    It's Always sunny in Philadelphia.

This has just started it's 3rd season on the FX network in the USA. I believe it was shown briefly on digital in the UK in the past on Bravo I believe and will be shown again soon on the new virgin 1 channel.

The show was made originally for under 100 dollars and the pilot got picked up. I read a review which described it as "Seinfeld on crack" which I think is a pretty fair assesement. It's alot like Seinfeld in the group dynamics, but it finds a nice balance between the slightly darker charachters and the farcical nature.

Danny Devito after seeing the first season asked to be in it and his charachter is a brilliant addition which really brings the series together.

Here is episode 1 if anybody fancies giving this show a try.

Was thinking about making a thread for this myself, but I am a lazy gimp.

But been a fan of this series since the first season. Just love the characters (especially Charlie and Frank) and the whole concept of the show. I usually come out of each episode laughing my ass off, just all around funny shit.

Glad to see I'm not the only fan of the series on here.

Agreed, my favorite show on tv right now. Season three has been a bit of a letdown in my opinion so far, but then again my expectations were really high going into it.

Still though, I loved the episode this season, where the guys try out for the Eagles and Charlie and Frank are tripping on acid. Green Man made that episode as well as the whole McPoyle clan.

This last week the North Korean episode was pretty great too.

Dennis, "Charlie, are you trying to unlock that door with your apartment key?"

Charlie, "Yea, I mean how many different lock combinations can there be like 4, 5."

This thread has been a long time coming

When they are held hostage, I was walking away to use the restroom, and Dennis said to the deaf/mute McPoyle "I want you inside of me".

I lost my shit. I fell on the floor in hysterics. For realsies.

Awesome, awesome show. They ran a marathon of it last year on FX and I caught the first episode and liked it so much that I ended up watching the entire marathon. It had me hooked from day 1 so to speak. So glad the new season is here. Can't wait for Thursday.

For the Brits, Virgin 1 is showing this every Monday at 11PM. Episodes three and four of Season One are on this Monday. I've missed the first two, as I only found out about this programme today. I'll have to torrent them.

Me and my mates were considering going as the Mcpoyles and green man to halloween but then thought that in Scotland..or perhaps anywhere in the world it would go over the heads of people.

I think this season is the best so far by a country mile. They have their formula down perfectley, I love the opening segment introducing the premise for the episode, it is always so concisely hillarious. Dennis has also really come into his own with his character, more weakness is beginning to come through and it's always classic like in the alunimum monster episode.

I think one of my favorite lines ever on the show.

    "... I won the bet!"
    "Congratulations... your grandfather's a Nazi."

I also can't get the damn Day Man song out of my head from this past week

"Sweet Dee is dating a Retard" was the best episode of season three so far.

    Day man, Day man
fighter of the nightman (ahhh, ahhh, ahhh)
    champion of the sun
master of karate and friendship for everyone
day man, day man (ahh, ahh, ahhh)

gotta say I loved that song too, just something bout it

Dennis is the man. The face of Hugh Grant with the mannerisms of Ben Stiller. Legend.

Also Charlie reminds me an awful lot of the sweaty guy in police academy that always talks/shouts with an incredibly weird, high pitched voice.

I've jumped straight into series 3 from season 2 cus the torrent for it's being really slow, maybe it's because of that but Danny Devito seems kind of out of place... maybe he'll grow on me.

Also I seem to have a worrying addiction to good comedy shows. The eps are currently downloading quicker than I can watch them, so it looks like I'll be up all night. This is like when I discovered scrubs and watched 4 full series in under a week when I should have been revising for my exams

So which is better? You be the judge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82tD-NxJHF0

    Night man,
    Sneaky and mean
    Spider inside my dreams
    I think I love you
You make me wanna cry, you make me wanna die
    I love you, I love you , I love you , I love you, I love you.
    Night Man
Every night you come into my room and pin me down with your strong arms
You pin me down down and I try to fight you
you come inside me and fill me up...

Just two men sharing the night
It might seem wrong but it's just right
It's just two men sharing each other
It's just two men like loving brothers
One on top, and one on bottom
One inside, and one is out
One is screaming he's so happy
The other's screaming a passionate shout
    It's the Night Man
The feeling so wrong it's right man
    the feeling so wrong...
I can't fight you man when you come inside me and pin me down your strong hands and I'll become the Night....the passionate, passionate Night Man.

    They took you Night Man
and you don't belong to them
They left me in a world of darkness
    without your sexy hands
and I miss you Night Man
    so bad.

    DAY MAN
    Day Man
    Fighter of the Night Man
    Champion of the Sun
    Master of Karate
    and friendship for everyone.

Nightman is obviously much funnier, but I find Dayman just so catchy.

I do like the big extended claps though, pretty hilarious.

I just finished watching the episode and fuck if Day Man isn't stuck in my head. I also love how they've been introducing the title card in this episode and Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire.

Season 3 has been great, so many great lines/scenes.

"Hey what's that a jar of?"

"If he tries to give me Aids one more time I'm gonna go berzerck."

And that whole scenario with Danny Devito setting Dee on fire twice had me pissing myself. The way he kept sneaking into the scene.

Dee- "That was pretty heroic huh?" "YOU THREW THE KITTENS"

Also when Dee and Dennis' mom dies and they're all giving the lawyer messages for her.

Just about everything Devito does is hilarious.

I remember when I first became a fan of this show, I heard comparisons to Seinfeld and I scoffed at them, mostly cuz Seinfeld is my favorite sitcom ever, but after watchin this show for sometime. I do agree that there are at least some parallels with the faux-paux situations and the way the characters are somewhat relateable to those on Seinfeld.

Obviously, both shows usually have one central theme in which each character seems to tackle in a different way and they seem to go their seperate way during the episode but it comes together at the end. This is a theme shared by both shows. As well as the fact that in the big picture none of the characters have many redeemable qualities, yet we can all relate to their assholeness fondly. Its just where Sunny/Seinfeld characters have no problem hiding their self centeredness, we in real life just think the terrible things they say and do.

Character wise, I have noticed a lot the past few seasons.

Charlie is like Kramer in that the most casual fan can find his weirdness and idiosyncracies hilarious (such as the dyslexic Charlie and mooching Kramer). They are both the most off the wall characters that we all love just for their uniqueness. These guys are the great oddball characters that make a good show great basically. While I love this show now for the whole cast, Charlie, like Kramer, is what got me hooked in the first place if you know what I mean.

Dee is certainly like Elaine in that she is a man's woman with only male close friends. She is a bit of a drunk and certainly a slut. In spite of this she has the balls the stand up the rest of the guys and not just be the loser of the group. At the same time, Dee and Elaine are both deceivingly hot, in that you dont see them and think wow, but when you think about it you would not hesitate to hit that. Both strong characters that may often be the butt of jokes, but do not have any reseverations about giving the others shit too.

Mac is the George Costanza of the group. Of all the despicable characters in the show they are both the most self centered and for lack of a better word, are the Assholes of the group. Like the Seinfeld/Costanza dynamic Dennis/Mac are always competing and like in Seinfeld with George, Mac is always the beta dog to Dennis with women, success, and general luck.

Dennis is the Jerry Seinfeld of the crew. He sees himself as the alpha dog and leader of the group. Sees himself as probably above the others and the most normal of the group, when in reality he is as much of freak as the rest. Like Seinfeld, I have found Dennis to be the character that I at first enjoyed least, but have enjoyed more and more as I have gotten into this show. He is usually the straight man to the rest of the pack(though not as much as Seinfeld), but really he is what brings the show a bit of reality to the group dynamic. The pompous, cockyness of Dennis/Jerry is just great.

I will be honest I am quite drunk while writing this, but I am curious if any other of you guys agree with my thoughts on the Seinfeld/Sunny comparison.

A pretty good season finale, imo, not great but good.

    Best episode of the season

"Sweet Dee dates a retarded person"

    Other great episodes

    "The Gang gets Invincible"
    "Mac is a Serial Killer"
    "The Gang gets Whacked"
    "The Gang Sells Out"
    "The Gang gets held Hostage"
"The Gang Solves the North Korea Situation"

Most of the other episodes were solid.

    The only real letdown was

Dennis Looks like a sex offender", wasnt that funny especially considering the when seeing the title of the episode.

I really hope that that dont do that two new epidsodes for the first few weeks again next season. It would just be nicer if they had one episode and then a rerun of an old episode after each new week, considering that it is the only time they show Sunny reruns. Also, it would make the season like another month and a half longer.

I'm a bit bummed with my two favorite shows Sunny and South Park done in the same week.

Watched the first episode after my cousin recommended it. I like it a lot, the Seinfeld parallels are spot-on.

Just picked up the Season 1 & 2 DVDs. I have every episode downloaded already but I just like having legit copies of stuff I enjoy, plus I was hoping for the bonus features.

The bloopers were a bit of a letdown, not much to them, only a minute or so. Some of the behind the scenes stuff was decent. The original filming (pilot versions) of the Charlie Has Cancer intro and the scene where Mac meets the tranny were interesting just to see what a difference production value makes, otherwise it's basically the exact same scenes and jokes.

Surprisingly enough what I enjoyed most was the commentary. I used to think my favourite line ever was "THIS ISN'T OVER UNTIL I SAY IT'S OVER!" by Charlie in Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom, but now I think I love his improvised "What aaare you?" when he picks up the calculator in the same episode.

I think Charlie is one of my favourite characters on any television show. The basketball game when he's the ref is one of the funniest scenes I have ever seen. Also the Hundred Dollar Baby episode

"I'LL PUNCH A HOLE IN YOUR FACE!"
    "I'D LIKE...TO SEE...YOU TRY."

There's just SO many things I love about this show. I ranted and raved about it to a friend. Normally when I brag a show up (or anything for that matter) beforehand, he'll refuse to watch it and, if he does, even then refuse to admit enjoying it out of spite. It was like that with Entourage but he came around, so I held that over him to get him to give Sunny a chance. Before the intro to the first episode was done, he was sold. My sis is hooked too.

Subtle things. The acting is so natural and superb. Little exchanges, slight expressions, the bickering. I just love it. Even stuff that repeats itself like Charlies "ehhh, well, uhhh, see..." or "what? hmm, no, what did... you... what YOU think I said?" have become a part of my regular vocabulary. I love this show so much.

I really do think I love Dennis the most. He's just so god damn vain. My friends have even taking to nicknaming my sis and I Sweet Dee and Dennis.

    Bump

Season 4 starts September 18. The promos for the new season look promising. I like the going back to Philly song.

I was worried the writers strike was gonna make this show get lost in the shuffle and cancelled, but apparently, they now have ordered episodes for season 4 and 5. I own the season 1/2 dvd, but season three isnt out yet. I wish FX would get with the program and show some reruns (especially since most of season three I have only seen on tv once). I mean how many That 70s Show reruns need to be on FX in one day. I swear to god that show is on at least 6-8 times per day. They should be able to find a place to throw in some reruns of Sunny.

    New Sunny...

The black and white dancing promo gets me pumped! I think it's just a variation of the "Going back to Philly" version, but it has the Green Man!

I am so stoked it's coming back soon, I think I'm gonna have to pop the shirt...

I loved this show until Danny DeVito joined the cast... The formula of "the gang gets a wacky scheme, but they can't stop bickering, and then everything falls apart" was great. Then it seemed like they were coming up with excuses to try and involve his boring, unconvincing character in everything. I've only caught a couple since I wrote this one off, but it's been kind of hit-or-miss. The "Charlie Got Molested" episode was great, but the one where they try out for the Eagles was kind of crappy.

www.FanCast.com has all the episodes, so I might give it another shot.

Ugh. I'm so far back on TV viewing now it's insane.

Awww, didn't catch episode 2 when I searched the torrents earlier... she's downloading now though.

Episode 1 was fabulous. More of the same, which might not be so good for other shows, but is perfect for this.

    "We've got the hunger!"

God, I love this show. Forgot to set my DVR, but luckily I turned it on at the end and could do the newfangled "Start Over" option. Loved it. The constant pairing off of characters always gets me. There aren't any two that are always together, they swap em around each time.

Poor dude who's car got smashed, crashed, burned and his apartment blown up. That guy had a rough day...

Just fit in an episode before bed. Didn't miss a beat. Still the funniest 30 minutes on TV. Which really says a lot with the Office and South Park still airing new episodes.

The set up with the Muslim dude and Bruce and the Mac with the towel... as soon as he got burned and they were taping him, I knew where it was going, but the eventual pay off was still hilarious.

While I'm a bit surprised that Dennis had such a neat and orderly sex tape collection, I'm not surprised at all by the angle. As vain as he is, he would just want to see his balls and ass.

The first episode was good with Green Man reminding me of that SNL short Andy Samberg did where he just punched people randomly, but the second was just class.

Another set of back-to-back, great episodes... supposedly we're only getting 13 this season which means 9 left, though.

Episode 3 was decent but 4 killed it... Dennis is so fucking creepy, I love it! Too much of this episode reminded me of my own 2 buddies. I can't wait to show them.

When I heard about the Dennis sex tapes, the first thing I thought of was sort of like what Patrick Bateman did in American Psycho.

I could see Dennis positioning the camera toward him and just starring into it while going to town downstairs.

The 4th episode was brilliant. The third was good, but airing it before the 4th was a good idea because if it had gone after, it would have seemed poor after its partner.

The bits with Dennis hanging from the door frame KILLED me. Especially his expression when he says "He's lying." It's the little things this show does that are awesome.

"Charlie and Mac are dead" was amazing! On so many, so, so many, levels!

I had it recorded, and I think I watched Mac push Dee's face and snatch her keys 10 times. I lost my shit!

Mac and the wedding dress. The grenade in the car. "I need a popper". Glory hole. I don't know how they manage to fit so much awesomeness into one hour. Brilliance!

It is good. I saw my first preview 2 weeks ago and decided to check it out. I have since watched every episode of all 4 seasons and it's like the American version of Trailer Park Boys.

The wedding dress stuff was just awesome...

All in all, an excellent hour of television. Probably the best hour of TV I watched last week...but that isn't out of the ordinary for this show.

That was a strange, yet still amazing episode. That chick at the end was a bit long winded, but the pay off was worth it.

"It was me. I did it."

    "Why??"

    "Because poop is funny."

And Dee diving into the car door was physical comedy gold!

The beginning of the episode until about half way through was fucking tremendous. It definitely started to drag once Artemius got involved though. They should really just kill off her character.

Dee trying to turn her life in to Sex and the City is fucking brilliant. I know so many females who would be more thrilled with their lives ending up like those yentas than any geek guy would be becoming Batman.

I feel the same way. I loved the episode until she started getting more involved.

I just don't see the need for the character...

Normally, Sunny is the best hour or half hour of TV I watch all week, but I don't feel like it was this week. There were some particularly good Home Movies episodes this week, and the Sunny episode was a bit of a let down toward the end.

It was still great though. And this is the only time I can ever remember thinking that an episode could have been better...which is incredible.

I didn't really get much from the "poop" storyline, a little too slapstick for me. But Dee trying to live the "Sex and the City" life was funny, especially diving into the side of the car.

On one hand I'm really happy they proved the show can go fine without Frank, on the other I really missed him from the new episode. I think I nearly I cried laughing when Charlie hit the guy in the head with the beer bottle. And then probably did when he went back for the hammer in the last shot.

I felt like this was a really good episode to get me back into it 100% after being let down with the end of last weeks episode.

It had a vintage Sunny feel to it, and that's not a good thing...it's a great thing.

Agreed. Definitely had more of a first season vibe but with added maturity to it.

This weeks episode was pretty good for the most part. I do believe this is the first time I have actually watched Rob Thomas and not switched the channel

The sequence between Charlie and Dee in Charlie's apartment was insanely funny. So funny it literally peaked the episode out about half way for me. Still a good episode overall, but putting what has to be one of the funnier scenes this year in the middle point of the show probably wasn't the best idea.

I can't wait for the episode entitled "Nightman : The Musical"

The episode was the same for me.

Incredibly funny during the middle, and it slowed down toward the end. But it was still really good, and I can't wait for next week.

    Yeah, that great stuff.

I think Thursday has surpassed Sunday as my second favorite day of the week...although if the Seahawks can turn it around, that will change.

With a My Name is Earl appetizer, follow by The Office and Sunny as the steak and lobster, and Impact (which is always good for a few laughs) for desert...it makes for a great night of TV.

I love the random use of music in this show... Rick Astley in the 1st and 3rd season, singing Extreme and Boys II Men acapella at the bar, Mac and Charlie doing the Law & Order theme and "Day Bow Bow" and all of Dennis' (not-so-)guilty pleasures.

    Bring me a higher love!

    1776 = Greatness!

Great episode, even more so with the last few weeks being a little lackluster. I rewound and watched the head shot in slow motion three times...

That's probably my favorite episode this season. There hasn't been a bad one, just a couple lackluster ones. That was brilliant. When they went back in time I was sitting in bed this morning groaning to myself. About three minutes in I was dying. Classic stuff.

I agree that this was the best episode of the season so far.

I'll have to give it a re-watching tonight.

    FUCK YES!

Got to be honest here - I didn't think I would like last nights episode after reading a news article about it a couple weeks ago. Figured it would be to far out of their element to make it funny but I was surprised to say the least. Just thinking back on it and realizing it was the three of them, in reality, sitting in that woman's office telling what had to be the most outright lie in the world was funny in itself. Honestly, I wish they would have filmed an alternate episode of them physically telling the story to the lady and making it an extra feature on the dvd.

The three of them about to fuck up George Washington's painting in the office was fantastic as well.

I will have to admit this, but I gave this show a try in its first season, and turned it off after about 10 minutes. It didn't appeal to me at all.

After they landed Danny Devito, I thought about giving it another try, but never really did.

However, one afternoon, with nothing else to do or watch, I watched this season premiere on On Demand, and I've been hooked ever since. It's over the top funny, but I find myself laughing in each episode.

It's so unique. I know there is a comparison to Seinfeld, in that the characters really have no redeeming qualities and cause most of their problems through their own horrible decisions, but it takes that ground work and jacks it up past 11 on the crazy scale. There really isn't anything else like it out there, especially in the current vein of drama/thriller shows that are all the rage now.

Anyone go on their MySpace page and watch the panel the guys did a few months back? It's pretty interesting to see them talk like normal people, and not insane charicatures. Worth a few minutes to check out.

I think the Seinfeld comparison is perfect. You just have to add on that it's like Seinfeld, with an R rating and 100% hateful and with situations you'll never encounter in your day to day life.

Some comic convention they were at. Pretty nifty. And Dee is really the Aluminum Monster!

Turns out it isn't this week. This weeks ep deals with the gang doing an extreme makeover of a house.

Bah! Oh well, I was misinformed. Still, pretty good episode. When they storm the house, decked out in all black and blasting death metal, I almost shit myself. That was classic!

That was a crap episode, I barely laughed at all. It's probably because I have such high expectations but I wasn't impressed at all.

I think I might watch Mac Bangs Dennis' Mom to make up for it.

Just watched it about 30 minutes ago.

The whole time in the shower, getting dressed and now sitting here about to go to work I've been singing Dayman to myself, over and over.

A great episode. Only on ths show would they add a rape scene.

I think I might buy Season 2 on Black Friday.

There is no rape. The Nightman just comes inside of you while you fight him.

I'd pay like $20 to get Dayman as my ringtone.
