new season starts september 27th, and by that trailer, it looks like it's going to be quite awesome. john lithgow can play a creep pretty well, and we get the return of frank lundy, who i loved in season 2. here's hoping it's better than season three.

my only issue is why does miami seem to be a breeding ground for these homicidal whack jobs? i'd like to see another season where dexter is the only one killing people in town.

Im psyched for Season 3 to come out this month so I can be caught up on Dexter. One of the top 3 shows on TV today, easily.

I'm a bit surprised that this time there's no mystery about who the killer is, but I have 100% faith that they will hit every nail right on the head as they have always done.

I'm also fucking stoked that they brought back Lundy! As long as I don't have to see his pasty arse again.

Should bring up some tension with Deb and that new guy shes banging.

Same here. I don't think they could have got any one better.

I've never been in this thread because I only watched up to episode nine of Season One before kind of getting sidetracked with it all, meaning I also missed Season Two when that was shown. I ended up buying both on DVD, though, and I had a huge catch up right before Season Three was shown on FX.

One and Two were phenomenal, absolutely amazing. I got through them so quickly because I just had to watch the next episode right there and then. Season Three wasn't as good, it was a lot slower and the season finale was a little disappointing, but compared to most shows, it was still pretty fantastic and great writing. It was always going to be hard to consistently be so amazing.

The trailer for Season Four has got me absolutely psyched, however. I can't wait. I watched so much Dexter in a short space of time, I'm really missing it now

Might give Season One another run-through...

    What an amazing promo poster.

Any news on when this will be shown on FX in the UK? I guess I could just download it and stream to my TV, but it's just not quite the same. If there's a huge wait, though, then fuck it, I'll just download and watch it again when it's out over here.

I've got 3 episodes left of the 1st series, and its pretty great. I love the character of Dexter with the whole Patrick Bateman style "I'm not there" kind of attitude, also with the flashbacks of him and his adopted dad are probably my favourite scenes, I've loved James Remar ever since The Warriors. Also Mark Pellegrino making recurring role was a pleseant shock, with me being a fan of Lost and all. Think I'll jump straight onto Season 2 after I'm done with this.

Just found out that Dexter is married to his sister in real life. Yuk! Pictures of them on the red carpet hugging and kissing and holding hands looks weird.

Liked it, but didn't love it. The dialog has become campy in many ways, but it's still great to have the show back. Lundy's return is nice, and I like what they're doing with most of the supporting characters. The car crash was nice and will set up the first big problem for Dexter to face.

We will see, but it was only OK.

Premiere was interesting but I felt kind of bored at certain points. However the ending was a great cliffhanger. Very interesting to see how he finds a way out of the car crash with the dead body still being in the car.

Just watched the premiere and loved it. Lots of subplots already and the show feels quite busy with them but in a good way. Dexter having the unfamiliar handicap of a young child to raise and the things that brings with it like the fatigue is a lovely touch, it made the cliffhanger at the end really enjoyable. I'm assuming the cop that nearly booked him will come across the car crash, hell maybe Dexter will break Harry's code and have to silence the guy too. Probably not though.

John Lithgow was a bit bloody creepy in the 5 minutes he was onscreen. The opening kill he did was actually pretty disturbing I thought. Oh and thanks for showing us your arse about 4 times John, but at least he didn't turn around.

I adore Masuka, he's probably my favourite character in the show and his somewhat odd naivety with not seeing that Batista and Maria are an item is good comic relief. Deb and Quinn are alright at the moment too, yet another relationship coming up with Quinn and the bint who looks like Lisa Snowdon - that could either be awful or good fun.

The return of Lundy is quality as well I hope him and Dexter will become a mighty duo of John Lithgow hunters, if indeed it's Lithgow who is the 'Trinity killer' as strongly hinted. Would be amazing if it's the one Quinn's dipping instead.

(Spoilerish prediction: Something is going to happen with the baby. I think Lithgow will kidnap it sometime very deep into the season.)

Also, every time Bautista speaks, it makes me laugh. He's an awesome character, but his voice is so easy to imitate.

    Loved it again.

I don't quite know how the show can get any better at the moment it's so on form it's ridiculous. Quinns, Masuka, Dexter, Angel, Maria, Rita, JOHN LITHGOW, Lisa Snowdon lookalike person Quinn is fucking and hell even HARRY are all so good at present.

Next week's looks mega too, can't wait.

Lithgow getting the woman to jump was truly one of the more chilling scenes I can remember seeing on television in quite some time.

The bit when Dexter pushed Astor into the pool was funny as anything, I need to find a gif of that. The reaction from Rita

And the whole of Masuka's lines from the crime scene at the docks I love him

Dexter has basically always been awkward/uncomfortable with everybody. It's one of the central themes of the show.

Though he's clearly not the brightest as I would have just caught the crook rather than running around like a criminal myself looking incredibly suspect.

Thinking about it, removing that awful Lila plot thread the show hasn't put a foot wrong.

Awesome episode, and preview for next episode looks really good.

I know it will most likely never happen, but I just want to see Rita's reaction to finding out Dexter's secret.

How awesome. I know its huge and all, but I dont think anything will feel as big as the cliffhangers we got in season 2. Still. Pretty fucking sweet. I say it every episode, but I cant believe how awesome this show is and how much I love it.

I am starting to wonder if we are going to go back to deb investigating Harrys informants though.

I bloody love this show, it's consistently brilliant.

Can't wait for next week (not watching the trailer for it though, I like to know nothing or as little as possible going into the eps).

Another amazing episode, the writers need some sort of payrise - just so consistent and entertaining.

Absolutely mental cliffhanger though the way the ending scene was filmed it was relatively obvious that something was going to happen. When Lundy's face turned to horror I shat myself a little bit, was expecting to see Anton or Trinity with a knife round to Deb's throat or something or at least marching towards them with a gun, but their refusal to let us see who attacked and perhaps killed them is great telly. I'd love for the attacker to be NOT Trinity though, it would be epic if MARIA did it for example. I echo the theories of several others before me in this thread that Deb will survive, it would be a huge loss to have her killed off as well as Lundy for fuck sake. What it should do however is focus Dexter on Trinity a bit more, he's tailed off slightly concentrating more on the miscellaneous kills and with Lithgow being so incredible as this season's villain I'd love him and Dexter to spar off a bit more.

Trinity making the random guy beat him a bit was weird, maybe he wanted to feel more human or remind himself of what it's like not being in control or something. His subtle baiting was hilarious though - "Cunt!"

I missed Masuka big time, and Quinn needed more screen time but this one was about Dexter getting some alone time and Debbie arsing about with her love life so it's all gravy.

Female cop person Dexter was stalking was terrific, shame we won't be seeing her again.

And I'm with BITS on the previews thing, they're all manipulative bastards anyway with how they tease you with clips.

I think my favorite part of this season so far is how everything is intertwined. Quinn/reporter ties in with Lundy/Anton/Trinity/Deb and now involves Dexter even more. The vacation murderer seems to be on the back burner a bit and I'm hoping they are able to eventually tie it in with everything else as it leaves Angel and Maria on the sidelines.

So...are we doing spoiler tags or not? I'll do them just to be safe. As a note I watched the preview but I'll say my thoughts have nothing to do with what was shown in the preview for next week (which was a poor decision not doing that again)

this episode had two really funny moments, with one being the rape line, and the other when laguerta calls dexter into her office and goes 'i know everything,' and dex's voiceover goes 'i'm going to choose not to misinterpret that...' absolutely hilarious.

Why are people still doing spoiler tags? If people still haven't seen the latest episode they probably won't come in here until they have

With regards to Lithgow baiting the beating, I believe he wanted to feel more human as perhaps he felt like he was too much of a monster (in his twisted logic) so drew a beating the quickest way he could think of, hence not bothering to shout abuse at the couple and instead aiming it at the drunk tough looking guy. It was weird as shit though, he's a brilliantly odd character. I mean why did he even draw attention to himself from Lundy in that plaza? He seemed to touch cloth when he even saw Lundy but just walking past him looking like a regular person would've been fine, purposely walking into him and then acting strange seemed well...strange. Like he enjoys fear/pain.

i'd say a day or so after the first airing should be fine. i know i go into threads without seeing episodes just to get a general take on something without having it spoiled or to continue talking about the last episode. is a spoiler tag really that much of a hassle?

That Trinity is one fucked up fella. Clearly the victims represnt his family when he was a boy, but ending was one of those scenes where as you watch it, all the previous scenes of him flash infront of your eyes as you try and make sense of everything that has happened and try and fit all the pieces together.

Good episode, though I was panicing when dexter pulled out the syringe. I just kept thinking "You havent planned it!". Normally he plans for a week at least before making a kill, watching routine, making sure everything is perfect, following the code. If he really was about to take trinity out, he had no idea who was watching, the routines of the poeple in the street, he knew little to nothing of his victim. Thats bad shit.

I was also a little anxious about the chest, but not too much, it was obvious Rita wouldnt find dexters tools.

Love the scene with her hyperventilating, found it really really believable. If theres something about Jennifer Carpenter, she can act distressed and upset and overly emotional.

That scene crushed me, seeing Deb that upset and beat down was horrible.

I'll keep saying it but this show is one of the best things on TV, it's just so good.

Dexter showing just how upset he is by being so open about going after Trinity is great stuff and that twist at the end, can't wait to see where this goes.

    No comments yet?

Good episode. Arthur is scary as fuck when he goes mental, but I love how Dexter feigns fear when we all know that he could probably snap his neck in a second. He took DOAKES down motherfucker!

Arthurs wife is far too young and hot for him.

I'm glad we are getting back into Harry's CI files with deb, though I was shocked we didnt see Harry this week.

Rita annoys the piss out of me, Dexter really does try he just doesn't know how to be who she wants him to be. Thankfully once he admitted that she lightened up a bit and I thought it was a nice gesture of her to offer him a garden shed for his killing tools and blood slides, especialyl giving him a padlock and both the keys. Though I wonder how sturdy that thing will be in a florida hurricane. We could have bloodslides and bonesaws strewn across their lawn at some point

I do like the fact that Dexter is again using the killer to learn more about himself and how to live his life. It seems the best advice in his life, other than Harry has come from the tongues of killers.

Fully enjoyed this ep but im a bit sad that we're now at the halfway point and will soon have to wait another year for more Dexter.

I want Dexter to sit Rita down and tell her that he's a serial killer that chops up his victims and then dumps them in the ocean. And keeps their blood in his AC.

I have to think that Rita copied a key to that shed. No chance she has decided to just start trusting Dexter. Should be rather interesting if she winds up finding his tools or his trophy's. Outside of that possibility, Rita could die on the next episode and I wouldn't miss her at all.

Lithgow has been perfect on the show. A really nice contrast in polish from Jimmy Smits last year. His theatrical experience really shines through on this show.

they clearly have a path they want to travel, showing the contrast between trinity and dexter as family men, while also showing dexter grow, so they're kind of forcing the tension within the marriage, which is making rita beyond annoying. i'm trying not to hold it against the show, but i'm with GBF in that rita could be killed off and i'd be more psyched than sad.

Trinity/Dexter have great chemistry and this is the best villain since ITK. Also, this had me in stitches:

    Quick question about this show.

Which seasons of the show are based on which books?

Yeah it's pretty much the first season uses bits and pieces of the first book. After that they went their own direction. Although, I would love to see some storylines from the books appear such as...

    Thanks guys.

I'm part way through the first book now and was wondering if I should wait till I'm done with them all before I start with the show.

Loving this season so far. Trinity rattling off personal info to that family at the restaurant was unnerving. The previews for the next episode are always amazing as well.

I was rewatching some older seasons and only on second viewing did I realize Rita's ex-husband Paul is Jacob on Lost.

    I love Lithgow.

    "Shut up Cunt"

He's a fucking maniac. Breaking his sons fingers. The fact that he's not just any overbearing parent, he's a fucking nut job, and most of what we've seen of his family so far has really been just a show for the people. I think I like Lithgow more than I did Smits last season!

There was so much goodness in this episode. The aforementioned dinner scene. Dexter arguing with Harry that he and his family is nothing like that, with it being confirmed by Cody saying he's thankful for Dexter. The swerve ending. Hell, early on this episode I was thinking "shes a little batshit to be honest" and actually had visions of her being like Lila, but DAMN I didnt see that one coming. And I love that his family banded around Arthur when they thought "Kyle" was going to kill him. Its just that kinda shit that pisses me off about domestic abuse, and its so believable that I had to love the way it played out.

Seriously good shit. I could do without Elliot and Rita but I always trust them to take it in the right direction.

i really like the angel/laguerta stuff. it's just sappy and sweet, which is nice to have thrown in there at times with all the heaviness and killing.

Rita: whenever you go off her, just go back to when she dressed up as Lara Croft. She is a minx in the sack in the start of season 3 too... Having said that she is a bit annoying, but I think she serves her purpose on the show.

I would love for Astor to start showing dark tendencies to be explored in a future season, although - despite the show itself being about a serial killer - I dont think the censors/network would appreciate/allow it..
