Callahan had a four way at Rising Above and maybe some other stuff at other Chicago shows, but this will be his first 'real' match if you will.

    QUESTION ALL

Will Sami Callahan's match with Aries on 2/27 be his first in ROH? Or at very least his highest profile, right?
He's done some four man stuff, but never a highlighted match like this.

SUPER excited about it. Callihan is fucking fantastic.

If Callihan was the next World Champion, I would be the biggest Ring of Honor fan the world has ever seen.

Yeah because I felt kind of offended at the time, and then to add to that people on the same trip on the same day then told me of their experiences.

So when you've met someone, anyone in life, just a regular guy or regular girl, what do you say when asked about them?

Yeah I met them, totally cool, but I shouldn't say that because I don't actually know them.

    Would you actually say that?

I have just seen the Tyler Black vs. Samoa Joe match.

    Fuck Tyler Black.

This was Joe's big come back to ROH; he was stoked, the fans were stoked, I was stoked, EVERYONE was fucking stoked. Joe was coming back to give one more, possibly one last, ROH Joe classic.

    Again, fuck Tyler Black.

Fuck him for being unconvincing when he was 'dominating' with his babyface moveset as a Goddamned HEEL. Fuck him for having absolutely ZERO presence to make it look like he belonged in the ring with Joe, and instead made it a 'wait around until Joe hits all his moves' nostalgia match (though I did gain some perverse pleasure in witnessing Tyler kick out of the Island Driver at one...to NO REACTION). Fuck him for making what may be the last time Joe steps into a ROH ring a medicore performance.

    Fuck Tyler Black.

Alright, alright, but I've been in social situations with many ROH wrestlers on quite a few occasions, so can probably pass judgement on what a few of the guys are like.

You'll probably try and make me look like an idiot here as well though, so go ahead....

While we're on the topic of some of the ROH guys being asshats, I submit Austin Aries.

What a douchebag. Also, Jimmy Jacobs tried to get me ejected which was very lame.

Like I said about Jacobs, I've been sat around tables and in group conversations that he was a part of, and he came out with some really stupid opinions on several subjects.

Cabana and Nigel and Homicide as well actually made you feel pretty easy in their presence, I didn't feel like I was bellow them at all, whereas a few of the other guys would really talk down to you and stuff which I didn't like.

Didn't Aries throw a pickle at your face for calling Danielson a douchebag, chot? That actually sounds pretty awesome to me.

More at my head than my face, but yeah. I like to claim credit for the whole Aries punching a fan thing since I started it the night before.

    That's epic.

You're lucky that you got to see them. I probably would have freaked out like a girl if I was sitting in a booth next to Danielson.

Aries has a really high opinion of both himself and his abilities, when the fucker stopped being awesome somewhere around 2006 and just became a, "I'll kill the first eight minutes or so with pointless matwork that goes nowhere before I hit some big MOVEZ" wrestler.

And now, with the fans gradually finding out that yes, Aries is an opinionated douchebag who thinks that because he voted for Obama he's the hottest thing since sex, he's stolen Joey Ryan's gimmick to become a subpar sleazy man.

Still, he's at least charismatic to a degree, so fuck him less than Tyler Black.

EDIT: Oh, and yes Hero, Kamen Rider is fucking awesome.

    Did we all know this?

    - The TV Tapings done for HDNet will be exclusive property of HDNet for an undisclosed amount of time, possibly a year, which means that the footage will not be immediately released on DVD. The hope is that the weekly TV show will generate interest in ROH PPV and DVDs.
It's a somewhat important point anyway.

Yeah I saw that somewhere else as well.

Supposedly, the first show will be airing 2ish months after the tapings.

When I get done watching Final Battle 2008 and All-Star Extravaganza IV I'll tell you if I would recommend them. Others I would recommend:

Take No Prisoners (Nigel/Black, Danielson/Aries, Street Fight, bonus Briscoes match from NOAH)
    Manhattan Mayhem II (Danielson/Morishima, Steenerico/Briscoes 2/3 Falls)
    Driven (Danielson/Nigel, Danielson/KENTA, Briscoes/Steenerico, Sydal/Claudio)
Supercard of Honor III (Aries/Nigel, BxB Hulk-Shingo/Steenerico, Briscoes/AofF street fight)

I wouldn't call those essentials. Those are just the DVDs in my collection that I have watched that I would suggest.

I just watched Danielson/Morishima from Final Battle 2008. Great stuff. Don't know if it was their best match, but a fitting end.

The new cameras look great and Hammerstein looked awesome jam packed.

    I WILL PERSIST.

Though apparently they went back and added all sorts of terrible promos to the early shows. I owned the way early version of Era of Honor Begins and it was just matches. Now i'm watching Da Hit Squad cut a 20 minute promo about how WWE sucks.

    Joy.

I'm pretty sure it was always like that. The ones you bought and we watched together were second-hand releases that were trimmed down, I believe.

Cewsh look for me at the following shows:

Glory By Honor 6 Night 1 (fourth row in the middle of the top right - at one point I'm buy Dragon's nose)
Take No Prisoners (during Tyler/Nigel, you can see me getting madder and madder that Nigel hasn't won).
Southern Navigation (just watch when Nigel is introduced in the ring)
Fueling The Fire (you know where)
All Star Extravaganza IV (I yell Kensuke very loud at one point)
Full Circle (at the conclusion of the main event, I ball up my fists and say "NO WHAT THE FUCK!")

    Bonus points for screen grabs.

Nope, not really. But I really, really want to believe that we will.

And i'm starting from the beginning, as far as I know it. Era of Honor Begins.

Screen grabs are for less lazy people. I'll give you a shout out if I notice you though. It'll be awhile before I get that far.

Vice can be seen on the night that Aries wins the title from Joe, I believe.

I should have run out and hugged Kobashi to get on camera.

Ring of Honor is proud to announce that it has signed a multi-event agreement with the legendary "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. His first appearance with the company will be in the St. Louis area on Friday, March 13th at the Gateway Center located at One Gateway Drive, Collinsville, IL 62234. Tickets for this historic event are now on sale at www.rohwrestling.com.

Ric Flair is a legend in this industry and has been a huge influence on the careers of many Ring of Honor stars," said Ring of Honor president Cary Silkin. The name ‘Flair’ has been synonymous with professional wrestling in the United States over the past 30 years, and it’s a wonderful privilege to have Ric appearing in Ring of Honor, adding his name to the list of legends that have set foot in the ROH ring. We agreed that the St. Louis area would be perfect for his first appearance in ROH because of his great wrestling history in that area. What could be a more wonderful way to say ‘thank you’ to those great St. Louis fans for supporting ROH than to bring the “Nature Boy” back to town one more time?

Flair will be in the St. Louis area on March 13th for a special meet & greet autograph session that will be held from 6pm-8pm at The Gateway Center and he will also appear before the live crowd later that evening during the event. And apparently Lenny Leonard has been fired and replaced with Mike Hogewood who I've seen do some ACC football and basketball games. No idea what he knows about wrestling though.

Or if I was being accurate, won't be used on the TV tapings but could still be used for PPV and TV.

Never mind, the newswire sorts it out.

February 16th: Ring of Honor is happy to welcome Mike Hogewood into the fold. He will be handling the play-by-play duties on the upcoming HDNet television series, and we’re excited for Mike to bring his extensive broadcasting experience and wrestling enthusiasm to the company. A former sports director for CBS affiliate WFMY-TV in Greensboro, North Carolina, Mike has worked with a host of sports outlets. His vast resume includes work for Raycom Sports, FSN South, Sun Sports, New England Sports Network, Comcast Sports Net, the SPEED Channel, and of course, HDNet. “We’re excited about the style he’ll bring to our broadcasts,” said ROH President Cary Silkin. “But not to worry, Lenny Leonard fans, Lenny isn’t going anywhere and will still handle play-by-play on ROH DVD releases!”
Back to Flair, if he's appearing at multiple shows, I'd think he'd be at the Houston Mania shows and hopefully the Hammerstein show and maybe a Charlotte debut?

And D'Lo will be at the Hammerstein show. :headwaggle:

Ring of Honor officials, in conjunction with Kensuke Office, are proud to announce the ROH return of the current GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion, Katsuhiko Nakajima. On February 11th, Nakajima squared off with KENTA at the Kensuke Office event held at Korakuen Hall and after nearly forty minutes of hard hitting action, the challenger was able to capture the title from the champion.

Now, on April 3rd and 4th, Nakajima will make his return to ROH competition for the first time in 2009 as part of the pair of huge events taking place in Houston, TX. In each of his previous appearances in ROH, Nakajima made quite an impression on the fans and the members of the ROH locker room. At “Glory by Honor VII”, Nakajima actually challenged Bryan Danielson for the GHC Jr. Title he now holds in an epic contest. While at “All Star Extravaganza IV” and “Final Battle 2008” he and Kensuke Sasaki made an impact on the chests and faces of Roderick Strong & Brent Albright and the Briscoes respectively.

Nakajima’s matches will be made official in the coming weeks so stay tuned to www.rohwrestling.com for upcoming Newswires and announcements. Tickets are also available for both April 3rd and 4th with special sale pricing in effect until Wednesday, February 18th at noon EST.
Hopefully two singles matches - maybe against Aries and Strong?

    We'll probably get Jay/Nakajima vs. Davey/Eddie though.

Also, D'lo at the Hammerstein is fucking awesome.

    Who knows? I might.

At any rate, it may make me as fond of the product as I was then, though I honestly doubt it.

It's not Austin Aries anymore, it's Austin Aries the guy who doesn't do any wrestling moves but spins on top of his opponent instead.

Nakajima/Aries would probably be a huge fucking letdown.

Nakajima should face Necro Butcher, maybe they'd gel

    I wanna see Nakajima/Aries
And if Aries gimmicks it up and turns the fans against him, RIGHT ON!
maybe Nakajima will kick him so hard he's forced to bring back the old Aries to save his life.

Why? This new Aries is actually interesting. Sure, he's like a sub-par Joey Ryan, but at least I don't have to pretend that he's the awesome 05 Aries anymore.

I just find him to be a letdown in the ring. I was really looking forward to Aries/Lynn and it was really fucking deflating. Arguably took the crowd out of the rest of the show.

I just watched Lynn/Danielson from ASE IV. Wouldn't call it great, but it was good stuff.

I'm glad Lynn's gotten this last run in ROH. He really does still have it.

I always enjoy Nigel on commentary.

Lynn to the crowd: Ring of Honor has some of the best wrestlers on the face of the Earth
Nigel on commentary: Yeah, and I'm the best one

Once again, I love the new cameras!

They announced Ric Flair had signed a multi-event agreement (five appearances for $15,000 apiece, plus two first class plane tickets, first class hotel and limo transportation) starting with the 3/13 show in Collinsville, IL (just outside of St. Louis). He will be doing both pre-show autograph sessions as well as in-ring interviews during the shows. Three of the five appearances will be on Fridays because he’s got so many Saturdays booked. Even if they can make that up with 350-500 fans bringing one or two items for him to sign so he may very well pay for himself and then some, and if he does, that’s great business. This didn’t help morale given the talks of wrestlers getting their health insurance cut and with the new contracts being offered, nobody is getting raises past minor increases of like $25 per show, and they are getting less than their usual rate for the TV tapings. Many of the key guys, including Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness, have not signed new deals. HD Net wants everyone signed by the taping. Like with TNA, there is a feeling that most of the guys don’t have a lot of options so it’s a buyers market right now.
    From Cewsh's boy.

So two more Friday shows and two more Saturday shows in addition to the already announced St. Louis gig.

The Friday Houston show makes sense (and could also save ROH a bit of money as he'd already be in the area). The other Friday shows scheduled as of now are Montreal, Dayton, Boston, Manassas and Detroit (ignoring the Pittsburgh debut). Maybe Dayton to make up for the last two shows there? Boston/Detroit seem more likely, especially because the Manassas venue can't possibly hold more than 700ish.

For the Saturdays, you've got Indianapolis, New York, Houston, Toronto, Chicago and Edison so far. Not sure if they'd use him back to back days, New York they have to, he probably has commitments for Houston, and any of Toronto/Chicago/Edison are possibilities.

And this doesn't account for whatever the next Philly show is.

Shitty news about no more insurance and minuscule pay raises as well.

Sorry, but I don't think bringing in Flair is worth +$75,000.

Even if they do break even, I'd rather see them spend that on the wrestlers.

I'd rather see them trim that done to 3 appearances. Like St. Louis, Houston, and New York. With the rest going towards signing guys like McGuinness and Danielson to new deals. That's more important.

I wouldn't spend $30 on a Ric Flair autograph or anyone's autograph pretty much.

    Can someone explain "Cewsh"?

For making Ring of Honor look more credible and important, an appearence by Flair is worth a hundred no name indy guys.

    It's a two sided sword.

He'll end up costing $80k or thereabouts when you take travel expenses into consideration. I know for the St. Louis show, before they made the Flair announcement, second row tickets were available but now it's back to fourth. So if they can advertise well enough for each appearance (another expense), I'd have to think that with the extra tickets and autograph fees they should be able to make a profit. Plus, the Flair DVD's will no doubt sell a bit better - a Flair/Sweeney strut off, Flair/Nigel promo, Flair/Titus, Flair/Dragon, Flair/Black, Flair/Davey and who knows what else. And what would be best is if some WWE fan comes for Flair, buys a ROH DVD with Punk on the cover while he's there (lets be honest - it's a he), stays for the show and likes what he sees and starts buying more. That's what they should be using Flair for. If they use him in the right markets (ones with wrestling history where ROH can use him to increase their market penetration), they could get more loyal consumers. Five per market who go to all their 'home' live shows and buy DVD's at the event and nothing else would end up being around $10000 in revenue. Then more if they buy DVD's from the website, bring a long a friend, be dorks and take a bus up to New York. That's all good.

But if the Flair people come, watch the show, don't get Aries, why this pasty skinny white motherfucker is God, what the hell the big deal with this emo kid is and pretty much everything else and tells a friend, that's bad. And then it becomes "you brought Flair in but now you have to cut back on my dates" which could be horrible.

It's a risk and it has TONS of upside, but they need to manage it well. They fucking suck at advertising their product and need to take a page out of the Obama handbook and use their fucking message board and all those hardcore fans to advertise their product. They've started doing it recently, but the flyers are relatively shitty and generic looking.

Why has ROH never invested in street teams? Or internet teams, for that matter?

Its the same thing that video games companies do. You go to wrestling message boards, talk about how ROH is awesome and how you go to every show, and give the details, and boom. Free advertising. Seems like something that would help a company like this.

...chotzilla? Do they already employ you for this?

Recently (around the time Gabe was let go I think) they started making flyers for upcoming events and encouraging fans to print them out and pass them around, but prior to that it was all done by people taking the initiative on their own. I think that JSWO cat that has horrible opinions would even invite people to his house to make flyers and give them a DVD from his collection.

Even just going to some local shitty indy and putting shit on car wipers. It's annoying, but it's cheap and pays for itself.

And honestly I'd love to work for ROH. They have a shitty marketing campaign and I feel like it'd be a good place for me as I'll (eventually?) have my marketing degree and an interest in the actual product. It's dumb luck that so many people know about ROH. Think about how you found out. I vaguely recall coming across internet reports on various websites and then more detail on a message board. The ROH website itself is garbage and the message board is never open for registration so you can't ask simple questions. The free shit they have on ROHVideos.com or their Youtube page is like Nigel vs. TJ Perkins and Hero vs. Pelle - just random jobber matches. But the problem with that is that in the Nigel match, fucking TJ Perkins kicks out of the Tower of London twice or something ridiculous.

And honestly I fucking hate how they have the tickets section of their website laid out. It's not in chronological order which makes the most sense but in alphabetical by their internal code which is the most fucked up way. There are so many simple things that wouldn't cost that much money that could improve what they do. And to make more money - charge a premium for aisle seats and seats against the entrance ramp. For the first two rows a premium of $2 and $1 for all the other rows is roughly $30 per show, times 40 shows is $1200. And I don't think anyone would really mind. Or sell 'season tickets' where you can buy the same seat for all the shows at a venue. Give a discount since they buy in advance but then you make the fucking interest on that and have less to worry about. Say you run Manassas three times a year - charge $125 for a front row seat. You lose $25, but you have that shit sold. Or even a special online club where you get access to DVD's/tickets early or special deals only for club members where you pay a $20 a year membership fee. Maybe random buy 2 get 1 free sales or a 40% for two days only sort of thing. But the $20 is what you get and then to justify that people will buy shit and keep buying shit so you get rid of old inventory.

It's honestly like they aren't trying at all.

Like why the fuck are DVD's priced at $20? Nobody buys those shits at full price because there is always a fucking sale. Fix that. Some people even say "oh I'll just wait until it's on the $10 sale" which should be horrid. I feel like when I go visit Lem I should print out these string of posts and talk to Cary.

    Also look at this:

I saw this for the first time two minutes ago and spotted an error within five seconds. And this is the Ric Flair show. I mean what the fuck sort of company is this? A spelling error when you're trying to get new fans? Horrible.

Edit: I just posted in the flyers thread on the ROH board pointing out the typo. They put up this flyer on 2/16 and I guess no one spotted it. The post prior to mine in there is about how they have the wrong address for the Pittsburgh show. I'll keep an eye on it to see if they correct the flyer and/or delete my post.

I can honestly say that Ring of Honor has never once sold me on any product of theirs through any sort of marketing.

That DVD cover looks cheap and shabbily done, the Ric Flair picture is probably the worst possible, and even the fonts look like somebody put it together on their grandma's basement.

They seem to want to be taken seriously as a product, but they don't pout any effort into the simple details. They want to go national with a non existent marketing crew, an unsure booking situation, and an obviously faulty business model? Ask Paul Heyman how well that works out.

Shit, they still come out in front of lights so bright you can't even see them clearly on their way to the ring, with music you can hardly hear that is copyrighted, and they come out from a curtain, through which you can still see the backstage area when they come out. It just all LOOKS cheap.

Not a DVD cover - a flyer to promote the show - but the point is the same. And it's one of the better looking ones.

They have the new cameras and are getting new non-copyrighted music but they are skipping like ten steps.

I think I will actually try to pull Cary aside and see what is up. I mean, I know I personally sold two front row tickets and two third row tickets to the Manassas shows - so like $130 ish that was all dependent on me pushing my friend to go.

Honestly I really want to work their now. Would be great for the resume. Basically start their marketing from scratch. They severely need to hire a marketing agency as it doesn't appear they have anyone in house that can handle it.

Even when you fucking buy tickets from them. They mail it in the standard envelope that has the ROH name and address stamped on it with one of those stampers you can buy at Staples and shitty man handwriting. Can you not print out the envelope from Word? That's a fucking little thing but it would make you look so much more professional.

Completely agree, and I wish I could believe that he'll take advantage of your enthusiasm.

Everything i've heard from Cary is that they think that they have things totally under control. Now that's the kind of thing any intelligent owner of a company would say, but I really hope that they understand the need for improvement. Things simply aren't up to the standards they're trying to set, and they do really need the help. The whole thing seems like there's hardly anyone in charge, and there's no professional veneer anywhere to be seen.

I want to love Ring of Honor, I do. But they have miles to go before they're anything more than the best indy available.

Yeah he talks to fans but if you aren't Greg H who knows if he listens.

The thing is, without knowing all the facts they could be doing quite well. Take the inventory. They've got tons of old DVD's. If they're a FIFO company (first in first out) that shit is hurting their bottom line and they should be trying to move it as fast as they can. Have a 2002 sale where you get all remaining DVD's from that year at $8 a pop. And I personally buy DVD's for every event I attend, but not everyone does and some people only if it's good. And with the rush you get from being their live, you always think it's better than it was. So why not let people pay for the DVD then as long as they buy an older one and give them a discount of some sort? Or let people fucking pre-order DVD's. People probably know if they're going to buy any of the January shows so why not get their money now? I'd hope they are getting around 1% interest so they could make some money by literally doing nothing. Pure unadulterated profit.

Agreed. Business-wise, they're absolutely horrible. Product-wise, it's debatable and potentially going downhill.

Yet I'm the one who almost got kicked out of the last Manassas show.

    Hostile takeover time.

We'd probably run it into the ground. I don't know anything about contacting and booking venues, writing and legalizing contracts, or branding and centralizing a product.

So you do all that, and i'll book this nonsense.

SAMI CALLIHAN VS. RHETT TITUS AT GLORY BY HONOR.

The only thing stopping me from thinking that you two could make it work is the fact that Nigel can't wrestle every match. If you could get Chot past that issue, then it'd work.

I loathe Nigel and think that he's overrated.

So we would find a pleasant medium.

Rhett Titus and Sami Callihan are the two men I would build the next generation around.

Pelle could be in there as well.

They would be treated nicely, and very gently shown the door.

Ring of Honor is entirely too beholden to NOAH. ROH gets Marufuji for a month and then loses Danielson for half a year. Its unbalanced, and the Japanese guys have worn out whatever draw they initially had from overbooking, and stale feuds.

An occasional appearence is still a good idea, but having half your roster belong to another company is so self destructive that it defies belief.

I never quite understood why the Japanese were rarely, if ever, used to get ROH wrestlers over with a win. I believe Go was the only wrestler used that way and KENTA when he fought Danielson.

That would be because NOAH has all the power in the relationship.

Which is exactly why it should be ended immediately.

    Hardly.

    They got KENTA and Marufuji.

That's all Gabe wanted in the first place, and the relationship has continued despite the thrill having worn off entirely.

Honestly? The only thing Ring of Honor got, was fulfillment for their head booker's fantasies.

Haha yup. I was supposedly getting tickets to the next Boston show in time for Christmas. Just got em yesterday. Granted, the mailman delivered it to the wrong address, but ROH promised express delivery and mailed it standard. The envelope looks like it came from an elementary school.

Well. I think they help keep the roster fresh and provide interesting match ups. I don't like when they are used like Ibushi was. I mean he's a nobody in Japan but in ROH it was OMG IIBUSHI KOUTAAAAAAA IKNOWKANJIII~.

Well the Kobashi show is their best selling show. I'm pretty sure that KENTA/Danielson Marufuji/Nigel show is close to the top as well.

In all seriousness, I just found out I have family that own some nice hotels by MSG and so I might see if I can get a room there when I go up to visit Lem if his living situation is as shitty as he made it sound, and I can see myself going "here Nigel you take the hotel room I'll sleep on my friends floor. No no please go ahead. Please no I insist."

    Misawa as well.

Actually you know the Misawa show is a perfect example of what ROH should be doing. I had followed ROH more or less for a while but when I heard Misawa was coming over I actually went. Bought a ticket and four DVD's while I was there. Then I went again and bought four more DVD's for Take No Prisoners. Been to all three Manassas shows and another Philly show and have 16 DVD's. Bringing in Misawa got me to spend $450 and I in turn got someone else to spend about $130 or so. They need to do more shit like that.

Colt Cabana has been released by the WWE so I'm guessing we'll see him when the 90 days is up.

Never was a fan of his.

February 20th: ROH officials are currently in negotiations to bring a number of International competitors to Ring of Honor. There have been ongoing talks with up-and-coming Mexican talents, and we hope to have an announcement in the next couple of weeks. In addition, several phone calls have been exchanged with the representatives of a very high profile talent looking to make his return to ROH. More on these developments as they occur.

I'm guessing they'll bring some guys from Mexico in for the Houston shows. Everyone on the ROH board has been crying about not having the Dragon Gate guys on the WrestleMania weekend shows.

I hope the 'high profile talent' is London and I wish they'd bring is ass in already.

Why are the DG guys not scheduled to compete?

Agreed on London. I'd like to see ROH get back to the junior style in the main event. I'll take London, Danielson, Aries, Davey, Strong etc. competing for the world title over Steen, Stevens, Claudio, Albright, and other big guys that don't have what it takes to replace Nigel at the top.

Basically ROH isn't flying in as many Japanese guys. Also CIMA was key in the ROH-DG relationship and he's on the outs and I'm guessing Pearce doesn't have a boner for six man spotfests. I'm really not bothered by it. It was amazing to watch the first time. But then not so much.

Absolutely, and those guys were all top international stars when they came in, and wrestled ROH's top guys and hot points. They also both happened years ago.

Why Shiozaki? Why Sasaki's little buddy? Why, for fuck's sake, let one of them be one of the incredibly short list of champions in your company's history?

    Its all backwards and wrong.

It can't be special unless its RARE. When Kobashi came, I already had plans to go to Ohio that weekend, so I drove 9 hours from Virginia to Ohio, stayed for half a night, drove 9 hours back to Virginia to scoop up Vice, then drove 6 hours to Philadelphia to see Kobashi (the tag match, not vs. Joe), and then drove back. 48 hours, 30 in the car. And it was worth it.

Do they expect the same for Shiozaki? Sasaki? Because if they do, then they're deluding themselves. I know they have no say, because they're so far in debt to NOAH after getting Kobashi, Misawa, and Sasaki that they're pretty much their bitches at this point, but the whole thing was wrongheaded from the start. Gabe WANTED to be the developmental territory for NOAH, and he was absolutely certain that the fans would love the idea too.

Now he's out of a job.

I think you're not looking at it quite right.

It has become overdone (Hyping a four show tour by Kota Ibushi? Really?) but it was beneficial for the company. My example above from the Misawa show is what they were using the legends for. At Glory By Honor 6 in Philly, the autograph lines were fucking immense. Misawa was $20 and KENTA, Marufuji and Morishima were $10 each.

Kobashi has been once, Misawa once, and Sasaki twice (not counting the Japan show). Morishima, KENTA and Shiozaki were over for a year basically and took part in storylines. Marufuji was basically a part of the ROH roster for the longest time. Shingo was over for a long time as well.

ROH was the farm terrirtory for NOAH, but you say that like it's a bad thing. Go had some fun matches in the midcard (the three way at A New Level, NRC/NOAH), Morishima had epic battles with Danielson, and KENTA and Marufuji were used against a wide array of talent.

It did have diminishing returns, but it freshened up the product.

It freshened up the product in 2007. It is 2009.

My point was simply that there is no sense in continuing with things as they've been. If we're reengineering the product, the Japanese guys and the relationship with NOAH have become a weakness rather than a strength. Mills asked me what I thought they should do, and that's what I think.

We've had Kobashi, Misawa, Sasaki, KENTA, and Marufuji. Its time to move on.

    Um, alright.

If you mean live, then probably, because i've never seen him live. If you mean having seen matches, then you may very well have. Why would that make any difference about anything?

Marufuji is great, and I love him to pieces, but he is just one part of a detrimental promotional arrangement, that is hurting the company right now. I was asked how I would go about fixing the company and I answered.

It doesn't. I just wanted to rub it in.

Maru is never detrimental. Everyone else is.

In seriousness, the roster is just really meh right now. I don't follow other promotions that much, but there doesn't seem to be all that many people who could be brought in and it's just getting a bit stale right now.
