None of us really know what Wenger's relationship is like with the board and Kroenke. Unless there's something I might have missed, I can believe this could've been a situation where Kroenke's basically telling Wenger "Look, don't listen to anybody else. I'm your boss, and I think you're making me a lot of money. So as far as I'm concerned, you're staying". I'm sure I've said this before but my issue has been with Wenger not walking away from the job, rather than the board not sacking him. The board have reasons to hold onto him, whether Arsenal fans like it or not.
So I don't expect the board to do anything. The decision is on Wenger to announce that he's leaving. If the board were ever going to make the decision to sack him, they wouldn't have given him the last contract extension in the first place.

As if anyone thinks Arsenal fans would sit by graciously if Wenger announced his retirement. They'd briefly put aside their bitterness and then start complaining a replacement hasn't been announced yet.

Well, by the players. Spurs go out of the CL and Arsenal win in Europe, like old times.

I remember when it was us that had to do all sort of logical leaps to convince ourselves we weren't in the shadow of our neighbours.

You should remember it well, being that it was a 20 year plus period

That was a result borne out of Arsenal not being terrible, and Milan being fucking absymal. If they've not lost in the league since December, I think that says a lot about where Serie A is these days.

Still, got a fairly easy run of league games coming up now. No doubt we'll win a couple of these and Wenger will keep his job.

Considering resources, who have Arsenal finished below who they shouldn't have in the last 20 years? Leicester, the 2 times (and that's assuming this season) Spurs have, maybe the Liverpool under Rodgers? I get that the gap has gotten bigger from a performance standpoint, but they haven't actually been underachieving have they? Considering said resources, at no point in the last decade should they have finished above United, City or Chelsea, but that's happened more than they've finished below those with parallel or worse resources.

That resource question goes out the window when in 2015 he chose not to sign a single outfield player during the summer, the only top flight team in Europe not to do so. They finished the season behind Leicester. They have always had the resources to compete, he's just ignored year after year the areas that need to be addressed, with each season being as predictable as the one before. Except he can't even get away with scraping 4th anymore, seeing how there are five better managers with teams above him in the league.

Arsenal spent big on two strikers this season alone. They've definitely got some resources.
