There was more detail in the papers today:
Their going to have the "village effect" like at Stamford Bridge - there's going to be hotels, restaraunts and apartments around the stadium. There is talk about trying to incorporate the old casino idea , which we didn't get last time, into it. A casino like the one built in Manchester would be built at the stadium.
It will have a retractable roof and removable floating pitch with next generation undersoil heating. The stands in which the fans sit will all be indivdually heated and a lot of emphasis is to be placed on fan comfort. Matches will NEVER be called off.
Ibrox will be able to play host to four times as many concerts as it does now and at a much higher level seeing as the pitch can be removed. It will become a six star stadium
The whole idea is set to earn Rangers multi-millions more each season. The old red brick facade will remain in place.
Looks like Rangers are really pushing the boat out if all this goes ahead. Well done to them, I suppose.
The Old Firm game has been scheduled for Wednesday 23rd of January, incase anyone doesn't know. Wednesday night.
Although if either Rangers or Celtic have to play a replay against East Stirling or Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup then that match will take priority.
Well they didn't.
On another note, next week (weather permitting) I'll be seeing Blairgowrie Juniors play former league team Clydebank. Should be a cracker.
RANGERS ARE YOU WATCHING???
Watching what?
FFS, Rangers match postponed due to weather meaning the OLD FIRM is off next WEDS. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH.
Oh come on mate. It was the right thing to do.
It was obviously a tradegy and I don't want anyone to think that I am denying that. But I don't see the point in calling the game off. A minutes silence would have been fine.
Plus, Celtic was asked on Saturday night if the game should go ahead and they said yes. Then they realise that the likes of McManus were struggling to be fit, so they ask for the game to be called off.
It was daft how the Old Firm game got called off, yet Dundee United who were close to the tragedy were forced to play.
Typical Old Firm double standards there.
Also lets take a minute here to inhale, it's at Parkhead the last time I checked the Tims where hardly shite at there own gaff.
If they were gonna call matches off, they should've called off the whole card.
I'm sorry but I don't talk to rodents.
Fuck me, why can't Celtic lose games they're supposed too.
Lucky bastards and please, no more conspiracy shouts, as you've basically used up your penalty lifes for the season.
When are Celtic playing this weekend?
Scotty Mac needs to come home and score some goals against some Qatarians or whatever they are called.
Saturday, away to Kilmarnock.
Strachan's been given a 4 match ban for that argument last year at Pittodrie![]()
Looks like Brechin might be getting thrown out of the cup. It's a bloody complicated situation, probably easier to do a timeline:
SFA making a dog's dinner of things again. Massive fuck up by us in any case.22 September 07 - Brechin sign Willie Dyer from St Johnstone on loan.
15th December - Dyer returns to St Johnstone.
12th January - Hamilton 0-0 Brechin
18th January - Brechin sign Michael Paton, Willie Dyer re-joins on a permanent basis.
22nd January - Brechin P-P Hamilton.
28th January - Brechin 2-1 Hamilton. Hamilton lodge protest regarding eligibility of Michael Paton after the game.
30th January - Brechin ordered to replay the match on Saturday, also fined £10,000. Later on it emerges that Willie Dyer was also ineligible. SFA schedule second 'emergency' meeting for tomorrow.
I think we'll be fined £20k instead of £10k, and have to play the game again. We'll then appeal, and have the fine reduced to the original £10k.
Where was the game in the next round against Aberdeen to be played? Glebe Park or Pittodrie?
Pittodrie.
Shame. That'd have been a good trip for you lot.
Anyway, this thread is fucking bollocks these days. Can't we come up with something, some sort of wee result-prediction competition or something?
It looks like it's going to be a good run-in this year, possibly to the very end again, yet this thread is nowhere near as active or interesting as it used to be.
I think Rangers are going to win the league by a decent distance.
Scottish football, Brechin aside, doesn't really interest me much anymore. it's all about the premiership.
I genuinely do believe we'll take it this year. I was more confident, however, before Celtic made those signings yesterday.
They have pretty good depth to their squad, however weak the quality may be, which could be pivotal in where the title ends up.
You obviously missed the rumours about Christian Daily who will add infinite depth to the Rangers squad. Think ambition, think Glasgow Rangers.
The game tonight was a bit silly, I believe it was referee'd by a scarecrow. Rangers were their usual methodical slightly boring self , while Hearts were awful.
Whittaker certainly doesn't look like a 7 million drop off from Hutton.
I'd really like to see us signing Luke Moore rather than the Lafferty rumours, if Cousin leaves we need another striker as our surplus of striker belief is a mirage. I don't think Smith would or should ever be happy starting Boyd or Novo up front, Darcheville is still a bit unfit to be relied upon implicitly, Naismith is better at the moment in the 4-3-3, McCulloch playing upfront is about as inspiring as a big steamy poo and I think Smith thinks Alan Gow is a really keen ball boy. Luke Moore would provide us with another option aswell as being ambitious for the future. Bet Smith bids for Darren Jackson.
I wouldn't say Hearts were awful. Up until the second goal they weren't too bad - then they faded away.
I'm a Boyd fan so I'd be more than happy with him up front. As Nevin said today at half time - this game was made for Kris Boyd. If Boyd were to get his starting spot back, I'm not sure yet as how to partner him. Darcheville looks the part but I don't know how he and Boyd would go together - it might work well with Darcheville's pace and directness but until, or if, they get the chance to play together we'll never know.
Boyd and Naismith has worked before so that's always a shout.
The Hearts fans and Pat Nevin's reaction at half-time were priceless. He looked as if he was about to go mental.
Dunno what the ref was on to miss Ferguson's hand ball. In fact, Charlie Adam probably gave him some smack out of his personal stash.

Unlucky Melv.![]()
Fucking joke, that's what it is.
ahahahahahahahahahahhaa
ahahaahahaaha
ahahahhahahahahaaaaha
I was looking forward to the banter at the fence so much...
Davis will do fucking well for Rangers, mark my words. Friday has a new hero.
Shouldnt have gone to scotland. He's a premiership player and a fucking good one. He can play within himself up there and will get into the drinking culture. If you fuckers ruin him there will be trouble
I think Barry Ferguson taking the ball off him constantly will groom him into being the player he could be. I hope he left any nugget of creativity at the door before he signed.
he wont take his shit. He doesnt take shit from any of the guys in the northern ireland team.
He's a brilliant player as shown by how bloody comfortable he is on the ball when playing against the likes of spain.
He'll fit in with the rest of the unwashed contingent.
Anyone read the the sun today with the bit about what schools all the footballers came from? St Andrew's Academy, my school, was in it. It was a footballing hotbed that nurtured the talent of the likes of Steve Clarke, Roy Aitken...and Jim Delahunt.

Jesus Christ we were brilliant today.
Quality. I know it was only Kilmarnock but Samaras just looks like he's going to be a star, if a bit rusty. Hopefully him coming in will give Vennegoor a kick up the arse.
Last edited by wardy; February 2nd, 2008 at 2:26 PM.
I see Samaras scored, don't know about him being a star yet though.
He isn't.
He will be.
Based on what?
His boots.
Though that was a penalty for a sec.
Any idea if Samaras will be in the first team regularly?
Jim Delacunt more like.
He will get a few games up here and looks likely to start on Sunday. McDonald is over in Australia for a world cup qualifier and has picked up an injury so I don't think he will be risked at the weekend (think he was due to arrive back from Australia on Friday morning, so would have likely have only made the bench anyway). Also Skippy is only one yellow card away from a booking and Vennegoor of Hesselink will probably pick up an injury or two before the end of the season.
He looked good in his debut and scored a good goal so hopefully he can keep it up and we will buy him outright in the summer. Our bench now looks a lot stronger than when it had Killen sitting there.
I think everybody is one yellow card away from a booking mate.
Vennegoor is a dud, I dont know how anyone can rate him. If Samaras shows any sort of consistency he should be started with McDonald everytime.
Vennegoor started well with Celtic but he doesn't look interested anymore. Blatantly wants away to England or someplace else.
Since when did Scotty McDonald get so fat?
He is looking like Viduka.
Even though he's the fucker I hate most for Celtic, Aidan McGeady would be my POTY. Hutton might have had a shout but a) He's a RB and really how much love do fullbacks really deserve and b) He's fucked off anyways. Cuellar and Ferguson have also been impressive this year. However the wee turncoat in just about every game I've watched this season he's been damn impressive. Fuck me why the fuck does he wan't to play a for a bunch of potato munching, inbred, backwards drunks I will never understand. He could have played for us and still gotten drunk and eat haggis, that must be it, he doesn't like haggis...but every Scotsman does it.
Peter Martin said (and I don't know if it was in jest) that should Neil Lennon hang up the boots this year he was going to join the Clyde Sports team. That would be glorious, because you just know how much it would rile all us huns up and he wouldn't hold back like some of the other dull fuckers do. Plus I actually do think he's an honest guy.

We were brilliant again today. Things are looking up.
You'll be looking up at the sky permantly any more of your cheek, son.
McGeady has been brilliant, the assist for McDonald's second was wonderful. He had shown signs of it in the past couple of years but has been consistently brilliant this year and has added goals to his game as well. Credit to the player, he has gotten his head down and worked hard at it, he always puts the effort in during training and is a regular in the gym after the morning sessions working on his fitness and build. Got to agree with you about the Ireland thing, McGeady in the Scotland squad would be great.
McGeady, Maloney, Brown, Gordon, Hutton, McFadden - His name would just add an extra dimension to an already good young squad.
Miller is practically begging rangers to come back in for him
Walter has too much sense for that or at least I hope he does. Nothing about playing for Celtic here, just, you know, he's shite.
Aye. Hopefuly McCleish keeps birmingham up and pays up 3.5m for him
Kinda hope he's saving the 3.5 for Papac.
Steven Pearson and Kenny Miller for 7.5m. DONE.
Why the Kenny Miller hate? He's better than anything else Derby have.
Torres. Torres. Torres
OI OI OI !!!!
Give me him you hun bastard.
No No No
Agreed about McGeady being Player of the Season so far. The papers were creaming themselves over him today. Apparently he was unstoppable and literally unplayable.
We were brilliant yesterday. McGeady is going to win us the league.
Where did he play yesterday? In the cetre of the park or out wide?
On the left with Naka on the right, though when he scored his goal in the first half the two players had swapped for a short time.
Bunch of bandwagon jumpers.
If I said Melv was a great poster would you all jump on that wagon too?
Disnae matter anywhos because in two years time out of the ashes, out of the duldrums, out of actually being exciting at football there will come a man, a man simply named John Fleck and that my friends will signal the revolution.

melv IS a great poster.
Alright calm down mate, I think youve had a bit much to drink.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah fuck off slarebear
ahsgahgsahgsahsgahsgah
I don't hate him at all but if he's asking for this move so much then I want him to go. No point in him being here next year if he doesn't want to be. He has been really good for us but personally I would prefer villa and earnshaw going forward as a partnership for next year. I wish Miller nothing but good times as he's mwon us at least half our points like. Nice guy, good player but if he's anchoring for a move then he can happily go.
How did super stevie d do? Is he likely to play tommorow to destroy the greeks?
Ohh ok. That might explain why he only got 45 minutes against bulgaria despite being the best player on that pitch, including petrov and berbatov who couldn't be arsed. I love him. Tidiest player i've ever seen. Very rarely gives the ball away and I swear he won more headers and tackles than johnson and clingan combined in just 45 minutes.
I have to say the person who told me this was pished at the time and well he's usually wrong. Anyways he said Rangers where going to make a bid for Healy in the summer. Interesting one, boy definitely has skills but is he a players who needs the system to work for him because he's not good enough to fit into a particular system. I think he would do well but I think you would be looking at 5 million plus...so bit of a pipe dream really. What do you orrible misarable maggots think?
No thanks.
Healy would be good for Rangers, not at £5m though.
He cost them what 1.5m and is out of favour. He will go for about the same. I heard you made a big in jan and it was accepted but didnt get finished up. I hope he goes to france instead. He had about 6 offers from there last summer.
Davis is rumoured to be starting tonight. That shows you what I know.
What report was that? Who is he meant to be in place of?
Formation I read was 4-4-2 with
Mgregor
Broadfoot Cuellar Weir Papac
Burke Hemdani Ferguson McCulloch
Naismith Boyd.
I can't see either of those front men up on their own but have a huge fear they wiill put Lee McCulloch up on his own, Naismith on the wing and Davis in midfield.
I've bet on rangers winning so sorry guys you'll probably lose.
The team for tonight is meant to be:
McGregor
Broadfoot Cuelleur Weir Papac
Novo Ferguson Hemdani Davis Adam
McCullouch
