There was a rumor that they didn't figure any future seasons into the budget but now I'm hearing that it was mainly they ultimately weren't happy with the series. Which doesn't make any sense. How about you let the fans decide after more than 1 episode? Upside is at least they're not pulling the entire show from the service.

I'll be honest, the fact you can't get this on your PS4 bugs the hell out of me. I don't have a smart TV, I don't watch shows/movies on my phone either. I have a laptop but it doesn't work FUCK.

I saw a raved review from Mark Bernard about the pilot. So, I'm curious what they didn't like.

From what I'm gathering, which this is still odd to me. It wasn't so much the 1st episode as the entire series. Some people don't realize they're just not renewing it. The 1st season will air in it's entirety, after this it's done. Which makes sense. No offense to Swamp Thing as he has a special place in my heart as I watched that movie about 20 times on USA for 20 straight Saturdays it seemed (plus I think it was done by Wes Craven). But it's not a character that is some huge loss and will probably find his way to another show/movie.

Hollywood Reporter is saying that Taika Waititi is back to direct Thor 4. I expect this to be confirmed at a Comic-Con. I am seriously excited. Thor has always been my favourite character in the MCU, but Hemsworth has been on fire since Ragnarok. And maybe he’ll still feature in Guardians 3. More Thor I say.

Glad to hear it. Ragnarok was one of my favorite movies of 18, and definitely one of the most rewatchable marvel movies.

This isn't a film, but anyone else see the trailer for The Boys on Amazon Prime? Kinda looking forward to that one.

I can't remember if someone answered this already and i'm not finding a lot of info online but why have they not made a Prince Namor movie?

God forbid the first ever Marvel creation would get his own movie.

I'd like to see a Namor movie. Wondering if there's hesitation due to the Momoa Aquaman.

I certainly think Namor works, particularly with how different a character he is.

See, I thought about Aquaman in terms of the last couple years. But I remember a strong rumor about 10-15 years ago that The Rock was penciled in to play Namor. I don't know if it was going to be a stand alone or he was going to appear in like a Fantastic Four movie or a future Avengers movie.

I also read something where the idea is being pitched that he would possibly start out as a bad guy (which he bounced between being good and evil in the comics) but then either during, the end or the next film he'd be a good guy.

Isn’t part of the difficulty with Namor that it’s a bit murky about who has the rights to film him?

Forgot about that. I would assume he would have either been part of the Mutant package or FF package, which would be part of the Fox deal.

Wasn't he more involved with the Avengers characters? It's been a grip since I read anything with Namor involved.

I think you’re right that the issue was that he had an issue being potentially included as a mutant so Fox had him. But now it should all be a nothing argument unless they somehow claim he’s part of the Spider-Man world.

He was pretty tied up with Capt America for a while. The Fantastic Four/Sue Storm thing was a big deal when most of film rights were sold out during the Marvel financial problems period. He had a good run more recently where he was running with the Xmen. I read comics on marvel unlimited (which is awesome), so I'm always 6 months behind. As I'm reading right now, he's fighting the avengers.

    Namor gets around.

Ok cool my memory is coming back more and more as we discuss this. I remember the Sue Storm stuff obviously but I just wasn't sure if it went any deeper than that. I think he's also an Avenger, maybe West Coast Avenger ( my personal favorite version woop woop Wonder Man).

Marvel is unveiling phase 4 at comicon now. We'll see how much they reveal exactly but so far they've got Eternals movie confirmed with the whole cast on stage. Basically it's all the cast that was already rumored/known but here it is:

Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden. Kumail Nanjiani. Lauren Ridloff, Brian Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, Lia McHugh, Don Lee

Not exactly my favorite cast but certainly has promise.

Forgive the size and quality but here are the title cards of the movies announced so far. Nothing that we didn't already know except the full titles of the movies.

Fantastic Four was confirmed by Feige but not given a slot or a title card, I believe. Here's the full slate through 2021 including the Disney+ shows, with Blade (and FF) I guess coming in 2022 or later.

Lastly, in addition to Blade and Fantastic Four... Black Panther 2, Guardians 3, Captain Marvel 2 and Mutants were confirmed for future, as of yet undated films.

    Mutants is different than X-Men?

Edit: I guess he did mean or say X-Men. Not sure why I saw people referring to it as #Mutants.

feige apparently ended things by saying 'no time left to talk about mutants,' meaning no time left to talk about the xmen.

with that said, there's a new mutants film apparently coming next year that fox developed and made, but i doubt marvel would be including that as part of phase 4.

Jane Foster. I'm surprised they've even given away that she will become "Thor" this early instead of just announcing that she's in it and leaving it at that. It must be focal to the plot and they'll be pushing the female Thor angle in their promotion. Hemsworth is still in the movie, mind you.

How we feeling about the Eternals cast?

Yeah, a bit surprised Marvel didn't keep that secret as well. I'd guess they want to get the buzz on it going but I don't know. It'll be fun to see how it turns out.

I'm not super familiar on The Eternals so can't really say one way or another.

Jane becoming Thor follows the comics at least. Although to say in the comics that wasn’t a popular move might be underselling it.

For the Eternals I also know none of them. So this is really banking on the star power.

That Eternals shit looks like a promo shot for an early-90s sitcom.

I know Jane as Thor was not the most popular thing, but I thought the story arc in the comic was really well done. Jane as sort of an outlaw Thor could be super cool.

Regarding the Eternals cast, it doesn't seem like a very superhero-ey group but it's a solid cast IMO. I've never been a big Angelina fan but she has the chops to be the lead. Richard Madden (Robb Stark) and Brian Tyree Henry (of Atlanta), I'm a fan of them both. Kumail Nanjiani seems charming enough in a comic relief role. But yea, given that I know nothing about the Eternals as characters (truly never heard of them), I'm not sure what to make of this. I look forward to seeing the trailer next year.

I'm all about everything we have confirmed and what is being rumored.

People have to understand that right now, 10-12 year old me is thinking back to the days of collecting Marvel/DC trading cards and comics and wondering, will we ever see anything worth a damn from this genre? Now, shitttttt we're seeing so much stuff it's fucking amazing. And fuck all of you people past present and future who scoffed at us comic book nerds. Now every movie that makes millions/billions is either animated or a comic book inspired movie.

Suck my balls Kyle. Suck. My. Balls.

See, I confused myself thinking Eternals were the Celestials so when the rumor of a movie was announced I was like wow this is going to be weird as hell but I can't wait. Now refreshing my memory all these years later, and remembering the Celestials created the Eternals, I'm even more intrigued.

I wonder when this is going to be taking place. Will this be in the present or are we going back a million years and just doing some wild shit?

Because here's something that will no doubt tie this in: Thanos was an Eternal. At least in the comics.

Yeah the interest was there for sure. I remember some fans were definitely negative before they even read the comics until they realized there's like 900 "Thors" anyway. I would bet we had 2 negative camps: The ones who forgot about Beta Ray Bill and the ones who are part of the evergrowing outrage culture.

They probably tripped out about "black Ariel" or The Rock not being "black enough" to play John Henry.

Three new Disney Plus shows added to the lineup. Moon Knight, Ms Marvel, and She-Hulk.

Fuck yes Moon Knight baby. Ms. Marvel's a good series, nice to see it's getting a show. She-Hulk could also be really fun. And of course, hell yeah to BPII.

so from what I'm hearing Kit Harrington (Jon Snow) has not only been added to The Eternals as Dane Whitman (Black Knight) but is in fact the lead character.

They're saying WandaVision is going to lead into Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness...
I'm starting to wonder if they're going to adapt House of M, where Scarlet Witch has a breakdown and starts tearing reality apart to create an idyllic world for herself...

Thought a House of M adaptation has been rumored for a while now as a vehicle to bring the x-men into the mcu fold?

With a bit of a retcon coming that the mind stone didn't actually give her her powers but it actually unlocked them from her latent mutant x-gene.

Kristen Stewart is making my yahoo headlines this morning claiming she was apparently told by someone that if she kept her sexuality on the hush she "might land a Marvel movie".

I do like the comments section saying that no, Marvel already has enough actors who can't act lol. She's fucking terrible but I will admit I have literally only seen the Twilight shit and some movie called Adventureland with Bill Hader and Ryan Reynolds and in both movies everyone but Kristen Stewart did a pretty good job.

Just a weird headline honestly. Marvel is cool, but are they really about that shit when the best villain they've ever had (Magneto) was a super gay dude? Sir Ian, gay or not, greatest of all time.

I will say this, the article didn't specify Disney Marvel, Fox Marvel, Sony Marvel, etc. She just said "a Marvel movie". I guess the implication could be whoever she supposedly heard this from was meaning the MCU as opposed to Marvel in general. Either way....I have to imagine that the MCU doesn't give a shit about things like that especially when Tom Holland is on Lip Synch Battle in drag.

No, what you actually said, which doesn't make any sense, is that "X-Men wasn't Marvel at that point, they were still Fox"

X-Men has always been Marvel lol. So what does that have to do with anything I posted? If she's saying simply "A MARVEL MOVIE" not a Disney Marvel movie or a Fox Marvel movie, etc. but simply a MARVEL movie....Why would MARVEL care if you're gay, straight, pan, etc. when the best villain they've produced in film was the gayest dude in Hollywood?

X-Men was part of Fox while Ian McKellan was Magneto.

Just wanted to point that out, didn't think it had to be that complicated. I am not taking their side, I think she could be great in the right spot.

Though given casting I assume it might've been in Fan4stic just looking at stuff recently.

I think you're making this complicated lol.

I'm fully aware of what company had the rights to what film. Marvel isn't a Disney property you realize that right? Have you been living under a rock with the Spider Man situation lately?

So when you say something like "X-Men wasn't Marvel". Yes, I know what you were implying there, I'm just pointing out that she never said if it was a Disney/Fox/SOny Marvel movie, just simply a MARVEL movie. Not every Marvel movie is MCU. Like Venom for example, nobody is going to say "Venom wasn't Marvel until Disney snagged the rights".

You made that way too complicated to simply disagree with my comment about Sir Ian being the GOAT.

lol yo I'm just kidding around. I didn't even think of that when I said the subliminal message, I was moreso alluding to you saying that since X-Men weren't part of the Disney MCU that he wasn't the GOAT villain lol.

Spider Man is back in the MCU. The third Tom Holland Spidey film is scheduled for July 16, 2021, to be produced by Feige and Marvel Studios. In exchange for lending Feige’s producing prowess, Marvel and Disney will receive roughly 25% of the profits, according to insiders. Disney will retain its merchandising rights. As part of the arrangement, Spider-Man will also appear in one future Marvel Studios film. “I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said Feige in a statement. “Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”

Not a surprise. As I wrote, probably in the thread for the last movie, this just seemed like a public negotiation. There’s too much money to make so it was going to get figured out.

Christian Bale is playing the villain in Thor: Love and Thunder. No word yet on the character and whether it's a one-off villain or potentially a BIG BAD of the next few MCU phases.

I'm very surprised they're deciding to give it the DisneyPlus (albeit with Premier Access) run at the same time. I thought they'd at least try a month or two of theatre only.

Idk why people are mad online that they're charging extra for it on Disney+. Plus some people are mad that they delayed it again, while others are mad they aren't delaying it further so a movie of this importance can get a proper theater release. People on twitter suck, lol.

I'll surely see it in the cinema.

I think with the wait and build up, and the potential for this to be the first blockbuster after covid, people's expectations will be high and this movie will suffer from let-down syndrome. I mean it wasn't a particularly yearned-for MCU flick to begin with. I expect I'll enjoy it regardless but I could see the bar being too high.

Anyway this news doesn't mean all that much when they've delayed it several times already, but seemingly with the vaccine out, this one will stick.

Well whoever is mad obviously haven't paid attention to what they did with Mulan and Raya. Same scenario. Or when they had Trolls 2 on Prime or whatever the fuck it was on and it was $20.

I don't think expectations are going to be too high because like you said, it wasn't something people were clamoring for. Maybe 4-5 years ago but now it seems a little late now that she's dead. Plus covid fucked up the momentum. I think the bar will be the same as it was for movies like Dr Strange, Guardians, and Black Panther. We'll be shocked if it's phenomenal and understandable if it's not better than Winter Soldier or End Game.

I think it’s worth it as there’s no need to watch it in one go. It’s split into chapters so once you get to chapter 3 or 4, you could stop and pick up from there the next day. I don’t know if the offer is still available, but I did a 6 month deal with NOW which gets you Sky Cinema for 5.99 a month. Then you just cancel it at the end rather than letting it roll on.

I enjoyed it. I say that as someone who hated Batman vs Superman but was probably more disappointed by Justice League because it was such a mess. Cyborg is far more fleshed out. Flash isn’t half as annoying. Some of the more tedious humour is gone. The bad guy looks better and has more to do. The final battle is so much better it’s actually ridiculous to think of what Whedon did to it. The score is great, especially the Flash’s theme during a pivotal moment.

There’s more retained from Whedon’s version than people will expect. So the problems with those bits are still there. If you’re not a fan of Snyder’s take on these characters, then you won’t enjoy a four hour indulgence. Some of his decisions are weird and he still has a hang-up for needless violence. Like blood splatter when a guy is thrown against a wall. There’s a musical motif that occurs every time Wonder Woman goes into action, which starts as annoying but then becomes hilarious after a while. I wasn’t a big fan of the epilogue or the ending - it just doesn’t land because it’s not earned.

For me, it’s such an interesting project that it deserves a watch. I’d prefer to see a different interpretation of these characters. But there’s something fascinating about a guy getting a second chance to bring his vision to life. And how he’s been allowed to do whatever he wants and he doubled down on that allowance. It’s way way too long. For an extended cut, it could have been just shy of 3 hours and hung together much better. But you can watch it at your own pace and it’s not like there’s a cinema open right now. I say go for it.

Article about Jared Padalecki being the #1 pick to be the MCU's Gambit. I'm all for it, personally.

I'm a fan of Jared but I'd have to see his Cajun accent first.

I don't know about him being the #1 pick but sure, if it's cool. I'm extremely particular of the X-Men.

Sidebar... Kelsey Grammer as Beast was some of the best casting to come out of the X-Men movies.

Phenomenal. Captured the essence of the Fox cartoon as well imo. Probably what hurts many of their casting decisions for me is that I based most of it on "Is it as good or better than the 90's cartoon?" It's unfair haha. I do think that the casting of many of the original X-men movie characters were very good choices. Some of the later choices.....eh.
