Between 4 and 8 will make it, who you got?
I would like to see Seymour in.

    Hester for sure.

    DeMarcus Ware also for sure.

I'm torn on the Johnson vs Holt vs Wayne grouping. They are all similar to me. I'm not sure how to rank them and I'm not sure if I want them all in. I probably would put Wayne third in this group even though he has the most career yards of the three. If they all get in, that's fine, but I'll be hoping Holt gets in before Wayne.

The reckless lack of self-awareness is genuinely mind-boggling..

Antonio Brown shares bold criticism of Tom Brady after Bucs release

"To me, a friend is someone who’s got your back,” Brown said during an appearance on the "Full Send Podcast." "Not everybody in sports is going to be your friend. Tom Brady’s my friend why? Because I’m a good football player. He needs me to play football. People have different meanings of what friendship is."

"Brady is the general manager," Brown said. "He’s the guy my agent made the contract with, he’s the middleman and politician.

"... If Tom Brady is my boy, why am I playing for an earnest salary? You're my boy though right? Gronkowski's his boy, right? How much did he get paid? So why is AB on a prove-it deal? Who's better than me over there? Let's be real."

"Brady can't do s--- by himself," Brown said. "But you guys are going to make it seem like he's just this heroic guy. We're all humans, bro. We're all dependent on somebody else to do the job.

" ... You can’t really expect anyone to be your friend in the business of football. In the business of football, our business is winning. Brady and I like winning. We have that in common. That’s what makes me want to be around him, makes us jell, makes us great."

Potentially worth it to coerce Denver in thinking Lock is the answer.

I think I preferred the Chiefs winning last night - if they'd dropped to 4th seed I'd want to avoid them if at all possible until the Championship game. I think the Pats and Vegas have the lowest ceiling of the 8 AFC teams that are in the playoff picture so I'd have the Chiefs beating the Pats quite comfortably then playing the Titans. This way, the Chargers (who I fancy for 7th seed) will give them a game, then either the Bengals or Bills if they get through that, 2 teams who beat them this year. Even if they got through that, the Titans on a bye followed by the Colts, Bills or Patriots, I'd give a good chance over a well tested, more tired Chiefs.

The Rams have a big reason to go all out to beat the Niners. The Saints would be a weak wild card team and you have home field against Tampa, Arizona or Dallas. Eagles and Saints are both weak playoff teams so I'm fairly sure it'll be Rams vs. Tampa Bay. I think for the interest of competition it's best if the Niners win tonight as they have more Super Bowl potential than teams that have had the benefit of playing the Giants, WFT, Panthers and Falcons twice a year.

Easily. 1 seed with the 3 best skill players out for a significant portion of the season and injuries all across the board. We're starting to look ominous too.

What in the fuck has gotten into the Jags?!

Would piss if the Chargers and Raiders do tie later. Fun game now it's a guaranteed lose and go home.

Much rather see the Colts and Chargers in over the Steelers and Raiders but oh well.

Big Ben is being set up to be destroyed in his final game. Bengals and Raiders could be a very wacky game. Crosby could be a wrecker for that Cincy OL, but there could be an emotional letdown for the Raiders. Bills/Patriots III is anyone’s game.

Producers dream for Dallas and SF. So much classic B-Roll will be used there. Eagles have to hope they can run the ball down the throat of the Bucs. That’s their only chance to pull off the upset. Not a clue what to make of the Monday game because the Cards are limping in and Stafford is hard to trust right now.

    AFC winners: Chiefs, Bills, Bengals
    NFC winners: Bucs, Rams, Niners

Imagine a world with a Bills-Bengals AFC title game. That’s some legit end-of-days shit right there, innit?

For real, if my Niners can’t win it, I’d be fine with Aaron Donald finally getting a ‘ship. Fuck the Bucs (Brady), Packers (Rodgers) and Cowboys (Jerry Jones); the Chiefs already got theirs.

Loved the Raiders kind of lulling the Chargers into thinking the tie was on. The Chiefs put 40 on them twice, 3 minutes left and 10 yards from field goal range to avoid that and the time flew off the clock. That convert after the time out was massive. They played the possession intelligently, bled the clock because a tie would do, but were aggressive in the actual plays.

I only really give the Niners and Cardinals a chance as wild card teams. AFC home teams should all be -300 minimum. Chiefs surely one of the bigger favourites in recent playoff memory, they only lost to the other division winners in the last 3 months and the Steelers have fallen over the line playing broken teams on the stretch and the Colts capitulating.

Regardless of the MVP discussion (though he would have my vote), Tom Brady putting up 5,316 yards and 43 TDs at age 44, both leading the league, is tremendous. The guy is 44 and he's widening the gap in his all-time records against the young bucks who might one day seek to catch him. Third most passing yards in a single season ever (granted, with the luxury of 17 games).

Mike Evans also got over the 1,000 yard hump for the 8th straight year, with 14 TDs to boot. I think he will have a place in the hall of fame when all is said and done.

I would have rather seen the Chargers in the playoffs than the Steelers just for the sake of them being the more exciting team, but I was happy it didn't end in a tie. I don't mind NFL ties in general, but in this odd scenario where neither team needed to win, I was happy they didn't just drag it out towards a lame ending. Good for the Raiders for playing for the W. I don't think the Staley timeout in OT was as bad as people are making it out to be - he called it with almost no time left on the play clock. So that has been overblown, I'd say.

Too bad the Chargers are out but they really should have beaten the Texans in week 16, or beaten the Raiders here. Losing 2 of their last 3 to miss the playoffs - no one to blame but themselves.

The Steelers are not a flashy team but it will be fun to see Big Ben get a playoff game in his final year. Hopefully they don't get blown out by the Chiefs but either way I'll continue to enjoy the farewell tour.

I am finding it hard to figure out the Patriots. They have three wins over teams that made the playoffs - Tennessee, Buffalo, and the Eagles. Since they split with Buffalo and most recently lost, and their win came in an ungodly weather game, it is hard to feel confident. The Tennessee win was against a very different Titans team, and Philly stinks.

The Patriots are a solid, well rounded team. I don't have high expectations for them in terms of making a Super Bowl run. They are rightful underdogs against the Bills, but they could certainly pull off the upset. Even though they made a solid comeback effort yesterday after a lot of flukey plays left them in a big hole, they aren't well designed to make big comebacks due to their rookie QB and sub-par WR corp. They need to start out strong so they can run to set up the pass.

Should be a fun game Saturday night. The loss of Christian Barmore is significant for the Pats defense, but it's not devastating.

True, I find appeal in the narrative of a sure-fire HOF quarterback ending his 18 year era in the playoffs. Knowing that a loss will be his end. It has been cool to see him win these last 2 games to earn the playoff spot, even if his play isn't very good right now.

As I said I would have picked the Chargers to be in over them if I had my druthers, but I can still find the appeal of this run.

Outside of fluky scenarios, one question to determine the winner:

Can Cincinnati contain the defensive line for Las Vegas? If no, I don't feel good about their chances of winning.
Can Josh Allen dictate the flow of the offense successfully? If no, I don't feel good about his team's chances of winning.
Can Philly hold Tampa to field goals? If no, I don't feel good about their chances of winning.
Can Jimmy G pass the ball accurately? If no, I don't feel good about his team's chances of winning.
Can Big Ben have the game of his life? If no, I don't feel good about his team's chances of winning.
Can Kliff Kingsbury coach them up this week and keep the team's poise? If no, I don't feel good about his team's chances of winning.

I've got the Niners and maybe the Cardinals as road winners. The Patriots and Raiders will keep it close enough but lose by double digits in the end. Steelers and Eagles get demolished. I would love an AFC upset though, a couple of revenge games for the Titans in there.

For divisional weekend, Chiefs vs. Bills, Titans vs. Bengals, Packers vs. Niners and Bucs vs. Cardinals. Going Bills, Titans, Niners and Cardinals because why not. Titans vs. Niners Super Bowl with 25 combined passes and Derrick Henry running for 300 yards and 4 scores for the win.

Alright so just to sum up the postseason challenges we have going:

    1. Knee's playoff fantasy game. This one only requires you to set your lineup by kickoff tomorrow, then there is nothing else needed because your roster stays the same the whole playoffs (so you are partially betting on what teams you think will advance). Easy to enter. Set it and forget it. Join!

    https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=155029

    2. Rancid Planet's season long prediction contest is still going. If you aren't already in this, no need to join now since it has been going all year.

    https://forums.rajah.com/showthread.php?t=154952

    3. The ESPN playoff pick em game, which is similar to RP's prediction contest (picking weekly winners and props), but it is all managed within ESPN and is a fresh start for the playoffs. Join!

I wouldn't write them off, they're built for the fourth quarter so if they can get into that quarter max 11 points down they're in the game. It starts getting very mental in the playoffs, Burrow is ice cool but if the play calling gets tentative defending a lead there could be trouble. I really like us against either team though.

Too many drops, too many mistakes by LV. Cincy just played a cleaner game. Period.

They'll blame that on not having a "real" head coach.

I have New England in a couple teasers at +11 and a bet on the Under as well. Let's go.

Good win for Cincy. Vegas just didn’t have enough juice defensively. Laughable circumstance with the officiating and the inadvertent whistle and a terrible coverup attempt by the league.

Josh Allen has hit God mode early in the postseason. He absolutely destroyed and emasculated the Patriots D.

Buffalo became the first team in league history to go an entire game not punting the ball, kicking a field goal, or having a turnover.

The narrative for a while was that Bill had really gotten the Pats back on their feet. But after the last 4 or 5 games and today I'd look for that narrative to change.

It feels like the NFL figured out what they were doing and adjusted and the Pats never adjusted back.

I think that’s a bit harsh. They just got throttled by a very good team and weren’t ready. Bad time to have a bad game. Before this, Jones probably just hit the wall and it was bad timing for that. They’ll be okay. This was a good learning experience for Jones. They desperately need a game changing weapon on the outside to keep defenses honest. If he actually hits the trade market, I imagine they’ll be in on Calvin Ridley. On the other side, defense is usually something you don’t have to worry about with them, so I won’t lol.

I don't mean to be harsh but the season just ended badly for them.

A 33-24 loss to Miami when they were really trying. That 27-17 loss to the Colts when all 17 came in the 4th quarter garbage period. The previous loss to the Bills. This was all in the last month or so.

Yeah the Bills were a steam roller today but the Patriots are going to have to take a long hard look and figure out what they need to do to get better. Because the Bills aren't going anywhere.

They should consider themselves lucky that Miami has NO idea what they're doing so all they have to contend with is Buffalo.

Now don't get me wrong. I believe they've come a long way. But there was a notion at the mid point of the season that they were all the way back and they just aren't. They're going to need a couple more pieces. And Mac is going to need to continue to develop but I fully think he will. Love the kid.

The penalties were killer, would have liked to see them use Josh Jacobs more. I hope Bisaccia gets the interim tag removed.

Cincinnati is fun to watch, think they have a real good shot in Tennessee.

A couple decades of pent-up frustration expelled in that beatdown of New England, Buffalo at KC will be a great one.

Praying for KC to beat the Bills. The Bills are scarry right now and the Titans have had KC's number several times recently.

    Not looking past Cincy though.

    And another absolute ass stomping.

I actually heard multiple people either taking the Eagles and the points or just flat out picking the Eagles and it's like, have we not seen this story before? Tom Brady and his team with something to prove rallying around each other?

AB walked out and turned the Bucs into a monster at the same time. Not to mention they have a veteran laden defense and we've also seen this before. These guys have been waiting until it really matters to start giving their best effort. Well it matters now and they just turned it on.

Also it's currently 31-7 with 9 mins to go.

Why the fuck is Brady still in there?

I think we all know the Cowboys are in trouble here but I feel like they can win this game. And as crazy as it sounds, their defense is what they hang their hat on, I think its going to need to be a shootout. I feel like Ceedee is going to have a big day. Pollard needs to be able to run with explosiveness as well.

But there will be no stopping Deebo today.

I'm gonna pick the Boys. 38-35

They didn't deserve one second after that stupid play. Put the ball in the air and getting intercepted would have been way more acceptable.

Cowboy fans and haters alike are going to have ample show material for the foreseeable future. Not the refs fault there.

Think Tampa dodged some injury bullets to a severe or crippling degree, but it’s quite clear that the injury luck they had last season isn’t going to be there this time around. As for Philly, they proved to be a great argument for not having a 7th team in the playoffs. They’ve got a lot of work to do, likely doubling down on Hurts or making a tough decision and series of a moves to go away from that (which seems unlikely).

Dallas shot themselves in the foot over and over with those penalties. Their OL was terrible too. I actually didn’t hate the play at the end but Dak clearly overshot the distance to run. He ran 20 and only needed to go 10-15 to ensure they had one more shot. As for the Niners, their scheme ruled the day, but Jimmy is still not a QB I would trust in this scenario. They’ve given the Packers fits over recent seasons, but it’ll be a challenge to do that as Green Bay is getting healthier.

KC teased the hell out of Pittsburgh in that first quarter. Roethlisberger mercifully rides into the sunset. They’ve got a lot of work to do and if they don’t get a big fish, they likely waste the peak defense they’ve established here as of late. It’s wild to me that KC drafted CEH in the first round last season and we’ve now seen three running backs who can show at the very least the same juice as him. At least two of them appear to be more dynamic in the passing game and the staff wants to use them more as pass catchers. Buffalo versus KC should be a really fun one.

The NFL did it for the money, but having a seventh playoff team isn’t paying dividends early on.

I feel there’s a real nice young nucleus at the Philly offensive skill positions that deserve another full season. Hurts in his first year as a starter was actually pretty good, a full off-season as the guy can only help. Surely there are more pressing needs on the roster.

Would love to see Trey Lance get some game reps at Lambeau, as a curveball for the Packer defense. War the Trey Lance era beginning in August. What do you suppose the Jimmy G trade market looks like?

Speaking of Jimmy G, Mike Tomlin needs to go full-salesman mode on the top QBs on the market. Go heavy on the OL rebuild in the draft/free agency, hope you can land a Russ Wilson/Aaron Rodgers.

If I’m a skill player in free agency, I beg Andy Reid for a 1-2 year deal at the veteran minimum and cash out after balling out. So many periphery skill players on that roster who benefit from the fact that not even double teams can stop Kelce/Hill.

And yes, this NFL cash grab is stupid. A 16 game season and 6 playoff teams next year please.

Being a 5'9 QB in the NFL is pretty much like throwing a football in a forest when 6'5 monsters are surrounding you. I just wonder if this is the fullest potential we will ever see out of Murry and Kingsbury.

All of the home teams won…minus Dallas.

That wasn’t pretty at all. Murray had no momentum at all and that offense was a slog. Arizona’s defense was subpar from the jump and that was inevitable doom. Major props to Watt and Akers making the comebacks they did. Quite remarkable. Cardinals have a lot of questions to answer going forward. Kingsbury’s extension doesn’t sound so promising now.

Tampa hosts LA, and I don’t think that’s a good matchup for the home team. I could very easily see a path where the Rams take that one.

Green Bay and LA would be a fun matchup over last year's rematch with Tampa. I just want Brady out of the playoffs for once and let someone else hoist the damn trophy for once.

The AFC is currently wide open for me. I love all four teams and would love to see any of them win it all. Buffalo and Green Bay would be the funniest just for the fact that it's the two smallest and coldest TV markets.

Very disappointed in Kyler's performance here. He was just way off tonight and he was going to need to be on fire.

Well shitty Wildcard Weekend out of the way, this weekend's games are going to be fucking great. Right?

I think we’re only getting two entertaining ones, one in each conference.

The Burrow Show versus the return of King Henry sounds like it could entertain.

Our defense is going to need to show up. With or without Henry it's not like the Titans ever want to get into a passing game contest with Burrow. But even if it does become a bit of an offensive showcase I feel like we can hang.

Just not in a 42-38 type game. That won't work.

If I were Jerry Jones I'd fire my head coach and promote Dan Quinn as it may be the only way to keep him on staff and he was the difference maker this season. And I don't think Mike knows what's going on. At all.

Also on the Dan Quinn note. Imagine the Broncos with Quinn at head coach and Jimmy G at qb.

If I were Jones, I’d trade a first and get Sean Payton and be done with it. I can find another coordinator for DC like Zimmer or someone. Since it was under that if I were Jones premise, I’d just swallow my pride and get a damn adult as the HC and let them do their job.

I will imagine that Broncos scenario and I don’t see it as that much better than where they are at. I don’t think Garoppolo is that good of a QB.

If anybody replaces McCarthy in Dallas, it’s Kellen Moore getting promoted to the big office.

So, rewinding a bit here, but the Patriots got demolished. A few season-closing thoughts:

-Overall, going 10-8 this year is not awful, despite the blowout. People overrated the Patriots during their 7-game win streak and started putting them outrageously high on their power rankings, but I never believed this team was a super bowl contender this year. Still, it doesn’t excuse the embarrassing playoff loss, but now people will similarly overreact. But we will be okay. Mainly because…

-Mac looks like the guy. He played 18 games and stayed healthy.... that alone is an underrated feat. This wasn’t a burst out rookie season in the likes of Herbert or Dak, but it was promising. If you theoretically added a WR1 like Calvin Ridley to the mix, I think Mac can take a big next step. The Bills went out and got Diggs. Now it’s our turn. We don’t have Brady anymore so we can’t make a sub par receiving corp work. Cannot run it back with these guys even tho Bourne and Meyers are solid. Need a WR1.

-Although the good feeling didn’t last long, Mac also had some awesome third down conversions on his first ever playoff drive. I see the glimpses. I believe.

-Cannot deny that the Bills are our daddy for now. And worse yet, I friggin love Josh Allen. He’s my favorite non-Pat non-Brady QB in the league. Really wish he was in the NFC and not my division. Amazing player. I’m rooting Bills over Chiefs and it’s the most hyped game of the next round IMO.

Mac is absolutely the guy. Turning the shitshow that was the Pats 2020 season into a contender in 2021 was an amazing thing. He was a big part of that.

All 8 of the remaining playoff teams have at least 1 star WR1. The Patriots need it. If only we could draft one, that would be great, but we suck at that. We can draft possession receivers who fit into our system but not studs.

So when it comes to the Calvin Ridley sweepstakes, I think Belichick will be a major suitor. Plus we know he and Saban are boys and that's another Bama player. It feels right. The market for him will be strong, though, and I still don't know what's up with his mental health situation, but I can see it happening. A guy can dream.

The Patriots got thumped by the better team, but I don't think they are really that far behind the Bills. Every team has injuries and they have to play with whoever they have available. But losing two of their secondary players in Mills and Wade to Covid protocol made it easier for Allen and the Bills to pick them apart. I still think the Bills probably would have won had they both been able to play, but I think the result would have been closer.

The other reason for hope for Patriots fans about the Bills is that once this season is over, it is likely that one or both of the Bills coordinators will move on elsewhere.

I think Mac was good enough at QB and he has adopted the Patriot Way - but it became clear throughout the year that he will benefit from having a true #1 receiver. I hope they can get someone for him.

I can see the 49ers getting a win. It's going to involve slowing the game down and playing outstanding defense but it wouldn't blow me away. They're a hot team. Hot teams can do amazing shit. And Jimmy G is playing very well these last 8 weeks or so.

As a Niners fan, I think we have a shot; that would require Jimmy G to not only play perfect but also win the game late in the 4th/OT.

Aaron Rodgers, at Lambeau in January, this close to a second ring, ultimately proves to be too much for San Fran.

I’m calling it now, if Green Bay wins the Super Bowl in February, Rodgers retires on top, potentially during the postgame broadcast. “Now I’m done…”

So what's your thinking on the Bengals winning? I'm just assuming they can't get a pass rush and the Titans can which means they're pretty much fucked.
