I've been watching Christmas episodes of The Simpsons this morning. 'Marge Be Not Proud' from Season 7 is a heartbreaker.

You think? I think it's pretty decent. Christmas Eve in particular has a load of good stuff - Outnumbered, Peep Show, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Friday Night Dinner...the Spice Girls documentary I'm out that night but will be catching up during that lull between opening presents on Christmas Day and...well, the early kick-off on Boxing Day. Christmas Day is poop after about 11am.

Not sure if this is because of something I said years ago earlier in the thread or what, but it's sort of a blind spot for me...I've watched it before and enjoyed it, and have no reason not to watch it, in fact I'm a big fan of that sort of cosy, watch-in-bed stuff, but for whatever reason I've never bothered watching the series' through from start to finish. I've probably seen most or all of them at one time or another but I feel a bit detached from it, similar to Blackadder...saw the Blackadder Christmas Carol last night, was pretty good but again Blackadder is a show I've never watched properly despite knowing I would like it.

    Here we go:

Disclaimer; I love really shit telly and repeats. I try to show a majority of what's on but I won't be watching Downton and it won't be going in this list. I make no promises about the quality of these shows, I don't tend to put movies in either

    CBS = Could Be Shit

    Saturday 21st December
Liverpool vs Cardiff - BT Sport, 12pm. Footy

The Illusionists - ITV, 9.10pm. A prerecorded live magic show full of people I've never heard of.

Match of the Day - BBC1, 10.20pm. Footy

    Sunday 22nd December
Saints vs Spurs and Swansea vs Everton - SS1, 12.30pm. Footy

The 12 Drinks of Christmas - BBC2, 5.50pm. Apparently a repeat but I haven't seen it before. Giles Coren and Alexander Armstrong pick Christmas booze for stuff

The Sarah Millican Television Programme Christmas Special - BBC2, 10pm. It really is slim pickings today. Pip Schofield guests.

    Monday 23rd December
Arsenal vs Chelsea - SS1, 7pm. A nice big game.

    A Question of Sport Christmas Special - BBC1, 7.30pm.

Food Unwrapped's Christmas Dinner - C4, 8pm. Interesting food thing innit.

Would I lie to you? At Christmas - BBC1, 8.30pm. Christmas special of the panel show.

Heston's Great British Food - C4, 9pm. Interesting to a point but I can't help but feel he goes a bit over the top now "Creates a rice pudding that looks like a hotdog". OK.

John Bishop's Christmas Show - BBC1, 9pm. I think it's basically Michael McIntyres Comedy Roadshow but with Ian Bishop instead. Tim Vine and Jason Manford among guests.

Match of the Day 2 - BBC1, 10.35pm. For some reason not on the day before.

Peep Show - C4, 11.25pm. These are repeats, but they are showing 6 episodes back to back.

    Christmas Eve
Midsomer Murders - ITV, 8pm. I fucking love Midsomer Murders. New ep.

QI XL - BBC2, 9pm. New Christmas themed one.

Backchat with Jack Whitehall and His Dad Christmas Special - BBC3, 9.45pm. Not watched this and I dislike Jack Whitehall. Lee Mack is a guest though.

Not Going Out Christmas Special - BBC1, 10pm. Love this show. New episode

A League of Their Own Christmas Special - Sky1, 10pm.

    Christmas Day
    Soccer AM - SS1, 10am. CBS

Top of the Pops Christmas - BBC1, 2pm. Traditional.

    The Queen - BBC1/ITV, 3pm. Traditional.

Soccer Special - SS1, 5pm. Kammy in an elf outfit.

Doctor Who - BBC1, 7.30pm. I assume we're seeing the birth of Peter Capaldi

Eastenders - BBC1, 8.30pm. I normally wouldn't but apparently Danny Dyer turns up in this one. Should a be a fackin laugh.

Bear's Wild Weekend with Stephen Fry - C4, 8.30pm. The last few celeb ones he's done are normally quite good fun.

England vs Australia - SS1, 10.30pm. Cricket on Christmas Day, it's basically perfect.

Man Down Christmas Special - C4, 10.35pm. Greg Davies sitcom which I've seen bits of and enjoyed a lot.

    Boxing Day
Hull vs Man United - SS1, 12.30pm. Footy

City vs Liverpool - BT Sport1, 5.15pm. Footy

Still Open All Hours - BBC1, 7.45pm. David Jason not falling through a bar. CBS

Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2013 - C4, 9pm. Jack Whitehall, Micky Flanagan, Dara O'Briain, Kristen Schall, Noel Fielding and Richard Ayoade.

Match of the Day - BBC1, 10.25pm. Footy

    England vs Australia - SS1, 10.30pm.

    Friday 27th December
Fantasy Football Club - SS1, 6pm. I do like this show, but I'm only including it because of the synopsis it's given. "Key fantasy football issues."

Gordon Ramsey's Home Cooking - C4, 7.05pm. Probably no swears.

Celebrity Come Dine With Me - C4, 8pm. Daniella Westbrook, Louie Spence, Sinitta, Hugo Taylor.

    Saturday 28th December
    WHU vs WBA - SS1, 12pm. Footy

    Cardiff vs Sunderland - SS1, 5pm. Footy

All Star Family Fortunes - ITV, 7pm. CBS

The Cube: Celebrity Special - ITV, 8pm. Normally would be watchable but it's got people from Loose Women on it. CBS

    50 Funniest Moments 2013 - C4, 9pm. Countdown show with talking heads I guess.

I skimmed over a lot of it to be honest i'll watch the Brooker wipe because they are always good. I enjoy Not Going Out and i'll be at Hull City / Man Utd (reckon there might be a shock there if Van persie is on form)

One thing I noticed when picking stuff out this year; the overall calibre of content is much worse than previous years.

That or my telly standards have improved.

No complaints about the football and I like QI, Top Gear and 8/10 Cats, but the rest of it is gash. It's why Netflix was invented.

Surprised Turdy left The Look of Love off his list. Since I know he's a Steve Coogan fan. It's a comedy drama about Paul Raymond who opened Britain's first strip club in the 1950's.

    It's on Channel 4 10.20pm Dec 30th

House Of Fools returns on Sunday December 28th at 10pm as well. Pretty happy about this as I thought the first series was pretty good and I remember reading it had been axed.

Dr Who looks canny enough, mind after building all the kids stuff this year, eating the 19lb Turkey the Mrs will cook, putting away the bottle of reserve port in my cabinet and wiring in two new TVs and an Xbox I'll probably be unconscious by 6.

T’s and C’s – these are my choices and I generally don’t include movies. Things can be included on a hunch without knowing anything about them, but these Could Be Shit (CBS).

    Christmas Eve
    Blankety Blank – 6:30pm ITV

    Michael McIntyre’s Big Show – 7:25pm BBC 1 CBS

Who still watches panel shows? The format is so tiresome and boring.

I'll definitely be watching Charlie Brooker's 2016 wipe.

    Good lad turdy.

I still like panel shows, Cats Countdown in particular is good fun. The only one that feels properly tired and outdated to me is HIGNFY.

I've certainly missed Charlie Brooker's wipes this year, and Black Mirror didn't make up for it no matter what anyone says. Nope.

And extra Philomena Cunk is great news. Fucking love her so much.

We've had fun playing along with The Quiz Of The Year thing before, with drinks, pen and paper. Always better when Richard Ayoade is on.

Cats Countdown is one of my favourite TV shows. I don't particularly like Jimmy Carr, but Rachel Riley is one of the most sensational bits of fucking filth I've ever seen in my life. I love her. I mght try and meet her and fuck her.

How many times can ITV stick flipping Love Actually on this year? Apparently three times between ITV1 and 2.

Amazing Spider-Man 2 will be on ITV, I think on the 28th, so I might tune in for that...just to troll the one mate of mine who's a Gwen fan.

Taskmaster is probably one of the best shows on TV in the past few years. I heard that there are two more series in the pipeline, which is excellent.

I loved how many times Al Murray just threw, what I'd consider, serious amounts of his own cash at asks. And his big gong.

    .
"This year", I don't think he's made a series of them for about 5 years. And also I don't think anyone is suggesting that Black Mirror is an alternative.

The last series of Weekly Wipe was last year. Also I saw and read interviews with Brooker while he was promoting Black Mirror and he stated in both that there would have been a Screenwipe series this year (with reference to how shit of a year it's been) if he hadn't devoted his time to working on Black Mirror.

Turdy doesn't include movies, so this is the other side of the schedule. Anxiously awaiting his picks for actual TV specials.

Anybody been watching A Christmas Carol on BBC? Guy Pearce as Scrooge. Excellent piece of Christmas Telly, even if it does take some liberties with the source material. Wonder how they'll get everything wrapped up tonight.

I haven’t kept up with it lately, but if anyone’s not dead or in some sort of trouble in Eastenders this Xmas then that’s positive Christmas telly.
