I am already on season 3 of Ozark. Soooooooo good!

I also began watching Special, it's sorta funny.

Im about halfway into season 3 of Ozark. Its still great but it no longer feels like a Sopranos/Wire/Breaking Bad level of greatness.

In a fun note I finished and totally loved the Amazon show Panic. On it is this character named Ray. Well, you know how Jack Nicholson always plays characters named Jack? Well Ray is played by Jack's son...Ray. Ray Nicholson.

    Guess it's a family thing.

Season 2 of Dave started. The first 2 episodes were okay but not up to season 1 standards.

yea I agree. I liked the first one more, that Korea adventure was pretty funny overall. GaTa's reactions are the best. whether he's just tripping out over the crazy shit going on or dropping some wisdom, his presence on the show is awesome. second episode was melancholy with Dave coming off as a loser.

I started Justified. 5 episodes in, and I like it so far. I like how it's a Western and I like how it's largely episodic with an outlaw-of-the-week type format.

    Justified is amazing.

Such a well-constructed and acted show.

I started watching Black Summer on Netflix after my boss recommended it, it's pretty good. It feels like people act more realistically than a show like The Walking Dead. I'm halfway through season 1 right now, first season is only 8 episodes, I'm not sure about season 2.

I don't think anyone on here has mentioned The Kominsky Method (based on my forum search) but it is a delightful comedy show on Netflix. Super well written and funny. Granted it focuses a lot on old people getting medical issues and people dying and whatnot, but it still keeps a light tone and the banter between Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin is wonderful.

Having said that, I've only watched 2 of the 3 seasons and just learned that Arkin didn't return for season 3. That's a kick in the nuts. I can't imagine the 6-episode third/final season will be the same quality without him. But those first 16 episodes... I strongly recommend them. They're also short episodes and only 8 per season so you can breeze through them.

Anybody watch Leverage back in the day? I always found it to be a fun "easy-watch" show with good chemistry between the cast.

IMDB.tv (available via Prime) is about to drop Leverage: Redemption this week.

Kinda looking forward to checking it out.

Everyone except Timothy Hutton (who is currently facing rape allegations).

Noah Wyle is coming into the cast as well.

Peacock free version has some good shit. At the moment you can watch The Godfather and you just have to watch like 3 minutes of commercials at the start but then it’s commercial free. And they have Jaws with ads, which is still not bad for a free streaming service. 45 second ads here and there, not too bad.

Dr. Death premieres on Peacock in a week and I can't wait for it. If it's anywhere near as good as the podcast it'll be great. I might wait until all eight episodes are out and binge it in a week or so.

I loved Joshua Jackson in Fringe so I'm going to give it a shot even though I'm unfamiliar with the source material.

I can't stress enough that you should listen to the podcast first. I think it was eight 30-40 minute episodes. Hearing what that doctor did was simultaneously infuriating, mind blowing, and disgusting. I don't think the show will be able to capture what the podcast host did. It was a great listen.

A surgeon in TX seemed to be so badly butchering people he was supposed to be saving that some of them ended up paralyzed and a couple died. He bounced around from hospital to hospital until other nurses and doctors took notice of what was going on and made it their mission to stop him.

It's the only podcast I've ever listened to where it had me on the edge of my seat while also making me gag.

    In comparison to Booker.

But it would be unfair to paint him as a Rock fan exclusively. The variety of his interests were only exceeded by the magnanimity of his heart.

Almost done season three of “Black Sails”. It’s pretty good.

I just wanted to say I'm on episode 3 and this makes me never want to have a surgery again.

Right? It was hard to listen to in some spots. Especially the part where it was likened to missing the stud while putting a screw in drywall.

Fear Street 2 was great 70s camp slasher stuff. Again, anyone not watching these are missing out. 3 is this friday. Period horror/witch theme.

It's the only podcast I've ever listened to where it had me on the edge of my seat while also making me gag.
i will co-sign everything bigal is saying on this. i binged the podcast last year while doing delivery driving, and it's simultaneously fascinating and infuriating and ghoulish. the raw facts of the case are more disturbing to hear than i imagine seeing them through the lens of a dramatized tv show would be, so listening to the podcast first would probably be better. the show will be a nice companion piece.

Sadly, Booker fantasy has still not gained mainstream acceptance.

Were it not for a random comment from Virms, I wouldn't even be aware of its existence.

I just started I think you should leave with Tim Robinson on Netflix. It's a sketch show. There's been a couple good sketches so far. Reminds me of Tim and Eric but doesn't go quite as far into absurdity.

I also just started it. I'm to ep 3. Such a fun show. Not totally loving how some questions go unanswered from show to show but then again it is trying to succesfully stradle the line between procedural tv and still keeping an ongoing story which is tough for network tv and I get that but the thing is it's only available via Paramount+ so I wish they'd dive deeper in.

Still its the best thing I've seen in this category since the days of the X-Files and Milenium.

Yeah the story from the first one wraps around the next two it seems and helps connect the three together. I love the varying themes with 1 being an ironic 90s slasher, 2 being a 70s camp slasher and 3 apparantly being a period piece horror in the style of The Witch.

    Good fun.

I finished the third episode. I can see what you're saying but I think it's too early to say that with certainty. I thought they did a nice job in S1 with answering questions or delivering good callbacks. They're definitely trying some new things here but it's still pretty fun.

Your Paramount+ line made me laugh as I thought about when Kristen dropped an F-bomb in the first episode lol.

I watched it last night. I thought it was pretty good. I'd have liked a little more closure on the ending but obviously they want to set up part 3.

But yeah it was good. Especially considering that I didn't remember much at all about the first one. I remembered a deaf girl, The Office guy got eaten and that's about it. Part 2 still managed to entertain though.

I saw an ad for the new season on YouTube the other day and had totally forgotten that I'd watched the first season. Had to look it up and remind myself. i remember thinking some of it was pretty funny so I'll probably check out the new season.

My wife couldn't really get into Maisel so I'll probably watch more of that on my own but we did start Evil after seeing a few of you talk about it here.

I didn't realize the guy from Luke Cage is in it, he's great. Super weird seeing Michael Emerson play a character this dark too. I was hoping this would be the first procedural without a will they/won't they but it looks like they're doing it. My wife seems really hooked on this show though so I expect us to binge through it quickly. I'm enjoying the science vs supernatural premise.

Evil season 2 is not as good as season 1, I don't like the episodes ending without really being wrapped up. The latest episode about "zombies" was just dumb.

Season 2 of Dave also isn't that good unfortunately. The episode from last week was pretty good and the first episode was good but the ones in between have me thinking what the fuck am I watching and why am I watching it. I feel like it's trying too hard or maybe not trying hard enough, I'm not sure, but something is off.

Black Summer season 2 was really good however. I think I liked it more than season 1 even. It probably helps that you get to know the characters that are still alive more this season. I hope it gets a season 3 even though I'll probably forget what happened by the time it airs.

Isn't Black Summer Season 2 doing The Last of Us thing and showing the characters trying to live through a bad winter, but also, zombies?

Also, damn is it ever hard to believe canonically that Black Summer is in any way a prequel to Z-Nation. Z-Nation is a balls-to-the-wall goofball, Walking Dead parody. Black Summer is a Goddamn depressing slog through a wave of mutilation where one zombie is unkillable and a super-threat. It doesn't "jive" in my mind as even being in the same universe.

Ted Lasso may be my new favorite comedy.

Central Park seems fun so far as well.

Just got Apple TV so working through that. Schmigadoon should be fun too.

Dr. Death on Peacock is pretty good. It's eight episodes and I'm five in. Pretty solid cast (Joshua Jackson, Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater).

Have not listened to the podcast, but my friend said the podcast was very good and that this is pretty entertaining. I'll listen to the podcast when we're done. My main complaint is that I'm getting tired of shows that like to float back and forth in the timeline. This show does is it a lot. That said, it's still a good watch.

I like Schmigadoon on apple tv+. Keegan-Michael Key is so good and the songs are good too.

Dr Death was good. The timeline jumping could have been done a little better though, I think.

Yeah, the jumping could certainly be done a bit smoother

Mrs. Maisel was excellent. Can’t wait for the next season. For me, the standouts were Alex Borstein, Tony Shaloub, and the guy who played Lenny Bruce. Borstein was especially fantastic. I liked the comments about her being a man and how they kept those up for all three seasons. Subtle but funny.

The Woodstock ‘99 documentary on HBO Max is also top notch. I’ll always consider that era of music my favorite because I was 16 when it was happening, and I’ll never forget listening to the entire concert on the radio in the car and at the beach. I remember it was a shit show but it was interesting to see just how big of a shot show it really was. Highly recommend watching it.

Schmigadoon on appletv+ is very good. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys musicals and comedy.

Can see that but my biggest takeaway of the season was Ben.

Yeah one of my problems was that he didn't act like someone bipolar. He started acting like he had a learning disorder. And why couldn't he just get back on his meds? They acted like once he quit, that's it. Meds aren't a thing now.

If anyone has a PS5 or knows someone that does you can get 6 months Appletv+ just by signing into the app on a PS5.

If you do that check out Schmigadoon and Mythic Quest.

I moved offices a few weeks ago. I was in a conversation the other day-and being a person who constantly amuses myself with quotes and references-I said to someone "Why don't you dial it back about 30% there". The third person in the conversation immediately recognized the letterkenny reference.

Which means everytime we pass each other now, the following exchange occurs.

    How are you now?

    Good. And you?

    Eh. Not so bad.

I can't believe it's finally happening. I'll have to re-read the comics. I hope they don't fuck it up.

I finally bit the bullet and paid for the subscription to Impact+. Obviously I love having their entire history on there, but it's tough to scroll through. Whenever I pick something it just seems to play either the most recent thing or one at complete random.

I just finished episode 8 of “Deadwood”, keep hoping that business will pick up. But it doesn’t.

Ian McShane has his moments but so far the show is not doing it for me.

Deadwood is one of my favorite shows ever but if you aren't feeling it by episode 8 then you might as well give up. What you're watching right now is what Deadwood is. A historical, character based drama set in the old west.

There's never going to be any gun fights or action sequences. Just more intrigue and intense conversations.

Although Bullock does occasionally beat the shit out of someone.

Finished season one Monday, business has indeed picked up.

Bullock as Sheriff, count me in. Pretty pumped to see where Titus Welliver’s arc leads.

Atypical was good. Cute. I will always associate penguins with Sam.

Back to Breaking Bad. In the past I watched 2 seasons and stopped. I am halfway through season one again and very happy with my choice to redo it. Such a good freaking show.
*Plus Jessie Pinkman is so hot* (No idea why I think so.)

Melly, your revelation that you find Jessie Pinkman hot has killed this thread.

I've just been posting in the threads for the relevant shows instead of this one. Dexter and Brooklyn 99 specifically.

Evil is back Sunday but season 2 is a huge letdown compared to season 1. It feels like they've written themselves into a corner with the djinn stuff.
