Absolutely delighted to be knocked out of that pile of shite as early as we usually are. Absolutely Terrible match, both teams shit, the BTEC Manuel Neuer in goal so obviously the shootout is a wrap once they successfully plodded and hoofed their way to a 0-0 draw and pens.

3 time, 3 time, 3 timeeeeeeee beaters of LiVARpool in just a few short months. Incredible achievement by Arteta, no doubt the best young manager in football at the moment.

We done them at home, Wembley and now Anfield. So proud of this team to continually beat this supposed best team ever

    Up the Gunners!

Sacked by June when he fails to get Top 4. Can’t win a game without a penalty shootout as we saw on monday night, when he got battered in the League. No shootouts in the Premier League so no top 4 unfortunately. Should still retain 8th Place and have a good cup run in the FA Cup though, so a good season ahead. Happy for them.

As for Liverpool looking forward to that vital free midweek just before Christmas. Got better things to do than watch Carabao Cup at christmas time or any other time in fact.

It was great to go on the cup run last season and reach Wembley, but ultimately it's very unlikely we would win it given Man City and a few other clubs seem to be taking it more seriously than usual, so I'm not too down about our second string going out to Stoke Poges last night. Huge focus on the League so we don't have as many injuries pop up like those that fucked us last year. If anything last night showed the urgency that we need to have in getting rid of dross like Lansbury.

It’s always a massive relief to get knocked out as early as possible. It’s a dreadful competition and a drain on resources. Klopp couldn’t contain his joy last night in all his post matches interviews, when you consider what Klopp’s usually like when we don’t win and I’m sure Aston Villa’s manager is delighted to be out too.

Nah, he won't be sacked. He is far too good, he will get us back to the top in the next few years, love him. He has already shown he has no problems beating the most overrated team in PL history just imagine what he'll do with some better players.

Also beaten most of the big teams (and Liverpool) without shootouts in the league so no worries there.

Won a trophy in his first 6 months, something Klopp couldn't manage.

    3 timeeeeeeees

3-1, easy peasy. Much prefer this version of Arsenal who never leave their own half compared to 20 years ago when they were good.

I see you’ve finally changed your custom status then? Did seem a bit weird to still keep it even after you lost 3-1 to Liverpool in the Premier League on monday.

Finally after less than a few days? You had Chelsea status a year after it happened

You might prefer us to the Invincibles (who wouldn't, best team in English football history) but this team who plays in their own half beat you lot 3 times in a matter of a few months.

Keep crying them salty tears JS.

99 points comfortably finishes above a team with 90 points so the history books will forever say otherwise i’m afraid. As unfortunate as that is for Arsenal that’s just the way things are.

No Champions League winning medals in that Arsenal squad either except for the one Henry won when he left and joined a much better team. A squad has to win the CL to be a great side, everyone knows that.

Then we’re both in agreement, I’m happy with the 3 points you so easily gave up on monday as we’re The Champions and trying to retain the Title, you’re happy with the shootout win yesterday as you’re a Carabao Cup Team challenging for the Carabao Cup. Everyone happy.

Nah, it isn't about points. Unbeaten, playing the best football, gold trophy and iconic players. No comparison. This LiVArpool team is behind Invincibles, City 2018, Man U 99 and Chelsea 05 minimum.

So, yeah 3 wins against LiVARpool, Arteta is great, loving the bitter reaction and life is good

Arsenal are only in the debate in the sense of “How about Arsenal?... No, no you’re alright mate, not them. Decent side but nowhere near the best ever, only got 90 points and did nothing in Europe. City or Liverpool for me as they had the 2 best managers, and got the most points. Liverpool edging it as they also won the Champions League.”

I’m just glad he managed to score past Arsenal in the 3-1 win over Arsenal in the Premier League on monday night. Without him would’ve been a much harder game, and i might not have been having all this fun all week, watching the tape back and enjoying the heroic victory. and I can’t have that.

    Aouar rejects Arsenal.

Lining up a loan bid for Danny Drinkwater I’m hearing.

Talking of Drinkwater, did anybody see what he said about his loan spell at Villa when he contributed a literal negative to the club?

    :.

"I was catching up three pre-seasons, a full season with no football and half a season where I’ve played two games. And I’m thinking ‘eight games, I’ll be fine’."

"I was trying to rush it and, to be fair, Dean Smith was quality. He didn’t put any pressure on me, but I felt like I had no time. I played four or five games and I didn’t manage to do anything. The fans were waiting for Danny Drinkwater and this loaf of bread turned up in midfield."

He also recalled failing to make it onto the pitch after being named as a substitute against Leicester City - a game the club lost 4-0 before the season's suspension, a game which eventually sparked his infamous training ground clash with Spanish winger Jota.

"I was thinking ‘Jesus, I’ve just been back to somewhere I had so much success and I couldn’t get on the pitch. This is embarrassing’,"

"I got some stick from the fans and I woke up and I was raging. After training I planned to go and speak to Dean Smith about things, but then I went and headbutted Jota.

"We were on the same team, that’s how stupid it was. I’ve never done that, I’ve never laid someone out before. It was ridiculous. I apologised straight away and I had to go home. I texted him straight after to apologise and take full responsibility. I Google translated it into Spanish as well to make sure he’d understand.

"I told myself that I needed to clean myself up big time. I must have taken a good look at myself s**t loads of times. I had a wake up call after the drink driving, another wake up call after the nightclub and then another wake up call after the incident at Villa. Then it’s like, this has got to stop.

"Drink driving, I’ve not driven since, because I can’t, the nightclub incident, I’ve not really been in an English nightclub since and I don’t plan to and I definitely can’t put myself in the situation to fight with a team-mate again."

    Absolutely horrendous at the back.

Also should have been a double red card. But that doesn't excuse how poor the defending is.

Not sure what to make of that.

To absolutely humble the best champions the country has seen for years like that is a once in a lifetime sort of result. Barkley adds power and determination to the midfield which opens up everyone else - Grealish has never had so much space and he just pops in with two goals and three assists. If Southgate doesn’t start him then he needs a smack. Watkins - nothing more to say. Works his arse off and is a goalscorer. Delighted with him. Phenomenal result and I’d like to think we are going to be safe this year now.

    7 fucking 2.

Fairplay to Villa they outplayed, outworked us and wanted it more. It could of been even worse. Hopefully that is the wake up call this team needs. We win together we lose together as a team. We will come back stronger hopefully

If you play a high line and then don't press as a team then you're going to get beat and Villa they was excellent. We got what we deserved for such a half arsed performance probably thinking we could stroll up to Villa and not put the work in.

To be fair, you called it.

I can't help but love Klopp. No moaning, went up to Smith and clapped at full time, gave all props to Villa saying how good Watkins was and referencing Grealish "what a player". Top man, this is just a blip for Liverpool - you should still stroll the League.

Love Klopp, Only time he annoyed me was when he ran on to the pitch against Everton, But otherwise excellent.

BTW I watched Man Utd/Spurs later on MOTD and what a fucking embarrassment Lamela was, Though the officiating was more so, How can you send one off and not the other?

Totally agree. I was convinced VAR would have either over-ruled it or sent them both off. Though to be fair, a yellow each and I'd have had no complaints either. Lamela is totally a Mourinho type of player, an utter shithouse.

Bollocks we just scored a last minute winner in the derby. Don’t deny you wouldn’t be loving if it was your manager.

Yeah but you lot treated him like absolute shit after that Madrid game, which I think is the point PG was making.

Still in my opinion that’s a weird thing to be annoyed about. He never hurt nobody, emotions got the better of him given the circumstances. Duncan Ferguson done it to us I’d probably be like ‘you twat’ and be sad.

I was expecting much worse. I’ve proven I’ve got the staying power lads, so it’s about filling your boots when you get the chance going up against me. I was right in a way, I predicted a much tougher game than Arsenal. i was hopeful of a draw but that was before half the team caught Covid or a 6 week injury. International break come at the right time and I’ll reassess things before the game against the Motherfuckers in 2 weeks.

Still 5th in the table which is ahead or level with everyone except the Motherfuckers. including Aston Villa, Arsenal and Spurs.

Marathon not a sprint gents. And i don’t just mean this season... i mean the next 30 or 40 seasons, because that’s how long you’re stuck with me.

I don’t blame you Simon for using mute, because if I am who everyone claims I am, then I know I’m the entire reason you were so keen not to lose that Champions League Final to Liverpool last year.

Don’t worry though, Mr Arsenal himself: Romford Pele danced round the room when Origi burst the net against you. so i’m sure he now feels worse than you did considering recent developments

It wasn’t that impressive. Half our squad is injured or sick, and none of us could be arsed playing. We didn’t play, we let you win in fact. I was baffled at the end when you didn’t win 11-2, you let us off the hook. In a fair fight, full squad vs full squad it’s 2 Liverpool wins same as last season. I moved on by this morning and only posted because the rhetoric on here is that I wouldn’t be back.

Many people have claimed defeat against me over the years but (allegedly) here I still am. Liverpool have already won the lot during my time supporting the club so I’m only truly defeated if my enemies to come to Liverpool oneday and piss on my grave if i haven’t already done the opposite first.

If you had beaten any champions prior to last season with an almighty dicking like the one we shelled out to your boys then you would have made more posts about it than anyone. You go nuts over beating Arsenal 3-1 ffs. Probably a good time to be humble and accept you got battered for once by a better team on the night.

Robertson, Trent, Gomez, Van Dijk, Fabinho, Firmino, Keita, Wijnaldum, Salah all regulars last year and your new £45m signing Jota on top... you would do better to just clap and appreciate the rape like your boy Klopp did when he walked up to Dean Smith and just applauded.

    - - - Updated - - -

Half of our squad had the sniffles too. Grealish carrying an injury and still involved in five goals. What a fucking player he is

It’s missing 3 of the best players in the world in Alisson, Mane and Thiago. Also missing our captain Henderson and Matip who’s our 2nd best defender. Everyone was traumatised over the Covid outbreak and the Alisson injury the day before the game. It’s literally half a team and that’s why you won. Had we had those players we wouldn’t have lost 7-2, it would have been a comfortable Liverpool win so no can’t say i’m impressed actually. Takes a lot to impress me, i’m a Liverpool Fan and we have high standards.

I’ll give you this; in the record books it says Aston Villa 7 Liverpool 2. I’ll give you that just like the same record books say you’ve won 1 European Cup compared to our 6, that Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-0 in the Champions League Final, and Liverpool got 99 points compared to the 2004 Arsenal team who only got 90.

Do you not even slightly feel its a bit shit when they laid off so many people?

I'm assuming they've looked at the league this year and thought we can get CL lets go for it but again it's such bad optics all round

Yeah of course I feel bad about the lay offs, it is shit and I am not happy about how they have acted there. I think the Kroenkes are not good owners at all. However, it is possible to feel sad about the redundancies and at the same time be excited about signing players who will improve the squad.

You are right in that we do need to make CL this season as we are paying some very high wages to likes of Ozil *sigh* and Auba.

How the fuck did Villa beat Liverpool 5-0 one season and 7-2 the next. Mental.

I don’t even dislike Liverpool. Nice group of players, great manager. It’s an honour to batter the best team in Europe. I still can’t believe it lads. Grealish to start for England?

    Genuine question:

Is Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool the biggest shock result in Premier League history?

Not even bragging here. I can't think of one that is more eye-opening considering they are champions, the ridiculous scoreline, the fact that we stayed up by the width of a pube last season... my mind goes to games like Southampton beating United 3-1 with the grey shirt, but nothing as humbling as what we saw on Sunday. Any suggestions?

I think it's either of the two you mentioned (although Southampton was 6-3!). I'd personally give the edge to the Villa game though. Crazy result

I referenced the grey shirt and 3-1. Further, Keane was sent off after 20 minutes in the game you're referring to, Southampton were an established PL club and had beaten them the previous season.

The Saints Leicester 9 0 last season was pretty insane.

They even let him score, and I more or less mean that literally, to patronise him.

Palace/Liverpool, in the year Liverpool should have won the title before, blew me away.

Your result on Sunday was obviously amazing, but because of how ridiculous everything is at the moment I don't think the absurdity of it is really hitting as much as it otherwise would.

It's probably the biggest shock in terms of the relative quality of the clubs and the scoreline, but I don't know if it's the most shocking. City beating United 6-1 at Old Trafford is the biggest one for me, it felt like the defining moment in the power shift from the dominant side of the previous 20 years to their underachieving neighbours. Prior to that, I didn't really feel like it was possible for United to get battered like that at home. I'm not sure Old Trafford has ever been as intimidating since.

It ultimately meant nothing but the most unbelievable game I remember off the top of my head was Newcastle 4 Arsenal 4 where Newcastle came back from 0-4 after 25 mins.

Great call on 1-6. The actual game was whatever in the long run, but the statement it made is still just as true.
