Anytime I've been to a book signing they basically refuse to sign anything else apart from the book.

The only experience of a signing I had was with Wolf from gladiators when I was 9 so I'm pretty new.

You think he'll put Torn is a Cunt in there?

Fucking hell. Sat in front of him as he read extracts out in front of the paparazzi. Got a picture with him and my mate. I told him he was an underrated broadcaster, and he said WELL THATS WORTHY OF SHAKING MY HAND quite loudly. I laughed. He then said "ah, your name is Ross. I know a Ross. Jonathan Ross."

the bit where he's trying to explain why going from having a prime time tv show on the BBC to North Norfolk Digital isn't a downward spiral is brilliant - "because it's not, it's not Richard"

Well there's no point in buying the same thing twice. I assume the audiobook is funnier because it has is vocal delivery on top of the material itself?

If I had one I can't imagine I'd ever bother with the other.

As a student of film, I'd have thought you'd appreciate the differences. I've got the transcripts of the episodes of the TV show. I don't think it's much different to that.

I just finished the audio version. What a marvellous surprise that turned out to be. When was the last time something this good arrived with such little fanfare? Genuine question. It was like a reward for being a comedy nerd. And again, when was the last time that happened?

Hopefully the fact that they were able to create such a large amount of material of such a high quality might convince whoever needs persuading (whether it's the writers or the commissioners) that another full series could be made.

The entire Dave Clifton chase is fucking fantastic. It was described so perfectly, I feel like I've watched it rather than listened to it.

Hopefully the fact that they were able to create such a large amount of material of such a high quality might convince whoever needs persuading (whether it's the writers or the commissioners) that another full series could be made.

The entire Dave Clifton chase is fucking fantastic. It was described so perfectly, I feel like I've watched it rather than listened to it.
the film is next is it not?

Fuck knows, it's been rumoured for so long that there's no point in thinking about it. The fact that it was mooted years ago and since then we've had two series of Mid Morning Matters and the autobiography suggests that they maybe never got the go-ahead for the movie.

I looked at it the other way. These two projects make it more likely there will be a film imo. They wouldn't just release a film without renewing interest with things such as MMM. If the book sells well and gets a good reception then it makes commercial sense to do the film.

When it makes the big screen, they absolutely must do Savoury 99s at the cinema.

You lot should all listen to the audiobook so you can have some new quotes to use, repeating those ones from a decade a go is saaaaaaaaaaaad.

Him getting angry about the waiter not serving him a small amount first and then rectifying it by downing the full glass then having him pour a bit is still one of my favourite moments.

There are loads of little unloved quotes from the series that I hold up there with the best. "INTO ME!", "Probably me next", "Use a sausage as a breakwater".

I probably use "probably me next" a little bit too much in real life.

You fucking what? Alf you have been browbeaten by the non-banter of the FIFA thread. The book is up there with anything from the Partridge canon. Have you reached the Gunnell anecdote yet?

Well I was a little disappointed with the Mid Morning Matters stuff in all honesty, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt as I wasn't really as attentive as usual with those.

I loved the bit where he likened the girl at the strip club to Alan Sugar's daughter.

"Mind you, she was no apprentice.....she was a bloody magician".

I'm downloading the audiobook at the moment. Last week I got my hands on a special 4 disc collection of the original 6 radio shows from a seller on Amazon. There's some stuff which was later adapted for the TV series, but I was laughing myself silly in the car. He's just a superb character.

I listened to them throughout the week - they were a treat indeed. As Simon says above, sometimes it's the little things which I really enjoy. Like when a caller is saying how patronising he is to women, and he replies "Look, have you got a question dearie?"

The guests on the radio show are great as well. "There are no gradations of genius, one either is or is not one". Little fucking cunt.

has anyone found themselves slipping into Partridge vernacular at all in social or professional situations, or at least being sorely tempted to?

I was talking about something in a team meeting and ended it with "Not literally, that would be hideous". I was so embarassed that I had blurted out a Partridge quote, but at least I used it in the right context and it got a big laugh.

I think he's used it a few times. In Knowing Me Knowing Yule, he says it after describing how Liz Heron gave birth to a baby heron. I'm pretty sure he used it in one of the early radio shows too, when he's describing how his Amercian co-presenter has legs that go all the way up to her armpits or something.

My other half constantly goes "Yes! It's an extender" whenever we have to extend the dining room table.

I used to use phrases all the time, but had to force myself to cut it out. I will end up slipping up now and again if I watch a season through though.

There's only so many times she'll let me get away with "Classic intercourse"...

Bought the book the other day, it's a ruddy good read so far. Just up to where's KMKY is about to start.

When I'm finished, I'm going to read it again and actually play the soundtrack.
