What's weird is I had no idea Home Alone came out in 90 because I probably didn't see it or I guess the 2nd one until maybe 96. I didn't hate the 3rd one and it's weird that it has a young Scarjo in it but it was strange not to have Macaulay in it.
I feel like I know one of them but I don't really have a good idea on the other. I seriously doubt the top of my list made it but I knew that was going to happen.

Would've thought for sure Groundhog Day would be top 20, now not so sure.

Other one I've no good idea.

That is my thought too. Feels like Groundhog has to be there considering all the other movies listed.

I also expected Dumb and Dumber to be on the list but not in the top 2 so I don't know…

We haven't listed 7 out of my top 10 yet. But I didn't expect most of them to make it. I expect Groundhog still so that would be a 4th one.

The Mighty Ducks is my #2. That movie got every kid I knew interested in hockey. It's amazing Joshua Jackson managed to make it out of being a child actor into being a great adult actor in tv shows like Fringe.

The Water Boy is my #3. I think it's my favorite Adam Sandler movie. Ma-ma-mama said...

I thought other people would have Water Boy but I think it's unlikely many other people have Mighty Ducks.

I have Big Daddy as my favorite Sandler. Waterboy is #2. I didn't rank Waterboy; not sure why considering I ranked other Sandler movies. I guess I just considered it too "niche" and wanted to recognize other things and Sandler already had enough movies on it. I thought Big Daddy would get ranked. I thought most people really like that one.

Grosse Pointe Blank is my #1. But it won't get ranked. I don't know why I love that movie so much but I have watching over 100 times easily. It is my favorite movie ever (maybe second behind 'Almost Famous'). It never gets old to me. Just watched it again earlier this month…

The other one that I love that is underrated so it won't get listed (but is gaining steam) is 'Galaxy Quest'. I had it in my top 10. It is the best 'Star Trek' movie ever. Super fun movie with one the best supporting casts ever: Tim Allen is great as the star, but Rickman, Rockwell, Shaloub, Colantoni and even Weaver are so great. Very early roles for Justin Long and Rainn Wilson and Missi Pyle too.

There is one movie that I really holding out hope made the top 2. I don't think it happened but I still want to believe that people can recognize a "hip, hip, hip" movie.

    Catch you later…

Love both those flicks. I missed both. Too many choices in the 90s.

Mighty Ducks was awesome. I loved D2 and D3 as well. Triple dekes and knuckle pucks all over my drive way in the summer. My parents had a big ole pond out back of our house that would freeze over in the winter. So plenty of hockey in the winter. My Father was in the Air Force and played goalie for them all across Europe in different leagues. So we were a hockey family already but Mighty Ducks helped my love right along. Slap Shot, Sudden Death and Happy Gilmore also didn't hurt.

Waterboy was awesome. The whole cast knocks it out of the park. Clint Howard makes the most of his minutes.

SGT. Bilko is just one of my list that probably won't make it. Steve Martin kills it. Phil Hartman as well. Man I miss Phil Hartman.

Grosse Point Blank! Forgot this flick too! Another film with Aykroyd, like Bilko, and just a great movie. Jeremy Piven also great and the Cusacks also were wonderful. In band class my buddy has the opening riff to Blister in the Sun down and I played drums and would follow his lead. Used to drive my band teacher nuts but hearing that song in that movie always makes me think of band. I even have the soundtrack laying around up in my room.

@Pablo Diablo can you fix it so we can do more than one video per post? I don't think anyone's on 56k anymore.

Nothing is obviously sticking out to me as the fix for it when looking at the options, so I think it's too backend for me to adjust.

This list is garbo without Airheads, PCU, Mallrats, BASEketball, Orgazmo, and Beavis and Butt-Head Do America. You should all be fucking ashamed of yourselves.

Dumb and Dumber... I mean what is there to say, it's completely hysterical. It feels like almost every scene has an iconic joke or bit. The Farrelly Brothers had quite the comedic run.

I will tell you that Mallrats is not the #1 on the list, and I too was disappointed it didn't make the top 20. I had it 2nd, behind only South Park.

I think our list is good though and I would only change #18-20

I need to rewatch Dirty Work. The last time I did it was on a VHS tape and I probably shouldn't have been watching it. I don't remember anything, just that Norm Macdonald was in it and Norm Macdonald is awesome.

It definitely isn't as lax as it used to be but everyone is also older now. I would feel weird calling Hero "Fagballs" if that was still his username. It's still not as strict as some other places on the internet that don't even allow banter.

So that's not a knock on it, it's just how I place it within the genre we're discussing.

Another movie that would have been high up on my list if I wasn't banned would be Senior Trip. I can watch that shit any time and laugh all the way through it. Plus it turned me on to the Phunk Junkeez, and they are one of my favorite bands.

    I forgot Airheads.

"I was editor of the school magazine!"

Dirty Work was on my list, maybe 20th. I'd have to look it up.

Senior Trip is another great movie that I missed. All I can remember is it had Doberman from SGT. Bilko looking for that blonde Asian. I haven't seen it in so long, I know I have a double pack DVD with that and Loaded Weapon 1 which is also fucking great, maybe I'll give it a watch over the weekend.

Dumb and Dumber. This movie from start to finish is just boom boom boom. Joke after joke after joke. Some movies might have funnier bits in it but literally start to finish, no lag just hilarity. My list might change on what I've seen recently but that comedy stands the test of time and, if it's eligible in the conversation, then is my number 1.

So Groundhog Day is number 1? That would be my guess but who knows.

Another good one was Multiplicity with Michael Keaton. I think I had that in the 7-10 region without pulling up my list.

Groundhog Day was my #10 but as long as it made enough lists it could have made #1. I think Waterboy is funnier.

Groundhog Day is massively overrated. I'd rank Dumb & Dumber above it, no doubt.

And... how in the world did 10 Things I Hate About You NOT make the top 20? Come on, folks!

Also, no Sandlot, Mrs. Doubtfire or Friday?

Great movie but Waterboy not being on this list is criminal.

I was thinking of doing a fake out and posting City Slickers 2: The Legend of Curly's Gold as the winner but decided against it

Groundhog Day not only won, it won convincingly with 14 out of 17 people including it (no other movie had more than 11 votes) and a 30 point cushion over the second place movie. I was surprised.

Ha, I thought about doing a fake out with my NES list with Ghostbusters as #1 but decided against that as well.

I had 1 & 2 flip flopped but Groundhog Day is such a excellent movie. Murray kills it. Just little things he does and looks he makes. You need to repeat view on it a few times to catch some stuff. It is a top notch movie, no doubt.

Going back to Home Alone. I've thought that someone should back a truck of money up to Culkin's house to get number 3 made. Everyone is still alive so can come back (Parents, relatives, siblings, Wet Bandits) and Culkin plays the parent who forgets his kid this time. That has money maker written all over it.

Culkin seems like he has a kind of funny, but fucked up sense of humor. He would want to be one of the crooks.

Could always try for the ultimate return cameo too…

Disney+ is supposed to be doing a movie with the kid from Jojo Rabbit as the star but with Macaulay in some capacity. This will technically be the 6th movie in the Home Alone series.

Incorrect, the father of Kevin is dead. John Heard died 3 years ago.

Culkin is funny on twitter and seems like a good dude in interviews but I'm not sure he has the acting chops to be the lead of a movie. Whatever reboot thing they're doing on Disney+ is probably a happy medium, giving him a cameo or supporting role. I'm not much interested in it regardless, despite by love for the first 2 movies.

Home Alone 3 isn't bad considering it's lacking Macaulay Culkin.

It also has Tubthumping by Chumbawamba, which is still a banger.

Yeah I've seen HA3 but pretty much thought it needed the originals.

I didn't know John Heard had passed. RIP.

John Candy I knew of passing but still you could do a movie without his character. Heard leaves a bigger hole.

I'll be in the look out for the Disney + flick. The Mouse's pocket book is probably best suited to bank roll this stuff. Between them doing this and bringing back Moranis for new Honey I Shrunk the Kids stuff I'm sure they had to invest some dollars.

Yeah, on HBO Max they had some lady explain that the movie deals with racism before the movie started. I think they had it before Gone with the Wind too, but I've never seed that.

Nope, probably would not be made. My wife watched the first 5 minutes of Saddles and said she wouldn't watch anymore.

Donald, was happy to see I wasn't the only one who voted for Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead. Great movie.

Nothing to Lose is another good one. Lawrence and Robbins worked well together I thought.

I was the only one to give Cabin Boy a vote. Chris Elliot was great as the pristine Fancy Lad who had to become a Cabin Boy. Watch this zany film of you haven't seen it yet.

Looking at the full list, here are my picks for most underrated.

Clerks & Mallrats - these were ranked in the 20s so they weren't drastically overlooked but I love Kevin Smith's work on these and both were in my top 20. They are a little rough around the edges but so funny and distinctive.

City Slickers - always loved this one. I remember seeing the sequel in the cinema. it's very funny but also very sweet and adventurous. great all around movie.

Half Baked - thought it would have had a shot at the top 20. So good.

Ace Ventura 2 + Austin Powers 2 - talked about them already, 2 classic comedies that probably got overlooked for being sequels.

Deuce Bigalow is great and should have been on more lists.

I think it would be nice if in the future maybe we just submitted movies to get one big list to choose from before rankings?

I would have bumped The Mask for another movie, nostalgia made me do it.

City Slickers is great. Crystal and Stern do a dam fine job.

I completely overlooked Kevin Smith's work. I love his first few movies. Just didn't pop in my brain. I must have seen Clerks and Mallrats countless times.

Randall is who I based my serving career in later in life. One too many bad customers and getting stuffed in tables for no good fan reason turned me into a low key Randall. Couldn't be as profane as him but his spirit lived on. Glad I quit serving all together to be honest. People suck.

So good. Also fun fact Rick Moranis was supposed to play Phil but dropped out at the last minute due to his wife’s sickness so Daniel Stern was a last minute replacement. All respect to Moranis but it’s a role I can’t picture as anyone other than Stern. He nailed it.

Dumb and Dumber, fucking comedy classic.

Groundhog's Day, funniest movie of the 90's? I was very very very shocked to see that as the #1 movie. Top 10, definitely if you really break it down. Top 20 for sure. #1? 20 years ago I would have probably agreed but I just watched this movie and it wasn't that funny. It had great moments but I remembered it being a lot funnier when I was younger.

I didn't know Moranis was up for that part. Picturing him cheating on his wife like the character did is a bit hard to picture. Stern did nail the part but am curious now as to how it would have turned out with Rick.

    Speaking of Rick Moranis:
    https://nypost.com/2020/10/02/man-67...t-side-attack/
Why are some people such assholes?
Actor Rick Moranis was punched in the head by a stranger wearing an “I ❤NY” sweatshirt in a caught-on-video attack on the Upper West Side, police said Friday.

The suspect, who bolted on foot, is still at large.

“This is crazy — getting mugged 7:30 in the morning on Central Park West,” a Manhattan cop source told The Post.

“Welcome to [Mayor] de Blasio’s New York,” said the officer, referring to what mayoral critics say is Hizzoner’s soft-on-crime stance.

“And [the suspect] will be out in minutes after he is arrested. Welcome to Gov. Cuomo’s no-bail New York,” the cop added, noting the state’s controversial bail-reform laws.

LOL. Fuck this article. For one, Rick Moranis deserves better both from the asshole who punched him and this shit article you are sharing. Like New York suddenly became shit. Dude I lived in Detroit, imagine if I blamed how fucked that place was on the governor lol.

Speaking of cops, I should have put Police Academy 7 on my list.

Believe my vote for Pump Up The Volume was the only one. Damn shame it didn't make the list or get more votes. Watched it again recently and it still holds up great.

Such a great flick as well. Samantha Mathis and Christian Slater were great together. Not to be a perv but I remember watching this when I was young and she whipped that sweater off. I don't think she was the first topless woman in a movie I saw but it might have been. Either her or Beverly D'Angelo in NL's Vacation. Was this released in 90?

Yeah it was 1990. I wanted to add Heathers to my list except that was released in 88.

I was thinking it had to be 90. It has some 80s vibes to it though.

I’m watching D2 on Disney+ and this movie is so 90s and so ridiculous. I love it, and it’s more fun than the first one, but it’s also completely wacky in every way. The first one is at least somewhat grounded and is better from a critical eye, but the second one is the more memorable entry. The first one is one of the great sports movies; the second one is one of the great KIDS movies.

Also Jesse Hall is the best duck.

I remember thinking where is Jesse Hall in D3 when I first saw it. I don't know why he wasn't in it but he could have been a asset against those Preppy kids. They don't even mention him. They still call people cake eaters though.

He was also a dam good pitcher in Sandlot.

I saw D2 in theaters with my 5th grade class. Sat next to this girl I liked. Ate with her at BK in the food court after. About the movie though, the opening when they gather the Ducks is a all time great scene. I remember watching and being like this movie is already great!

Did things work out between you two? Did she gain weight from eating BK? What's she up to now?

Hadn't seen her in years but when I did, she looked good so no BK addiction. I didn't talk to her though because I had a lady friend at the time.

I went to my best friend's house on Saturday and his wife was watching Groundhog's Day on tv. I watched about 10 minutes of it with her after telling her about this list and how I didn't think the movie held up after all these years. I still didn't find it that funny. It's one of those movies that doesn't have gut busting jokes throughout, some of it is just a nice movie to watch with some witty comments.

Still a very good movie and again like with Big Lebowski, I might be in the minority not thinking it was top 5-10 but I completely get why others do!

    Ok I went into D3 after D2...

-This is clearly a level down from the first 2 but it’s still a worthy final entry. The varsity vs JV set up was solid, with the new coach taking over for Bombay.
-Charlie hit a growth spurt is a major angsty dink for most of the movie. Super annoying.
-I said in my previous post that Jesse is the best duck, and his presence is missed here but I also want to award my second-best duck award to Julie “The Cat” Gatfney. Goldberg is shit compared to her.
-This movie is filled with melodramatic dialogue that gets a little cringeworthy, especially in Charlie scenes.
-Changing the school mascot at the end was a little much but I just realized it fits into Charlie’s girlfriend’s petition from the beginning to change the name to something less offensive.
-these kids get so many concussions lol.
