Good to see whatever was going on with Styles subsided enough for him to be back on TV. I really think they’re spinning their wheels with RK-Bro. They just need to find something to get them through the next 4-6 weeks to cruise control to the Rumble.
Pearce talking like the bragging rights matter for Survivor Series was rich and also pointless because it means nothing because he runs both shows lol. I guess Lashley was a bit hobble from the Saudi show but was good enough to come back here. Honestly, he makes more sense for the team than Dominik so no real problem with the switch.
My suspicions last week seem to be validated as Gable was once again given a spotlight match (this time against E), and lost again, while Bálor was nowhere to be found on this three-hour episode. Gable looked good, again, but I’m not sure why I’m supposed to believe this push is going to be different for him.
The 24/7 stuff isn’t on TV a lot but it’s taking up too much TV time for the subject matter. You know it’s rough when Graves and Saxton win and pass the championship off within the segment back to Reginald.
At least Liv won a match to propel herself to championship contender status with Becky. The whole ideal of her jobbing to Carmella and then sliding up to face Becky makes sense only in WWE but no one with a brain would take that as logical profession. I guess you killed two birds with one stone by having Liv pin Carmella in this match. The bits between Rhea and Bianca were fun and harkened back to their Takeover match in Portland a while back. These champion versus champion matches at Survivor Series see a curveball thrown every once in a while before the actually PPV and this weirdly seems like a situation where we could get that. In this case, it’d allow them to book much more easier because it’s easier to have Liv take and L to Charlotte than Becky or just creating a stupid finish.
Speaking of somewhat stupid finishes, a count out finish between Owens and Rollins in your main event is certainly stupid. At least the twists and turns in terms of motivations is somewhat intriguing. They’re putting effort into the idea that Owens really is trying to prove himself to have turned a new leaf, Rollins is instigating the opposite perspective, and E is essentially in DTA mode. Owens justifiably was ticked at E after last week and continued advances of seeking an apology being rebuffed. This isn’t Bloodline drama good, but it’s certainly better for Raw standards.
Balor is on the SD leg of the UK tour, I am seeing him tonight In Nottingham. I think he's been added as Roman won't be there so they are giving us Finn, A NXT title match and Walter vs Cesaro
Even as a huge Liv mark I thought she really showed out tonight in the ring, climbing on the announce table afterwards to confront Becky was a nice touch. Morgan seemed a lot more fluid than the other women, who still were telegraphing their spots during the action. FWIW, Liv doesn’t even need to win the title, not yet anyways; give her a 12+ minute competitive match, maybe Becky has to resort to heel tactics to win (DQ?). It won’t take much to establish Morgan as a viable top babyface; some competitive matches against the champ, a couple Ws against the lower card women. Hopefully the endgame is a Rumble victory and title win at Mania.

Big E on his own is really growing on me. Still miss him paired with King & Sir.
I've never been high on New Day but I can respect what they've accomplished. I've just always seen Big E as a serious threat to any championship. I saw him as a guy who when he was having that original IC title run, that he could've transitioned into the World title picture. I remember him calling out Ambrose saying they should have a US-IC title unification match at Mania (I think it was 30). Ever since then I've just been waiting for his chance.
I think people can accept a guy like Big E because we accepted guys like Mankind. We accepted Alliance Austin more than we wanted in 2001 simply because he had some really funny moments. Big E can be over the top but I haven't really seen that since he started riding the solo wave. Ever since that street fight match with Sheamus, I feel like he's really sold us on how much of a real threat he can be.
I thought the last title run on SD was going to turn into a Rumble win and Mania win over Reigns. Since then, I'm in the thought of "champ forever" with Reigns. Only real credible challenger is Drew and I imagine they hold off on that until Rumble, or Mania.
If not Drew, I hoped we would've had AJ & Omos on Smackdown for AJ challenging for the title and winning, just for the visual of Roman trying to Superman punch Omos off his feet and repeatedly failing.
Roman right now is in the same position Hulk Hogan was in 1996-1997. You could probably take the title off of him for a week or two and then put it right back around his waist. Kind of like they did with Luger, but even then it was kind of a waste and I hear it was simply because Bischoff didn't want anyone with a full year as champion on his watch....
That's a big difference between Roman Reigns and every other "world" champion out there. Everyone else is expendable. Everyone else has 5-10 others that could slide in that spot and do just as good if not better. But Roman.....Honestly I'd have to go back to maybe the late 80's because I can't tell you the last time a guy that was in Roman's spot was so untouchable, firing on all cylinders and delivering each time out. Someone who is just so far above everyone that you have to literally force feed a scenario that makes a tiny bit of sense for Roman not to be the man.
And to think just 2 years ago he was still ultra cringe, working with Corbin.....weak.
And honestly, if you wanted to “freshen things up” by temporarily taking the strap off Roman, you book him in a Triple Threat/Fatal Fourway and make sure he isn’t involved in the decision. You get a new champ, Reigns keeps his heat and also gets a redhot feud.

And for years we've heard about how WWE slacked off on Survivor Series, not too long ago they were going to eliminate it from the calendar (I think it was after the DX v. John Cena ppv did a shit number). I haven't really felt it was that great since I was a kid in the late 80's early early 90's. I prefer the traditional SS matches as opposed to what we've seen for damn near 20+ years.

Sheamus has had some of his best matches of his career in the past year and a half. While he probably won't be contending for many more title shots, he still has a lot left to offer before he's put on a legends deal.

I also don't think I've moved on from the fact that the Riot Squad's debut was bad timing. Absolution debuts, then the next night Riot Squad comes out and it's like the Wish.com version of Absolution lol. You got the punk rock looking leader, the hot blonde, and the "Muscle".
Then fast forward and that whole weird bisexual angle with Lana.....Again, give her the push they're going to turn on her. Nobody wants to see Liv Morgan as champion anymore than they wanted to see NUKKY CRUST as champion.
I just don't think she's ever been in a big enough program that has so badly flaunted her weaknesses. The Lana thing put her in the spotlight but that storyline was already an evolving piece of shit for everyone so it kinda made sense she would just stay at the shit level there anyways.
Riot Squad was on for me but again you had a group for her to kind of feed of with and not put all the focus on her. I mean we've now seen Sonja is probably the most capable of the group since Ruby, I don't think, really lived up to her hype in aew when she was in full control.
Also not a fan of both brands having a personally grudge against their talent. Sonya vs Naomi was fine but why in the fuck would Adam go picking a fight with the mysterios when brock could technically show up and chuck him through the arena like a piece of meat. You'd think he'd want all the friends he can get.
This smells like the writers are completely scared of Vince, and want to copy whatever he okayed recently.
Having Sonya and Adam both have some level control over both shows doesn't make sense, and never did. When it started we were left wondering if it was going somewhere, as maybe we might get disagreements over which talent gets a match, the draft choices or something - there was potential. And Both Sonya and Adam can more than handle themselves on the mic.
at a bare minimum, survivor series should have had some temporary conflict between them between brands.

I want every match on the card to be 4 on 4 or 5 on 5 matches. All Raw vs. Smackdown. And then the survivors of each match face each other in a final elimination match, like they did in 1990.
They have a big enough roster to do it, enough bodies. 3 women's matches and 3 men's matches, and then 2 final matches.
I've soured on Survivor Series ever since we didn't get Mahal vs. Lesnar.
...and lo and behold, it is Sheamus.
I actually like how they played things out between Bianca and Doudrop. They could be burning through matches between the two of them right away but they're finally showing some restraint and taking their time. You've got bodies to utilize, so it's good to have either Doudrop or, in this case, Bianca build some equity with a win in a match with someone else. Bianca probably provided one of the more entertaining singles matchups I've seen from Tamina in quite some time, and Bianca showed that impressive strength with the KOD finish.
Becky had a very good promo. She had the ride the wave of going back to having a plucky babyface promo when she was talking about Charlotte, then she quickly shifted gears back to being smug when Liv came out. That was a nice callback to Talking Smack where Liv talked about Becky when Becky departed. That is an asset that WWE doesn't use enough but it goes a long way to help build layers to a story. You know it's getting serious between the ladies when someone calls someone else a bitch.
Matches between Street Profits and Alpha Academy generally provide low-key absurd athleticism and power between all four guys.
Not surprised that they had singles matchups for Nikki and Rhea, and Nikki lost her match and Rhea won hers lol. At least it served a small sense of purpose with Nikki losing so Zelina actually keeps her momentum with another win.
Bálor/Owens was good for what it was. Just a sign of the disorganization that they referenced there was a match that was there (Bálor/Rollins) that was going to be good but cold and they provided another one with the exact same setup. That and the idea of Doudrop being in the graphic for the match between Bianca and Tamina just goes to show that this thing is being booked by the seat of its pants. Back to the match, I can't imagine the fact that Owens' story is that no one trusts him and he's now turning into a douche doesn't bode well for his future. Yes, he's in the midst of a championship story but he's probably the third most important person in a two-person story. And then there's the guy who actually lost: Bálor lol. He's even lower on the totem pole. Yikes.
Styles & Omos vs. Roodolph provided the absolute bare minimum in terms of in-ring interaction between Styles and Ziggler, so that's a big negative for me.
Lashley vs. Mysterio just being passed through as a flimsy transitional match is definitely a waste lol. I guess the positive is the fact it closed the show...? What an emphatic kick out by Lashley to the 619 and Dropping the Dime. Sheesh. That was cool. Theory getting the nod for "injured" Mysterio gives Theory a good rub. Definitely the potential for him to have a spotlight moment or two. That said, the stuff with Pearce is really stupid.
Since I picked that before Smackdown, I am on a roll. Hopefully it will carry through to the PPV predictions...and lo and behold, it is Sheamus.

Riddle sporting the Orton-like facial hair was pretty silly. Funny to play off the fact that Orton had been instilling in him that he had to listen to him and be more like him so they could have continued success. Riddle and Ziggler were given a pretty good amount of time and they had a nice match. Good see Riddle hit the RKO and then Orton hitting the Bro Derek after the fact on Roode. After a few weeks of stalling out, RK-Bro got some mojo back.
Becky railing on the audience for their lack of decorum during the Women's Survivor Series Match was a nice surprise, but then she went ahead and spun it to being fitting because none of the ladies in the match are on her level. They seem to be going the Cesaro route with Liv, not presenting a sense of confidence in giving Liv a lot of time on the mic to cook. Becky seems to be doing the heavy lifting when they go back and forth with promos. Becky keeps laying it on thick with the fact that Liv is a disappointment and Liv keeps stepping up with anger and physicality. This will be a big spot for Liv when they actually have the match.
Works against the character but the crowd does seem to be getting into Rollins' theme and participating. It certainly helps that he hams it up during the entrance. They scheduled to have the match between Rollins and Bálor last week but didn't do it and pretty much ran that back this week lol. That was a pretty dominant beatdown by Rollins, though. I guess Bálor and Rollins will get a proper showdown after Rollins is done with E. Of course, his lady called out the crowd and some idiot wanted to go for retaliation by jumping the rail and going after Rollins. So dumb. I hope it was worth it for that idiot.
The idea of more stuff between Ford and Styles would be really dope. Ford gets the shine in the tag team, obviously, but Dawkins has done a really nice job over the last several months as he's developed more into a more well-rounded performer. That's really helped keep them sharp as a team, even though the division stinks.
Speaking of stinking, that tag title reign for Super Brutality really ended with a whimper. It's not like they floated between both shows very often and they really didn't do much with the gold. Carmella and Zelina are probably going to go between shows quite more and be grating whenever they are on TV. As for Rhea and Nikki, they could break up and feud or just float into oblivion.
Dana Brooke wins the 24/7 championship. Meh.
Pretty emphatic that Lashley was able to beat The Mysterios in a handicap match. Bodes well for the trajectory of Lashley, and seems like we're inching closer to The Mysterios splitting up.
Zayn continues to be a big bright spot whenever he's on TV. His hit rate is really phenomenal, considering how bad talking segments can be on WWE programming. The interactions he had with McMahon were really good. Then, of course, he delivers a good match as he answered the open challenge Priest laid out. I seriously thought they were going to drop the stuff with Crews and Priest but they at least kept that going to build back up for the next week or so.
Big trial balloon evening for Theory. He got to be the reveal for the egg mystery and then earned himself some promo time with McMahon, promo time on his own, and the main event with a championship match against E. At 24 years old, as long as he keeps his head on straight, he's going to be set up for success in WWE. I said he's on a path to be a mid card champion by Summerslam and that still seems to be in the line of sight, if he's earning main event matches less than two months of being called up again. He harkened back to his himbo character by totally losing sight of the big picture by being distracted by KO and Rollins bickering on the outside lol. E will continue with Rollins and KO, but now I'm curious to see where Theory goes from here.
Bianca gets the win for Team RAW at SS while Carmella and Zelina got eliminated and are now tag champs. I feel like Bianca got the short end of the straw.

I'm wondering, what if they actually do have Liv win the title? I mean, you've had Nikki as the champion (and I liked non-Ash Nikki), so it's not unheard of and they've had worse. I mean, they had Zelina literally lose for a year and now she's apparently a win-magnet. It would only seem logical if all of Becky's bullying and hypocrisy leads to her losing the title against a pretty popular babyface. I know there's the idea of Liv can "look good in defeat", but I don't think that would work here. Becky, at this point, can lose a title and get it back whenever wanted, so why not run with Liv for a month? Becky says "that's cute, now give me a match to get my title back". To which Liv circles back to what Becky has said before: back of the line, bitch. Then you have Becky actually do that, but she cheats her way to a title shot over a few weeks. Tries to do that to Liv, but she's savvy to that now, and it doesn't work. She gets a successful defense under her belt. Stuff happens (maybe at Day One) and there is another title match. This time, Becky manages to cheat it off her. By the time the Rumble comes around, you have Liv be in the final four along with Rhea, Bianca, and Shotzi and you can logically run with any of those four as the winner.
Plus, they can start stat padding Becky's title reigns in a more logical fashion. I mean, I'm surprised they didn't have Becky steamroll up on Dana Brooke during that interview segment, take the 24/7 title and say "oh look. I got two belts again. LOLOLOLOL!"
Also, reading the Chavo twitter...what the hell, man. From what I saw from the various angles and such posted now, the refs pretty much saved that guy's life. Seth had a pretty tight choke on that guy. And this is after getting blindsided and still managing to take steps to not get bowled over when hit. Had that first ref not knocked that guy off in that position, Seth could have, righteously, killed that guy. So I wouldn't say Seth ain't tough. As justified as they would be in doing so, the days of a HHH and Mike Chioda curb stomping a guy into oblivion just wouldn't fly. Subdue and remove. But, truth be told, Seth showed much more restraint than I would have in that situation, as I certainly would have kicked that fool in every exposed part I could see at that moment.
