Vision is currently the best book Marvel is putting out. Highly recommend it.

Read Drax #1, very boring. Sorry Punk, I don't think I'll keep reading this.

inside was a free download for Totally Awesome Hulk and I love it. Great new way to present the Hulk character.

Invincible Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Spider Woman, Mighty Thor, and Daredevil all say hi. I have heard nothing but good stuff about Vision though...but its def not the best.

Invincible Iron Man has been average at best but then I'm disappointed that they stopped the superior Iron Man storyline.

Not picked up Doctor Strange because I've never been a fan.

Spiderwoman has been good and I'm enjoying the whole hospital hostage situation that is going on and the way she's still fighting crime despite being heavily pregnant.

Liked the first issue of Mighty Thor which surprised me since I hate the female thor angle when they first introduced. Didn't think much to the second issue though.

Daredevil has been shit , I hate this sidekick he is currently training. This 10-fingers character or whatever he's called is not interesting at all. Such a shame because I love the Daredevil character hopefully it picks up soon.

Honestly Vision pisses all over the rest of the Marvel books or it does at the moment anyway (it's only been 3 issues) in fact I would say it's better then any book DC is putting out at the moment too.

Totally Awesome Hulk has been fun. Was a bit thrown by Hulk not being some Asian teenager as having given up on Secret Wars just down to how many comics they were putting out (and still are as they are still coming out) I had no idea what changes were in store for this all new marvel.

I need to read 2 and 3 of Vision. It is a really good book...I just don't think its the best out there. Honestly my favorite comics are Rick and Morty and Invader Zim. Have you checked out Weirdworld at all Gary J? That is a super fun title too from marvel.

For DC my favorites are Grayson, Midnighter, Gotham Academy, and Deathstroke.

Not read any of Rick and Morty or Invader Zim. I am mainly a DC / Marvel fanboy and get most of their titles every month. Weirdworld is part of the Secret Wars thing isn't it? I might have some of them I did end up cancelling the Secret Wars just because of the sheer volume of them.

I too am loving Grayson and Gotham Academy. Not checked out Midnighter but heard good things I thnk it'll be cancelled soon though so will probably pick up the trades. I did think about about picking up Deathstroke but the first run when the New 52 started really put me off as it was abysmal.

Even though they don't seem to mind Marvels parody's so much it must piss DC off when they see how well the Deadpool character has done even though he was just a bit part character. He's probably more popular than Deathstroke.

    undoubtedly.

The Vandal Savage storyline in Action Comics is pretty good just now, I just got into that (at the wrong end of the run, admittedly...) and am going to get a hold of the whole arc.

Just read that there's going to be a Civil War II? A cataclysmic event that splits the Marvel Universe in two.

They just rebooted their fucking universe, now they're doing this? I love/hate Marvel so hard.

The New York Daily News just did a big article on it the other day - http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...icle-1.2491020

    Here's the premise:

“A mysterious new Marvel character comes to the attention of the world, one who has the power to calculate the outcome of future events with a high degree of accuracy,” according to the synopsis. “This predictive power divides the Marvel heroes on how best to capitalize on this aggregated information, with Captain Marvel leading the charge to profile future crimes and attacks before they occur, and Iron Man adopting the position that the punishment cannot come before the crime.”
Apparently a major character is going to be responsible for a massive tragedy in the near future and must be killed for the greater good. So the hook is who gets killed and who does the killing.

    Awesome.

I'm not too familiar with Civil War, I have only read one book, Civil War: X Men Universe which focuses more on X-Factor, Quicksilver.

It was cool, short but decent. I really want the Punisher one. I get the gist of the storyline, at the last the whole Spider-Man aspect of it at least. Pretty excited to see how this all unfolds. We're talking a good 6-7 year storyline and I have the patience.

So, Tony is flipping his roles from the original Civil War. It sounds a lot like X-Men vs. Avengers plot with no X-Men which with the rights issue is no surprise. The original Civil War was great til the WTF ending which lead to Cap's death which also coincided with Peter's magical divorce. Add in the fact that Tony became the most hated man in comics, I am not sure why they are going back to well.

Well Marvel have just ended a major comic book and took some characters away from the marvel universe. Looks like if Civil War II is going to kill some off then Marvel are having a major reboot and heading in a new direction.

I'm always super behind on reading comic books, but I've started reading Uncanny X-Force, and holy shit is it good stuff. About the first time I can ever remember Angel/Archangel being remotely interesting.

Justice League/Power Rangers crossover coming January 2017. I've been digging the new Power Rangers comic, so i'm excited for this.

Also interesting: note in the art that GL is John Stewart, not Hal or Kyle!

Anyone pick up Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows The Series#1?

Bloody loved it. I kind of haven't missed the Spider-Marriage as much as others have because I read the ASM Newspaper Strip and it's kept Peter and MJ together virtually all decade since OMD, but that strip has a niche audience, so it's nice to have a book in the mainstream again where Peter and MJ have a solid foundation and love for one another. Annie is annoying, but eh, all kids are annoying at that age so I can stomach it. The art was steller and the back-up strip with Sandman looking after Annie and Peter being forbidden to sing Frozen lyrics was painlessly cute.

Aside from that, I don't read much Marvel anymore. DC and Image have my undivided attention, the Rebirth books have been killing it all year and SuperDad is my idol.

So justice league will have to be helping the power rangers defeat some really big bad I am guessing? The level of power difference between superman and the power rangers alone is insanity.

Just read the rest of the latest RYV. Great stuff, and man Conway REALLY takes more shots at how 616 MJ's been written the last few years ("I don't brood, and I don't hold grudges"). It's also established that Annie is eight years old and that Aunt May died in circumstances that have made Peter slightly more over-protective of his family

I see the Amazing Spider-Man newspaper strip is having Peter team up with Rocket to take on Ronan The Accuser. Wonder if Rocket will hit on MJ since the strip's recurring running gag is she always gets hit on by characters despite being happily married to Peter. Both her and Peter have even commented on this in the last two storylines this year.

And following last week's issue of Batman, all three members of the trinity are now back with their most iconic significant others. Bats with Selina, Diana with Steve, and Clark with Lois

I don't really keep up on new releases. I generally get to stuff years after it's been out for a while.

I just finished reading The Mighty. Any of you guys ever read it? I thought it was excellent. Very well executed version of the misguided hero thing.

    That's going to be great....

I absolutely loved that Rebirth comic with the return of Wally West earlier this year.

Some emotional shit right there, and I'm more of a marvel douche.

Preview for Clone Conspiracy#4, which reveals Ben Reilly has had a vast network, a "web" so to speak, of people he has emotionally blackmailed into helping him further his goals. He also cracks a joke about possibly resurrecting The Burgler that killed Uncle Ben just so Peter can finally have his way with him

    http://www.cbr.com/the-clone-conspir...usive-preview/

Ben also says something pretty interesting, which may be some meta-foreshadowing on Slott's end given the OMD hints lately, "Every bad decision can be undone"

Marvel take the lead in the market share for December, but the fourth quarter of 2016 was down by 6% compared to fourth quarter 2015

Top sellers of December saw DC given most of it's slots strictly through Batman books and JL/Suicide Squad. Marvel elbowed in there with IXV, Civil War II's conclusion, Star Wars, and the relaunch of She-Hulk as "Hulk"

Amazing Spider-Man:: Renew Your Vows Issue 3 was cute and fun as we got a glimpse into Annie May Parker's school life, she's befriended by the school's renowned "bad girl" and her spider-sense gives her flashes of the future (like Kaine), Norman's grandkid Normie is infatuated with her at first sight when she arrives to kick some Moleoid ass.

Anyone ever read DC's 52? I'm going through the trades at the moment and at the end of each issue/week is a commentary from a writer, artist or editor that contributed to this collaborative approach.

Interesting that they are quite open with what they disagree with and where things get lost in translation when describing panels to an artist. One thing I found a crack up was a guy selling gyros, his cart gets knocked over and I pay no other attention, only to read the commentary and turn back to that page and the gyro cart has hot dogs flying out of it instead.

Really a fun read with or without the commentaries but now I'm on the last Trade so things are wrapping up. The passing of the mantle of the question and the fate of Ralph Dibny were two of my favourites.

52 is one of my favorite DC stories, but it gave the second and third stringers time to shine. Highly recommend it. If Marvel fixes the marriage, I will come back to them. Until then, let Miles be Spidey.

Looks like Action Comics will be properly resolving the Clark Kent mystery as we prepare for the "Superman Reborn" event, I have to say, they've paced this mystery really well and I'm intrigued about where it's going..."Clark" is sinister, but at the same time seems to come off as rather innocent too, makes him a bit sympathetic even if you know he may ultimatley prove to be bad news

So this confirms a couple of things

-Slott's probably going to remain on board ASM
-MJ is likely remaining with Bendis
-The married Spider-Man will continue to be represented soley by RYV and the Newspaper Strip
-Rebecca London will fall into the same catergory as Carlie Cooper and Cissy Underwood as it pertains to the "who?" love interest catergory

So at first I started asking if anyone had any info on an image I saw Jim Lee post on his Instagram showing Batman holding the Comedian's blood splattered smiley face pin. This cover is one of those that you move it up and down and it alternates from Batman to Flash. I googled the wording of the image and was very excited to read up on the storyline. Very cool. Batman and Watchmen are 2 of my favorites, especially Comedian. So I'm really excited for these comics to drop (I believe next month?)

It's actually a crossover with Batman and The Flash, you have to pick up two isseus of each to get the complete story on their investigation into the Comedian's button (a loose plot thread dating back to the begining of Rebirth in 2016)

Super Sons #1 was really good.

Read the first issue of The Wild Storm. Good introduction. A bit too heavy on introing characters, but given the nature of the thing sort of had to happen.

That is sure to create a true fuckshow of epic confusion. Anyone want to take bets on how long it takes until they scrap the idea and go back to a new #1 every year or so when a new 'superstar talent' wants a #1 for their 'bold new vision' of a character/team title?

I think for Marvel, they are realizing their lets change all the heroes around for younger, minority and somewhat bland characters is not working. Going back to the originals even if its for a little bit is probably a test. If the originals sell better after three months than you may see a lot of the younger kids sent to teams or get their own books. Honestly, I like that Marvel is trying to make new characters while DC seems to be really relaying on the established ones. The problem for me is Marvel is doing it on the backs of characters that people love. I still stay away from Marvel due to the fuckery of Spiderman after Brand New Day. Their constant need to beat the shit out of the X-Men the last few years hasn't helped either.

Both DC and Marvel seem to be in a race to alienate their older fans and completely confuse the shit out of newer fans by constantly doing 'call backs' to the older stuff that newer readers don't have the same nostalgia for. Renmbering, going back to old numbering, legacy characters to preserve trademarks, turn long established good guys into bad guys... stuts and gimmicks by any other name. The difference now is that what used to be a one-and-done story is spread out over a year long arc and a bajillion crossovers. When I started reading, just about any issue could be a jump-on point with little 'necessary' catching up.

The hard on for Dath Maul never ceases to amaze me. I remember a few years ago, Marvel just dominating the top 50, now they have just a few titles in the top 25. One of those titles is Star Wars which they only got back after chucking it away years ago and the other two lines are Spiderman and IVX. I have no idea what IVX is. The fact that Guardians and Avengers don't even crack the top 25 has to worry Marvel comics.

DC is probably Rocking it in the comic world because the fans are desperate for the good films but aren't getting anything. Therefore they are buying up something worth reading. Well that and didn't DC relaunch everything again?

Disney apparently made the right move as well from eradicating everything from the EU. Now if you want to get your fill of what happened outside the movies you have to start all over. Fucking dickheads. So yeah, makes sense star wars is dominating.

DC's Rebirth thing was tremendous, the recent one anyway. Especially when Barry reached out and saved... uh, someone. Might not post it just in case for spoilers sake.

I'm struggling to keep up with everything everywhere, and I'm normally quite good at keeping tabs on it all. As much as wrestling has been my nerdy passion, I think I've always given up more sleep to read comics.

I like Superman at the moment, never thought I'd say that. Struggling with Flash, and I really don't like the artwork there. Both Lantern titles are solid and easily accessible.

Maybe I can break it down like this...

Loving: Spider-Man (Miles), Champions, Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and the Green Lantern Corps, Superman, Action Comics, The Walking Dead, Hulk (She), Spider-Woman, Nova, Captain America: Steve Rogers, first issue of THE WILD STORM (never read it before, but seems alright)

I think I could get into, but I'm too much of a dumb fuck, or its just confusing: Anything Avengers related, Cap: Sam Wilson, Batman, Detective Comics, Justice League, Suicide Squad, Amazing Spider-Man, Old Man Logan, Saga (I think I've missed too much of it, and really, sci-fi in general pisses me off)

Not even going to bother: All the X-Men shit, Daredevil (somehow this got boring very quickly), Injustice: Ground Zero

The most recent Avengers comic opened up with Time Travel which just automatically hit my shitlist.

If it ends up this way, I might just re-read both Bendis and Hickman's runs on the Avengers all the way into Secret Wars... the ending with Doom was lovely btw.

Anyone here read the walking dead? March's issue had a preview for Redneck which looked pretty good, a southern vampire story.

Also, how good was this month's walking dead? I've been loving it lately.

Oh yeah, the Whisperers end left much to be desired and I assume it will lead to an encounter with Beta again. It's possible he just disappears too, but if that's the case I'll be somewhat disappointed.

I was at the comic book store this weekend and snatched up the "new" Carnage #10 and The Punisher #10. But I reallllly wanted to grab the issues of The Punisher teaming up with Dr. Strange called Magic Bullets. I thought it was kind of a funny name considering the magic bullet sex toy 90% of the women I know have or had at some point but still it looked pretty fucking cool. I really like the Carnage comics they put out recently although I didn't realize the first one I would buy a few weeks back was actually the last of the series so I'm going back to find the other 16-17 I don't have.

I'm at a point now with comics that have came out in the last couple years-present is that I'm not familiar with the stories so I'm almost going solely on skimming through the pages and checking the artwork, and the cover art is a big seller. Almost grabbed Harley's Little Black Book featuring Lobo due to having zero Lobo comics and while the cover looked cool the inside stuff just wasn't that great and it looked kind of stupid to begin with, idk maybe I'm wrong. I mean shit, I'm super into the Batman-TMNT books so yeah lol

I got X-Men Gold, because the team looked good. They made Kitty the leader and have Old Man Logan around, because his movie is out. It was a nice re-establishment of the characters, but the price of $5 for the book is a bit much.

Two issues into Secret Empire and I've stopped so many times to just rub my forehead at the dialogue. I'm so tired of Marvel making 80% of all the good guys sounds like trendy/edgy millennials. Las Vegas has just been blown to smithereens and then we've got Rick Jones' recording talking about his jail's Blur-Ray library, memory foam, and an espresso machine? Like what the fucking fuck is it going to take Marvel to get serious? We've got nothing but a bunch of jobber kids running around acting like they're a part of the Avengers, meanwhile DC is killing it. They're writing their super heroes to be... super heroes. Not like new kids on the block that want to know how many views on Youtube they got saving a cat from a tree. Everybody's just all smiles, cracking jokes, flipping the bird, and not taking into consideration that serious shit is going down.

Marvel just ain't for me anymore.

Just finished the 'Button' mini-arc through Batman and Flash this month. Kinda wish they had progressed things more than they did for all the hype the 4 issues got. I guess they want the real build-up to happen once they spring 'Doomsday Clock' in the Fall. Batman #21 was promising, and the meeting with the Flashpoint Thomas Wayne was OK, but once they looped back around to meeting Reverse Flash, it's like they ran out of ideas on how to wrap up the arc except for one BIG RETURN (which they spoil right on the cover) that doesn't really go anywhere.

I didn't expect things to progress as much as many expected to. The Watchmen coming into play is going to be a big thing for the DC universe and I never thought they were reveal everything in a Batman / Flash crossover. It is far more likely we see more team-up crossovers throughout like Cyborg / Aquaman , Superman / Green Lanterns which lead to whatever major event DC has planned.

I guess I expected too much. If they do a 'slow burn' like that, it'd kinda be like how they introduced Monitor and Lyta back before the COIE... little teases here and there. At least they've committed to keep the Doomsday Clock event self-contained, without dozens of crossover issues that don't contribute much to the main story.

It is a big leap to bring these two worlds together. I know people are hype about this, but I am very very leery of this entire thing. I am sure at the end, this will piss people off, but there good be some great moments.

I've always been a huge fan of these type of stories. Big reason why I'm so into stories like Civil War or the DC/Marvel crossover comics dating back to the 80's. Watchmen has been so distant from anything DC related, to my knowledge, that the idea of the Justice League and Watchmen coinciding is very very intriguing.

It seems sorta obvious that the point of the whole thing is to just get Superman and Dr Manhattan to fight each other

A baby bottle can be a sex toy. In fact just about anything can be a dildo if the girl (or guy) is optimistic enough.

Read the latest issue of Batman Beyond and I think the writer wanted the big reveal to be a big shock, but the foreshadowing was so blatant that it was obvious where things were going.

Looks like the mystery of Mr. Oz will be dealt with in September over in Action Comics.

Speaking of Action, this week was awesome, good fight, and the revelation Clark was blind was telegraphed in a way that didn't immediately alert you to the reveal.

The Venom arc in Renew Your Vows kicked off well, even if MJ taking the symbiote was rushed. I'm pretty sure that crew on the boat she attacked are probably just roughed up and not dead, MJ may be a mental prisoner of the symbiote by issue's end, but she would'nt willfully let the symbiote be allowed to commit murder and compromise her character.

Also, Scott Synder talks a bit about his experiances with depression

Yeah, I was really impressed w/ how well it was done. Characters being killed and resurrected over and over again actually made sense here and... I'm not sure how the reincarnation machine thing they got going will play in the long run, but I like the idea of all mutants coming together and saying "Fuck it, we can't keep fighting each other... everybody's already trying to exterminate us anyway so... UNION."

I haven't read any X-Men in years, but always been apparent how much of a mess the X books have been since... shit House of M? Everything has been scatter brained, disorganized, and inconsistent so hopefully we get a status quo that actually stays. I still have my suspicions about it all because it all feels too happy ending. Why aren't they showing Professor X's face? (Didn't Scott kill him and didn't Red Skull take his brain?) At first I thought it was The Maker (Ultimate Reed Richards) so that's been kind of confusing to me.

But ehh... Wolverine is back (heard his resurrection was incoherent and meh)... Scott is back... Professor X is back... Can we please get a sole X-Men team and have it stick around like in the old days? I miss when it was the old crew (Wolverine, Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Archangel, Colossus, Jubilee, Beast, Storm, Rogue, etc. etc. etc.)

I think the reason we always see Professor X like that is because he's always wearing Cerebro in order to always be able to "store" the psyche of the mutants for the resurrection machine. Professor X had been brought back in a weird way earlier as well but I think this story is somewhat retconning some of it. Definitely got the same vibes of The Maker though but not sure how it's going to pan out.

Agree that the X books have been shit since House of M. But good to see basically everyone (important) alive again. So that's nice.

I mean I really liked how they brought the original X-Men into the future... but they outlived their stay wayyy too long. WAYYYYYY too long. And I don't think it really did anything for anyone in the long run. They were just kind of around, then they were in the background, and it got to a point where people were all "Oh, yeah there's like 2 of everybody running around now." They split and it was back to square one.

And killing off Wolverine was just pointless. X-23 taking up the mantle was also pretty cringey because Marvel was well into their phase of having new kids on the block take on the mantles. X23 was wolverine, now Wolverine's back. Falcon was Captain America, now Captain America's back. Cho was Hulk, now Hulk's back. Jane was Thor, now Thor's back. Riri was Iron Man, now Iron Man's back.

Marvel blew their own foot off w/ their All New All Awesome stuff. Lord, those were dark times and they're still shaking it off as we speak. I miss what Marvel was before Secret Invasion (and I absolutely loved Secret Invasion). The Avengers looked like The Avengers. Now days it looks like a Disney version of what The Avengers used to be.

The one thing that I've hated about Marvel, and they're actually doing a good job of dropping this, is that they write their heroes to fight each other way too often. The main conflict has usually been good guys fighting good guys, and that's really divided all the factions and teams. But like I said, they're trying to do away w/ that. Amazing Spiderman has been good, Thor's been ok, Hulk's been... interesting.

Marvel just lacks balls. Punisher MAX... Immortal Iron Fist... Daredevil... Uncanny X-Force... those titles were the tits.

That was my biggest problem with the "young x-men" too in the end. It really appears to have left no impact on anything when they got sent back.

Basically was a way to use the original characters before they got "tainted" with all the other shit that's happened to them.

The X-Men just don't work in the context of being in the wider Marvel Universe. Like the conceit in this last issue where the Librarian talks about evolution and humans use of machinery to buy time for science to catch up with mutant evolution yet the X-Men exist in a place where you can't walk ten feet in NYC without running into a super powered human.

I read the first issue and wondered why they acted like the villians. It just like an elsewhere story pretending to be a massive reboot.

    Now that it's been awhile.
    How about a demographic check?
Are there still "not that many comic fans" here?

I don’t really “keep up with them” either, but I’d really love a place to talk comics so that we can read stuff together and I can get a lot more into it.

Specifically, I've been reading all the Black Hammer graphics novels as they show up at my library. I think there have been 4 or 5 collected editions of the main title and then a handful of spinoffs and a Justice League crossover. Sometimes I pick up an X-Men or Batman book or whatever, usually I look for one that's a one-off collection and not part of series with those. For awhile I was reading the Ms. Marvel, Squirrel Girl, and Champions TPBs for four or five books in order until I got bored or they didn't have a new one for awhile and I forgot the current plot. A few years ago I read about 25 collections of Usagi Yojimbo. For awhile I was reading the old Alan Moore run on Swamp Thing, too.

I'm a massive Punisher guy and have had to quell some gripes w/ the current run. So right now Punisher is head of The Hand. They see him as the end all be all fuck-off badass god they've been waiting for, and they convinced him to be the head guy by resurrecting his wife. Like, supposedly it's her, gunshot scar on the face to prove it. And so far Frank's cool w/ it, and that's been my problem.

Back during the Dark Avengers days, Frank was going after The Hood and Microchip for reasons pertaining to crime and such. Microchip tried making a deal w/ Frank by raising his wife and kids from the dead, straight out of their coffins. Frank, knowing that while their bodies may be coming alive, they're not his family and he'll never have them back in any way shape or form. So he took a flamethrower villain hostage and ordered him to torch them on the spot. Dude's all... "Are you serious?!" and Frank's just like... "DO IT." He burns his own family alive and even Hood can't fathom how crazy Punisher is.

So they've already gone over stuff like this. But the latest issue seems like things are about to pick up finally. I hate the resurrected wife thing and I know she'll just end up dead again, but I'm still somewhat ok w/ the book.

I am reading Judgement Day and Dark Crisis. Judgement Day has a very interesting plot in the Eternals ending the Mutants ability to be immortal. However, the Eternals always feel like the bad guys, its hard to root for them. Plus, most of them shouldn't be immortal either. I also don't understand why there is no T'Challa as leader, but Tony and Cap. Weird after reading Avengers where they are still fighting Mephisto in the past. I also find it hysterical that there is no Avengers books tie ins but FF and Spidey for some reason.

Dark Crisis is a lame version of Zero Hour and 52. However, the character interactions are better and I like the idea of the villains going all out over the League being gone. However, the Heroes being dead is just dumb. Deathstroke leading the Secret Society to kill the Titans, only to get his ass kicked by Nightwing was a nice moment. No idea who the new Batman is as Bruce is suppose to be dead. The idea of the GL Corp protecting Earth is cool. Its weird that the two events have the complete opposite strengths and weakness.
