    Aberdeen vs Rangers
    Dundee Utd vs Hearts

    Or is it?

Seems they've made an arse of the draw by reading out the wrong names for each number and it's actually:

    Aberdeen vs Dundee Utd
    Hearts vs Rangers

    What an absolute shambles.

    Confirmed

Eddie Thompson is just being a cock about it though:

But Dundee United chairman Eddie Thompson is furious with the mistake.

Thompson told BBC Sport: "It's a total farce. I've spent four hours on the phone with Hearts arranging when the game would be played, where the game would be played and so on.
Four hours trying to organise a date/venue? He must speak slow as fuck.

Yeah, considering there's only two nights it can be played and all four clubs would have to agree.

I think Aberdeen/Utd will be at Easter Road so that won't be too bad, although I'd rather play it at Tynecastle.

The current holders of the Challenge Cup that has absolutely zero meaning but it's our first-ever national trophy so we love it anyway i.e St Johnstone.

Nice win on Saturday, McGeady continuing his great form. A good outlook heading into the game on Wednesday though Shaktar are a good team. Think both Rangers and Celtic could do well this week, though if Aberdeen play like they did on Saturday then they have no chance on Thursday!

Celtic were VERY fortunate there. Outplayed for the majority and a rough game with a ton of injuries.

Wonder why the hell they showed this on Sky One?

Milan away will be a tough prospect though, especially considering Celtic have the worst European away record in the history of......ever.

    Better hope Shakhtar slip up.

Was at the game tonight. We were made to look very average at points.

Ive been a season ticket holder for over ten years, and that is honestly the loudest sustained roar ive ever heard when the fulltime whistle went.

They were fucking shit in the second half. If Brown, McDonald and Vennegoor had performed for the whole game wed've coasted it. No idea how Jarosik missed that header. What a spastic.

Great finish for the first though. I thought Jarosik looked like a decent player when he was at Birmingham, but I have no idea how he's doing at Celtic.

I think Shakhtar will still get through, unfortunatly. Hope I'm wrong.

Jarosik's been in and out of the team, and for the time that he was in last season he played like a wanker. Although, he did score a couple of goals, one against Copenhagen away I think.

He just seemed to appear out of nowhere this season and is starting to hit a decent run of form.

Great to see both sides of Glasgow with real good chances of qualifying for the next round, Think the mighty Gers should do it against Lyon, Celtic have got the tougher task, having to draw in Milan but Milan only need a draw themselves to win the group so I reckon you Bhoys have a good chance too!

How far can Rangers and Celtic both go?

I really think Scottish football is on the up!

On the Scotland manager front, I reckon Gary McAllister would be the best choice, great motivator, could do well for you. I know it will never happen but id love it if you got McClaren!!! haha,

    I hope Souness gets it.

Yeah Souness is shit, as an Ipswich man Id have to recommend George Burley, Great manager hasnt had all the luck as of late with the saints but done well with both us and derby.

As for Craig Lavein I dont know about him, He didnt do too well at Leicester,

Billy Davies is a great manager,

Why is there so many more decent scottish managers than there is english??

by the with a name like McClaren he must have some scottish in him!

Saints coming back from 2-0 down to draw against Partick was amazing though we probably didn't deserve it. We'll miss Kenny Deuchar when he goes.

Scumdee to win Div 1 this year, I think Hamilton will run out of steam at some point.

Kenny's gone. Not sure what to think really, especially when McIntyre's been put in charge for now.

    BENFICA!!!

We were absolutely dreadful, comical at times. But we're through, and the pressure's now on Rangers who're going to fuck it up against Lyon. I can just smell it now.

Another glorious failure, only this time it's Rangers not Celtic.

It was bound to happen after that Darcheville miss. Now he's been redcarded too.

    Quite gutting for the Huns.

Was a shame to watch, Heroic defending (after a cock-up) and a brilliant Ferguson effort, then Darcheville.

I felt a bit sorry for them, then I realised who it was, and laughed.
Then laughed a lot more five minutes later.
Then a lot more a few minutes after.

I then had a final hearty chuckly as the final whistle went.

As much as I wanted them to lose, they did surpass all expectations in even bringing it to the last day. Terribly hard group. Were never going to get out of it on paper and did vert well to even push it so far.

I am still gutted about Wednesday night. Getting to the last 16 of the Champions League is better than winning the UEFA Cup. You can quote me on that when we do win the UEFA Cup.

Daniel Cousin should never play for the club again. I think he wanted to be anywhere else on the planet rather than Ibrox on Wednesday. He was a disgrace. At least the Darch was clearly hurting at full time. Cousin couldn't give a fuck. Good riddance in January.

Whittacker is not a midfielder. Play him at left back until Steven Smith gets back to full fitness. He is only good enough to be a squad player, even though we spent decent money on him.

Hemdani is away in January. The guy is quality, but we don't really need him in the SPL. Give Thomson more responsibility. He was blown hot and cold so far, but I think with a bit more experience, he could be one of our star players.

Weir is past it. He is good in the air, but struggles against pace. Hopefulyl Webster can get fit for more than five minutes, because he would be a good replacement.

A striker is needed in January. Cousin is away, obviously. I would maybe get rid of Boyd. I am not sure what to make of Boyd. But if we got a decent bid for him, I would get rid. Spend the money that we get for Burke, Buffel, Hemdani, Cousin and Boyd on a top class stiker. Push the boat out on one signing that will get us excited about. If we win the League, then this season will still be a success.

Balde had a solid match, ill give him that, but Naylor (suprisingly) put in a great shift.
He was only playing to get himself in the shop window though, he'll be gone by mid january.

We shouldn't let Buffel go without a chance for him to prove himself, apparentley he has been great for the reserve team and he has a chance to provide something that Rangers completely lack through the middle, which is any creativity what so ever. If we sell him I can't see us finding anyone who provides that for the amount of money we'd be willing to spend. Last time he got a run in the team he was dissapointing but he suffered from the Rangers curse of an attacking player where you are often shoved out wide despite it clearly not being your best position.

In the game against Lyon the midfielders asked to push up more through the middle were Ferguson and McCulloch, neither of which, no matter how much Scotsport or the Record tell us, have any creativity or attacking prowess whatsoever. "Breaking the glass" to push Ferguson up front only makes a difference in the sense of what third of the pitch he's trying to hog the ball and do absolutely nothing with possession in.

I agree about Cousin, he needs to fuck off, even if he proves himself in anyway now his complete lack of effort in alot of important games should tell the manager enough.

I'd cash in on Hutton now, we could get 8 million for him. That could completely rebuild Rangers. The one bad thing is that Smith should not be trusted with 8 million as he'd spend it on Jay Mceveley, Gary Teale, Graeme Murty, Kenny Miller, Christian Daily and then one foreigner nobody has ever heard of but has an accessible agent.

How is that surprising? Naylor is great you tit. Was our player of the year last season and only suffered a bad run of form this year because of domestic problems.

Weird coincidence it had to be against United.

Back when Paul Sturrock was manager of Saints he collapsed when they played United.

Played for 4 years at Wednesday. Was going to be a great signing if not for all the injury problems he had.

    Massive shame.

I went once when it was Octopussy, it was a emotional rollercoaster, my heart lifted when I saw the bouncy castle then my heart dropped when I saw all the potential disease in the pool. The my heart lifted when I got really drunk, then it dropped again when my mate got punched in the face.

I can't believe they don't just get a proper manager back and get rid of all these Eastern Europeans. They were giving Rangers and Celtic at least abit of a run for their money under Rix and Burley.

Surely Romanov can't be happier not generating money but having all his mates there.

It would never have amounted to anything under either Rix or Burley. They had a purple patch of a season, that was it.

Of course, they were and still would be better with one of the above in charge, especially Burley. The amount of Lithuanians etc. in their team is actually unbelievable - there's a new player on their team sheet every week that nobody has ever heard of.

And no "proper manager" in his right mind would work for Romanov, it's degrading.

Yeah I don't deny it would have never amounted to winning anything, but at least they were up there causing problems. Don't they usually field five or six of the bastards? Thats half a fucking team.

Good to see that open letters from the Hearts Supporters Club about how embarrassing it was and being mocked at work etc etc had been taken into consideration.

I feel sorry for them as I really want them to do well just so someone can step up to the Old Firm. At one point it looked last season it looked that way then it just went to pieces. Hibs looked promising at first too this season, but they've gone downhill recently.

That's the thing - nobody will step up to Rangers' and Celtic's level.

No other team has the consistency. They can have a wonderful run of form, they can win several games in a row, whatever. It doesn't really mean much because Rangers and Celtic are also doing this.

It will have to be something special - win maches consistently AND beat Rangers and Celtic more often. It's not going to happen.

Hearts had that wonder season, perhaps you could say that, but then what? Since then they have fallen back down to their usual standard. No consistency.

God they are truly a joke club. It's not worth laughing about anymore, Hearts are just sad.

Hopefully Rangers can win all their games this month, because it'll give us a great advantage over Celtic, and I trust Smith to keep in the lead once we're there.

Kris Boyd missed a penalty today though, and he might well be off. Heard a rumour we're getting Billy Mehmet, who the hell is he?! Ezequerro and Dalla Bona too. Not exactly filling me with confidence.

Cousin can piss right off. He'll be lucky to score more than twice down south.

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Hinkel apparentily. Great signing.

At the moment, Motherwell are the best bet, but no I can't see it happening. Consistency definitely is the key as well as the ability to still grind out results despite playing crap.

Maybe if nearly every St Johnstone match was a win instead of a DRAW (though they did win today), we could get the glory days of 98-99 again.

Nah I'd say that consistency is the last thing you want and that you want the ability to lose matches while playing really well.

Remember when Smith was all ambitious and was getting in the likes of Laudrup and Gascoigne? I miss that guy.

EDIT: That rumour's been around for a bit though. And I wouldn't put it past Smith.

Never heard of a stop-gap signing? Does Alan Gow ring a bell?

Boyd and Cousin may be on their way out of the door. We would need some sort of backup.

I wasn't suggesting Gow was merely a stop-gap signing, moreso that he isn't good enough and signed for Rangers when it was being touted for weeks beforehand. Like the Mehmet situation.

And nobody has said any word to me directly about Mehmet, so don't worry, nobody is taking the piss out of me. It's all over the FollowFollow forums, people were talking about it at the Motherwell match on Boxing Day, and it's been going about on the supporters bus I use.

Again, I'm not saying he is going to sign. It's just what I and a lot of other people have been hearing for a while now.

How is Alan Gow in any way a stop gap signing. Alan Gow was not picked up to fill a gap but instead quite the opposite, a luxury, that a team like Rangers can afford to groom for a while. A stop gap signing would be somebody like when Rangers signed Mark Hately for that Celtic game, or when we signed Karl Cort, or when Man U signed Henrik Larsson, or when Rangers signed Ugo Eggyegioguoeguegugeog.

I wouldn't say he isn't good enough to sign for Rangers, he was quality for Falkirk last year, he has also been brilliant for Rangers in reserve games. I think he has been unfortunate with Naismith signing. But I think if we played our "sexy spl 4-5-1/4-3-3 hybrid, he would be far better on the left than McCulloch. He'd be far better on the left than McCulloch if we played plain old 4-5-1 aswell....or if we played 4-4-2....or 4-3-3 ......or 1-1-8.

As I've already said, I didn't mean Alan Gow was a stop gap signing, I was using him as a comparison to if we were to sign Mehmet; a player who is not really Rangers quality, who nobody believed we would sign.

Lets put it this way. They're both wankers.

Rangers quality is a myth, Smith gets away with signing people who aren't "Rangers quality" as long as they are Scottish. Le Guen and Advocaat both got crucified for alot of their signings because the majority of their signings were foreign. Either way, for every decent signing Rangers make, the myth of their being a "Rangers quality" has been eroded consistentley by constant settling for average players or moves which are completely baffling.

Ibrox to overgo a £700m overhaul, which will include a "floating pitch."

I'm impressed by this, but pretty annoyed at the lack of ambition by the apparent "united Rangers support". This might be complete Daily Ranger propoganda attempting to assume what they believe will be the general tone of Rangers fans. But I think Rangers has to be willing to accept a bit of evolution sometimes, changing the name is maybe not appealing, but a neccessary evil if we want to financially compete with a new stadium. The pros of an impressive new stadium surely outway the cons of losing the Ibrox name.
