I suppose maybe he wanted them to win as he wanted Anakin and wanted rid of Dooku, but either way, I think it works. It makes for a nice contrast to Jedi when he's watching the fight without having to conceal his true feelings.
I still don't get it myself. It seems so incredibly out of place to have him suddenly become this old man acting as if he were egging on a boxing match. It's hardly the time for being excited, in his role as Palpatine he should be deeply concerned about his own fate and that of the galaxy rather than having fun, and as Sidious he should be trying to keep as low a profile as possible while willing his favourite new apprentice to get rid of the old one. It just baffled me. I would argue it doesn't contrast Jedi particularly well either, though that's perhaps what Lucas was aiming for and I didn't think of that. The trouble is, he's pretty much acting the same in both situations, pleased at the fight and willing his new apprentice to kill the old one. It's just that in Jedi, despite having to make no effort to hide his glee, he's far more subtle.

Sidious enjoys a good show. Behind his cold calculating eyes is a mad man ultimately waiting to get out. He enjoyed pitting father against son and he enjoyed dangling 100 feet in the air off of a senate pod.

I miss when you could put "In" in front of a Sith Name and it formed a new word...

    Like In-Vader, or In-Sidious...
Maul should have been Darth Victus, Dooku should have been Count Digo, and Grievous should have been General Gredients...

I wouldn't touch that piece of shit with a 10 ft. pole.

Even the one that he was zapped with when he returned to the Gungan City.

This isn't based on anything, but you know what I'd like for Lucas's next revision of the trilogy? Convert it to 3D and re-release it in theaters. That would be a great way to not only give some touchups to it (which he'll do no matter what), but could bring in a lot of money with the current 3D trend.

No chance he doesn't take that opportunity to fuck with the movies. I say just leave them as is.

    For God's sake.

I can see him replacing one of the Red/Rogue Squadron pilots with Jar-Jar. Probably Wedge, since he doesn't die.

Isn't Jar Jar supposed to be the one in ROTJ during Naboo's celebration that shouts "wesa freeeeeeeee"? If so, then he technically is in the OT.

Yeah... Lucas put him in Jedi...

I will say this for 3D, the Death Star trench would be really fun to watch. And it could add to the existing box office totals... Not that I want something to approach Cameron's monopoly or anything...

I wonder if it would just be the OT or if they'd bother releasing the prequels in 3D as well. The opening battle of Revenge of the Sith would be quite spectacular in 3D I imagine, and the duel in TPM, but I'm not sure at this point people would be clamouring to see the new movies again.

I'm pretty sure Star Wars in 3D is a rumor I started. I've heard absolutely nothing that actually official in the slightest about it.

I just want the OT back in theaters again. And with 3D ticket prices, it can add a nice total to the box office of the films.

I think it fits only because Obi-Wan is knocked out, he has nothing to hide at that point. Dooku knows who he is, and Anakin thinks of him as the guy who really likes him and wants him to do well.

If Dooku is to understand why Palpatine is cheering for Anakin, then wouldn't that mean he understands that Palpatine expects Anakin to win? Otherwise, why would Palps keep up the pretence that he's on the Republic's side? Still, he's the Chancellor of the entire galaxy, in the midst of an intricate balancing act where his decades-long plan is about to come to fruition (and in character, so to speak, he's just been captured by the enemy and the entire war hinges on this one operation), and he starts cheering like he's at a football game. It's bizarre to me.

Sith apprentice routinely kill their masters, yet Sith Lords will always take one as part of the cycle, and perhaps out of the ignorance that it won't happen to them. Dooku should've known there was always the possibility that Sideous would replace him were a more powerful being to come around. I don't think he truly realized his master would turn on him on account of hubris, a conclusion I came to given his pompous attitude throughout AotC.

I firmly believe Sideous' giddy reactions during Anakin/Dooku II were a result of his realization that he was about to assume the control of a far more powerful apprentice. The display Anakin put on, Sideous' first real viewing of his abilities, turned on the Sith Lord, who, remember, gets his energy from passion.

Speaking of the ATs, why did the AT-TE (the predecessor of the AT-AT) seem far more functional? It goes back to my point of prequel technology looking superior to that of the original trilogy.

I'm all for having the 'roots of technology' but you don't have stuff look better than what's coming 30 years later. It's common fucking sense.

I know, I know, common sense wasn't really what the prequels were about.

    vs.

Because the technology WAS better. After the death of the Jedi the system went into a kind of downturn where nothing new was made or anything and so everything aged and thus got crappy. All the fancy shit was destroyed and so they were stuck with the old useful stuff.

If we hit a new dark-age for the world the technology would go backwards and not forward. How hard is it to at least figure this'd be the same?

It wasn't a dark age for anything more than a tyrannical ruling empire. There's no indication that technology was suffering.

Even if the 'fancy' stuff was destroyed, surely they had the capability to rebuild it?

    Besides your complaint above

There's nothing to suggest technology wasn't suffering There's actually more indication to suggest it was such as the complaint you had before and the idea that if the Empire is building a Death Star then I doubt they'd want another iDeathstar put out by Apple.

It's suffering because as at#s put it, George Lucas got caught up in the technology he had available when he made the prequels. I seriously doubt the difference in vehicles had anything to do with the Star Wars universe, itself.

To be fair, that's largely because the iDeathstar can't use its shield generator and its death beam at the same time...

I give Lucas and company the suspension of disbelief when it comes to superior PT technology over OT technology. And with the battle droids it sorta is explained away. Clearly in the OT the galaxy had had enough of that technology and thus why destroyer droids and hailfire droids weren't rolling around. Some even like the bartender in the cantina couldn't stand protocol droids.

Of course the thought of a Droideka mowing down an ewok would have given me a smile.

Droids being replaced with Clones (and eventually conscripts) I can understand. Droids had a huge weak point in requiring a control ship and organic beings tended to best them in combat anyway if they had a little skill. Once Clones became available, they were potentially cheaper and definitely better than droids... plus a huge number of the droids were destroyed in the fake Separatist war.

Things like the AT-AT and TIE fighter being far less fancy than prequel counterparts I can understand to an extent. Once the Empire began expanding its war machine, it really needed a lot of hardware built quickly in order to maintain control of the galaxy, especially with the Republic's peace-keeping force utterly wiped out. Thus, we get an era of things mass produced for raw function, making them appear much less sophisticated than prequel-era technology. However, I seriously doubt Lucas gave it this much thought when he realised he could make walkers look all fancy now we were beyond stop-motion animation.

My biggest prequel tech complaint would have been that they didn't have the Rebellion tech as the choice of the times. The Rebellion would be fairly limited in terms of what weaponry they could acquire, so that tells me (as did the faded paint jobs in the OT) that they got outdated tech.

PT should have been full of OT tech. Like where Anakin and Obi Wan flew the not-quite-X-Wings at the start of EP 3, they should have had the actual thing. Sure fire mark out moment for the crowd, too. The one piece of OT tech they showed (the blockaide runner) got a MASSIVE response at every screening of 3 that I've seen.

I agree with that. I really wish there had been more Rebellion tech around. Anakin and Obi-Wan in shiny new X-Wings would've been terrific. The audience would've went mental for them opening their s-foils, I'm sure.

I always figured the death of the republic and the rise of the empire brought with it some hard economic times. As someone said above, the Empire expands, and relies on cheap, simple equipment. In the Prequels we're seeing the boom time for the galaxy and in the OT we're seeing the hard times after the fall.

I agree that the Empire would have brought hard economic times but I wouldn't say the prequels were at a boom period for the galaxy. The Republic had been there for a thousand years and had grown unwieldy, politically corrupt and by Attack of the Clones was literally falling apart. The stagnation of the Republic and the Jedi were basically their downfall, yet artistically everything looked so clean and new and expensive. Every setting was like this except Tatooine, which was the only place (other than the Tantive IV, which was brand new in Episode III anyway) which drew its look from the OT. I really missed the lived-in universe feeling I got from the original films. All the new settings just seemed kind of soul-less and artificial.

I appreciate the deep thought put into this and the idea that the empire simple needed to crudely manufacture as many war machines as possible to govern the empire makes a lot of sense, but come on. Lucas has not put as much thought into this as the people in this thread have.

They address a lot of these issues from time to time in the Clone Wars cartoon. The last episode was actually about Padme trying to get a bill passed to stop more Clone Troopers from being created because the Republic couldn't afford to do so and it would only prolong the war.

Obviously. That was the point we were making.

I see that as basically fan ret-conning since it doesn't come from Lucas, who was the one who decided to make everything look so much more fancy 30 years before A New Hope. It helps, though, and that sounds like an interesting episode.

Two books that I would recommend fans should read are Cloak of Deception and Labyrinth of Evil both by James Luceno. They both hold back on the liberties and do all they can to support the Prequel Trilogy movies.

Of all the books I've read, they're the most complimentary to the films as you can get.

Replace the chair with the Emperors throne and it would be the most glorious set of furniture in the history of ever. I could probably fit my master replica lightsaber on it too.

Someone do a poll of the favourite Star Wars character. It would be interesting.

When I was a kid and I had all the toys my favourite was Boba Fett by a mile. He just looked so cool. Shame he had the worst death ever. Or did he die? I read somewhere that he flew out of it but it was a deleted scene.

A Barve Like That: The Tale of Boba Fett

"You don't eat a barve like that all at once."
    ―Boba, to Susejo

But the Sarlacc could never hold Fett. After conversing with a fellow captive, the Choi known as Susejo, Fett discovered that this being was actually psychologically connected to the Sarlacc—and it was this advantage that he used to goad the creature into contracting around his jet pack, igniting the device and providing his means of escape. The resulting explosion, combined with the beast's acidic stomach juices, left Fett on the verge of death. As he lay dying on the surface of Tatooine, his colleague Dengar was searching for anything valuable left from the explosion, but found Boba Fett instead, and nursed him back to health.

Dengar and Fett would become good friends, the infamous Fett even serving as Dengar's best man during his wedding to Manaroo. In return for this rescue, Fett allowed Dengar to accompany him on a labyrinthine mission involving the Bounty Hunters' Guild and Prince Xizor's ultra-secret Black Sun. Fett learned of Xizor's involvement with the deaths of Owen and Beru Lars, the uncle and aunt of Luke Skywalker. His search led him to Neelah, who knew about the conspiracy. With so many potential leads, Boba eventually found out the head of the serpent was wealthy industrialist Kuat of Kuat. For the mission, Fett stole the freighter Hound's Tooth from his rival Bossk, leaving Slave I behind drifting in space. After arriving in the shipyards, Kuat wired the entire construction docks with explosives. Fett flew the Hound's Tooth into the exploding construction area, where he found Kuat inside one of the larger ships waiting for his imminent death. After a series of questions about the bombing raid on Jabba's palace, Boba made Kuat leave the ship. Fett managed to pilot the ship into the vacuum of space. In the aftermath Kuat was killed by the explosions, but Fett managed to save the shipyards from serious damage. At approximately the same time, word spread that the Rebel Alliance had defeated the Empire in the Battle of Endor, an event that would change Fett's life forever.

At a point after this, Fett fell in the sarlacc again, which regurgitated him out. Fett was found by a group of Jawas who took him to be either a droid or cyborg, never bothering to scan him, and claimed him as their own under the impression he was an unintelligent being. They took him into their sandcrawler, fitted him with a restraining bolt, and went on their way. He was later joined by a familiar face when the Jawas stole R2-D2 from a hangar bay in Mos Eisley.
Fett waking up after his second escape from the Sarlacc.

R2-D2 immediately recognized Fett, but the meeting was interrupted as Han Solo and Leia Organa attacked the sandcrawler in an attempt to get R2 back. It was at this point that Fett awoke for the first time since being freed from the Sarlacc, just in time to see Solo enter the sandcrawler in his attempt to rescue R2. Unfortunately, the sandcrawler had been damaged during Han's attempts to enter it and so was on a collision course with the Sarlacc. The Jawas were too busy to fix it, as they had just been attacked by Tusken Raiders. Solo was as surprised as R2 had been to find Fett alive once more, but somehow Fett had temporarily lost his memory and in fact helped Solo rescue R2 from the doomed sandcrawler. Though against his better judgment, Solo then tried to help Fett escape also, as he couldn't leave a helpless man to die.

Unfortunately for Fett, it was at this point that his memory came back due to Leia shouting Han's name repeatedly. Fett fired on the unarmed Solo before he managed to free him from the sandcrawler, causing Solo to jump onto the sand. The sandcrawler, with Fett still in it, crashed into the mouth of the Sarlacc, trapping Fett once more. Solo once more thought of Fett as dead.

Darkhorse Comics - The Dark Empire Trilogy

"The Sarlacc found me somewhat indigestible, Solo."
    ―Boba Fett

8t88 ran into Fett one of the few times he surfaced after his escape from the Sarlacc in the Rimmer's Rest in 4 ABY and tried to hire him to capture Kyle Katarn, but Fett declined, arguing that it would be tactically unwise to take jobs against the victorious and successful Alliance.

The Galaxy thought Fett was nothing more than a half-digested morsel in the bowels of the Sarlacc, and Fett used this to his advantage. Utilizing the less recognizable Slave II, Fett only took jobs from the most subtle and discreet clients. It became even worse when Jodo Kast, a would-be bounty hunter who managed to acquire Mandalorian armor in an attempt to imitate Fett, made others believe that he was the infamous bounty hunter. Boba ambushed him using a hologram of a bounty Jodo was after and brutally finished him off by causing his jetpack to overload.

Four years passed until Han Solo discovered his nemesis was still alive. During the Clone Emperor's reign of terror, Fett took a new bounty on Solo. Along with Dengar, he surprised his target on the moon of Nar Shaddaa, but once again Solo escaped. He pursued Solo to the Deep Core world Byss. Fett was confident that Slave II would make it past the planetary defense shield but the Imperials closed off before he could make it. Slave II crashed against the shield, and Fett and Dengar went spinning off. The latter swore he would never work with him again; they won't be splitting the bounty. When they encountered each other again on the moon several months later, the engagement again ended against Fett's favor; Chewbacca took off Fett's helmet and ignited his jetpack, caused Fett to slam into the roof of the enclosure they were in, knocking him out. The Wookiee kept Fett's helmet as a trophy.

Unfortunately, Fett wasn't done and waited for the Falcon to emerge from the poisonous clouds by Nal Hutta. He was prepared to finish the job, but didn't anticipate the Falcon being refitted with a lightning gun. It disabled Slave I and sent Fett spinning into the clouds.

However, Solo would never leave the back of Fett's mind.

In 10 ABY, Fett was hired by Slique Brighteyes to kill Mir Tork and Leonis Murthé, the commanders of the Imperial "Death Ship" Azgoghk. Brighteyes offered Fett the entire wealth of the last surviving Gulmarids: 100 credits. Fett scoffed at such an offer and took it as an insult. Brighteyes told Fett how his name used to inspire such fear and respect throughout the Galaxy until his defeat at the hands of a Jedi at the Pit of Carkoon. He also appealed to Fett's code of honor and justice. Giving in to his claims, Boba accepted the job. After taking down the ship on Malicar 3, Fett returned to Brighteyes on Basteel with the severed heads of his targets and received his payment.[23]

Fett once again found himself working for the Hutts when Gorga the Hutt hired Boba to locate the pirate Bar-Kooda. Even though the standing bounty was 100,000 credits, Boba demanded double that; Gorga grudgingly accepted. On this mission, Fett enlisted the help of Wim Magwit, an illusionist who had spent four years aboard Bar-Kooda's starship, Bloodstar, performing for the pirates. When first confronted by Fett, Magwit effectively faked his own death to avoid the bounty hunter—who was not fooled. Magwit agreed to help Fett in exchange for freedom from an outstanding bounty on his own head. Using Magwit's mystifying hoop, Fett was able to bring Bar-Kooda out in the open. With the help of Wim and the pirate, Toxus Li, Boba finally subdued Bar-Kooda after firing his flamethrower into Bar-Kooda's face. Meanwhile, Magwit had fled back to the escape pod. With Bar-Kooda in tow, Fett and Magwit blasted free from Bloodstar and returned to Gorga with his prize. Shortly afterwards, Fett gave his corpse over to Gorga the Hutt and his guests to dine on.
The fate of Orko the Hutt.

During this time, Fett took on a number of assignments from Gorga. He rescued Gorga's wife, Anachro, from devious kidnappers. He swung her on a tight rope to a near-by train cart and trotted her home. After the incident, Gorga wanted his new father-in-law, Orko the Hutt, dead. Fett managed to get his money from Gorga, even though he did not kill Orko himself. Orko bribed Fett not to kill him, but to protect him. Unfortunately, he was attacked by a vengeful Ry-Kooda, Bar-Kooda's elder brother, who sought revenge on Fett and Gorga. Fett, the kidnappers, and Ry-Kooda collided on Skeebo and violence ensued. Boba managed to successfully rescue Anachro from her prison deep within an abandoned mine, but was confronted with Ry-Kooda, a larger and more ferocious—to the point of being psychotic—opponent than his brother. Ry-Kooda was beaten by Fett, who fired a wrist rocket into the ceiling of the mine, collapsing it onto Ry-Kooda. However, Ry-Kooda survived and would face Fett a second time. This time, Fett quite literally blew up Ry-Kooda, killing him and ending the threat against Gorga, Orko and himself. Fett had succeeded in killing Orko and rode off with Boz, who swore revenge on Fett. Shortly afterwards, Anachro had their baby.

In 14 ABY, Boba Fett encountered the Jedi Jaden Korr on Ord Mantell. Korr's mission was to destroy a large weapons cache hidden in the wastes of a ruined city. Fett had been hired, presumably, to transport the weapons off planet and arrived at the same time. His attempts to stop the fledgling Jedi failed and all seven stockpiles were destroyed. Boba Fett then tried to exact revenge on Korr. They battled to a draw, and, seeing no profit in his actions, Fett flew off.[24]

Fett would meet Solo again in 19 ABY, when, after securing his financial situation by collecting a five million credit bounty on the Devaronian criminal known as "The Butcher of Montellian Serat", Solo and Fett faced each other on Jubilar, the planet where Fett first saw Solo. They had come full circle.

Ultimately, both combatants agreed to drop their long-standing feud and go their separate ways. Fett even elected to retire from the hunting business, but when he returned to Kamino to have his bad leg replaced, the Kaminoan cloner he saw—his old associate, Taun We—had other ideas. Remembering the Mandalorian attacks on Kamino during the Clone Wars, Taun We asked Fett to hunt down the last surviving Mandalorian responsible—Fenn Shysa.
He even trained Solo's daughter later on...

I really cannot stand post ROTJ Expanded Universe stuff. Mainly because a great deal of it was created between ROTJ and TPM and thus they had no clue which direction the PT would go.

In my mind, Boba Fett is dead.

In a very random screw-up, the girl at CVS tossed these into my father's bag along with what he was actually buying. Having no use for 'em, he gave 'em to me, but I don't even know who they are. Anyone know if they're worth anything?

They are worth retail price if not less by now. They're clone war action figures for the cartoon show on cartoon network. Just regular toys you can buy at cvs or wal-mart.

I'll probz just keep 'em then. They're pretty cool looking.

Hell, they even got me to do some research on this "the clone wars". I watched the other series back in 2Ksomething, "clone wars" and enjoyed it, so I might actually watch this one at some point. Still can't sit through the movies.

With newer Star Wars toys, if they don't have the "first day of issue" sticker, they're not worth much. Vader, Boba Fett and Yoda toys can be hard to find and thus worth more, but the market's flooded with Clone Wars toys.

I opened 'em. They're nice looking, but so poorly articulated. I hate the 3 3/4" scale. Oh well, they'll make a neat little addition to my "random shit" display.

The Clone Wars series they have on now is honestly becoming the best Star Wars since the early 80's.

Right call me crazy but im just watching return of the jedi and I swear Solo says motherfucker to Chewie. Its when they are in the battle to escape Jabbas execution. After luke escapes from Fetts grappling wire thingy, Fett, face down, looks up, and the camera switches to Han prepping to save Lando and he turns to Chewie and definately says motherfucker. About 32:15 into the film

Wait—someone complained about First Contact? I think I should avoid that review, as it would raise my rage levels to usafe levels. First Contact is perfect. Really. Just watched it again on Blu-Ray (which is a glorious transfer, btw) and still can't see a flaw in it. I love it too much. I might even put it ahead of Khan...

First Contact is superb on Blu Ray. The battle against the Borg Cube is so crisp and clear, and all the shots of the Enterprise-E look beautiful.

To go back to a Star Wars theme, I can't wait for the films to be released on Blu-Ray. Unless something more recent has been announced, this was said in April by Lucasfilm:

    Quote Originally Posted by HDR
"We have been at work for a couple of years working on — I won't call it the Ultimate Set because we keep finding stuff—but, a very full set of all six [Star Wars] movies on Blu-ray with lots of extra material," Steve boasted. "We're finding all kinds of scenes from dailies that have never been seen before. Beyond all of those things that you know about there are some real treasures."

That means an elaborate Star Wars Blu-ray box set with The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi has been in development since roughly 2008. If some of the promised "treasures" are exclusive to Blu-ray then this set could usher in a new wave of high-def adopters.

The big question now is when will Star Wars make its Blu-ray debut? Sansweet would only offer "the too distant future" which in Lucasfilm terms could be another 2-3 years. This holiday season seems unlikely given Fox Home Entertainment, the eventual distributor, will be focusing their marketing efforts on their 75th anniversary celebration and the Alien Anthology Blu-ray set. A 2011 release might make more sense, especially with a theatrical re-release of Star Wars in 3D rumored to be coming as early as 2012 that will necessitate a Star Wars Blu-ray 3D release.

We should find out more about Star Wars on Blu-ray and possibly the exact release date between August 12-15 as the official Lucasfilm Star Wars Celebration V kicks off in Orlando, Florida.
Maybe we'll get more news next month? I like the sound of even more extras. Speaking of which, I really like "Empire of Dreams" which takes you behind the scenes of the original trilogy and has all of the actors talking about their experiences on set and with George. One of my favourite DVD extras.

I haven't watched any of the Star Wars films for probably five years now (since Pt.3 was in the cinema, I guess). I'm deliberately avoiding watching them until they come out on Blu-Ray. I figure I can never watch them for the first time, again, but leaving them completely for a long time will be the next best thing.

While I generally dislike all the tinkering Georgey does with the originals for each release, I'm very curious as to what he'll do to the prequels. There are a lot of little things in there that he could very easily tweak to make them tighter and better. Like in Episode I, cut out Jake Lloyd's insanely annoying commentary while flying the ship, cut Jar Jar stepping in poop and so forth. Oh, and cut down the pod race so it doesn't feel like it last for 365 hours.

While I don't think the prequels are good, there is potential there for future edits. Episode III could actually come out very well with a few snips here and changes there. III is the closest of the prequels to being a really good movie, but there piss dialogue and little things (the Qui Gon scene, among others) that hold it back. III also has all those scenes that Boy George cut of Padme and Bail settling up the Rebellion. Those could fit in well.

Well, it would have interrupted the long wait and buildup to Luke coming in. That's the sort of scene that Lucas would have put in on the prequels because he thinks he needs to explain why Luke has a green lightsaber, except that scene doesn't explain anything.

I'd have agreed with you and defended the film up until I saw his rant. While it's an entertaining movie, the guy makes a good point with everything he says. His small niggles aside, he's bang on with how the film goes against what Star Trek was about, and changes a lot of character development from the series.

I thought the First Contact review was purely idiotic. His complaints boiled down to people entering a room through an air duct, without giving a long shot to show the door to the room and the ultra pedantic case of "why didn't they go back in time further/earlier?" That's always a fairly stupid case that people can make about time travel stories and it's really grasping for straws. With time travel, no matter what they do, someone can always make the "why didn't they go further back" argument, which it ignores what the movie is and what it's about.

I disagree with his case on character development. Picard, after being assimilated, changed in future encounters with the Borg. While he ruled against genocide in I, Borg, he openly considered doing it and had his crew develop a WMD for the Borg. In Descent, he was removed from a command position for the whole episode and wasn't dealing with proper Borg. This was his boiling point. He couldn't take anymore from them after they invade his ship and assimilate the crew that he works so hard to protect. It makes perfect sense.

Also in the review, he brings up Seven and the Borg children as reasons why he shouldn't have shot the infected crewmen. Those hadn't happened in the overall story yet. He used examples from Voyager, which was yet to occur—events that Picard would have no knowledge of—as a case for why he should have acted differently.

I love most of his reviews, but that one was just really grasping at straws to nitpick something.

    ----------------------

Back to Star Wars, while that Luke scene is nifty, it doesn't belong in the movie. I totally agree that it's the type of scene Lucas would leave in now, even though it's totally unnecessary and takes away suspense from the movie.

On the subject of the blu-ray release, I'm very interested in what Lucas will change. It's become standard practice with each release for him. I hope he takes after the last DVD release and puts both his updated versions and the original releases in the set. More than tweaks to the OT, I want to see what he does to the prequels. Those have been ridiculed and dissected to the point where he could make a lot of simple changes that help the movies as a whole. With the bulk being CG, it should actually be easier for him to make significant changes to the product.

The one scene I want is Darth Maul jumping on the ship's ramp in the first duel with Qui-Jon. Lucas has talked about the scene, but it hasn't been released as a deleted scene. Basically, Oscar Schindler jumps onto the ramp to escape as the ship flies off and Maul does a super sith flippy jump onto the ramp and Qui-Jon has to cut the ramp off to drop Maul. That's why Maul is seen getting up as the ship flies off.

Plus in First Contact the Borg were attacking Earth in almost a replica of their plans from 'Best of Both Worlds'. It's not out of the question that Picard's emotional response to a situation so similar to that which caused him to be assimilated would be different to his reaction when dealing with the Borg on a smaller scale many light-years from Earth.

One stray Borg and a group that has been separated from the collective by Lore is much different than actually facing the Borg again for him.
