    It's such a strange season.

    Villa's last five games:

    SMASH Liverpool H
    BEAT Leicester A
    GET BATTERED BY LEEDS H
Go 0-4 down to Southampton H
    BATTER Arsenal A

I do have faith in him, although I think some of his decisions are a bit baffling. Why he doesn't play our best forward in the middle when we have a great left sided player (Saka) who can come in is very odd.

I think he came into a very difficult situation and did a great job initially. Up to yesterday he had done a very good job organising a defence that was better than the sum of its parts. The signings this summer look good (bar William - was never sure about that one).

What we are really crying out for is a good No 10 (yes I know we have Ozil but he isn't going to be picked for whatever reason). That's why it is a shame we didn't get Aouar who looks perfect for us.

I think Pepe does have some talent he just isn't that consistent and for that price he should be.

Really? Chelsea have looked very leaky at the back. He has also been backed heavily in the transfer market - far more than Arteta has.

We were looking leaky but we've conceded 1 goal in the last 6 games. Silva and Mendy seem to make a huge difference at the back - Mendy's played 8 times so far and conceded just 2 goals. Silva is class.

Last year he made the champions league without backing and losing their talisman. This year the backing so far is looking good.

Arteta has been backed pretty well this year. 60m net in spend. Chelseas I think is 70m for the past 2 years.
Arsenals I think is about 100m more for the past 2 years...

    https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-c...saison_id/2020

Net spend can obviously be a bit misleading and Lampard has got a huge wedge of cash to spend this summer and no-one can deny that.

His defence has been a bit shit at times but so has Artetas attack.

Neither are great, are they boys?

One good thing to take from yesterday is that Liverpool went on a great run of form after we embarrassed them, so there's hope for Arteta to take Arsenal similarly to the top of the table like you recently predicted.

    Oh both are no doubt.

But that’s the thing they won’t go on a run.

We went on a good run of form because we’re absolutely brilliant and Klopp is a GOAT candidate manager. Arsenal won’t because, they’re shit. And Arteta is a camp & hoof fraud. Cheers.

You’re too nice, which is something all the Liverpool Fans on here down the years except for me and the original scouse Peter are guilty of. It’s sickening to read. Just be honest and tell him the reason Arsenal won’t go on a little run is because they’re fucking shite and Arteta will be sacked next summer when he comes 10th again.

Few years as in 4 or 5 before Klopp? As you know under Klopp we’ve been top 2 for most consistent team.

So I’m pretty glad that was a ppv game Sunday night so I didn’t have to watch it.
If Arsenal are to bounce back from this like Liverpool did, and its not unfeasable, just not quite as likely, how they do it is the big question.
Obviously actually scoring goals would help. Banging on about Ozil won’t as he isn’t in the squad.
So what do we change? It seems obvious to all of Arsenal Twitter we lack a creative link from midfield to attack. We are playing Auba out of position (even though he did well there previously), Pepe just isn’t cutting it and not getting a chance to any way and Willian only made 2 forward passes in the Villa game. So they aren’t working.
Maybe a change of formation, we play with 3 up top but don’t actually have the players to fit that imo.
Maybe a partnership of Auba and Laccazete with someone in behind, Saka might even be shout for that position.

Also the stubbornness needs to be knocked on the head, if it isn’t working change it, believing in the process is only going to cut it for so long.

I think at this stage its worth trying 4-3-3. Hopefully we can keep some of the good defensive habits we have picked up, but can also free some of our attacking options.

It just seems that going forward we need to be less rigid. Arteta wants to micromanage the team from the touchline. In terms of defending, nothing wrong with that. But going forward we seem to be too predictable. That's why I would pick Pepe over Willian. Pepe can be awful but he can also be brilliant and defenders don't know what he is going to do.

I think he is also conservative in that he relies on experience a bit too much. Willian and Lacazette are in awful form - they need to be dropped. Xhaka is another one. Then there is David Luiz, who is great on the ball but an absolute liability. I would certainly be trying to give more minutes to Willock (who can break into the box), Saka and Nelson.

We badly need a No.10 but that will have to wait until at least Jan. I think the following in a 4-3-3 formation would be something I would look at:-

    Leno

    Bellerin
    Gabriel
    Holding
    Tierney

    Partey
    Ceballos/Elneny (depending on the opposition)
    Willock

    Saka
    Auba
    Pepe

See Clarke has resigned over his comments. Its more than saying coloured isn't it? I mean i saw there was some other issues but lead reporting is the coloured bit and I don't quite understand the strength of the reaction but maybe I need to educate myself...

From the surface read I've done and I could be wrong it felt like clumsy language rather than mal intent but who knows

Yeah it was pretty awful. His supposed defence was that he had worked in the US and they were the terms used

The FA, and particularly the executive are not fit for purpose. Having old white men composing the entire decision making body just wont wash anymore.

He was chatting a load of waffle. If the term 'coloured' was used in the US I would perhaps be willing to consider his defence for five seconds, but it isn't. People of colour and coloured might sound notionally similar but they are not the same thing, and claiming that 'people of colour' often in the US made him think 'coloured' was acceptable in the UK doesn't make any sense. If he'd said 'people of colour' because of his background in the US, it would have been a reasonable defence. But then it wouldn't have been an issue either, because 'people of colour' isn't viewed as offensive.

It sounds like a relatively minor slip of the tongue and I'm sure he didn't mean anything by it, but if he's unaware of the connotations of 'coloured' or just unable to stop himself from saying it, then what business does he have heading a taskforce aimed at improving diversity and equality at the FA?

I saw a few people defending him saying that 'coloured' being unacceptable is relatively new and he is from a different era; 1) that is horse shit, 'coloured' was unacceptable when I was at primary school, so he's at least thirty years out of date, and 2) even if it was an excuse, maybe, just maybe, having a white man in his 70s heading up this programme isn't a good idea.

Like I said...an old boy saying coloured when he meant black isn't the worst thing in the world free of context. What it signifies about him, his position and the FA makes it a massive issue, and he had to go.

Right now I think it'll be this

    Sterling - Kane - Sancho

    Mount
    Rice - Henderson

    Chilwell - Gomez - Maguire - TAA

    Pope

But I would obviously love/need Super Jack to get in there.

    I'd love

    Sterling - Kane - Sancho

    Grealish

    Mount/Rice - Henderson

    Chilwell - Gomez - Coady - TAA

    Pope

I know Rice and Mount are extremely different players but it depends completely on the opposition. The idea of Jack in a proper No.10 role would be ideal with the lethal talent in front of his incredible playmaking, drives forward and passing skills. However, the reality is that he's playing now in that same position that Sterling, Rashford, Greenwood covet, and I don't believe Southgate will pick him as first choice there no matter what - even if he keeps up the world-class form he has shown. It would literally take an injury to Rashford or Sterling to get him that starting spot, which is a shame. I also frankly don't know loads about Sancho. Always played decently and it's almost an assumption that he's going to start given he is the only one seemingly happy to come in from the right. Grealish on the left and Sterling on the right, if possible, would be delicious.

We have never had the amount of talent in depth in midfield/attacking positions in my lifetime. We surely have to be among the actual favourites to win it next year. I have to hope that Southgate doesn't go too negative and cost us.

Can’t argue with either of those.
If only we had some of the old CBs, it’s the one area we are lacking in, an Adams, Ferdinand, Terry type. Not just a bloke with a massive head.

    Think it will be...

    Pickford

    Trippier - Gomez - Maguire - Chilwell

    Henderson - Rice

    Sterling - Mount - Rashford

    Kane

    I think it SHOULD be...

    Pope

    Walker - Gomez - Mings - Chilwell

    Ward-Prowse - Henderson

    Sterling - Grealish - Rashford

    Kane

Like you say though I think the key is the depth now. With my preferred line up, you'd have the likes of Sancho, Mount, Foden, Calvert-Lewin and potentially Greenwood and Barnes coming off the bench if required.

I think it's essential that one of Walker/Wan-Bissaka goes, as for all Trent's qualities he is not a good defender and against top sides deep in the competition where he can't get forward I think he would be found out massively. I have Ward-Prowse in because of his ability on dead balls which could be really important, but you could easily bring in Rice to shore things up. I've not included Bellingham in this because I've barely seen him play, presumably he is an option too.

The defence is still the weak link, in that we have tons of options but they're all fairly average. Gomez was the one centre back I thought was actually good, then he went shit and now he's got a long term injury. Maguire, Coady, Mings, Dier, Keane, Dunk, Tarkowski...all as mediocre as each other. Same for the keepers really.

Do you not think he'll try 3 at the back as I don't really understand why he would be playing it now if he wasn't keen

Fuck knows tbh. It's a difficult one, I get why he wants three at the back when the defence is so ropey, but it does feel like he's packing the team with more average players and having to leave better ones on the bench.

I see England failed to win a trophy again.

He’s useless. No coincidence our defence became shit when Matip got injured and was out for a year, and Gomez came in. He was good about 3 years ago til Ben Mee broke his leg on purpose. I’m writing him off now. Don’t rate the player even though he’s still better than most of the other shite in the league. Obsessed with going away to England and getting himself injured, an offence punishable by death in my eyes, so to hell with him. Prefer Williams and Phillips after seeing them this month.

I’m betting on Leicester beating us this week. Putting dough on it. We’ve got half a squad. Playing with about 5 players out of a squad of 25. It’s embarrassing for everyone else that we’re 1 point off 1st.

Really? Nah fella I rate him always have. I mean it’s unfortunate he keeps on getting injured training for England. Before lockdown in March and the season before he was very good and him and VVD where a perfect partnership.

Matip I like but he plays 3 games and is out for a few weeks, can hardly say he’s reliable.

I didn’t say he was reliable, I said he is much better than Gomez. Remember that run to winning the Champions League in 2019 and that Champions League Final? Well forget about it with Moura, Son, Dele Alli and Kane et al running at Gomez for 90 minutes. We’d have fucking lost, if Matip didn’t play. Then the 4-0 with Barcelona, Messi and Coutinho up against Gomez! he’s bang average.

Unfortunate my fucking arse dude. He’s obsessed with the idea of going away to England and getting injured. So is Henderson, Robertson’s done himself in and Salah caught Covid seemingly on purpose by attending some big silly wedding in Egypt. The squad aren’t arsed about this season, and we’ll be rewarded by doing an Arsenal and losing to Leicester at home this week.

I can't believe I am now going from

GET GREALISH IN THE ENGLAND TEAM FFS SOUTHGATE

    to

GET HIM OUT SO HE CAN REST A BIT FFS YOU'RE GONNA KNACKER THE POOR LAD OUT SOUTHGATE FFS

He and McGinn playing three straight games for their countries is going to fucking kill our midfield. Brighton (H) next up - whilst on paper this looks winnable, not relying on the opposition to attack and for us to counter will be a big ask. No wonder we are 5/4 to win despite our form.

Bonkers stat of the day about Villa.

We have 15pts this season. From the same corresponding fixtures last season (replacing Fulham with Norwich), we had four points. So we are 11pts up on the same fixtures as last season. That is brilliant.

I think he'll be tempted to go half way with it.

Dier or Rice in the 3 so you can flex to a 4 with them in midfield if needed mid-game. Chilwell and TAA wingbacks. Does he bring Kyle Walker as a 3rd CB and to cover RB? Probably not in my book. Reece James and maybe Maitland-Niles.

Henderson/Mount in the middle and then 2 of Grealish/Sterling/Sancho/Rashford with Kane up top.

I'm expecting a little that the squad size may be increased for euros due to the fixture pile up but otherwise

    Pickford, Pope, Henderson
TAA, Chilwell, Maguire, Mings, Coady, Dier, James, Saka
Henderson, Rice, Mount, Ward-Prowse, Grealish, Maitland-Niles, Foden
    Sterling, Sancho, Kane, Rashord,DCL

That's 23 and is leaving out so many big names. Walker, CHO, Greenwood, Ings, Bellingham, Abraham, Maddison, Barkley

That's before you even look at Bamford, Phillips, RLC, Tomori, Tarkowski, Lampty?

I could see Maitland-Niles not making it and same with Ward-Prowse. Calvert-Lewin I think makes it ahead of Abraham and others

Yeah it's a funny one. Right now there are at least 25 or 26 players that I think will *definitely* be in the squad, which obviously isn't possible.

My jinxing worked again!!! Happy with that. Battered Leicester (who were top going into this weekend) 3-0 despite having 10 players out injured. Always more fun to win when everyone’s written you off before the game.

Not getting carried away yet though. Champions League on Wednesday and then we’ve been fucked with the 12.30pm kickoff away at Brighton. No way we’re winning that. Take a draw, there, and hope Chelsea do us a favour and beat Spurs.... Do us another favour... like when they bent over backwards to beat Man City at Stamford Bridge on the 25th of June 2020 to hand us the Premier League Title.

Worth pointing out that it’s only due to match-fixing we’re joint top, not top. 2 points fucked out of us at Woodison in stoppage time, for a perfectly good goal. Fuck off. Still though, if we do keep winning, only serves to make my 10/10 non stop fun & games that more enjoyable.

Gonna be the narrative to end all narratives if Liverpool sensationally retain the title with 10 players out injured, match fixing working against us, Tramp FC deliberately crippling our players every Merseyside derby, never get a penalty, our opposition immune to Red Cards, the Referees/VAR awarding penalties outside the box and turning every 50/50 challenge into a 0/100 challenge cos we never get them. I mean if we do retain it you might as well retire the competition, name us permanent English Champions then award us a full size gold actual Premier League trophy instead of a tinpot 6 inch tall gold replica. It’ll be the greatest title win anyone’s ever seen or ever will see. Everyone knows it.

We definitely won’t do it with all that stuff working against us. Do our best to get Top 4 and go again next season with a full squad and some fans in Anfield. Winning the league in these circumstances with our injuries and everything set up and rigged against us has never been done before, you’d simply have never seen anything so amazing. I mean yeah sure I hope it does, but I’m a realist, it won’t happen.

    See Gerard Houllier has died.

Bit of a shock, he was at one of the French Women's matches about a month ago and looked OK (To be fair he had a mask on though.)

Shame, met him a couple of times and he seemed like a decent bloke. Proper footballing person too.

That slob Jose Mourinho’s got a bee in his bonnet about our injury list, trying to say we’ve only got 1 injury when we’ve got 10, because he’s scared he’s gonna fail to beat a team with 10 players out injured and everyone will laugh at the old washed-up cock this time tomorrow night. Look I’ll say right now; Spurs will beat us tomorrow and they’re favourites for the league by a mile. I’ve been waiting for them to beat us in revenge ever since the day we absolutely battered them in the Champions League Final in Madrid last year. I thought it would happen as soon as last season... but the least successful team in London fucking lost to us home & away as we heroically went on to win the Premier League.

But like i said, no idea why he’s getting his excuses in, they’ll win and open up their little 3 point lead. You’d actually be worried in their shoes not be be further ahead. Nothing to stop City, Chelsea, Leicester etc going on a little run and giving them a headache. We won’t. I’ve said all along we’re in a top 4 battle this season.

I hate every single Evertonian who has ever lived. Hell will freeze over before I say nice things about an Everton player, fan or manager. You’ll simply never hear those words come out of my mouth. Besides, he only said that because Houllier never won the CL or the League. He won’t be on here in 30 years piping up with another sob story when Klopp or Benitez (who was right under their skin) dies. Because they deliver the big trophies and they’re jealous of them. He’s already admitted he hates Klopp in fact. I don’t fall for their Mr Nice Guy act the fucking common as muck feral, snivelling, laughably unsuccessful bitter blue tramps.

I don't know to be honest.

I think we need our starting 11 fit to do anything of note. We have had no full backs for the past couple of games and we use our full back a lot attacking wise.

We are fine going forward as long as DCL stays fit. Defensively though we are poor, Pickford is ropy and we stand off too much which results in loads of goals from just outside the box flying in.

I would never bet on a game involving us one way or the other put it like that.

Yeah he has got potential. Hard to really tell as he has not really played at centre back yet he has just been filling in wherever we need him. Got loads of pace.

He is a nark as well which I like. We have far too many nice players who go missing. He has only been here a few weeks and he is already bollocking James for playing a slightly bad ball to him.

Our third midfielder is an issue, Allan and Doucoure are boss (Doucoure is a bit inconsistent) but Gomes, Sigurdsson and Davies are pretty useless. At least Davies runs around a bit though.

Aye was a big shock to me.

He was my first proper manager I warmed too as 16 year old in 1998. Was to young for Evans and the ones before him. So I’m gutted he’s passed away. I met him once around 2002, came across as a brilliant guy which going my what ex/current players/managers he certainly was.

That really couldn’t have gone any better lads. The way the entire fun & games played out, culminating in Firmino (who Spurs fans are obsessed with calling shit) bursting the net in the 90th minute Just when I sit and think it can’t get any better it does. The script was written yesterday when that gobshite Jose Mourinho piped up trying to say we only had 1 injury instead of 10. I knew we had the fucking bastard on the ropes as soon as that happened. It got even better at the final whistle when he started crying to Klopp and the tv interviewer, saying Klopp is too passionate on the touchline. This is the same bellend who danced down the touchline at Anfield beating his chest that time, the one time his shithouse tactics worked. We’ve got him sacked twice in the last 5 years. Shit manager. Can’t beat a team with 10 injuries. Hoof. Harry Kane playing in defence. Won nothing for ages. Failures.

Bit like you lads on ‘ere isn’t he, Mourinho. Tedious oaf loves to give it out. But doesn’t like it back at him when the tables turn.

Not going down without a fight gents. That goes for all of you. Like I said, get your hits in when you can, because you’re stuck with us ruining your lives forever.

    TOP.

    CHAMPIONS.

    What’s Redcafe?

Suck up lol. No I just act normal and myself and not some attention seeking prick who probably got bullied as a kid and takes it out on random strangers on a message board to look ‘cool’

Bet you’re one of those so called ‘Liverpool Fans’ from Red and White Kop that support us just because you think it makes you look good.

I never once said you weren’t being yourself. I know full well you’re being yourself; a suckup. Bad snide you. You deffo post on Redcafe bro. You just gave the game away by pretending you don’t know what Redcafe is.

I only support Liverpool because I’m from Liverpool. If I didn’t come from Liverpool, then I’d be the same as everyone on here, I’d be really jealous and embittered of the fact Liverpool are much bigger, better and more successful than my dreadful alternative club.

Love the fact I’m spoiling the party for you & all your little mates on ‘ere fella! Haha.

I had no idea what red cafe is serious but no I’ve googled it why would I post on there it makes no sense?

Suck up? Snide? I hardly post on here haha. You’re the one who’s always on here posting and you came back didn’t you? I’m not arsed who’s party you’re spoiling, you just love the attention which no one is arsed about anymore we’re all grown up, well most of us.

Oh you could support Everton too being from Liverpool. Also my 2 good mates from Liverpool went on to support Arsenal & Newcastle, so to be honest you could be a Coventry fan in disguise who knows.

Anyways, had any luck in the ballot for a ticket since we where allowed back in Anfield? No go for me yet.

I mean if you really want me to police you I can.

Were your feelings hurt because I told you to not fill up a full page with 3 large images?

Were they hurt when you were banned for THREE WHOLE DAYS?

How good is Salah though? Love him. Going to be a bit gutted when he’s gone. And my days are finished when I get attached to a player and then he fucks off.

Nobody except me is going to agree with you man. To our bitter rivals, Salah is shite and overrated. Everyone on ‘ere thinks Andy Cole is better than him. If Messi played for us he’d be shit. Sucking up to them again at the end there by putting the image in their head of him leaving won’t make them reply saying nice things about Salah/Liverpool/you.

We’ve always had you dudes in the fanbase obsessed with seeking acceptance from the enemy, flapping around online being nice to all our enemies . Saying nice things about our rivals, courting their friendship is death penalty shit to me bro. Why would you do these terrible things why, whyy.

what the fuck you going on about now? It was a question to you about him. We all know he’s going to go was asking your thoughts as a Liverpool fan.

I mean are you a Liverpool fan really? No actually I get it you’re one of those who had a shit childhood (having Tim as your name probably didn’t help) and think the world owes them everything and has to lash out at everything. It’s weird you’re a weirdo, man up and just have a normal conversation with someone instead of acting billy big balls all the time.

How’s your ballot going from the season tickets list? Any luck you super Liverpool fan?

I’m not answering your questions. You bitched out by replying “SOME” to some Liverpool hating American bitter further up the page. I do not fuck with you type of Liverpool fans. I’m in the other half of the fanbase from you. I lump you in with the rival fans, worse even, because there’s a strong element of treason to the whole way you move.

My conscience is clear because I don’t suck the rival fan dick all day. You lost your temper as soon as I called you on it. Truth hurts bro! You beg for the acceptance of our enemies, you admitted you don’t see them as enemies at all. You’re from somewhere like Devon or Kent. Streets of Liverpool you get slapped, all that trying to be nice to your enemy stuff. I used to say all the time how there’s too many Liverpool fans around like that, especially online. It makes me sick. Need to get rid of all of you. probably only been here to watch the match, fuck outta here chump .

Been walking the streets of Liverpool all my life and no little ketwig scruff like you would ever slap me. Get the fuck out of here.

I think it’s you that lost your temper because I didn’t suck up to you and have my own mind thank you very much. Again I’ll see you on the Kop super fan? You need directions for Anfield?
