    Man, that fight was nuts.

Pascal was dominating until Hopkins just started being a total dickhead taunting him and it clearly got in Pascal's head. Damn entertaining fight.

That guy who spent 8 hours screaming about how Pascal really, really seriously for serious got knocked down the world is ending holy shit can pretty much fuuck off though. I watched the rest on mute.

I dont think that Pascal was in control at any point in the fight. I'd say that it was even through four and then Hopkins took control.

Well Pascal was cleaning up the points well enough, but viewing the fight as a whole, i'm sure it was Hopkins' plan to tire him out and get in his head.

What do you mean cleaning up the points well enough? Most cards had it even or one to Hopkins through the first 4 rounds.

As much as I hate Hopkins and a fan of Pascal, he did derserve that. Pascal was quite bad and didn't know what to do, he had no Plan B.

One thing about Hopkins, he's been in some snorebore fights like the Jones rematch and some greatly entertaining fights like his dismantling of Trinidad. You never know what you'll get but one thing's for sure, he's has one of the best old school boxing skills. He does so many subtle things in the course of a fight very few people struggle figuring it out.

That was a great fight, we were quite up and from where we were sitting it looked like Degale got robbed but watching it back this morning it could have gone either way. The atmosphere was fantastic, great night.

£50. Which is far too much but I had free accommodation and got a cheap train so it worked out all right.

It's a lot isn't it? Fair play to Warren though, the place looked quite full. Selling 16,000 tickets for a domestic fight is good work.

Everyone planning on watching Froch/Johnson this weekend? I can't see it being anything other than a cracking fight. Should be a slightly earlier start than usual with it being in Atlantic City, around 2am UK time. Froch points win for me, although you rarely get an easy night against Johnson. Looking forward to seeing Kessler's return too.

It's great that Froch is being shown on Sky now. Long overdue.

Should be going over to Hamburg with 1PA to see Klitschko/Haye, although it looks like it'll be a last minute thing. Also looking into Khan/Judah in Vegas on July 23rd. Three nights staying at Mandalay Bay is surprisingly cheap.

Got it set on my planner mate.

Hopefully it's a goof fight, I think Froch will be to much for Johnson.

No. Showtime. It's free here anyway...

Expecting Froch to win but I do love Glen Johnson. Guy really never has a boring fight...

Yeah I have a soft spot for Johnson, I always catch his fights. Remember he gave Dawson a run for his money.

It defo wasn't a UD decision in the second fight to Dawson, if I remember I had Johnson down as winning.

Good fight between two tough bastards. I had Froch winning by about four or five. Dunno what that one judge was up to scoring it even - he managed to stitch up 1PA who backed a UD.

Always love watching Froch fight. Unfortunately I think Ward has the style to beat him. Hope I'm wrong.

I think that Ward has a style that would give him fits and ironically its a style that is similar but inferior to Calzaghe's style. I know that they've put their differences aside and I like Froch a lot more since he lost and gained some humility, but he's really lucky that he didnt get the fight against Calzaghe that he made such a noise about for so long. It might've been difficult to recover from receiving a shut out after all that fuss.

Ward definitely has the style to beat Froch, although Froch has really has become my favorite fighter in the weight class. His style is not unlike Muhammed Ali. Froch and Bute would match up beautifully.

He doesnt have the handspeed or workrate of Ali. Although he does have a great swagger and exceptional chin. He doesnt mind taking a few to give a few. I like how he gradually wore Johnson to the point where by the last minute of every round it was Glen on the back foot.

Froch struggles with slick fighters with fast hands who throw punches in bunches from angles. Ward is one of these fighters. Kessler is much less one of these fighters and his style effectively and competently defeated Froch no matter what the revisionist history says. I had it to Kessler by three rounds. I honestly think that a fight with Calzaghe would've gone very similar to Calzaghe's fight against Kessler with Froch finding some decent early shots and maybe equaling the fight through the first 4 rounds before Calzaghe adapted and shut Froch out to a wide majority decision. Maybe even more comfortably than against Kessler due to Kessler's incredible workrate and stamina.

Yeah? Nobody did in his entire career mate. Not your beloved Bernard Hopkins, not your American hero Jeff Lacy, not the GoaT Roy Jones Jnr and not the Danish King Mikkel Kessler. All those fights and nobody took out Calzaghe. He was faster, fitter, better and would've experienced all over the green Andre Ward.

Yeah, I'm quite sure Joe would have put Ward through the 'Jeff Lacy Experience.' Kessler looked good last night, felt sorry for the bloke he was fighting, it was pretty mch six rounds of Kessler teeing off on his head. He also has awesome entrance music.

Someone is actually trying to make it sound like Jeff Lacy was any good?? That's scary, I'll give ole Joe the Hopkins fight he wont that pretty easily.

Reality is that much like the Klitchkos...Joe C came through the division when it was terrible. No other way around it. A prime Roy Jones embarasses ole Joe. Not embarassment in that though RJJ was that good. I think even a prime Tarver probably handles Joe as well.

Joe was a solid fighter in a very watered down division when he came through it.

Prime Tarver, RJJ and Toney didnt not/would not sign to fight Joe, that simple.

As for Lacy, he was the big American hype train. He was a huge betting favourite.

It appears that Floyd saw something in Ortiz that he knew he could exploit. Victor becomes his latest cherry picked fighter.

"I am ready to return to the ring and give my fans a fantastic night of boxing by fighting the best out there and for me, that is Victor Ortiz," said Mayweather.

Who's he trying to kid? I like Ortiz, he had a great win against Berto last time out. But he's new to the weight and in the last two years he's been stopped by Maidana and drawn with Peterson. There's only one fight out there that is relevant for Floyd and everyone knows it, including him.

Kell Brook looked class tonight. And in a surprise to no-one, Macklin sees a decision go against him in Germany.

I had Macklin shading it by a couple of rounds, 115-113. Same as the one judge. For the other two judges to each give him only four rounds in the fight must be difficult for him to take. He deserved far more than that with his non-stop workrate. But like you say no-one should be surprised. Sturm had moments of real quality, mostly in the second half of the fight, but they were sporadic. I hear German TV had Macklin the winner by four rounds, Watt had it level. But then Jim Watt is an irritating cunt who had Valuev beating Haye. Seems like the vast majority of people think Macklin deserved the title and at least his reputation will have been enhanced despite the defeat. Another title shot shouldn't be too far away, but I'd advise him against going to Germany again.

Sounds like Alexander got a real hometown decision against Matthysse as well. Everywhere is bad for it, the UK included. It fucking stinks.

Kell Brook really impressed me yesterday. Looked totally composed through the entire fight, set everything up with a tremendous jab and threw quick powerful shots from good angles. Good to see him in with some decent opposition finally. I expect him to really make a move in the next twelve months.

Matthysse completely dominated Alexander. That decision was embarrassing.

Wouldn't be the first time Alexander had been gifted a decision (Kotelnik) or Matthysse had been screwed (Judah)

I'm still really annoyed by the Macklin decision. It was close, but looking at those scorecards he never even had a chance. I gave him six of the first seven rounds.

I have been conditioned to be against the Russians due to the Cold War and Rocky IV. I do think I would like to see Haye get absolutely punished though.

Nah, Haye is alright, he just plays the bad guy to try and drum up interest and sell some tickets. Klitschko is an absolute charisma vacuum, no one gives a shit about the boring bastard outside of Germany.

Aye, he's boring for the Heavyweight division, both of the brothers are. The sport needs Haye to win, its losing ground hugely on UFC and heavyweights are its marquee division.

But if Haye wins then retires straight away it'll be a bit shit. The Klitschko's will end up back on top and nothing will change.

It will. He'll have provided the blue-print of how to defeat the Manny Steward trained Klitschko brothers. He'll have given them something to think about and will have removed this aura of invincibility.

Everyone knows how to beat Wlad, it's just that no-one in recent years has had the ability to do it. They have not had all the qualities required as fighters. Those being 1) elusive enough to avoid the jab/right-hand, 2) quick enough to shift inside and cut the distance to launch their own attacks, and 3) the power to land a bomb on his chin and put him to sleep. No-one is beating Wlad on points, certainly not in Germany. It needs to be a KO. Luckily that's far from an impossible mission as Wlad will never be able to take a punch like his brother.

Personally I believe Haye has those qualities and will win the fight. But even if he does, the likes of Arreola, Adamek, Chagaev, Chambers etc won't be able to replicate it because they simply aren't good enough. The heavyweight division will improve when some young, exciting fighters start coming through, a Haye win doesn't do a lot in that regard, especially if he retires in October. The belts would be vacated and Wlad would win them straight back.

He seems pretty insistent on it. I wouldn't be surprised if he took time off and came back for the occasional fight if the money is right. He only fights twice a year as it is.

George Groves diary - Pt II:

Right it's less than a week now till the biggest fight in the heavyweight division since Lennox Lewis stopped Vitali Klitchko in Vegas eight years ago if memory serves me correctly...

So today is Sunday and Team Hayemaker disembarked for Hamburg. Davide and Tom (security) are the first to arrive. They made sure the German hired help were there, the hotels and cars were ready and kitchen is fully stocked with finest German sausage for the Dark Lord.

David Coldwell and Paddy Fitzgerald are next to arrive via an EasyJet flight I believe. Coldwell now the frequent world-title fight flyer after returning from Mexico with Ryan Rhodes the other week. I'm afraid his vast experience couldn't help him though and dear old EasyJet stung him for £40 for having two carry-on bags. I felt for Coldwell, he explained to me he just couldn't fit his lippy and tweezers all in one bag.

Davide was having his own problems. He decided to treat himself early this afternoon before the Hayemaker landed with a little bit of R&R and got himself in a right pickle. Pickle being the appropriate word as he walked into the sauna at the hotel to be greeted but a young couple, butt naked! Poor Davide obviously not German and not knowing the correct German unisex sauna protocol entered with his bathing shorts on. He must of felt like a right erm, sausage. In a blind panic he retreated hastily with his speedos still on. Anyone wondering where the Hayemaker after party is going to be though...

So I rock up at the gym in Vauxhall. Suitcase in tow, camera at the ready and have a little flick though the latest edition of the Hayemaker Magazine while I wait for our cab. Yvonne at this point is rushing round like Vanessa Feltz at a Greggs closing down sale. Once all the luggage and exercise equipment that will be commuting via van travel has been loaded up, we set sail.

Arriving at Farnborough airport me, Jon and Yvonne are shortly followed by Adam Nookie Bear Booth who emerges from a stretch Bentley at a private airport to board a private jet holding none other than a Morrison carrier bag containing his Morrison's chicken and cous-cous packed lunch! We keep it real people! No Waitrose or M&S chicken here.

We all got sniffed in case we were carrying vast amounts of cash or cocaine. Adam had a little (cash) but nothing to raise eyebrows we were told. Next through the door was the big man himself. David Haye and Ruben arrived and the plane was ready. We loaded up on some free goodies and took our seats.

Arriving in Hamburgm those of you planning to come out for the fight will be pleased to know it is a lovely city. Obviously spotlessly clean (Germany) friendly people, and lots of beautiful architecture. David Haye has a rest day today because of the flight and to recover from the monster session he did last night. The press conference is tomorrow and we are all buzzing over it. My job this week is to be a 'Brit abroad' ie as annoying and disruptive to the local population (Wlad's camp) as possible.

Any suggestions please let me know them. At tomorrows presser watch with intent. David Haye says and behaves in a particular way for a reason. It is always relevant to the fight. I can't wait till tomorrow.
    Anyone else going to this?

I'll be putting money on these from Skybet.

    Haye wins 1-6 (11/2)
    Haye wins 5-8 (5/1)
Haye knocked down and wins the fight (17/2)

...and because I don't trust the Germans

    Klitschko wins via DISQ (66/1)

Might also throw some over there as the odds should be better.

Also a treble for the next couple of weeks.

    Haye 1-12 (2/1) + Mitchell UD (9/1) + Chisora (8/13)

    £20 wins £970

    My official prediction:

Haye is fast and can bang, but Wlad is far too technically superior and far too big. I do think Haye has a punchers chance early in the fight, but Wlad will wear him down and KO him somewhere between rounds 8-10.

Freddy Roach apparently has picked Haye but he is literally a gimp.

I agree and disagree. I think that Wlad will win, possibly even earlier than that, but a Haye victory wouldnt be a surprise to me.

However, no way is Wlad a technically superior boxer. He throws predictable straight punches, very robotic European style. Jab, jab hook. Jab, jab hook. Sometimes mixes in an uppercunt, but not very often. He throws everything from the same heights, doesnt slip punches and doesnt throw from angles. All things that Haye does do. Wlad isnt a boxer like Lewis who works off the jab but throws incredible combinations, or great technical punches. However Wlad is the best in the world because he's good at sticking to a tactical game plan. This whole fight hinges on whether Haye can stop him from applying that game plan, or make him change his tactics. I'm guessing that Haye wont really be able to get beyond the jab, same as everyone else Wlad fights.

Agree with Red Dog. Really trying to like Haye and trying to believe his cuntishness is simply an attempt to promote the fight, but I just think he's a cocky, malevolent little bastard, Hope he gets knocked out.

Obviously the toe was an issue, but I'm not havin' it lost him the fight.

That jab is relentless and Haye fell into the same trap that everyone else does.

Haye brought out a personality in Wladimir that no-one thought he had, and he seems a truly decent, humble, and good sense of humoured, bloke.
The better tactician won in the end, and fair play to him.

Don't know what to say really. Didn't hang around to see the interview after but a broken toe would obviously have a major effect on Haye's movement. It'll get dismissed by most people but it's a shame the injury occurred as it will have seriously hampered his explosiveness.

Ultimately I thought Klitschko was the better boxer from the start though so I'm not too angry. Gutted for Haye as despite what most people think he is a decent bloke, he's just put himself in a position where he can't really come back from now. Klitschko is a smart man, he knew Haye was bringing in the money and he milked it.

Gutted for Haye, broken toe or not he was not getting in range to hurt Wlad. Hopefully Fury, Price and Chisora step up soon.

Haye has really done England proud.

Cocky all the way up to the fight, moaning to the ref like Ronaldo during it and then a ridiculous excuse after it.

    Klitchko has got class.

Haye is a more entertaining fighter though I will give him that.

Yeah, Haye knew he had to do something to get under the big fella's skin all the way through this, as the other fighter's have just usually been cannon fodder for the Klitschko's.

I like Haye. And I like the way he built up the fight and brought a side out of Klitschko that not a lot of people had seen before.

Haye did better than most, despite the broken toe. However, even without the broken toe, he did not go into the fight with the right tactics. Or if he did, he showed that he was not capable of implementing his fight over Wlads. He should be praised because he got hit much less from Wlad than most and he got a few good shots of his own in. In a way it kind of proved that many of the doubts about both his and Klit's chin wrong.

The build up to the fight was excellent.

Haye got exposed and had no fight plan and was hoping for a one shot KO... That's never a good idea. WK has nearly a 90% KO rating and he never goes in looking for a the KO. He has a plan and he sticks to it. Haye was ill-prepared and injury or not his tacticts were wrong.

I'm not sure that I really believe that his toe made that much of an impact. It certainly didn't prevent him from running from Wlad all night long.

Tons of disrespectful talk before the fight, a horrible fight plan, shit execution and then a bunch of excuses for losing soundly.

Haye shouldn't be given credit for anything. He whines about how boring Wlad is and then got in the ring and refused to exchange all night until the 11th round. This has really turned me off to Haye. He was clearly scared.

I really liked how the official began to count Haye's flops as knockdowns. Brilliant move.

So disappointing. Now I'm stuck in Bremen waiting for our car to be fixed. Lost uk blue and his phones dead and no charger.

Is Anthony crolla really gonna fight Morales? Surely not...
