All these players on the pitch are wankers. Is there anyone on the pitch that isn't? Even Messi is throwing himself around like a ponce. Iniesta doesn't count cos he isn't human hence him being ridiculously pasty white despite coming from Spain.

Did Mourinho really gouge Vilanova in the eye? If so, that has to be just a straight ban from any sort of football involvement for a few months because that's a disgrace.

    Seen the picture, dirty bastard:

Wow, that is absolutely disgraceful. I watched the game last night and at the time it looked like Mourinho twisted Vilanova's ear in a rather playful way. And the commentators certainly didn't pick up on the seriousness of Mourinho's actions; they were more concerned with Mourinho smiling and blowing a kiss to Vilanova.

He should definitely be banned for a month or two for that, if not longer. There's absolutely no room for that, especially from a manager. You can see in the picture that he knows exactly what he's doing, and to smile and laugh about it afterwards is even worse.

In rugby, the minimum ban for eye-gouging is twelve weeks, but that's at the lower end of the scale. The ban can be for as long as three years.

I, like most people, used to find Mourinho really entertaining. The Real job seems to have turned him a bit mental though. Some of his and his team's antics have been really disgraceful.

On a similar note, is Pepe now scientifically proven to be the dirtiest player in Europe? Absolute disgrace from him last night, especially the elbow smash on Messi...could've been so dangerous.

Barcelona were the dirtier team last night and have been for quite a few of the recent Madrid-Barca games. The constant feigning of injuries, time wasting and other snide tactics are far more off-putting to me as a fan of football than Madrid going in hard on a few challenges.

I don't think that's true. Yeah, they feign injury and dive sometimes but Real do it just as much, if not more. And add in the regular terrible challenge, always get someone sent off and generally disgrace themselves. Challenges like Marcelo last night, Pepe on Messi and Ramos on Messi last year are designed to injure players. Awful stuff.

Marcelo's challenge wasn't that bad, for fuck sake. The most disgraceful thing about that challenge was the Barca bench spilling out onto the pitch in the aftermath. What the fuck is that shite all about?

Madrid are also a bunch of dirty bastards, but Barca's total cuntishness seems to go unnoticed in these discussions.

And Madrid players might dive just as much, but they certainly didn't last night.

Probably because Barca didn't put in any remotely bad challenges compared to the Real ones.

Come on, the Marcelo challenge was a shocker. He went out to hurt they player there. And Adriano was basically used as a punchbag when he came on.

I don't think Barca's cuntishness does go unnoticed. People are always moaning about the theatrics from Alves, Pedro and Biscuits (and rightly so). Not to mention the way the likes of Valdes and Villa pile in to every argument going. They're not whiter than white, but I really don't think they're anywhere near as bad as Real.

As previously mentioned by a few people, the attention gets drawn on the fact that some of the Real players 'tackle' with the view to injuring someone. It's not even an attempt to get the ball. Barca do wind up the Real players with their theatrics, but a professional shouldn't aim to injure another one full stop. (Sorry Roy, I still love you though!)

(Real collectively) It's like a spoilt child not getting their way and spitting the dummy out. I think it's pathetic. Mourinho brought the same mentality to Chelsea when he was there. Toys out of the pram everytime they got beaten. I think there has been at least 8 different players sent off under Mourinho when they've played Barca alone. I don't think it's a coincidence that it happens against the worlds best playing football team.

KMH just has the hump with Barca because every time they play each other United get destroyed. Saying Barca are dirtier than Real has no basis in reality whatsoever - yes they dive, but no moreso than Real AND Real put in far more really snide, nasty tackles.

Having said that, over these two games I think Real have looked far closer to Barca than at any point in the past few years - stopping them from playing their passing game and pummelling them, forcing them to play on the break rather than suffocating the opposition. Could be a very interesting season this year, although if Messi continues as he has started the season then he could be the difference yet again.

There's no arguing that Madrid put in the nastier tackles. But it seems like in EVERY game, its the cunts at Barca who first bait the reaction. And they usually do it when they're already winning too.

Busquets aside, I don't think Barca do dive any more than any other side. They do it against Real Madrid, but that has to be viewed in the context that going back several years now, Madrid's primary tactic has been to basically kick the shit out of every Barca player, particularly Lionel Messi and even moreso since Mourinho took over. Even in the games they have been smacked around by Barca they have put in some awful challenges (last season's 5-0, Sergio Ramos near the end). I'd rather Barca didn't dive or exaggerate contact, but I see it as their response to Madrid's persistent, systematic fouling and attempts to injure players. I have a feeling there's a fair bit of contrarianism from some quarters as a sort of backlash against Barcelona, as outside of the Madrid games and Busquets aside, they certainly don't behave that badly. The CL final they were exemplary, both teams were, and that was a huge game.

Even being a fat wee shite as he currently is, his second goal was immense. On the stretch, a volley and about 3 foot off the ground... Awesome!

    The Rest

They obviously have major issues with each other, which seems to have gotten worse as Real have spent massive dough on bringing in some superstars and only having a domestic cup to show for it, as of yet.

Real's reaction to being beaten by Barca is, without a shadown of a doubt and irrespective of what goading goes on, completely and utterly pathetic. Stay on your feet Real and there's no problem. It reeks of immaturity and lack of class!

    *EDIT*
Mourinho is a cunt. If he escapes without a 5 match ban, bringing the game into disrepute, actual bodily harm... whatever, then it's a complete joke. I'm sick of his constant bullshit

It's complete hypocrisy because if it was Redknapp, Wenger or basically anyone else I would want them hung, but I do really enjoy Mourinho being such a complete wanker. He's a panto villain, every dickhead act he commits just makes everything more entertaining.

It maybe got a little too much last season where the fighting and fouling were so bad it got in the way of the football in that run of Clasico matches, but in general there is little better than a good ruck to ensure the game is played at a high tempo and kept exciting.

I have to disagree. If you want rucks then play the Dunmurry Mens League. I want to watch Barca and Real play football, the way they are capable of, and score 6 goals in every game between them. The first leg of the SuperCup was the best football these two teams played vs each other in years, in my opinion.

That's a stupid thing to say. I said that Barcelona are a dirty team when the game is going against them; I have no complaints whatsoever about how they play against United because, unlike Madrid, we were never close to getting a result. I have no bitterness towards Barca, they are a much better team than United and will be for the foreseeable future. I really don't see how me saying that they behave just as deplorably as Madrid in these games is an indication that I have the 'hump'.

Furthermore, your post a couple of pages back, made right at the end of the game:

    Basically, you are an idiot.

They do feign injury. But so do Madrid. 20 minutes of one game doesn't mean they do it five times as often as Madrid. And, as has already been said, while it sounds like a cop out it IS more legitimate for Barca to be 'emphasising' fouls because Madrid DO kick the shit out of them.

If your comments weren't out of bitterness or jealousy then I apologise, but they still aren't justifiable on any objective level.

I've already said that Madrid are a bunch of dirty bastards. Di Maria, in particular, is a player I can't stand. Diving, banana-faced cunt. In regards to their style of play, they are a Mourinho team. Barca also pulled the same tactics against Inter in the champions league in 2009; maybe it is merely a case of emphasizing 'fouls', but I do wonder how people (especially you) would react if Arsenal pulled similar tricks away at Stoke for instance.

I just think Barca get away with a lot of shit because they are such a fantastic football team. I honesty don't blame Mourinho for pulling negative tactics against them (he didn't in the super cup, but then Madrid were further ahead in their pre-season) because he knows that all things equal Barca would win 9 times out of 10. There is nothing wrong with hard but fair tackles, and I don't think Madrid deliberately set out to overstep that mark even if they have done a couple of times in recent games. This is the difference between them and Barca who in the super cup games feigned injuries, dived, wasted time and hauled in their ball-boys for the second half. All very snide, and very conscious, attempts at ruining what was, for once, a difficult game for them.

Madrid have been kicked Barca about the pitch before Mourinho was there. What Mourinho has done is ramp up the personal attacks and sheer venom behind the games. He's behaved quite disgracefully, that eye gouge is simply indefensible. What is also different is that Madrid have a much better side now that should be able to compete on the pitch, yet you see players like Xabi Alonso reduced to pulls, trips and sly kicks and barely playing the ball at all. In essense what this does is risk exposing Mourinho's tactical brain as a sham if he can't get the better off Barcelona by playing football. If any side in the world have the personnel, it's Real Madrid.

It's not been mentioned much but Alves got monkey chants at the Bernabeu and Marcelo got monkey chants at the Camp Nou. That is also truly pathetic. Both coaches should come out and condemn it, but the hatred between the two sides right now is poisoning the atmosphere off the pitch and they're too busy bitching about each other.

Do you not think Madrid went at Barcelona by playing football during the Super Cup? I'd say they were the better team over the two legs, but like most sides, couldn't stop Barcelona from scoring whenever the game shifted in their favour. To be honest, I don't think there's much a manager can do when up against a player like Messi.

It was certainly a far more adventurous performance from Madrid then we normally see in games against Barca. They even watered the Bernabeu pitch prior to the first leg, something that is totally at odds with the way Madrid have tried to beat Barca in previous games.

Yeah but as you said I think fitness has a big part to play in that. Barca clearly aren't in the same condition as Real right now and that makes a difference when it comes to the pressing game. It was noticable at the start of last season too that Barca looked really sluggish, I thought maybe it was the World Cup, but a few games in they just took off. Apparently it's done on purpose to get the team in peak condition in the run-up to Christmas or whatever, but it is apparent that they have always started pretty slowly under Guardiola, struggling to win and even losing some pretty straightforward games right at the beginning of the season.

I didn't see the second half of the Nou Camp tie, actually. Only saw the first game and the first half of the second. To be honest, I thought they were top quality games and didn't notice much badness from either team.

    Spot on.

I said this a couple of years ago, Barcelona as a club is severely lacking in class yet nobody wants to admit it.

    Again, I don't think that's true.

A lot of people have always criticised Busquets, Pedro and Alves for their antics. I think there was a real change after the Champions League tie too. Pretty much everyone condemned both teams for the farce it turned into. Barca were criticised for their diving, ref hassling and time wasting. Also many pundits and observers have been rightly critical of the ridiculous way the club have gone after Cesc Fabregas.

There seems to be so many people who go around criticising Barca these days. On the back of any amazing performance they seem obsessed to point out a dive or some theatrics like they're the worst club in the world for it. I feel sorry for them. Just sit back and enjoy the best football team of our generation. Yeah they show a lack of class at times, but there's not a single team in the world who don't show a lack of class from time to time. Just because they're the best in the world they shouldn't be saddled with a responsibility to be whiter than white. If some sections of the media want to label them as that, fair enough, but I don't think they've ever claimed to be whiter than white.
