So I bought SSX3 today, the only copy I've seen in Kyiv. I was thniking about buying the PS2 as well, but I though I was going out to a gig as well (that fell through). Of course, now themissus realises you can play DVD's on it, she's well into buying the remote control for DVDs as well Saves me 150 grivnas, although I'll have to shell out 200 for the memory card.
Anyroad, this time tomorrow I should be a happy youngish person.

Anyone in the UK seen the Kingdom Hearts Deep Silver GBA bundle in any shops? It was released on May 6th but none of the 4 GAME shops in my area have even heard it exists.

I just bought a GC and WWE Day of Reckoning today. I had played the game at a buddies for few minutes and liked it, and saw a lot of postive feedback here. It's a good game, but what the hell is Lance Storm doing on there?

The latest Dragon Quest/Warrior game's been confirmed for Europe. A first for the main series of games (DWM was released here and that's about it).

    Can't wait for that one.

    Maybe even FF7?

    Why on the net?

I respect the choice of the emulator, but it's nowhere near the same to me playing an RPG on a PC.

Seek out Grandia - it's nice that you can see the random fight people running around, so you can just run by them if you can't be arsed. That, or run up behind them, leaving you with the first attack.

As an added bonus, the story isn't the usual 'I am a clone coming to terms with being a clone, before i go off to fight a clone blah blah baws.'

    I want them. Both. Now.

I read today that the prices of games on XBox 360 is now looking likely to be $10 more in the US (and, therefore, probably 10 more in the UK. NATURALLY).

This is bullshit. And people are no doubt just going to take it. I'll tell you this much; I'm not going back to paying 50 for a game. (Without "Zelda" on it) Those days are over.

I just really wanted something quick and easy to play on the net really, or the comp without much effort getting it. I'll look into that thanks, where do you reckon?

For anyone that enjoys fighting games - is there a cheaper boss character than Jinpachi from Tekken 5?

He is a bastard - he fires 50% damage fireballs all the time and has a bloody ENERGY DRAIN move - that's just wrong.

Yes grandia is DA BOMB, my friends thought i was mad when i preferred it too ff. The main characters are much funnier and the storyline at time was heart rending. Especially when sue left the party.

also the fact u didnt have constant random battles made it much more fun to play

Omega Rugal from KOF 98 is pretty damn cheap. He'll use his Genocide Cutter ad nauseum, and you'll eat it every time. It overpowers EVERYTHING.

I heard Gill from Street Fighter III is King Bastard of Cheapdom, but I've never put more than a few quarters into that game, so I don't know for sure.

Super Street Fighter II: Turbo pisses me off. The computer is way overpowered (Zangeif grabbing and piledriving you from sweep distance? I thought the point of a hugely damaging move like that is that you had to be really close to pull it off), so you have to rely on cheap tactics to beat each character, and that's if you get lucky. And no dip switch difficulty settings.

Just ordered Shadow Hearts: Covenant from Play for 17 quid. Expecting big things from it after the rave reviews I read.

Plus I need some RPGs to fill the gap between now and FFXII/Zelda/DQVIII/KH2's release.

Despite being anti-nintendo for the past few years, I sucked it up and bought a Gamecube and Metroid Prime. I'm borrowing a few games from my friend (Resident Evil and Zelda: The Wind Waker).

I'm pretty happy with it so far, mainly because I got it used for $60, so I now have access to an entire library of games for just $10 more than a regular PS2 game. I'm waiting to get Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, because I'm sure they'll blow everything else out of the water.

(I figure The Great Dave and Marc K. will be proud of me too )

Wow. Shadow Hearts is class. I regret not getting into the series earlier.

I also bought Shen Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call (Nocturne in the US) as well. That's amazing too, and at the bargain price of 25 brand new.

Yay! Rare finally have a chance to make me love them again. I'm begging them to do something involving a banjo and a kazooie. And not just a remake.

...unless they put the two games on one disk, and get the Stop N Swap shit working. THEN I will accept a remake.

I don't understand how anybody can be anti-Nintendo. I can understand people being apathetic towards them, but really, how can they offend anybody? They're still one of (if not) the best game designers in the world, are pushing an interesting product in the DS and the Gamecube has a shitload of good games and costs next to nothing.

But still, make sure you pick up Donkey Konga, an extra pair of bongos and at least one friend.

I think Rare are one of the few established developers that will take a chance on non-experienced programmers ie graduates.

    Rare.

First place I'll probably apply to.

I was clearing out my room the other day and found 7 or 8 old Dreamcast games, my Dreamcast is busted but I've seen them in Gamestation for about 20 so I think I shall purchase it.

Whats the point in having Virtua Tennis, Sonic Adventure, Chu Chu Rocket, Resident Evil and Uefa Striker without a console.

Virtua Tennis must be played, it is true.

I've been playing GTA:SA recently on PC. Buggiest. Thing. EVER. The mouse randomly decides to stop working when I enter menus, the sound is fucked as hell and the animation is terrible half the time. There's fun to be had in the game, but just like every other GTA game I pretty much ignore the missions. I usually spend half an hour or so going around running from cops, then stop playing. I don't see how this is the defining game of this generation

    Are you experienced?

Or have you ever been experienced?

Virtua Tennis may be the greatest sports game ever made. If you could do a proper best of 5 sets match in it, no-one would need PES.

I used a cheat to get a big fucking helicopter thing to appear out of nothing, so I've pretty much been everywhere. Including that big fuck off area in the middle of the map that's basically a wasteland with nothing of note in it.

Technically, GTA is awesome. Huge world, loads to do. I just don't think it does anything especially well, yet is treated like it's the perfect example of video game bliss. And don't get me started on how many times I've had to hear "nigger". Or, to be more specific, "niGGGGGGGGA!".

    I miss the 80s.

And the less said about the sex mini games the better.

    You not heard?

The PC version, you can get a patch which 'unlocks' explicit sex mini-games.

There's a big issue about whether the code was already in the game, or in the patch. If it was in the game, Rockstar didn't tell the ratings guys and are gonna get it in the shitter.

You can see video clips from it at gametrailers.com

Y'know, if you're into that sort of thing.

Anyone played/got Star Trek: Starfleet Command III? I know its a couple of years old now, but I'm just downloading it now (well I've been downloading it for the best part of 18 fucking hours for some stupid reason). Looks ok.

Thats what I wanted to hear, Reech

I've seen a couple of add-ons that I can download too? Shall I grab them asap or play through the game as it stands, first?

Also, you realise that you are now my first port of call if when I have problems with this....?

To continue with my current n64 splurge, today I bought F1 World Grand Prix and Mischief Makers. Both games hold fond memories.

Yeh its pretty good, although for some reason Jaques Villeneuve isn't registered on the game and is D. Williams and the best driver on the game.

Spent the day trying to complete 1080 though, that game is IMMENSE. One of the best games that I never played when it was first released.

Right chaps, I just got a batch of games from my sister's boyfriend that he was going to bin. But I cna't be bothered trying all of them so I need some advice from you lot as to whether they are worth keeping or whether I should bin them/flog them on ebay.

    I've got....

    Sim City 4
    Thief II,
    Grim Fandango,
    Icewind Dale II,
    Hitman 2,
    Max Payne,
    Warlords Battlecry III,
    Deus Ex,
Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness,
    Half-Life,
    Freelancer

Plus I've got the following games too which won't run on my procesor but if they're any good (KOTOR) I'll keep around for when I get my new pc n a few months time:

    Deus Ex Invisible War,
    Hidden & Dangerous 2,
    Knights of the Old Republic,
    Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield,
    Splinter Cell,
D&D: The Temple of Elemental Evil,
    Sacred,
    Max Payne 2.
    IGI 2: Covert Strike
    Beyond Divinity,
    Gothic II

So, yeah, any of these any good?

Some of them I've never heard of or played, but you may as well play them to see what they're like is what I'm getting at.

Grim Fandango and Sim City 4 are definitely worth keeping. Half Life, Rainbow Six 3 and Splinter Cell I've heard of and assumed were half-decent.

Also, a lady and her 12 (guess) son came into the shop on Wednesday, and bought God Of War.

There is an 18 rated game (BBFC), so, I warned her, as I usually do (most sales assistant don't), that the game is 18 rated and may not be suitable for her son.

She said 'it's fine', and I sold it her.

But, I bet when he uses 2 pieces of chain with kitchen knives on the end and beheads his best friend:

    1. The makers will get blamed first
    2. I'LL get blamed next for 'not doing my job properly'

    I fucking hate people sometimes.

I would think that if, by the time you reach 12 years old, you don't realize that cutting people's heads off with sword-chucks is a bad idea no matter how cool it looks in a video game, you should really be psychologically evaluated.

But you did the right thing pointing it out, nothing more that can be done now, she's had a visual warning on the box and a verbal warning from the staff selling her the game.

    God Of War is immense.

Just in Pandora's Temple just now after killing the massive Mechincal Minotaur.

Do you need the Muse Keys, or do they just unlock a bonus?

    Unlock a bonus.

Get them though, not hard to find, one's one on the cliff, can't remember where the 1st is

Good bonus though, extends your healt/magic and gives you afuckload of XP.

God of War for that one too.

DMC3 is good and cheaper now, (think its 15 in the GAME sale). But God of War is just pure excellence, whilst the difficulty (even on piss easy) of DMC3 put me off it.

Flatout and God of War are two totally different types of games though, surely it shouldn't be too hard to decide between them?

Unless of course you can't decide whether you want a stunt driving/racing game or an action adventure game.

Bear in mind that the computer was in the living room at the time and there was normally someone else in...

I'm not proud of it, and neither are you.

I bought my mate's copy of san Andreas for a fiver earlier. My copy has a tiny scratch on it which causes it to get stuck on one mission on the second city.

I'm well looking forward to getting back into playing it. I'd have a go now but I'm still tired & hungover and I need to be at 100% before I play it so I can fully appreciate it greatness.

WWF No Mercy is Ungodly awesome. I just got done with a sixty-minute Iron-Man match between Kurt Angle and Triple H. I won with the anklelock in the last twenty-eight seconds. Also Chris Jericho and my Juventud Guerrera CAW had a MOTY canidate in about five minutes.

Yes, No Mercy is indeed awesome. Makes me wish I had another N64 controller. I'd give a lot to be able to play 2 player No Mercy again.

*texts friend to lend N64 controller*

Know what else is fucking awesome? Killer 7. It's a shame i've got a job and a girlfriend (...well, not so much a "shame") cos I really wish I could just spend all my time playing it. I'm reluctant to flat out recommend it cos I know a lot of people won't like it, but it's just totally won my heart. Even though I've always been Mr. Gameplay, I can't help but be wowed by the presentation. Not too say the gameplay isn't fun, it's much better that I was expecting, and better than the shitty "FPS-with-bad-camera" rep it seems to have. But stuff like the music, the characters, even the menus are just so intresting and unique.

Killer 7 got obliterated in a review by Gamepro magazine. Although I've heard good things about it from other places. Maybe I'll give it a try.

Wrestlemania 2000< No Mercy- I dug up WM2000 today too and found it slow plodding and horrible. The Only fun I managed to have was recreating ECW:ONS with my old ECW CAWS.

Bonuses of working in GAME, I can always pick it up and take it back.

    To be fair, anyone could.

It really is a love it or hate it game I think. My friend and girlfriend hate it, and both are turned off by the visual style that I love. It's destined to be a cult classic I think. Which unfortunatly means we'll probably see Mega Man X865 before Killer 8. Which is a hell of a shame.

Loving Capcom this gen though. Probably my favourite developer right now, at least if you ignore handhelds. And I haven't even got a PS2, so there's so much of their stuff I look forward to buying when I buy a PS2 next gen. They're literally driving sales of consoles for me.

And yeah, No Mercy is better than WM2000, but WM2000 had the Corporate Ministy's theme in it. So it'll always have a place in my heart.

One of your local video stores should have a disc repair service. Find one that does and get 'er fixed for an additional fiver or so and you're set.

Happened to my SSX 3. 'twas unplayable cuz it'd freeze up halfway down the mountain on any course with the music turned on or off (thought it was the soundtrack, you see.) They fixed it up and I can play happy again.

Been on a bit of a wrestling game kick lately. I had another sixty-minute Iron Man match on WWF No Mercy today. My Bret Hart CAW made Kurt Angle tap like a bitch in the last two minutes winning the match 8 falls to 7.

I also played a little Showdown: Legends of Wrestling for X-Box today. I had a twenty-five minute Match of The Year candidate with Owen Hart and Rick "The Model" Martel. Owen made Rick tap to an armbar takedown.

Randy Savage and Jake Roberts had a hard hitting two out of three falls match. Savage won the first fall with a top rope elbow drop. After an intermitent amount of brawling Snake scored with an inside cradle for three tieing it up 1-1. Savage went ballistic with rights, suplexes and slams. Savage finally manauvered Jake into a double axe handle before another Top Rope Elbow for three.

DDP and Steiner slugged it out. Page went for an inside cradle but Steiner reversed for three.

Mr. Perfect and Sabu struggled to click in a clash of styles. Perfect eventually hit the Perfectplex for three.

Abdullah The Butcher defeated Andre The Giant with six hard chairshots in a hardcore match followed by the splash off the ropes.

    Fun stuff man, fun stuff.

Similarly, I'm on a mass RPG hunt at the moment. Was looking at LOTR: The Third Age earlier. Not a massive Rings fan myself but the battle system looks like a cheap rip-off of Final Fantasy X's, and right now that'll do for me.

It's good for a bit bro.

Just finished Leisure Suit Larry, started on Chronicles of Riddick.

Impressed so far, although I'm stuck, quick trip to Gamefaq's will solve that for me

I bought Breath of Fire 1 on the GBA from some (apparently) reliable seller on eBay. Got it through the post today and from the word go you can see it's the most blatant fake piece of shit you'll ever see. Blurry box scan, typed-up Nintendo logo and seal, no manual, stretched, printed cartridge sticker and about a million typos all over the box.

He's giving me a refund and taking the game back, but he obviously runs some shady business because he danced around the subject of it being snide when I complained. Fucking cunt.

I have about three fake GBA games that I bought unknowingly. Only problem is that one of them doesn't like being put in my DS. Tis very tight. Shitty state of affairs, but you know. A games a game, fake or not.

I make sure not to buy any GBA games from Hong Kong when I go to Ebay. Too much fake stuff.

Actually, I don't think I buy anything from sellers outside the US, since I'm not a Paypal user.

    Just finished Chronicles of Riddick.

Was a good game, had issues with some elements of it, but on the whole it was okay. Probably didn't warrant the high ratings it got though.

Morrowind is next on the 'to complete' list

Right, I'm thinking of getting a game today and have whittled it down to these two...

    Football Manager 2005
    or
    Brian Lara Cricket 2005

I have a feeling that once the Ashes has finished I won't bother playing Brian Lara again but the football season has just started. Which one?
