Has anyone been watching The Queen's Gambit or The Undoing? I heard both were great, but I also heard The Undoing is overrated. Personally, The Queen's Gambit doesn't seem interesting to me.
My MIL keeps raving about The Queen’s Gambit.

Queen's Gambit was fine, but definitely overrated.

If you just go in expecting a good show you'll enjoy it. Don't go in expecting greatness though.

I thought it was pretty great. Main actress was fantastic.

The Undoing is definitely overrated. It was ok. Nicole Kidman's character was a full on idiot. I also felt like the payoff during the final court scene and what happened after was weak. Hugh Grant was fantastic, though.

Big Little Lies was way better, if you want to watch rich people's double lives unravel. Kidman was amazing in that.

Gotta show some love to The Prom on Netflix. Music is fun and I really love the message it sends. Plus it hits you in the heartstrings the right amount.

I enjoyed the Prom, but I wasn't sure how I should describe it. My wife told me "it was fun like an overdone episode of Glee."

I think it's got more heart than Glee and better overall performances.

Highly recommend The Tick (2016) series on Prime. Pretty gutted it got cancelled after 2 seasons because it's really damn good and I want more...

Is there any service that has all the episodes of each series of Law and Order?

Wife and I have been watching The Blacklist. How did I miss this show for so many years? It's fantastic. James Spader is wonderful as the anti-hero in this show. I love it.

I can't find any streaming service that has all of the CSI's, so I think nobody has it. What a gold mine that nobody is tapping.

Can't you just turn on the TV at like any time of day on any day of the week and have at least 10 channels showing an episode of CSI or L&O?

Maybe, but not if I want to start from the beginning.
Besides, does that statement not hold true for a lot of streaming content?

Ah very nice. Now Hulu just needs to capture CSI: NY and CSI: Cyber and they have my money.

I was not aware there was that much interest in 'Ozark', so no I have not yet, but I have to move it up in my queue now.

Cyber sucks, NY was ok with Lt Dan.

    Hulu is worth the money.

What I meant was interest in me watching it. There is not exactly a watch party on here.

Cyber lasted what 1 season? Might as well just watch it.

Well, what plan should I get if I do buy in?

I do no ads for $12 a month because when I was on the ad plan before it was always the same 1 ad that played, when jb Pritzker was running for governor of illinois, I'm not exaggerating no matter what I watched that was the only ad that played, and it drove me so crazy that I spent another $6 a month to never hear the ad again. You could at least do the free trial if you haven't used one yet.

$6 a month just to skip ads, I guess that does not sound so bad. I have used it, I like it and everything but I'm just not sure it's going to have a lot of stuff I want to watch.

Hulu Live is great and a fuck of a lot cheaper than we were paying for cable. Just added Showtime for the final season of Shameless for $5 a month. For cable and internet we were paying $225 a month. For Hulu Live and internet we pay $105 a month, now $110 with Showtime.

You ever try doing the Spader look into their eyes and nod while you talk to them thing? Like youre agreeing with yourself as youre speaking?

Good way to scare people. Only works for him.

Welcome to the club. Which season are you currently on?

Fuck Christmas, December 25th is Letterkenny Day.

I will forever be a huge TPB fan, but it really dropped off in quality towards the end; the last season (or two?) they tried to do after Dunsworth died just weren’t the same. TPB walked so Letterkenny could run...

I need to catch some of those.

We're about to subscribe to HBO max for the month. Basically so the kids can watch wonder woman 84.

Its still cheaper than the theatre if Laura and I were to take the 3 oldest.

My parents have att digital cable and they had a 30 day trial for HBO Max they weren't ever going to use because they have no urge to ever understand streaming stuff, so I just redeemed it and started season 2 of His Dark Materials.

I enjoyed the first season. Hard to say much on season 2 yet.

On the topic of Nat Geo on Disney+ check out the Wild X (x= Russia, Yellowstone, etc.) It's like the video equivalent of easy listening music.

The Chef Show on Netflix is great. Jon Favreau going around with his advisor from the film Chef and exploring restaurants and hanging with celebrities. Food looks great and everyone seems cool.

Lots of marvel content coming up. Aside from all the movies, I'm looking to wandavision and falcon and winter soldier.

I like the plus/hulu/espn combo pack

Just finished season 2 of yellowstone. Awesome run of episodes to end the season

Yeah I feel like if I am going to dive into this I would have to figure out what the best "combo pack" to get would be.

Hulu in that pack is the ad version right? I'm never going back.

It is. You can upgrade it though. Same dollar difference I believe.

But forget all this. Every post we make is distracting us from the fact that Cobra Kai just moved their release date up to Jan 1.

Is that show good if I don't remember much about Karate Kid except he was the bad guy?

The show is excellent. I will say that your enjoyment is enhanced if you were a fan of the movies, but it stands alone.

Not the main bad guy, but I thought she did a good job.

She was a hell of a lot better than the main bad guy.

My biggest complaint is that Gal Gadot came off as bored, some how. I thought she was super stiff and wooden. No charisma. Which is weird, because I thought she was great in WW 1.

I started Horace and Pete on Hulu. I think I avoided it until now due to Louie's sexual misconduct. I stopped consuming anything of his and fair play for anyone who continues to do so. But I'm 3 episodes in and holy cow, Louie is such a good writer. I'm really enjoying this whole production but especially the scripts. The man can write his dick off and this might be his peak... at least for those who appreciate a more heavy dose of family drama.

I have a hard time watching Louie now too. Not because I think he's a criminal. Just an asshole and it really let me down. But that doesn't mean he's untalented.

My wife wanted to watch some teen girl LOST show called The Wilds on Prime Video so it's only one season and we're watching that and then we'll finally get to Cobra Kai. It seems to have the same problems with bad writing and writing themselves into a corner that LOST did and the irrationality of teen girls while likely accurate, is still annoying.

Binged through Queens Gambit last weekend and I liked it but it seemed to end abruptly.

Well, there's no smoke monster yet, so I guess so. There's also a Cabin in The Woods element to it which I can't wait to see how they drop the ball on.

I finished Horace and Pete. It was good.

I'm currently watching Arrested Development (Netflix).... just finished season 3. Hadn't gotten that far previously. Now onto the later episodes (the remixed season) and expecting a drop-off in quality. I like this show (based off the first 3 seasons) but I've never loved it like others did. It's got the jokes and crisp, clever writing, but it doesn't endear itself to me quite like other shows. I did find myself saying the name Bob Loblaw out loud a lot when he was appearing. That name makes me laugh.

Re-watching The Shield (Hulu) and New Girl (Netflix).

Also just started to Ted Lasso (Apple+) which is good stuff.

I love it, but I'm not putting it with the holy trinity of The Sopranos, The Wire and Mad Men. I would go with those 3 on top, then Breaking Bad and The Shield in some order.

It's hard for me to validate that opinion because it is so good to its core, in every way. It is more flawless of a show than The Sopranos or The Wire, even if I put those two above it because of how damn good they are at their best.

I think a better way to state it is it's not your cup of tea. And that's fine. It's a period piece about a 60s ad agency, and a man with some inner demons, and some women trying to break through in an era when women were anything but equals in the business place or at home. It's not flashy like a drug bust or the mafia or a plane crash or a meth empire. It's small in scope, but immaculate in execution.

It is worthy of the praise and accolades it received.

But yea, it's not for everyone.

Very well put! The pacing is SO slow. I love dramatic shows with great storytelling, which is exactly what Mad Men is, but I never could get into it. I think Bosch is a very slow-paced show, but I absolutely LOVE it!

I bought every season of mad men back in the day on blue ray and I thanked I watched 1 episode. I am not even certain if I even have the blue Ray's. I think thier in a box out in the garage but it's been years since I looked.

Mad Men at 3? Insanity. The Wire, The Shield, The Sopranos; in that order.

Co-sign 100% on the “Bosch” awesomeness, BTW; definitely in my second tier after the Holy Trinity.

Hot take: “Better Call Saul” > “Breaking Bad”.

yes it should. it's not as exciting with the guns and the meth and the killings, it is more of a slow burn, but it is an excellent drama and has recently become arguably the best drama going currently. I don't agree with the BCS > BB take but that has become a somewhat common take in recent years. it's on Netflix.

final season of BCS is coming in 2021, although I think they might split up the final 13 episodes into 2 parts, as they tend to do, so it might bleed into 2022 before it ends. I can't wait for it to come back.

Yeah, I’m going to give it a go. I’m all about the slow-burn as long as the story is compelling and the characters are fun, i.e. Bosch. Now that I think about it, I’ve watched the 1st two episodes of BCS and remember being very intrigued about the show. Not sure why I stopped watching... probably got roped into some Shonda Rhimes drama series with the wife.

Coyote, the new Michael Chiklis show, is now streaming its 6 episodes on CBS All Access. Totally giving that a watch.

I was a big fan of “Walker, Texas Ranger” as a kid. Why must executives ruin good things by making shitty reboots? I’d love to tune in, but because it’s on the CW it’s going to be some shitty angsty soap opera a la “Riverdale”. Fucking embarrassing.

Almost done season five of “Rescue Me”, there are some storylines that I had totally forgot about. Tommy Gavin was a piece of shit, the best parts of the show involved the firehouse and the hockey team.

I havent watched a preview or anything to get a feel of the show but you obviously haven't paid very much attention to cws lineup over the last 5 or 6 years. I'd say 80% of thier shows are action based vs soap opera. The lead star comes from supernatural which was a very good show.

Started Wayne on Amazon Prime and besides the boston accent I keep thinking this must be how Jon Moxley was when he was younger.

Is House of Cards worth the watch? I remember hearing rave reviews about the show when it first came out, but it sort of died out after the Spacey stuff happened.

I think I made it through the first two seasons before I lost interest. It was ok. Nothing great.

It was pretty damn good for several seasons but it didn’t have a satisfying ending because Spacey was written out prior to the final season. Tough to lose your lead character unceremoniously before the climax of the story. But if that doesn’t scare you off, then yea it’s a good dark political drama.

So it’s worth the watch if you’re okay with not having a good ending for the lead character and if you like political shows and kevin spacey

    Now onto Bridgerton.

Funny and steamy. Here for it. Plus, she is adorable.
