Okada for champion fuck yeah. NJPW has been dying without Okada as champ and with the pandemic winding down, having Okada on top for crowds again will be awesome.

Really sucks for these big first title wins to happen in front of essentially no crowd. I guess they can’t stay in an indefinite holding pattern forever until the pandemic ends there but it’s still unfortunate. I still have zero interest in watching new Japan until crowds can make noise again

To be fair it's not like they wanted to vacate the title. I imagine this wasn't the plan but I could be wrong. They definitely took the title off Ibushi too soon but shit maybe he was hurt too I don't know.
Yeah, if it wasn't an injury or some weird backstage issues or something, taking it off Ibushi so soon seemed silly.
It just feels weird that a company that has held those kinds of stats highly prestigious has had 3 new champions in the span of like, what...4 or 5 months? And one was a gaijin to top it off.
They've passed the title around quite a bit it seems in the last 2 years. Okada was really the only one to get a reign longer than 5-6 months in the last 5 years or so.
In a perfect world Ibushi would still be champion. Establish the new world title and then take it off him. Again, I don't think they planned on having 3 champions already, pretty much out of their control.
