The Butterfield Diet Plan from The Peter Serafinowicz show, which I think is hilarious.
Check out the Christmas special on the BBC iPlayer, think it is the funniest yet. I especially like the Butterfield character on the show but there are some other gems as well.
Think the main series can be a bit hit or miss with some of the sketches and characters but overall is an enjoyable watch.
The christmas special was fucking brilliant.
The estate agent was funny the first time, but it was the repeats of the sketch that ruined that one. OTherwise the whole show was genius.

Right ok I watched Bill Baileys DVD as I was given it by a friend for christmas.
It was pure shit and I will fight anyone who disagrees. He isn't that funny. He also thinks an awful lot of himself intellectually and I'm not quite sure where he has got this idea from.
Ohh also he made the stupidest joke the world has ever known which is people like huimself making fun of footballers FOR JUST KICKING A BALL AROUND bit rich coming from a man who tells shit jokes.
That last DVD is his worst.

Animated (poorly), mid-20's Tim with horrible luck always gets caught in the worst possible situation. Each episode is 12 minutes or so, there were 20 in the first season. I'm praying for a second.
Pretty much every character is great. The Boss and the Priest both surpass this. Especially wonderful episodes include: "Monday Night Confession" and "Mad Dog Tim"

Part Troll is pretty shit as well, everyone seems to love it though. Other than the weirdness value of seeing Kevin Eldon dancing to the hokey cokey in German, it was a bit dull. Bewilderness was pretty good though. His musical stuff is much better than his stand-up.

Coupling is a weird one IMO - at times it was inspired, with a Curb-esque ability to weave plots that all unravel at the end...but at times they tried too hard to develop that element and it was a little bit stupid. The episode with the language differences was spot on.
Another problem was that the three men were funny while the three women were absolutely not.
There are probably three or four women who can make me laugh. I hope I am not sexist by saying this.
Fuck, I'm having trouble coming up with that many.
Joan Rivers and Sarah Silverman are the only ones that make me laugh. Maybe there's something inherently funny about Jews. Jo Brand can, on occasion, say something funny but it's drowned in a sea of "I'm so fat/my husband's such a cunt" mediocrity.
The return of Shooting Stars was a little underwhelming, also. The documentary before it was great though.
Jessica Stevenson is a witty girl. Whenever I've seen her she genuinely makes me giggle. I am talking about funny on their own, not with a load of amazing shit some bloke has written for her for a shag.
Balls, it was classic. The opening bag of rats bit was genius. George's song was possibly the best ever.
I don't know, 'les jours heureux' was pretty amazing also.
Plus, HIP HOP IS THE BEST.
PEANUTS was the best IMO, but yeah that song was good. I liked the final challenge as well.

Yea the new Shooting Stars was pretty decent IMO, as if the show had never been off air at all, and a return to the glory years, before it all went a bit pants with Vegas and that writer guy I forget the name of.
Also whomever was talking about Jessica Stevenson being funny, I agree. I also find her to be very attractive nowadays, the humour maybe helps this though
Yeah, I find his pure comedy segments to be pretty poor. I find his music stuff tends to be a lot stronger ie his bits on U2, foreign sirens and cockney music's influence on classical music.
Regarding women in comedy, I honestly can't think of a single female comedian I find remotely amusing. The majority of them bog their comedy down in lazy 'look at me being a woman in a man's world' shit which is guaranteed to put me off straight away. Simon mentioned Jo Brand and her entire act seems to consist of reminding people she's a fat troll.
Also that she has periods, and a husband that actually wants to have sex with her.

It's Jessica Hines now. She got married. It's weird how good looking she got after Spaced. She was in some shit sitcom on the BBC, can't remember what it was called, and she is in some shit feature length program called Learners with David Tennant, I seen it advertised the other day.
Funny women I would have to say I can't think of one off the top of my head stand-up wise, but a few of the female cast in Gavin and Stacey pull off some top jokes and make me laugh. Ruth Jones is good in that and Saxondale.

She was quite cool on Buzzcocks, I think the reason I appreciate her more so than other comedic women is two-fold:
A) Spaced
B) She doesn't try half as hard as most women to portray any sort of image, and therefore doesn't embaress herself as much.

What did people think of Gavin And Stacey? I've now seen the show in it's entirety and I have to admit that I love it. Well-written characters, plenty of good jokes and some great performances, particularly Alison Steadman and Larry Lamb as Pam and Mick. Not jaw-droppingly funny and it's pretty cliched, but it's a nice, warm family comedy for the most part. Rob Brydon as Bryn is utterly brilliant.

I think it's pretty good. Funny show, every character is strong, great performances all round, funny jokes and a good story. The odd filthy jokes sprinkled through the show are well-played too, not too overt. Very enjoyable show.
I think it's a fantastic showing for two young writers. I know no-one's really mentioning 'Nessa and Smithy because they're the two fantastical, OTT, even pantomime characters, but those two really nail that weird/clingy/emotional-mate-we-all-have role so bloody well.
Rob Brydon brings an innocence to the Bryn part that is so honest, although verging on the unbelievably naive, that the 'secret' is something you want to find out so that you can automatically empathise with him rather than purely out of morbid fascination.
Larry Lamb is great. Although it would mean watching Eastenders, watch Eastenders to see how much of a believably despicable c^nt he is compared to the uber-cool, I-wish-he-was-my dad he plays in G&S.
Oh, and Joanna Page is disastrously fit. I definitely would, in a millisecond. Oh my lordy lordy lordo.
Oh pt. 2 - Sheridan Smith as Smithy's little sister; perfeck.
I've seen 7 or 8 episodes and definitely enjoyed them all. Smithy is hilarious in every one I've seen. I think my favorite character overall is Mick, though. Not exactly sure why, but I'm sure his handling of Pam's neuroticism is a large factor. Bryn's alright, but not my favorite.
BBC America stopped playing episodes of this and Coupling a few weeks ago, so I am going to have to try to find the box sets. I don't think it will be very easy here in the states.
It's excellent having Mick as the straight man to Pam. Good move that he always realises how ridiculous she is being and tells her off.

Not much comedy on at the moment, at least not well-known stuff. There's a new one on Channel 4 called Plus One starring Duncan from Blue (cunt) that is supposed to be crap, other than that I only bother with QI right now...new show from the writers of Peep Show starting on BBC soon though.
Changing subjects slightly to what I would call anti-comedy, has anyone actually found a single moment of MadTV to be remotely funny? Sometimes I will watch a few minutes here and there just to make sure I'm giving it a fair shake, and every time it's the same result ().
Even the worst SNL is better than the "best" MadTV I've seen.
Mad TV was ok to begin with, when Phil LaMarr and David Herman were on it.

I did not enjoy "9 1/2 minutes" at all.
This was the first time I've ever been in any kind of studio audience. Twas quality, cause we were with the SRO audiences thing they took us to the front of the queue. Everyone with SRO had to give in their coats and shit. I thought we'd be in the back somewhere in the shadows but no, fucking front row right next to the stage. I could literally touch Rufus Hound if I put my arm out. That's when I began to wish I made a bit of an effort dressing up or at least ironing my hoodie.
The show overall was ok for a panel kinda show thing. The guests were David Mitchell, the bloke that came 2nd in Celeb big brother (pretty funny), Jamelia and Rufus Hound. Charlie Brooker was amazing but I just don't think this format is gonna work. I hope I'm wrong and it will be interesting to see how it gets edited down.
David Mitchell needs a show just for himself where he complains about anything and everything for 1 hour.
Anyone see The Old Guys? New Bain and Armstrong vehicle....very strange atmosphere to it, but not terrible. Could improve.

Not as good as the pilot. Switched it off halfway through. Same with Plus One, actually, I liked the one-off but the series wasn't quite as good drawn out like that.
I've heard it has silly amounts of needless swearing. In fact the review I read of it said that it has tried to copy the swearing from The Thick Of It but didn't manage to make the swearing either intelligently funny in terms of what the swearing signifies (i.e. Malcolm's power) or base-level funny in terms of the insults themselves.

Horne and Corden's show is just as bad as Al Murray's. Unbelievably backwards shit. I thought we'd got past the Jim Davidson era of "gay = funny" but apparently not.
Having said that, Corden's impression of Ricky Gervais was spot on and fucking funny.
I watched a little bit of Horne and Corden's show, was absolutely dreadful. The closest bits to funny were basically physical displays of Corden's obesity.

Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle was spot on last night with the Del Boy falling through the bar. He did drag it on a bit, but it was still funny nonetheless. The show wasn't as good as last week but I think he is quite sort of hit and miss with his comedy. He still brought up some valid points. Also caught a little bit of Mitchell and Webb last night, is that a new series?
Stewart Lee's Comedy Vehicle is a very, very qeird mix of pretty good and meh, with the odd sprinkling of excellent. The persona he carries it off with onstage, however, strikes me as being far too similar to Jack Dee to make this anything vastly different on the comedy circuit. Alright though.
I thought the first episode was a lot better than this one. Also slightly hypocritical that his main joke of the show was covering people in shit.
I watched it and thought that it was very good. I also was laughing much more at Mitchell and Webb's sketches over the past couple of nights much more than I did on the original airing.

We Are Klang: It has Mr Gibson from the Inbetweeners in it along with two other guys who work for the council in some made up town. It's completely off the wall but I found it funny. It's on BBC Three on Thursday nights and repeated throughout the week.
We Want Answers: A quiz show that is a mix of Shooting Stars and a Dave Gorman stand-up. It has that annoying guy from the cider adverts but the star of the show is the guy who does the poetry on Charlie Brooker's Newswipe. It's really funny. BBC Four Tuesday nights.
We Are Klang is STUNNINGLY shit.
Has anyone been watching The Kevin Bishop Show on Channel 4? It's very odd...about two thirds of it is either terribly unfunny or terribly repetitive, or both. The rest is very, VERY funny.
The "Think: Get Married Sensibly" was brilliantly written and excellently performed. If that had been part of the Cholmondley-Warner series from Harry Enfield And Chums (in the context of the real advert being around, of course), people would cream themselves. As it is, I imagine it will be dismissed as lazy, derivative or just plain, old-fashioned "fucking shit" because it's part of this show.

I never got into Teachers but everyone seems to think it's great, should I give it another go?
