What did Morrison say that’s so wrong? The silliness of this forum is really proving my point in the rant I had earlier

I hate Philly fans with all the passion that's left over from my hatred towards Boston sports fans but none of this shit has crossed a line, is even close to being anything mildly outrageous and nor should the Philly fans (well PurePlayer) give a shit what people think

Tom needs to be careful with his hand. Let gronk do it.

At first I thought it was a shot at Millie Bobby Brown. When I realized it was just some old Vikings fan I lost interest but it's still extremely Philly to say fuck a 99 year old Minnesota woman who is probably a far nicer person than anyone who has every lived in Philadelphia.

I am a little biased of course but how can you not root for the Eagles here? They lost their starting middle LB, starting left tackle, MVP qb, probably their best offensive/ST playmaker in Sproles, their starting kicker, best ST coverage player, and lost their starting corner for the first half of the season and were still able to make the super bowl. They were underdogs in both of their home playoff games and are going against the greatest coach and QB of all time who happen to be the defending super bowl champs. The Eagles head coach was called the least qualified coach in all of sports by an "expert" earlier this year. It really is quite the story.

Phyladelphia with all its Trade, and Wealth, and Regularity is not Boston. The Morals of our People are much better, their Manners are more polite, and agreable -- they are purer English. Our Language is better, our Persons are handsomer, our Spirit is greater, our Laws are wiser, our Religion is superiour, our Education is better. We exceed them in every Thing, but in a Markett, and in charitable public foundations.

-Diary of John Adams, second President of the United States, October 9, 1774

Random thought about the greatness which is Tom Brady...

He was a 6th round pick which most don’t even make a team and a lot of people talk about how his early years he had a great def great kicker yadda yadda yadda... which is true but he was developing into a great qb while winning superbowls in his 2nd 4th and 5th year. It’s insane.

#TB12=G.O.A.T and it’s not even close.

I still think back. What if Bledsoe never got injured? When would Brady have gotten his chance, would he have even been given a fair chance?

I think about that too and honestly probably not. With thinking about that how many times does that happen in the NFL not just qb. Dolphins for example.. Ajayi last year if they would have signed Miller or which almost happened getting C.J. Anderson. Now Ajayi got traded Drake playing great.

Yeah I don't see teams reaching for an unproven 6th round pick if Bledsoe stays healthy and plays well. Or the Pats trusting that Brady would be their number one option the next year if Bledsoe was awful.

There is a strong chance Brady would have taken Bledsoe's starting position either during the 2001 season or after it, even without the injury. Bledsoe was not playing very well. From 1999-2001 (34 starts) his stat line is 38 TDs, 36 INTs, 57.8% completion, passer rating 76.4. He was adequate but the team going 5-11 in 2000 and starting 0-2 in 2001 was a cause for change. Brady was clearly already impressing enough in practice just to go from 4th string QB at the start of the 2000 season to 2nd string by its conclusion. Although we didn't know it at the time we now know Belichick has little loyalty to big name starting players if he thinks he can get better value or better performance from a young guy. So most Pats fans would tell you Brady would have taken over soon anyway but it's impossible to know how Drew would have played during the rest of the 2001 season if he didn't get hurt. If he turned it around and started to play at his previous pro-bowl caliber level, he would have kept his job. If he continued how he was trending, Belichick probably makes the move.

I'm instigating but in all honesty having now watched those videos I posted above, it really does seem like a miserable fan experience for Vikings fans at that game and that's not cool. Yelling 'fuck you' at the Vikes fans as they walk in is good fun IMO - that one video where it's only verbal and flipping the bird is actually pretty funny as long as you're not doing it to kids - but throwing full beers at people and throwing hats in the urinals to piss on them is obviously over the line. Not that it would make it any better but it's not even an NFC East rival, it's the friendly Vikings don'tcha know.

Based on what I've seen I really do think it's one of the worst stadiums to go to as a visiting fan.

Come to Foxboro & we'll treat you with respect.

It's actually a great point to be made that Brady is a perfect example of how quarterbacks need time to evolve and grow into their maximum potential. He absolutely did not play the way he does now during those first few super bowl runs.

Little by little though he transformed into the very pinnacle of what you want your quarterback to be.

It was way more than 3. They were thrown at fans before th e game and thrown at the team bus after the game.

Every sports team has dickhead fans. Philly just happens to have the reputation for being one of the worst. That reputation isn't going away anytime soon. Just be glad the game isn't in Philly because imagine what would happen when the eagles lose in a few weeks.

that wont matter. the reason the light poles were greased on sunday was because when the phillies won the world series back in '08 people went fucking apeshit and started climbing up them, a luggage store had its front windows smashed in and merch stolen, some shit was set on fire and general vandalism. my wife was mugged trying to walk to her apartment. win or lose, its always an option.

Hardcore soccer fans are the absolute dregs of society. Anything short of murder is probably tame for them but that doesn't excuse normal levels of scumbaggery in civilized America.

one stat I find impressive... over the last 17 years:

    Regular Season Record: 209-63 (.768)
    Playoff Record: 27-9 (.750)

the Patriots win in the playoffs at almost the same clip that they do in the regular season. if they only played playoff teams they would be a 12-4 team on average. wild.

Something people forget a lot is that even though Brady played very well, I wouldnt say great, in the 2001 regular season, after Brady was injured in the AFC Title game against Pittsburgh before halftime of that game and Bledsoe led the Pats to victory, there was a fairly strong national/ESPN debate on whether Brady or Bledsoe should start versus the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI.

Obviously, Belichick made the right move, but at the time it seemed even amongst Pats fans it was a fairly even debate for at least a week or so. Am I correct Fro? Or was that just the national narrative?

It is funny because I feel like Pats fans generally shit on the Drew Bledsoe era, but he was clearly the most successful Pats QB pre Brady, won 3 playoff games, made 4 pro bowls, 2 2nd team All Pro selections, and made a Super Bowl. Bledsoe would have a statue if he played for my lions, I hate how depressing lions history in the Super Bowl era has been.

What's mad? If you get hit in the head by an unopened beer tossed from relatively long range you will be very seriously injured, almost certainly concussed, no?

That debate was overblown. After Brady got us to a wild card bye week and a victory over the Raiders, the job was his assuming he was healthy after his AFC title injury. Off hand I forget the details of that injury but once he was cleared, most people expected him to get the start.

Of course the raging debate had already occurred during the regular season when Bledsoe was nearing return but Brady was playing well and winning. That was truly the talk of the town and an even split among fans about what Bill should do.

    Interesting stats I heard yesterday.

There are have been 6 walk of touchdowns in NFL Playoffs (including overtime)

Those teams are now 0-6 in the next round, have been beaten by an average of 24 points and are -11 in turnovers.

Interesting but it must exclude the Patriots winning the SB on a walk off last year.

By the way it was funny how they made the Vikings kick the extra point (or rather kneel for it) but I don't recall the Patriots having to last year. Maybe that's because it was overtime instead of regulation.

yea I just read that they don't make you do the extra point try on an overtime touchdown. but they do in regulation even if time expires. weird rule, probably should be changed. no reason to make them kneel after time has expired.

    similar kind of stat:

There have been eight teams to win a conference title game by 30+ points before the Eagles did so in the 2017 NFC Championship game. The previous eight teams to accomplish the feat went 2-6 in the Super Bowl.

The reason why they have to do the extra point is because of the regular season and how point differential could potentially be used for a playoff tie-breaker.

And yes I know the same happens with OT points and it doesn't make any sense. But that was the reasoning I read.

They should only kick the PAT after a game ending touchdown if the other team is now losing by 2 or less points since that's what a blocked PAT returned is worth. Never know what might happen, as rare as it is.

Yes- this. The trailing team can score and change the lead. That's why it is kicked/kneeled.

I would say forget this possibility. Let it end. We're not talking about a blocked PAT, we're talking about a kneel down. Has a kneel down attempt ever been fumbled and returned by the defense for a touchdown? I wonder. Even if so, I can't see it happening in the future. Let it be a true walk off. That's fun. Making the teams come back out for a meaningless play is dumb. Didn't the Saints only have about 6 defenders on the field because everyone else was in the locker room already? Lol.

If you are up 1 or 2 points then that PAT should happen even if it's a kneel down just like teams kneel it to run out the clock at the end of the game. Should they not have to kneel it when the other team has 0 timeouts under 2 minutes?

Or the player that led the league in passing is 0-5 in the Super Bowl. Guess who leads in passing? Tom Brady.

There's no question I want the Patriots to win on Sunday. An Eagles win is a disgusting thought to me, and Belichick has played a major role in all four Giants Super Bowls, whether he was defensive coordinator for two of them or the losing coach in the other two.

His obvious soft spot for the Giants doesn't hurt either. He's a Giant.

    Fuck the Eagles.

    Go Pats.

"The Two Bills" premiering Thursday night will be great.

Side note, Alex Smith will be traded to the Redskins per sources. Cousins will hit free agency, one can now presume.

I've got it on the DVR. From what I hear it's supposed to be phenomenal.

Don't be surprised if the Jets flirt with Cousins and then wind up not pulling the trigger because they're the Jets.

The players can complain about thursday game all they want, but the NFL isn't getting rid of it if they get half a billion a year for it.

Fro, how are Pats fans feeling about this game? Nervous? Confident? Blowout or close game?

Close game. I mean, in our previous 7 super bowls this era the only one decided by more than 4 points was the overtime one. They're always close. Some are saying we deserve a comfy win after all those nail biters but I don't think many of us are predicting that. There is certainly confidence, though. If it's a close game in the 4th quarter, no one around here doubts that the defense will make the necessary stops and that Brady will do it again. Probably the same sentiment nationally.

There are some fans around thought that are overlooking the Eagles a bit. I have heard some fans in recent days start to wonder about how many more Super Bowls Brady can win if he plays until 45.

No one calls him Jtim but I'm guessing it's because he's from Tennessee but the Titans didn't exist when he was a kid so he was just a Favre fan.

I was too lazy to type out his full name, and JT is a wack acronym.

    Pros/cons:
PRO- You obviously knew who I was talking about
CON- My attempt to save 2 seconds resulted in more time wasted because of this post.

    Thanks, Fro.

I actually didn't know who you were talking about. I suspected it was him but had to google "Timberlake Packers" to confirm. Your attempt to save 2 seconds ended up costing me the time it took to complete that google search, and now this additional time discussing it. It was a bush league move, plain and simple.

So you obviously suspected, then, as opposed to obviously knew.

Immaterial difference, as Timberlake was evidently the first person you thought of.

Your self doubt compelled you to google, and you decided to retaliate by instigating me into wasting time in explaining myself.

With my eyes. No plans for me. Got a real early day Monday and the temptation of going to any parties will result in drinking and gambling ridiculously so I will just catch the game at home.

Figured I throw this in here. I am a big fan of Hot Ones with Sean Evans and his latest episode had Von Miller on. Great interview in my opinion and Von just comes off as such a down to earth likeable guy. I am now a fan. Fro will like the vid for the ending.
