Makes sense. My hazy memory tells me that I liked season 1 significantly better than season 2 but isn't necessarily an indictment on s2. I'm looking forward to it coming back.

Saw the trailer for this on Hulu the other day and geeked out a little. High Fidelity is one of my favorite movies and I'm excited to see they made it a show. Very cool they cast Zoe Kravitz as the lead since her mom was in the movie.

This is exactly why I still have a decent collection of DVDs/Blu rays.

Not only losing access, but content comes and goes on streaming services.

Here's a thought nobody has ever had.

You see a guy standing in line at the RedBox in front of the CVS and you think to yourself "Wow. I have to get my life together like THAT guy."

Excellent point, especially now with everyone wanting to have their own streaming service and taking their content away from the ones that already have it in order to make it more exclusive.

I'm all about physical copies. Whether that's music, movies, doesn't matter.

I recently binned 75% of my CDs. Mrs M was so proud.

Also, with having so many DVDs, I have 6 binders full of them. As in, I threw out all the cases and they are in 6 nice looking binders on a bookshelf. This is films. All alphabetical.

Still have a couple of shelves of Blu rays, which I still buy, and TV DVDs are in 2 small 4 draw units. They're leather, so pretty classy, and sit either side of the leather sofa. And they double up as place Alexa sits and a nice cup of tea.

Wrestling DVDs/Blu rays are under the bed and in the loft. My lad wanted to watch the WWE Network on the day my sub ended, typically. Luckily, it was WrestleMania XXVIII he wanted to watch and I had it to hand.

Streaming services has saved me a hell of a lot of money. I was looking at my DVD/Blu Ray collection the other day and most of them I saw once and then it was on the shelf for them collecting dust. At least with streaming services you're paying $9.99 or whatever a month but there is so much content that you're always gonna get your money's worth. That being said, I think there is a special feeling with a physical copy. Looking at the artwork, for CDs reading the liner notes. It's just all good stuff. But I'm in money saving mode at the moment. If I ever get myself out of debt I'd say fuck you to Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, but not the WWE Network because I love it, and go back to buying Blu Ray and CDs.

What's funny is the new nostalgia will be "Remember when we used to leave the house and buy shit?" Lol. People don't even leave their fucking house to grocery shop.

But you look at entertainment. How many of us remember that awesome feeling of going to the mall on a Tuesday when the new album dropped? Or going to the video store and walking around for 10-20 minutes trying to decide which movie or video game or wrestling event we wanted to spend our money on?

Pro's and con's to technology evolving but imo we're losing some pretty special adventures just because we're fucking lazy.

I worked in a video store for nearly a decade and I absolutely loved it. Only job I've ever actually enjoyed. One of the best parts was when people would ask for movie recommendations because they weren't sure what they wanted to watch. Now, my wife and I sit and scroll through the same 50 movies Netflix recommends and say "guess we don't feel like watching a movie tonight" when we can't find anything that looks interesting.

I get 30 mins to an hour MAX to watch TV at night. More often than not, its less than that. Sometimes that bloody choice paralysis chews up 10 minutes of it, the bastard.

I love that the internet archives reactions to news as it was happening. It looks like they thought the DVD rental thing was announced as going away, but Netflix still has DVD-exclusive content.

Narcos Mexico Season 2 drops this Thursday. Pretty excited. My wife is on a business trip next Sunday - Wednesday so I know how my nights will be spent.

In other news, I finally got around to Ozark Season 2. This show has made Laura Linney one of my favorite actresses in Hollywood. Her transformation in Season 2 was incredible acting. If Season 3 lives up to the same expectations this may be one of my new favorite shows. All around excellent TV.

Locke and Key, anyone else watching this? I'm 2 episodes in and still have no idea what the fuck it's about lol. It's unfolding, so we're getting more info, but I'm literally watching this based solely on seeing 3-4 people on my FB saying they've already binged it and can't for season 2. Some people need to really chill on the binge watching lol.

'Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts' is an enjoyable, for-any-age adventure series. Very imaginative and colorful, funny, good music, lots of exciting action and chase scenes, some good tender moments, it's getting critical acclaim. Watch it with your kids, watch it yourself, it's all good. Better get another season.

    "Kipo" was amazing.
Watched a few episodes of "I'm A Killer."
    Currently trying "The Office" again.
Maybe I need to try "Locke and Key"?

Supposed to be based on the graphic novels by Joseph Hill(Stephen King's son). I'm two episodes in and a few things.
    1. I hate the little kid. He is unnervingly unbearable. Which at times is appropriate, but doesn't make him sympathetic.
    2. They change some prominent things from the first trade to the show. The anywhere key and the bargain made for it, etc...

That being said, I'm enjoying it. It has its own stranger things-ish vibe

I watched the pilot. For such a long running show that gets referenced in other shows frequently, it still feels underrated to me.

Still my number 1 TV show of all time is 24. I binged that bad boy like a mother fucker.

It's been so long that I look forward to doing it again.

Did anyone watch the spin-off show they did a season of? It was ok. Decent even.

The US version of Shameless is my most bingeable show of all time. Even now if they have a whole season on during a weekend my wife and I will end up watching it again.

Oh man, I loved our Shameless. Watched like 5 seasons, but never did finish it. No idea why!

Never tried the US version. Never tried the US Office either.

I have 9 days off work after today.

Tried the New Adventures of Old Sabrina or whatever it's called....didn't really like the first episode but that's to be expected with introducing characters and the like. I hope it picks up in episode 2.

Also just finished up You. I really enjoy that one....looking forward to Season 3.

9 days off is plenty of time to binge both the US version of The Office and Shameless!

William H. Macy is unbelievable as Frank Gallagher. You'll go from hating him to loving him within a minute.

Oh and High Fidelity is the shit.

It should be a legit crime worldwide to not have seen the US Office.

I haven't either. Let's be honest it's not going to be as good as the UK version, so not going to bother.

I haven't seen the UK version but for the first season. They seem to be different enough shows.

They really got time to develop the characters more over time. I get a lot of people's complaints that it should have ended when Michael left but all the build up in between in just fantastic tv. I think you will enjoy it if you give it a chance.

I'm not sure if its even on Netflix right now, but I'm sure you can find it streaming somewhere or pick up the DVD sets if it isn't.

I binged the "From Dusk 'Till Dawn" TV series and its been an absolutely trippy, fun ride.

There's three seasons and shit just gets more and more batshit fuck crazy the longer the show goes on.

    - If you've seen the first "From Dusk 'Till Dawn" movie, the first season (broadly) follows the beats of the movie's plot, while extending things, adding to the mythology, changing how the vampires work (and essentially dissuading viewers of the notion that these vampires are anything like "classic" vampires) and winding the plot up to the battle in the Titty Twister and then taking things in a wildly different direction after all that.

    - Season 2 spreads our main characters to the far winds, pairing them off in two separate odd-couple pairings. We see how almost all crime and criminality in Texas and all things South of the border has something to do with vampires and their flesh and blood trade. The second season doesn't bother trying to follow anything established in the second movie. It plays its own story out, as we see the origins and different lives and enterprises of the different "Vampire Masters" all of whom lead their own tribes and have their own criminal empires and mini-fiefdoms as they vie for control and politic against each other. We also find out about the "blood well", the show's big "end of the world" macguffin - A mass grave of bodies dumped in the middle of Texas during the Mesozoic Era. An oil-drilling company found the site, drilled for oil, and instead of Texas Tea, opened a crack in the Earth that shot blood like a tectonic artery in the Earth. There's enough pressurized blood there to feed every vampire in the Southern hemisphere - and nobody wants to share it.

    - Season 3 Gets really fucking crazy, as we're introduced to demons being brought in from Xibulba - the vampire equivalent of the afterlife. Its crazy, crazy shit. Not to give too much of anything away, but by the end of the series we've got - Two bank robbers, one of whom is a vampire, his girlfriend - who's an Aztec Priestess turned into a vampire goddess who's hundreds of years old, a regular human sheriff (who was partnered with Don Johnson - Who dies in the first episode), and Sex Machine - Gary Busey's son - An archaeology professor who turns heel on the good guys, gets bitten, turns evil, uses his erotic vampire hypnosis powers to create sex slaves, gets fed up with the bad guys, turns good again and who has a revolver codpiece that pops out of crotch and makes a dick gun. Oh... and Tom Savini plays an ancient, seemingly immortal demon hunter who's given up the monster hunting life to run a weed shop and gas station.

And yes, Gary Busey Jr and Tom Savini do meet. And yes, Gary Busey Junior does introduce himself to Tom Savini. And yes, they do reference that Tom Savini was Sex Machine in the "From Dusk 'Till Dawn" movie. Gary Busey Jr.: "Well, I'm Professor Whatever. But my friends call me "Sex Machine." *beat* Tom Savini: "Yeah pal, I'm sure they do."

    This show is amazing. A-Ma-Zing.

Its a 90 minute b-movie dragged kicking and screaming into 3 seasons worth of ever-increasing insanity. Its fun as Hell.

I second this. Ed Helms is just not funny. At all. I tolerated him in the first Hangover because Bradley Cooper and Zach Galafinakis made up for him.

I adored the first season. Then I watched the 2nd and I'm not even sure I made it to the end. Really felt like they lost the thread once they had to do more than turn the movie into a tv show.

    Also it's Jake Busey.

They do get out in the weeds a bit, but once the Gecko boys get back together and start working for their Uncle, things get a little less complicated. And that's when it gets fun again.

Another good show that was canceled before it's time. Tim Roth is a great actor and is mesmerizing as Dr. Cal Lightman a man who can read micro-expressions and tell when someone is lying. Hopefully Netflix gets Season 3 soon.

9 years later, and it being a guarantee that we will never see any more of this universe still makes me sad. I recommend starting with this fanfic once you have finished the series finale, if you want more: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1350396...-Where-You-Are

It's not on Netflix but you all need to check out The Hunters. What a fun show. I haven't had that much fun watching a TV show since Banshee. It has everything -- great acting, solid story, holy shit moments, great visuals and some awesome action.

You should probably watch something else man. I mean if you don't like it so far I can promise you the show doesnt do anything different farther in. Its just more wizards and trolls.

If you're that deep might as well keep going you're almost halfway through it. Or start watching INTO THE BADLANDS. That show is great.

I just started watching Breaking Bad. 2 episodes in and I totally get why people praise the show.

My question is this though....So far I've seen titties, heard FUCK a few times, did they actually show tits and say FUCK on AMC or were they censored or alternate images/audio played instead?

Breaking Bad just gets better and better as you go. I'm jealous of you because I would love to relive watching that show. Still my favorite series of all time. Enjoy

And I just started the Witcher as well. Very bizarre but also cool. I am confused as hell because I don't really understand what's going on. Might have to dial up some Wikipedia episode summaries

I don't remember titties. I'm pretty sure that's still a no-no on cable television. It's possible that fuck was censored on occasion, I have a vague recollection that it might have been silenced on the initial broadcast at times, but Jordo is right that fuck is now allowed on cable up to a point. They say it on Always Sunny a lot in recent seasons.

I hope that you are still watching Better Call Saul then because the spirit of Breaking Bad lives on through that show, which is arguably of the same quality. The new season just started and it's excellent.

    Never seen Breaking Bad.

Like an old man though, I have the first 3 seasons on DVD.

    I don't believe it's on Netflix...

It's taking me an age to get through season 4 of Homeland. I'm assuming I needn't bother with seasons 5-7. I mean, 4 isn't exactly bad, it's just nowhere close to where it was.

I do need to binge something really tasty.

Where I'm going wrong is trying to watch too many things at once. I was in the middle of Narcos, Homeland and Safe. I'm done with Narcos season 1 and I'm happy to leave it there and maybe come back to it later. Homeland, 3 eps to go with season 4 and may leave it there. Safe is a one off anyway.

So Breaking Bad is the one to get on with then. I wanted to watch it with Mrs M, but she doesn't do binge watching anything, so I'm better off going this alone if I want to get through it in less than about 3 years.

Black Mirror felt revolutionary when it first came out because there really wasn't anything on TV at all like it. The longer it's gone on I feel like it's suffered a lot from diminishing returns. They don't really have the capacity to surprise anymore, it's just saying basically the same thing slightly differently.

Ever since reading this article I can't take it seriously anyway: https://the-toast.net/2015/01/20/next-black-mirror/

Trust me, after the 1st episode I understood the hype, it's worth making time for. If you don't have time for tv that's one thing. I try to put myself in the mindset that all these streaming services I have are just like if I had regular cable. I didn't watch much tv but I had my 4-5 shows that I'd make it a point to see when they were on.

If I can do it you can do it brother

Oh yeah it's definitely that I don't have time for TV at all lately. Up for work at 5, out the door at 6, home at 4:30 but then it's time to make dinner, give my daughter a bath, read her books, get her in bed, prep lunches for the next day. In there I still have to take care of the dog, make sure he gets enough exercise and gets fed. By the time I get in bed I read for like 20 minutes and I'm out cold. Maybe, maybe, on the weekends I have time to sit down and watch some TV with the wife if we're not doing anything else.

That's a pretty great article. And I do agree it's been downhill as it's gone along I thought Bandersnatch was pretty dope but the last season was very weak.

Wife and I started Locke and Key this weekend - pretty fun show with some interesting characters. I like the premise. I like the mystery. The little boy in the show is definitely the scene stealer.

First few episodes of High Fidelity on Hulu have been really good. Very enjoyable. Da'Vine Joy Randolph steals the show.

Very much looking forward to 'Dave' on Hulu. Huge fan of L'il Dicky so I have high hopes for his show.

I've only heard incredibly negative things about Riverdale from anyone whose opinion I would trust on TV shows. It actually seems like it might be out of the same drawer as Glee, so take that for what it's worth.

You went longer than me. Was something I would watch with my wife and we made it to the end of season 2 and by the end of that last one we were just barely keeping interest to see how it all ended (which was horribly).

    I think that's doing it a disservice...

The 12 Days of Christine, Bernie Cliftons Dressing Room and A Quiet Night In are some of the greatest 30 minutes of TV ever created.

It has cheerleaders fighting crime with bows and arrows, and asks you to take it at least serious enough to be a plot point.

You could probably use that as a litmus test. Because you will be facing that type of conundrum regularly.

I Am Not Okay With This looks really good but then I click on the episode list and it's 7 episodes long and 4 of them are 20 minutes or less.

    What the fuck?
