I guess that's possible. I've seen that logic being put about a few times around why not announce it the week before ST go on sale surely announcing 3 in 2 days they lose a little impact. Adebola certainly.

With Villa and Mears out the door today I reckon we should have a bit more money to play with. RB, CB and try and convince Barnes to stay as I love him. CM on loan from premiership maybe a trialist coming in perm and it's all looking good. Though I would like to keep Pearson if his wages aren't too restrictive.

Just need to get Caroll, Davis, Zadakovich and a few others out the door. It's sad to say but in some cases we need to get people out and replace them with a player who is 75-80% the quality but has 30-40% the wage demands too many on wages Billy kindly gave them.

My secret tip for Derby Player of the Year : Jay McEverley. Love him.

Di Matteo to WBA as well. Interesting one. I guess once again it's who he can convince to stay. That team is very strong for this division but the one which came down last time with Curtis Davies etc might've been stronger and they couldn't stop us from getting promoted.

What a league this is. Everyone is so bloody close.

Also Ferrie Bodde. What a twat. Brilliant player but shit attitude. Chances he'll be doing the same next year even if he goes to Bolton and stays up? What is it with Dutch people? They have this reputation for being so easy going yet every international tournament they have a big racist fight in the camp and loads of their players are mardy gits

-- Announced the first 4 matches

    Newcastle vs West Brom
    Ipswich vs Newcastle
    Derby vs QPR
    Cardiff vs Forest

So they have 10 games which means best case scenario 4 teams wont be shown and yet newcastle are in 2 of the first 4. Interesting. Wonder which teams will miss out. I assuume Derby vs Forest and Sheffield Derby have been picked by SKY

"all the goals from every game in the Football League, Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be shown on the BBC website in the UK."

    That's superb.

Everybody will be able to view all the wonder goals we score next season then, excellent.

On the MOTD thing, I heard they would show the highlights after MOTD itself but don't know anything more than that or if it's even true

Nah it'll be a 2 minute wrapup of all games without showing any buildup to the goals just it leaving their foot and going in

They'll be able to have football league goals in their goal of the month though wooo and they'll get more credit for them. Like that fucking Torres goal against Blackburn last year, 'ooh wonder goal, only the best striker in the world could score that, shows Torres is WORLD CLASS etc etc' when Jordan Rhodes had smashed basically the same goal in a month earlier.

I will one day sof when I work out how to get video from the Brentford site onto RAJAH

We've signed some bloke called LEON LEGGE what a superb name. Some centre back from TONBRIDGE who Millwall and Norwich were apparently also after. I bet he's crap.

You should sign Matt Ritchie on loan from us. Omar Koroma too. I want feedback on how good these lads are.

I don't think I've heard of him. Wiki confirms that

To be fair, he's had less than 10 games for club and country combined, and most of them are sub appearances. Not even I can talk that much about someone who's done bugger all.

    Besides, it's too hot. Meh.

    Uhm

His strengths are he's young. And African. And in England. So presumably great then. And he has a Wiki page.

His weaknesses are he hasn't played any games worth shit. Or any stats worth anything.

Career highlights must be marrying some girl to get British eligibility to sign for Portsmouth.

    There, UK Blue, happy? Heh.

    Ta.

I'd give that a look, but I'm still playing 2006. (When you have limited finances, you make things last...) In fact, I'm currently trying to win the Premiership with Partick Thistle. Took me six years of playing these damned games to realise they had Editors. But anyway, enough of that, before I start anedoting about the time I won the Premierleague with West Brom. Or took Swansea to the UEFA Cup final. Or Brentford to the Premier League. Or kept Palace up....

    Good riddance.

My transfer predictions for us now are Gunter, Jones, Camp and McKenna. That would do nicely.

Tyson to Reading is a rumour I heard too.

Better than over the phone at least. It's formal, if anything. He'd be a good player for most Championship sides I reckon. He'll probably go back to Rangers.

Also, the BSP fixtures come out soon (either tomorrow or Saturday I think) and I'm really looking forward to going through and seeing what games I'll be able to attend. Hopefully the AFC Wimbledon, Luton, Oxford and Salisbury away games won't clash with Pompey home games.

I know this is a thread for the football league but I'm going to talk Conference stuff in here too OK

Craddock and Hatch will get about 70 goals between them next season. Craddock will probably get 50 of them though.

Luton are seriously going to piss that league.

Supposedly Hughton is head of it but Calderwood is there too, as well as a couple of other coaches. Dowie wasn't there and I've heard nothing as to why, I assume he must be in the same situation as Shearer. We also have 2 fitness coaches who are both working their notice, which gives us a nice state of stability..

I doubt Ferguson will play next season but he is training with the first team for pre-season.

Did you renew your season ticket in the end? Or are you just going to pick and choose your games?

He's bent me over again. I believed in his story about how sad it was that he wasn't going to renew his season ticket for the first time since 1978. UK Blue is no better than Peter Storrie for deceit and lies.

BILLY Davies today revealed he is trying to land a SIXTH striker to make Nottingham Forest a real force in front of goal next season.
David McGoldrick and Dele Adebola both signed this week to join up with Robert Earnshaw, Nathan Tyson and Joe Garner.
But the Reds boss has asked the board to land him another forward to give him even more options.
Davies said: "They are the ones that fire you to the top of the league. We have five and I would still like another one.
"The board know that and have been very supportive to the suggestions I have made over the last couple of weeks.

"They have been very responsive and we have to get this front situation sorted out.
"We have to make sure we don't need to play Nathan Tyson three times in a week. We have to make sure Robert Earnshaw does not do that.
"We have not brought Adebola to play 60 games a season, but to play in the right type of games in the right situations and to have them all fresh.
"To do that, we need six strikers. At this moment we have five very good strikers and we hope to bring in another one and that will have us ready to rotate it when we feel necessary."
Davies hinted that up to another five players are on his wish list.
And no time is being wasted with Forest confirming they have agreed an undisclosed fee with QPR for goalkeeper Lee Camp.
Camp, who made 15 appearances while on loan at the City Ground last season, is expected to sign today subject to passing a medical.
He will become the fourth signing after Paul Anderson made his move from Liverpool permanent on Tuesday.
But Davies is far from done, adding: "We still want a centre back, central midfielder and still need another striker and one or two others that will fit in.
"There will still be a number of players that come into this football club between now and the start of the season.
"It is all about round pegs in round holes, I have said that all along.
"We have to find full backs that are full backs, midfielders that are midfielders. We are trying to do that and will keep working away."
And he is still hopeful of landing Preston midfielder Paul McKenna who he worked with during his time at Deepdale.
"It is not dead in the water," said Davies. "We have put in another improved offer to Preston and he is a player I admire greatly.
"He is the right age for this club because of his experience and what he has done. He probably needs a fresh move for his own career.
"He is a very fit man, a great pro and a great talker in the dressing room and on the pitch.
"He is an outstanding player and we will do all we can to bring him to this football club because he is a player we need."

I know most of you won't give a flying fuck about this but I am genuinly excited about the coming season for the first time in years so I thought I'd share.

Paul McVeigh is training at Colney with the Norwich team. Again, might not be a big deal to the rest of you, but the guy was my hero back in the day. If he's signing for us again then I'm pretty sure I'll explode with glee.

    We love you Paul McVeigh!
    And if it's quite alright,
    We love you Paul McVeigh!
    Despite your lack of height!
    We love you Paul McVeigh!
When you cross and we sco-ore!

I tried the BBC predictors for the Championship and League One (League Two isn't up anymore - the creator must be a Brentford fan...or a Luton one!)

    I got:

Which surprises me slightly - Derby have a great run of winnable games at one point in the season, as do Peterborough which explains there higher position. I think Newcastles position is about accurate, and Plymouth fans definetly believe they're for the drop. If you asked me the now, I wouldn't say Swansea or Coventry would finish where they are, but on the basis of asking me who will win each game of the season, that's where they end. Madness.

    League One

There is an ahberration in this table, caused by a predictor malfunction. You should spot it easily. Norwich seem the best placed of the relegated sides to make a comeback. Hartlepool are in freefall, and Yeovil have a bad end of season which could suck them in.

Brentford were 10th before the random jump with the last click and I do believe they'll finish well clear of the drop. Promotion might be slightly out of reach though.

But to be honest, the two leagues are a crabshoot. And the predictions are based on who'd win each game based on the position of previous games and the position in the season. Which as we all know is a fools game, so things will change as quickly as Match Day #1.

Well, let's look at Forest's first 15 games.

    Reading v Nottm Forest
    Nottm Forest v West Brom
Can't bank on points from either of these.
    Nottm Forest v Watford
    Could win.
    Nottm Forest v Derby
A rivalry game is hard to predict - Forest don't exactly have the best form recently in them.
    Sheff Wed v Nottm Forest
Forest had 5 away wins all season last time out. That's one more than Charlton. And 3 came against the three who went down. You cant legislate for Forest winning any away games on current form. And form does move between seasons, as we have seen so often in the past.
    Ipswich v Nottm Forest
    Nottm Forest v Blackpool
You'll win this if you have any shot of staying up.

    Plymouth v Nottm Forest
    Nottm Forest v Scunthorpe
    Likewise
    Peterborough v Nottm Forest
    Nottm Forest v Newcastle
    Nottm Forest v Barnsley
    Crystal Palace v Nottm Forest
    Cardiff v Nottm Forest

But you see, by November starts, on running form you could be on 12 points and adrift already, like the 2004-5 season.

Then again, you could go and shock Reading on day one and never look back. It's the pre-season.

lol I'm sure this must be a wind up.

Since Davies took over in Jan our form would have seen us finish 9th.

You are basing youyr predictions on Calderwood. Anyway, I don't mind, but I'll bet you £50 here and now that we won't go down.

    24 points out of 19, times 2 is 48 from 38, and 12 from half the 19 is 60.

Well, you'd stay up on that.

But the away form should be a serious worry.

And I'm not on a wind up. Why would I do that? I support Thistle, Forest's seasonal finish is neither here nor there to me.

I don't gamble on football. It just screws everything up.

You can have the moral victory instead.

I for one certainly dont wish relegation on anyone here - not even the SPurs fans. I've been through it 6 times in about 15 years.

I have mate, been relegated 4 times and if was this time last season I'd probably say your table was realistic.

But with our signings so far, and the change in fortunes since Davies took over I am genuinly enthusiastic about this season - I honestly think there is no way we will be in a relegation battle - despite the tough start.

Weirdly, I've never been relegated as a Pompey fan. Despite witnessing season after season of relegation struggle, our last relegation was from the old Div 1 in 1987. I was only two.

    Thought I'd share that.

Well, good luck to you. And Derby. And QPR, Newcastle, West Brom and every other side folk support on here.

I aim to remain impartial to the end - unless an underdog story develops.

We've just sold our best player to one of our rivals.

We're fucked. We have no midfield beyond a skeleton first four. And we have 3 strikers on our books, one is always injured and the others a youth. Then again, we needed that last season. All we've done this pre-season is sell two of our best players, so last years 2nd is well out of reach unless the board actually do something.

About midtable. 4-6th. We'll be saved by sides who are worse than us and sides who are in terrible financial demises. (Thank god for Livingston and Ayr is what I say!)

When I was 3, Celtic finished 5th out of 10 in the top Scottish league, and Thistle just about made midtable in the First Division.

To be honest, my memory is so terrible I can't chid anyone for bad memories without looking like a hypocrite.

    Selectively awful though.

So I can recall our Playoff final win and relegations in detail, but I can't remember what I did last week.

And I remember Forest scoring in injury time to win their first league game of the season, against West Ham in 2004 the weekend after Cloughie passed.

And that weird Charlton 1-6 Leeds game from 2002-3.

And Alan Shearer's goal against Man U in the 2-1 home defeat in 2003/4.

You know, random stuff no one sane* recalls.

We've offered a contract to Sol Campbell. I'd rather have kept David Edgar.

Sol came out yesterday and said he wants to join a club with stability. I really don't think you fit the bill there.

Hopefully I want to go to the bloody away game.

I see Stockport and Exeter in the bottom 4. I reckon we MIGHT flirt with relegation but will have enough to survive, we are better equipped than Wycombe, Gillingham and Exeter anyway. Top 10 far too hard to predict, but expect Norwich, Leeds and Charlton to be up there obviously.

In League Two, Notts County are possibly the early favourites after being bought out by an arab worth $4bn so they could be spending 'big', they've already got Ben Davies.

Big Gay Sol is alright. He played well from January onwards and the two other seasons he was generally very good. Hope we keep him but I agree he's not the sort of player you should be looking at.

I actually think that you stand a decent chance of making the top ten. You seem to be the promoted side with the momentum at the moment and there's usually at least one Cub who goes up from League Two and who challenges for promotion the next season.

I think we'll finish around tenth next year. There's enough quality in our squad to finish ahead of the bad sides in the division (of which there are plenty) but nowhere near enough to challenge unless Tilly can bring in four or five loanees over the year as good as the ones he brough in last season (Stanislas, Dervite, Sawyer, Harding, Robinson, etc).

Yep rate him very highly. He went out on loan last year to either MK Dons or Luton, I can't remember but he saved a few penalties and stuff.

    Nice, he'd be good then.

    This is slightly worrying:
    http://www.hounslowchronicle.co.uk/w...9642-24086322/

FRUSTRATED Charlie MacDonald must wait another month before finding out when he can play football again.
the article doesn't make it sound career threatening though, just that he'll go back in a month when he actually has feeling back in his shoulder and see how long he'll be out for then.

So Roy Keane at Ipswich has signed Delaney who is Irish and Lee Martin, ex United. No suprises there then.

Delaney is a pretty good signing for us I think,

Martin - I've not seen much of him, is he any good?

I wish keen would go for Gary Neville and Paul Scholes imagine them two in town shirts ripping up the championship.

We've been linked with Phil Bardsley, Paul McShane and Carlos Edwards too...players who'll be decent in the championship but not so much in the prem me thinks
