And the board will always go for the cheapest option.

I was in the away end 100 yards and several dirty great posts seperated from where the goal went in....You can tell on the highlights that there is silence at first before the crowd notice the players reaction and guess that it is in. The referee and linesman could see the goal from a good position as well what we could see from mannerisms of the players and the City Crowd. How they managed to get the decision so unbelievably wrong is ludicrous

Well, JIJ, it should be fairly obvious to everyone that the referees should earn respect as much as they should be given it.
I mean, look at Collina. He made errors now and again. But people respected him, because he earned that through a career of making the correct decisions and doing what seemed right at the time.
Compare that to some of the idiots in England and Scotland now, who want to be the centre of attention and make many controversial calls, and so many of them wrong.
Respect should be earned, and then it is given. Instead of there being some sort of "do as we say, not as we do" mantra like the FA have now...
