Comedy series, and keep seeing it pop up in my recommended views.

Just finished Riverdale Season 4. Really love that show. I think I may go rewatch Supernatural show. Love that. Can't remember what season I saw up to, nor what was happening. I remember an episode with the Miz, and a killer in a bunny costume. I'm gonna say Season 9 or 10? Anywho, like the monster of the week episodes more than the overall story episodes.

Do it, Mazer. You’ll need subtitles because the writing and delivery is top-notch, I’ve been through multiple rewatches and notice something new every time.

    Letterkenny is amazing.

I'll give it a run. I hate subtitles though. I like to hear the delivery, and not know what they're going to say before they're done speaking.

This is an ongoing debate between Mrs. Mazer and myself.

But even though you are on the wrong side of the subtitle issue, I will respect your recommendation.

Letterkenny is good fun. You won't really need subtitles. It'll just take you a few episodes to get the accent. Like watching The Wire.

I’m 3 episodes into Mythic Quest on Apple TV+ and enjoying it. Definitely glad the Always Sunny crew spun off for this new show. Megan Ganz is the shit, she wrote a lot of the great recent Sunny episodes and she’s a co-creator on MQ.

What's everyone's favorite service? I like Hulu the best, because of the new episodes a day later feature. I rarely use Amazon for streaming, and Netflix I just use for shows when new seasons are added, like Riverdale. Disney+ is eh for me. I suppose if I had kids it would be more fun to have family nights.

Went through 5 episodes of Letterkenny last night. I'm in.

It did bring the subtitle debate back up in the mazer household. I'll have to concede until Laura can get dialed in on the dialect.

Having lived in the Northeast, rural PA, South Carolina, Utah, Minnesota (twin cities and western), Idaho, Virginia, West Virginia, DC area, Portland, and married a girl from CA....my accent/dialect game is strong. On the other hand, I can combine the worst portions of each of those areas into my own speech. But there's always a trade-off
