Sounds like you're writing Pyle off. I think he'll actually get the win.

Pyle has won 3 of his last 4 .. Paulo has lost 2 of his last 3 .. I think its a pretty fair match in a crowded division.

I'm just thinking if Hunt can do as well as he did against Rothwell, then a fight with Kongo might be an even easier win simply because Kongo might be arrogant and not even go for takedowns, then get KO'd by Hunt in the stand up.

I think part of that was Rothwell not fighting in so long and more than likely not expecting to have to block any takedowns at all cuz let's be honest.. it was pretty surprising to see Hunt go for takedowns. I think he'll have a harder time getting Kongo down.

They were also at high elevation in Denver and Rothwell looked like he was about to shit rocks he was so exhausted. Ugh what a stinker of a fight.

I like that fight. Bader is like Matt Hamill but with a decent shot of landing a miracle punch. Rampage's takedown defense is incredible and I think Bader is going to be terribly overwhelmed in the standup.

Would love a big Rampage win. But knocking out Bader is a bit underwhelming now.

I think its still a good win. Keep in mind, Rampage has pretty much fought everyone else in the top 10 too. Bader was 5-0 in the UFC before Jones/Tito.. now he's 6-2. That's still pretty good. I'd still have him top 10 @ 205 in the UFC.

I really want to see Bisping/Maia and Mayhem/Dan Miller!

Tony Ferguson is looking pretty spiffy. I'd throw him a bone and let him move up to someone like Dennis Hallman (if he wins this weekend) or maybe even someone like Seth Baczynski with a little bit of momentum.

Jesus, you're right! I didn't even realize that Ferguson won TUF by stopping all of his opponents in the weight class above his!

It happens a lot on TUF really, guys fighting above their weight class to get a shot.

Probably helps a bit cuz with all the shit going on in that house.. its probably nice not to worry about your weight.

So with gsp/diaz off ..that means condit/koscheck is off too. Who should koscheck get? I still like the 185lb. idea myself. Do Koscheck/Mayhem.

Hmm that's a thought, that hadn't even crossed my mind but I like it. Mayhem surely wouldn't be ready by February though so I reckon they'd have to take Kos off the 143 card altogether if they decided to go that route.

When is Rory Mac supposed to be back? I'd love to see him vs Kos.

I think that in Ferguson's case, he made the cut to 155 after winning TUF. He's had a few fights at 155 prior but mostly at welterweight. 155 suits him, though. Dangerous boxer.

Exactly man, I'm tellin ya the UFC has it out for some fighters. Gomi's fought nothing but sick grapplers and to be honest he was lucky in that Tyson Griffin fight. It's like with Sexyama fighting Jake Shields in his first fight @ 170, seriously? That's almost a lose-lose for Shields in the sense that if he wins oh well, Sexyama hasn't really been racking up any victories and if he loses that's a 3rd loss in a row which is DAMAGING.

Its AKIYAMA .. he's a god in japan. They can't match him up with a scrub. It pretty much has to be a marquee matchup since its in japan. You act like akiyama is worthless or something. He isn't really DOOMED against shields. He has better striking and good takedown defense (really good actually) and amazing balance.. it wont be a cakewalk for shields. Win or lose, every fight akiyama has been in (and at 185) was and deserved to be fight of the night. He's very capable and very fun to watch.

..and beating akiyama in japan is a winning situation for anyone.

I didn't say anything about him not being good or should be matched up with a scrub. He's being matched up with one of the ELITE WW's when if you ask me Sexyama should be fighting someone the middle tier similar to how he came in and fought Belcher and Leben @ MW. To the Japanese fans, Jake Shields beating Sexyama might be a huge win but to everyone else who hasn't seen Akiyama realistically win a single fight in the 4 fights he's had in the UFC it'll look like a confidence builder for Shields. If Shields LOSES, that's a huge blow to him and possibly a ticket to Bellator.

And who knows what kind of performance a guy cutting weight for the first time in his life will put on against someone like Jake Shields of all people? This isn't a striker like Sexy's last 4 opponents. He's lucky the UFC are going to Japan, dude is 1-4, not exactly a great record for someone's who biggest win was a KO against Denis Kang.

I don't know. Gomi has been getting subbed left and right but in every case it was a result of him being battered on the feet first. G-Sot's hands aren't all that great and we've seen that his chin isn't exactly made of iron.

If I were a betting man I'd probably still be leaning towards G-Sot but I don't think the fight is going to play out like Gomi vs Florian/Guida/Diaz bros did.

Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't these 2 rumored to fight awhile back? Like 2 years ago or something and we were all like "ah what a step down that it is for Kos blah blah blah". Weird how things evolve, interesting fight, and I think it's going to be a good win for Kos.

Yeah, the first Fight Night of 2010 he was meant to fight him, but Koscheck got moved to fight Anthony Johnson to "save" UFC 106 and Pierce lost to Jon Fitch at 107. It's still an odd fight for Koscheck since Pierce doesn't have a particularly good record, no big wins and isn't entertaining, but whatever.

Ya, Kos/Pierce is a little lackluster. I was really hoping for Kos/Rory Mac. Wish they would have gone that route seeing how Rory is apparantly going to be ready by March anyways. They could have just taken Kos off 143 and let him fight the following month.

It's just a keep busy fight for Koscheck, I suspect he'll be back in there against one of the losers of Ellenberger/Sanchez or Diaz/Condit, or Hendricks should he beat Fitch. There's no point putting MacDonald against a beast like Koscheck yet, he still has the years to grow his game and name before throwing him in with the sharks.

Fair enough regarding MacDonald but he's been given a slow course as it is. He was seconds from beating Condit, and after manhandling Nate and Pyle you'd think he'd be given more of a step up than Che Mills. Not trying to write Mills off as a can or anything but Rory Mac isn't Chris Cope and I don't see how Mills won't be going into that fight as a heavy underdog and rightfully so.

He's somebody who they want to have as the torchbearer in Canada once St-Pierre is gone though, so he's not somebody they'll want to risk.

Absolutely. With as dominant as Bedford was, I'm not surprised. It's like Charles Oliviera. Hey you beat Efrain Escudero... here's Jim Miller. Sorry about your luck.

To quote Adam DeMamp from Workaholics:

    OH I LIKE THAT!

That's a really really good fight. Werdum has the edge in grappling, probably even on the stand up, fuck this is a good fight and I'm not even really a fan of either guy just a fan of top 10 HW's banging it out.

Ya, I like it too. Kinda came out of left field to be honest but I'm glad Shaub didn't get his wish in Werdum. He is a mid-tier HW at best but seems to have bought into his own hype.

He got rehired. I like Gonzaga, at his best he is a savage, he just needs to sharpen up his striking defence and he could be a top 10 guy.

He lost confidence in himself after JDS shellacked him I think. There's no reason why a bull like Gonzaga can't take Schaub down and submit him, but he looked fat and weak.

I credit that fight and his following fight with Cro Cop for Schaub's head blowing up to the point of genuinely calling out top 10 fighters. Schaub is shit and like you said had no business beating Gabe.

Schaub is not shit, he beat who he beat without any sort of controversy. Flat KO's as far as I remember.

He got his ass fucked up by the big boys in Nelson and Nog, but Gonzaga was never more than a tin can contender so his stint was well and truly overrated while Schaub's is being completely underrated.

Schaub could easily KO the likes of Struve. I'd love to see him fight Mitrione though. Maybe that's a fight that needs looking at?

Mitrione has the power, Schaub supposedly has the technique...at this point I'd go Mitrione by KO.

He TKOd a couple of cans and then got a decision against a terrible looking Gonzaga. Cro Cop was eating him alive until Schaub was able to land a good shot to the temple, and at that point knocking Mirko out wasn't impressive anymore especially when he was kicking your ass for 3 rounds leading up to it.

He is a mid-tier HW, right at the level of Struve if not below it. Yet that doesn't stop him from calling out top ten HWs.

Cro Cop was not eating him alive. The live play-by-play on Sherdog gave Schaub Rd 1 unanimously and Rd 2 from 2 of the 3 judges. MMAJunkie.com scored both of the first 2 rounds for Schaub also.

The play by play I was reading had Cro Cop holding his own, sounded like a good fight actually, more interesting than Mir/Cro Cop. Schaub is hungry and calling out bigger names is what you should be doing. I remember Alan Belcher and Terry Martin calling out Anderson Silva, that's what they should be doing. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Maybe not the champ if you for sure haven't really done much but Schaub for example wanting a crack @ Werdum isn't exactly "absurd". Werdum's fought guys in Strikeforce sans Fedor that were around the same ranking as Schaub.

So if you were the UFC, who would you put up against Gilbert Melendez? Is he next in line after Edgar/Bendo, or does he fight someone like Gray Maynard, Clay Guida, etc. and then get a crack? I say if he doesn't get the winner of Edgar/Bendo his next fight should 111110% be against a top 5 UFC LW. There's no one else in Strikeforce that matters, no one but Gilbert is ranked in that company anyway.

I would ship someone like a Guida or Maynard over to Strikeforce to challenge Gil. If he takes out that guy I would like to see him vs whoever the UFC LW champ is by then.

Someone wrote an article about why shipping BJ Penn over there just for that one fight might be the best bet. I'm not sure I agree with it. Penn hasn't won either of his last 2 bouts and Gil isn't exactly a name. It would be great for Strikeforce, but not so good for BJ.

I think Donald Cerrone is the man for the job. He clearly wants to do whatever he can to improve his position and if Ben Henderson wins the belt, they probably won't give him a THIRD chance to beat Bendo, even if it is a different organization. Here's hoping that Nate Diaz doesn't derail his momentum next week.

Gray Maynard would also be good options. They DEFINITELY won't be doing a 4th installment of Edgar/Maynard anytime soon.

Jim Miller and Clay Guida are excellent options but coming off of losses. I can't justify anybody getting a title shot after a loss.

You can't stand Cerrone more than Diaz? Why?

I think that the reality is Gilbert v. the winner of the LW title fight would be a great fight but I can see why most would want him to fight a top 5 guy rather than the champ due to SF's lack of top 10 LW's challenging Gilbert. He did beat Aoki, that's a huge win and he's fought tough dudes like Punk and that other Japanese cat he had fought before, so idk I could see either way being awesome.

Because he's a douche. The Diaz brothers talk shit, but ONLY to and about the guys they're getting ready to fight. It's their fight mentality and it's completely understandable. They're about to fight, they don't want to be buddy-buddy with their opponent. Outside of their upcoming fights they are always almost always cordial and respectful in their interviews.

Cerrone on the other hand talks shit just to talk shit whether he's about to fight the guy or not. About people in lower weight classes no less. He called out Nam Phan for God's sake, because he apparantly didn't like how happy he was for beating his friend Leonard Garcia. He has a high school cliq mentality and it makes me nauseous.

He's a good fighter, not taking that away from him, but again he's a douche and I hope Diaz chokes him unconscious.

So you don't like him because he called out Nam Phan, who has fought @ 155 (remember TUF?), for beating his training partner? Dude that's nothing new, why do you think Ricardo Almeida wanted to fight Matt Hughes? Because he whipped Renzo's ass and beat Matt Serra. That shit happens quite a bit....

You'll make any excuse to avoid admitting you are reaching by saying Cerrone is a bigger douche than Nate or Nick Diaz. CBS. Cuz I mean yeah dude, at 24 he's so fucking mature lol. Give me a break dude, Cerrone is way more respectful than the Diaz brothers will ever be. He doesn't sit around crying about not making GSP money beating Scott Smith and Kurt Pellegrino.

He's 26 and yes there is a huge difference in maturity between 21 and 26. Even then, I'm not making excuses or pretending Nate's a saint. The point is he always gets shit for being a "douche" despite the fact that he's usually pretty cordial just not in regards to his upcoming opponents. Watch an interview or two of his with your hater glasses off and you'll see it. Cerrone on the other hand flies under the radar somehow and people don't seem to knock on him for what an obnoxious dickhead he really is.

So ya, Cerrone's more of a douche than Nate and I hope by the end of their fight he's sleeping.

Nate was on TUF 5 years ago? Damn time is FLYING.

So because Cerrone called out Nam Phan that makes him a douche? That's all you've got bro. You know why he's under the radar? Take off your Diaz's-balls-on-my-chin mask and compare the 2. *cough* CBS *cough* Diaz thinks he's hard cuz he's from Stockton, which honestly is a tough place to grow up, but so is Omaha, NE....

No it was your only example and a whack example at that. A guy challenges someone who beat a training partner of his=a douche yet someone along with his camp ruin a CBS deal for an up and coming promotion and he's above it? Come on dude, this dude is a fuckin douchebag and that's why people like to see the Diaz brothers just like they like to see Tito. But saying Cerrone is a bigger douchebag than this dude because dude called out Nam Phan?

Maybe you're thinking Cerrone talking shit to Jamie Varner or Mac Danzig was done out of thin air and don't realize those 2 fags were talkin shit first sayin they were above him.

This coming from the guy who bases all of his opinions on generalizing other people's opinions to suit his argument. As a bunch of mature and knowledgable MMA fans, do we really need to talk about having certain fighters nuts on our chin in an attempt to make a point?

He's guilty of having a pack mentality and I never disputed that. But if you're gonna call anybody a douche out that fiasco it should probably be Mayhem, and maybe Nick Diaz for throwing the first punch. Nate just followed suit, I don't hear you calling Gilbert Melendez a douche and he had more stake in it than Nate did.

And I'm not mad, but don't insult anyone's intelligence by trying to pretend you aren't a blind Chael hater. You jump on every opportunity you can find to talk shit about him despite him doing nothing more than playing a heel character. You said yourself when you saw him on MMA Live that he was decent and humble, well guess what, that's how Chael Sonnen is when he's not playing a role. Being such a fan of WWE I would expect you to understand that but instead you get completely riled up in your hate every time he opens his mouth.

I like Nate and Nick as much as anybody... but they kinda have a high school clique mentality more than any fighters I've ever seen.

You do remember the SF brawl?

Ya, the Diaz bros definitely have their their moments, Nick moreso than Nate. But acting like Cerrone is a saint while calling Diaz a douche in the same sentence is absurd. At least with Nate you know what you're getting up front.

Thy're both dickheads. But they're fighters, and good ones, so I don't really care.

Yes because it's funny as hell.

Mark the reason I'm not talking about the others in detail (remember I did include the others just not by name) is because we're comparing Nate Diaz and Donald Cerrone....why the fuck would I talk about Mayhem and the others in detail? Cuz you know, that's what you should do on live t.v. is stomp a dude who simply hopped over the cage. And you're bitching about Cerrone having a pack mentality?

No I'm bitching at you because you seem to have the idea that Nate is more of a douche than Cerrone. This argument is fucking old though and you're thick so let's talk about something else please.

I'm thick because you contradicted yourself like 4 times in that argument? The point you're trying to get across to me is that what Nate Diaz does is irrelevant if it doesn't make him look better than Cerrone. You flat out said the reason you don't like Cerrone is because of Nam Phan and the HS pack mentality, yet when I brought up the CBS situation, a clear example of pack mentality from Nate Diaz, you back off and insult me. Not to mention putting words in my mouth "acting like Cerrone is a saint" then calling me a nuthugger of his without zero proof, oh the proof being I think Diaz is by far a bigger douchebag. Notice how no one is backing you up with any proof or situations or interviews from Cerrone acting like a dildo?

    With that said....

I didn't even see this but the fact is you obviously do not pay attention to the reasons I've given countless times as to why I don't like Chael.

I even pointed out that if Chael acted the way he did on MMA Live and cut out the racism, bigotry, homophobia, then he'd be a person I'd cheer for. I don't give a shit if he's "playing the heel" or not, the fact is I've made it very clear as to why I don't like him. The fact you're obviously the blind one in this situation isn't my fault. Source @ BjPenn.com talking about Dan Hardy wanting to fight Matt Hughes next....I honestly didn't even realize Hardy was on a 4-fight losing streak and STILL employed by the UFC. Jardine has to be wondering why his bukake negotiations didn't work to get his 5th fight but it apparently did for Dan "Bigger douche than Nate Diaz" Hardy.

So, does Fitch get a shot at the Interim champion if he wins on Friday? I'd be gutted if he doesn't.

Why should he? In the last 2 years, he will have wins over Johny Hendricks, Thiago Alves and Ben Saunders. Doesn't exactly scream "title contender". He also hasn't finished ANYONE since his title shot against GSP. Oh yeah... and he has no wins in 2011 yet.

    On the other hand:
Jake Ellenberger is ALSO on a 5 fight win streak. He has stoppage wins in 4 of those bouts, including Jake fucking Shields. 3 of those wins were in 2011. If Ellenberger wins his next fight, he's also got a win over Diego Sanchez.

Beating Jake Shields is a bigger accomplishment than beating Thiago Alves. Ellenberger has bigger wins, stoppage wins, hunts for the finish and just as long of a streak going. He also has a contentious split decision loss over a guy who is in the interim title fight.

Also, Jake Ellenberger hasn't refused to fight another contender.

Sometimes I just read a thread in the mma forum and I think of my response and then at the end I see Mark Hammer and he has said it all already.

What a player, what a team.

    Merry Christmas!

Gray Maynard vs Clay Guida at UFC 145.

Guida's about to be on a two-fight losing streak.
