I like the GL suit. Not only does it fit the actual character, it looks awesome. Polar opposite of the Thor pic.

    Higher Res link HERE

Basically looks like someone painted this green:

Also his mask and hemline seem to be painted on. Almost as if it's just his skin a different colour like The Hulk

Dissapointed that Norton's out as Hulk, but I'm definitely a fan of Ruffalo, so hopefully he takes the role. Not really liking the Green Lantern pic. It doesn't have me as worried as the Thor image does, but still, it's not doing anything for me.

It is just his skin. There is no Green Lantern suit. It is a construct of the Power Ring.

Yea it seemed as much in the image, has that always been the case in the comic?

I know the ring constructs the suit itself, didn't know the suit was his skin until I saw that image though.

Now they've taken out the black, I am curious to see whether being entirely green is going to work on film though. I guess it worked for Hulk, but I can't help but feel this will look slightly dafter.

Seeing the GL costume in hi-res makes me wonder of there will be any black? Personally, I would have put a black outline at least, but ehh. At this moment I think both movies will be good.

I'm really worried about this Thor movie, but so far it looks good, and Branaugh can do no wrong, so hopefully I'm just being a worrywort.

And that GL costume is atrocious, I hope that is only his costume for like ... the final fight scene or something.

I need to see a decent full body shot of the GL costume to really judge it. It looks kind of weird at this point.

The Thor costumes look a little worse than I had hoped, a little too 'Batman & Robin' mixed with Iron Man. But, it could look better in other shots and in action, as opposed to just a couple of still shots. Also, I REALLY hope there's helmets that go with the attire, 'cuz that could really make it work a lot better.

Kevin Bacon has joined the cast of "X-Men: First Class":

Details of his role are being kept under wraps, but sources tell us he will play a villain, sparring against protagonists Charles Xavier, played by James McAvoy, and Magneto, Michael Fassbender’s role. It’s not clear who Bacon’s character is specifically, or how he’ll figure into the X-Men universe, but it will be fun to watch. Deadline Hollywood first reported this last week.

Also joining the team is up-and-comer Jennifer Lawrence who received raves earlier this year for her leading role in the Sundance smash Winter’s Bone. The 19-year old actress will play Mystique, the role originated by Rebecca Romijn in the X-Men trilogy. The Hollywood Reporter first reported this news today.

Twentieth Century Fox declined to comment on either casting addition. Filming is set to begin this summer in London.
A summary of the other cast confirmed so far:

Sean Cassidy: Caleb Landry Jones (“No Country For Old Men”)

EW has also indicated Lucas Till ("Hannah Montana: The Movie") could be negotiating to play Cyclops' kid brother, Alex "Havok" Summers, who can expel plasma blasts. AICN sources have suggested Aaron Johnson, who played the title role in "Kick-Ass," will play Scott "Cyclops" Summers, though another Entertainment Weekly story indicates Johnson will not be in "First Class." Fox has yet to weigh in on Cyclops casting.

Fox plans to release "First Class" next June.

d1 would probably know better than I, but I'm positive that that's not the case. The ring creates the suit, but this thing looks like green energy over his body instead of an actual suit. Perhaps that's how it looks at first, with his suit changing as he gets better at using the ring?

Kevin Bacon in First Class ... hmmm. I always REALLY wanted him to be Gambit, he would have been perfect, but that's not gonna happen here ... unless they do the Morlock Massacre story as the plot, then he could be there, but I highly doubt that to be the case. Though it does mean that Bacon could be someone else, and a GREAT choice would be Sinister. I'd love to see a Bacon Sinister.

And the suit being a suit or a construct of the ring is generally a "rule of awesome" where different artists draw it different ways. It doesn't really matter, though. It DOES matter how it looks. And it looks like bullshit. That is NOT what the GL suit looks like. There are literally 100s of variations on how to make that suit based on the comics, and NONE of them on Hal look like that. The ONLY thing that would make that allowable as a suit is if it was actually the Ion suit, and somehow the story turns into Hal absorbing the Ion Entity. But then, fuck that, because KYLE is the original Ion, not fucking Hal.

Anyway you slice it, that suit is bullshit.

Kick-Ass was wank-shit trash for delusional, white, middle-class pussies. I find it hard to relate to these weak sauce "real world characters" that dominate these comic book movies.

Most modern comic books are garbage. Oddly enough, the franchise characters like Batman and Superman have some of the best stories around. Grant Morrison is responsible for "All-Star Superman" (the best Superman story ever) and "Batman and Robin" (a bizarre saga with DIck Grayson taking over for his mentor and Bruce Wayne's brash and violent son, Damien Wayne, acting as Robin),

Also, Alan Moore is a sad old faggot (THAT LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVES MAGIC!!!!!!!!) who is only massively popular because he wrote a pseudo-intellectual soap opera involving super heroes. If you still want to keep your mouth around this dude's dong, then go read one of his new books about REAL MAGIC.

Gambit is a good fit for some movies, though maybe the second part, based on his origin in Paris with Sabretooth, would be a better prospect, similar to how they gave Nightcrawler some scope when they had time in X-Men 2: X-Men United

    Odin closeup...

    Hogun & Fandral. I'm assuming that's Volstagg's leg...

    Loki & Frigga...

Thor looks like he's holding something; possibly a helmet...

    THE GOON

I literally only just heard about this, but the footage looks superb

Produced by David Fincher and starring Paul Giamatti and Clancy Brown. The film is an adaptation of a Dark Horse Comic that basically follows a mob enforcer and his loud-mouthed friend's bizarre adventures in a gangster era world.....filled with demons and vampires and monsters and zombies.

Footage is below, I urge you to check it out

JJ Abrams and Joss Whedon's panel is currently running at Comic Con, I'll edit in any information as I get it (no I'm not there)

Whedon just confirmed that he IS directing The Avengers. Which we all assumed, but first confirmation

Oh wow, they both come to Comic-con saying that they can't really discuss much about their two biggest up-coming films (Avengers/Super-8) as they're so early in production. Lame

When can we expect the Scott Pilgrim panel? I'm off to bed but cant wait to wake up and read all the things that have been announced.

I really hope on Sunday that the Paul panel unveil what Paul will actually look like. (Sorry should I just keep this strictly comic based or can we mention anything from Comic Con?)

I think we should go with anything from Comic-Con.

Technically it is a COMIC convention.

And I dunno about the Pilgrim panel to be honest.

At the Pilgrim panel they gave out buttons to random people. At the end of the panel anyone with a button was invited to a screening of the film. I haven't read anything other than that yet about it.

And Thor's helmet is on dsiplay there!!

Priest, Green Hornet and The Other Guys are just starting at the moment.

    I believe Priest is first

Detailed shot of Thor's Helmet. I think like it, it looks a bit techy though. Now we just need to see him wearing it...

Not very happy with Destroyer as the villain for the Thor flick, but I bet it'll turn out well. I'm still holding out for a different actor to play Donald Blake (though I'm pretty sure that ain't happening) and for two sequels: Beta Ray Bill and then the Wrecking Crew!

I think Destroyer works well for the first film. Thor doesn't exactly have the greatest Rogues Gallery, so tying the first one in with Loki is probably the best way to go. Absorbing Man in the second if there is one could work.

Updated cast for the Avengers anounced on stage at SDCC...

Finally, Downey welcomed director Joss Whedon onto the stage to the delight of the Hall H audience.

"I've had a dream all my life, and it was not this good," said Whedon. "This cast is more than I could ever dream of working with, and I am going to blow it. I am very nervous and I need your love and I need your support."

I'm disappointed by the lack of Nathan Fillion as Ant Man. Doesnt seem right to have an Avengers movie without Hank Pym, but otherwise it's looking pretty good.

Wait, wait, wait. There isn't going to be an Ant-Man? You mean one of the FOUNDING AVENGERS isn't going to be in the movie?! Captain America isn't even a founding member, but he made it (yes I understand he is iconic, but then why have the Hulk, since he was an Avenger for all of ONE ISSUE, and even that was just Loki making him go fucking insane and attacking everything). And Hawkeye makes it, but not Ant-Man!? UGH!

So, left to right we have Iron Man, Agent Coulson, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Nick Fury, Hawkeye and the Hulk. (and the director and producer).

Also, Joss Whedon has confirmed that there is no Ant-Man in his Avengers movie. To be honest, I'm quite disappointed by that if it turns out to be true. That said, I'd settle for Henry Pym maybe as a background character working for shield as a scientist. Just a little nod would be grand.

Edit** Is it just me or does Chris Evans look disturbingly like John Barrowman in that pic? :S

I still can't shake the feeling that without the star power of Ed Norton, it just feels like an extended Iron Man movie.

I mean Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth weren't exactly A-List leading men until these roles.

Still looking forward to it though, I just feel that the A-list ensemble side of it has become lost somewhat

Footage is below, I urge you to check it out

Just to let you know, they've updated the footage in this link and it includes quite a bit more.

Looks just as awesome, I am sad to hear they have yet to secure studio backing though

So, apparently Marvel were teasing the Infinity Gauntlet for Thor. Whether that's as a tie in to the Avengers or maybe even just as part of Odins armour they're being fairly coy.

Also. They had the Captain America shield out on display, which I have to say looks better than I expected.

Here's a description of the Thor footage shown at Comic Con.

    Quote Originally Posted by AICN
Clark Gregg’s Agent Coulson opens the film circling a man sitting in a chair in what looks like an interrogation room. “One way or another we find out what we want to know. We’re good at that. It’s not easy to do what you did. My men are the most highly trained in the world and you made them look like mall cops.”

We see shots of Hemsworth rumbling with the SHIELD agents. This is all Earth stuff with Thor fighting without a suit or hammer.

“Why don’t you tell me where you received that training. Afghanistan? You strike me more as a soldier of fortune type. Who are you?”

And that’s when we see Hemsworth’s face for the first time, giving Coulson a big fuck you stare.

From here on the footage moves to Asgard. Sweeping shots of golden streets as Anthony Hopkins’ Odin speaks over the footage.

“I have sacrificed much to achieve peace. You have opened these innocent realms to the horror and devastation of war. You are a vain and cruel boy.”

Hopkins really shouts down Hemsworth, who dishes it back at the old man. “And you are an old fool!” Hopkins responds with quiet sadness. “I was a fool… to think you were ready. In the name of my father and his father before… I cast you out!”

That last bit was played over the scene in the Great Hall, Thor on his knees in front of Odin, his winged helm is removed and then we see a flash and a deep rumble of thunder and Hemsworth is laying in a desert.

Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings are leaning over him as he wakes up. He looks around upon waking and says, “Oh, no… this is Earth, isn’t it?” Portman and Dennings trade a look.

Hemsworth changes shirts in a later scene and Dennings sneaks a peek and says to Portman: “You know for a crazy homeless person he’s pretty cut.”

Next shot had Hemsworth trying to explain where he came from to Portman. “Your ancestors called it magic, yet you call it science. I can prove they are one and the same. The answers you seek will be yours once I claim what’s mine.”

Mjolnir is in embedded in the ground, surrounded by tarps and caution tape. A muddy Hemsworth approaches as Hopkins voice over says “Whoever wields this hammer, be he worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.”

Hemsworth wraps his fingers around the handle and tries to pull with all his might, fails, screams to the heavens in frustration.

Then we leave Earth and return to Asgard as Odin lays dead (presumably) and Loki takes power as the successor to the throne. This, apparently, isn’t good news for the people of earth as they run around in a panic. More Odin voice over as Thor watches the devastation: “His fate is in his own hands now.”

Coulson and his SHIELD agents are in the desert as something crashes into the dust. The metal Destroyer stands and approaches the agents. “You are using unregistered weapons technology. Identify yourself.” One of the agents asks Coulson: “Is that one of Stark’s?” Coulson responds, “I don’t know. He never tells me anything.”

The Destroyer’s helmet opens and a bright beam of light boils there before shooting out and… well, destroying things.

There are lots of glimpses of the fully costumed Thor in battle, very quickly cut in the sizzle reel, but really badass swinging the hammer, deflecting blows with it against a stormy background.

Gotta say, I really dug the hell out of the footage. The scope is just as epic as I was hoping it’d be and Branagh seems to have found the right balance of fantasy and real world. Of course, the final product is yet to be seen, but the footage was pretty ass-kicking.
The Infinity Gauntlet in Alcohol's post looks fantastic. I wonder if Thanos could be the Big Bad for the Avengers film?

I'm not a Thor fan, really, but I like a good comicbook flick and I just want this thing to be quality and worth watching, so I can check it out, hopefully enjoy it, and be prepped for the Avengers flick.

I AM a Cap fan, on the other hand.

Yeah Vision could work well on film. I've always loved Hawkeye so I'm glad he's in over Antman. If they used the Eric O'Grady Antman I'd love it though. That guy rocks.

    Basically...
Although they are making an Ant-Man movie, so I suppose if it's a sleeper hit, Vision and Ultron could make it into an Ant-Man sequel, as both are a major part of Ant-Man's history. Or all three could make it into an Avengers sequel...

Or, if they wanted to be total bastards, they could simply put Tony Stark in Pym's role...

Well, to be fair Whedon only said there was no Ant Man in his movie, he didn't say no hank Pym...

Granted I'm not actually holding out much hope, but I'd settle for that.

I like what I can see there. Really like the darker, intense tone of it.

There were also shots from The Incredible Hulk in there, Bloof.

    I don't think it's real guys. Sorry.

But I'm sure Marvel doesn't own the rights to Private Ryan, Die Hard 4, Wolfman, Hellboy and the original Captain America movie

Oh, well, if it's fake, then it's still neat anyway.

I've been duped. Not sure why I fell for it so easily when watching a second time I could clearly see all the signs of a fake...guess I'll blame my inner fanboy.

Besides me of course. Probably because I'm not the best of anyone.

Well, I've ever watched a bunch of fake trailers for Cap, Avengers, and the like, so a lot of the footage in there should have been familiar, but really, upon first viewing, all that really made me cock an eyebrow was the Hulk shots and the Cap in current attire.

G4 ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE DEAL WITH SONY PICTURES TELEVISION FOR FOUR NEW ANIME SERIES BASED ON MARVEL CHARACTERS

Original Series “Iron Man,” “X-MEN,” “Wolverine” and “Blade” to Make U.S. TV Premiere on G4 in 2011

Los Angeles, CA, July 26, 2010 – G4 will be the exclusive U.S. television home of four brand-new anime series featuring some of the most successful and iconic brands from the Marvel Universe. Produced by Madhouse for Marvel Entertainment and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan (SPEJ), these four original series will feature iconic characters from “Iron Man,” “X-MEN,” “Wolverine” and “Blade” in an edgy new anime world. These series will premiere on the network in 2011, it was announced Friday at San Diego ’s International Comic-Con.

“We are excited to partner with Sony Pictures and Marvel to bring these incredible icons to G4,” said Neal Tiles , President, G4. “Marvel has shattered box offices around the world and captured the imagination of our G4 viewers. Combine that with the passionate following the world of anime brings with it, and we believe this project has incredible potential for the network”.

Jeph Loeb, Executive Vice President, Head of Television at Marvel Entertainment said, “Bringing Marvel and our characters to G4 is such an awesome opportunity. The size and scope of the animation from top-flight studios Madhouse and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan is nothing short of mind-blowing. We look forward to the start of a beautiful friendship and can’t wait to see the reaction from our worldwide fan-base.”

Each of the four new anime properties – “Iron Man,” “X-MEN,” “Wolverine” and “Blade” – will air as standalone series made up of twelve 30-minute episodes. Guided by multiple Eagle award winner Warren Ellis, the four shows will feature a matrix of interlinked storylines and shared guest characters that further enhance this intellectual roller coaster ride for G4 viewers.

Also, Sam Worthingtons in for a Dan Dare movie?

I'm dubious, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now. In all honesty, I'm kind of looking forward to seeing how they translate Dan Dare to the big screen. And he's australian, which counts as British when we allow it, so it's okay.

Still not too sure about Karl Urban as Judge Dredd though, although apprently it's locked into the contract this time that the helmet stays on.
