I just saw this and came to post it. Was unsure if it was a joke (since it was Botchamania's FB page I saw it on) but then I clicked through the link and holy shit.

I was going to moan about AEW becoming a bit like TNA back in the day, hiring all the hasbeens from WWE. But used well, could be a good signing. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's not going there to wrestle much and he's a big enough name to garner some extra eyes to the product for them.

Plus, I could see him being a positive influence on the younger guys and gals.

No Christmas card from Vince this year lolz. On the other hand I'm sure he was tied in to a legends contract so maybe Vince let him go as a gesture for 22 years loyalty. Be interesting to hear how this came about.

I saw it on twitter and was shocked. Good move for AEW. He can definitely be a good person in the locker room for the younger guys along with his commentary role and the occasional match.

I'm surprised WWE didn't put him in the booth. I always thought he'd excel in that role.

Quite a shock as he’s been with WWE 22 years and he’s a pretty big name. Not sure how much wrestling he’s still got in him but probably a good guy to have around.

Hmm. Interesting. Kind of a nothing signing for me. Yeah it's wild he was in WWE for so long but so was Arn Anderson, I believe almost 20 years. 10-15 years ago this might have been a big deal but Show on commentary-meh. Show wrestling? Please God no. The guy can barely move, he just LOOKS like he can because he lost weight. Losing weight doesn't change the fact he was 6-700lbs for 15 years killing his already shit knees.

I would love to say "He'll be good for the young guys" but we all know that if the young guys and Kenny Omegas of the AEW roster aren't taking the advice of people 100x better than Show that they already have, what's Show going to do? I'll tell you what he's doing--cashing that check TNA style.

I honestly think he's mostly just there to do commentary, maybe produce matches, and be a PR guy. He'll be allll over that TNT network.

Yeah I honestly don't see him being a positive or a negative. I stopped caring about this guy back in 1997.

I can say these are the times I have ever given a shit about paul wight:

    1. Him throwing austin through the cage
    2. His ECW title run
    3. Mayweather match/feud
    4. Great khali match/feud
    5. Cody rhodes embarassing him for weeks leading to a Mania match

bonus points to his tag team with Kane, but that's mostly because of how big of a mark i used to be for Kane

Too bad they can't use the 'please retire' chants from ten years ago as his entrance theme.

Ok I'll admit, his match against Flair for the ECW title was pretty entertaining. Big Show pretty much single handily carried the torch that burned any interest in WWE's vision of ECW. Name 1 time in the history of the WWE where we saw an entire audience turn their back on a match lol. Show v. Batista-BRUTAL!

He definitely should have been bigger imo. I was a big fan of him in 1996-1997 but I think his ego which lead to shittier health killed it for him to get to that next level.

Shit I don't think it was even 2 years ago that he was getting that chant was it?

In WWE? At least 30. Half the time you didn't even know what the fuck he was doing because one week he's teaming with Ryback, the next he turns on Ryback, the week after he's teaming with Ryback again lol.

It's a good signing imo. If used correctly he can still be a draw and make for good matches, he'll look even more gianormous compared to the midget roster in AEW as well.

When he's motivated he's always showed he can entertaining, he was a bit stale in WWE though.

Show definitely had his moments through the years but not consistent enough. His latter stuff in WWE was alright too, his stuff with Sheamus, Strowman and Orton so this does feel a bit out of left field to meas always assumed he was WWE4lyfe and at least in a backstage role helping people out but good luck to him here.

I've never really been a Big Show fan. He was coolest in WCW in 96/97 as ND said mainly because he just looked so good. His size and speed combined were like nothing I've ever seen. But I'll admit that he became a hell of a worker in the late mid-late 2000s. He had great series with Sheamus, Henry, Del Rio, Reigns, Strowman. Some incredible matches in there.

I know he's known for not getting along with everyone though. Presumably Cody is one of the people he does get along with. I think he could be good on commentary but then AEW has too many commentators at the moment as it is.

I don’t think he had much love for the way things are I think. He was pretty outspoken about the guys being too soft and spending too much time playing video games on Broken Skulls with Austin which is kinda ironic seeing as Kenny Omega’s persona and finisher is based on video games lol.

    Here’s the quote:

Big Show I think we’ve never had more athletic talent than we’ve ever had now in WWE.

Austin: Is that good or bad?

Show: It’s good if done right. But the one thing I’m upset about is they’re too nice. Too friendly. Too comfortable. Too happy to be working there. Vince will tell you himself. You’re going to have to step on toes if you’re going to make it in this business. I want to see some toe stepping. I’m not talking about being a dick. I want to see someone stand up, does business, has that drive that if he has to eat through somebody, that’s fine. We’re not all friends. We’re not all going to go to Chipotle together. We’re here to make money. We’re not all going to play Madden on a computer in a back locker room together.

If Show is a gamer it must be a PC thing because nobody that's a console gamer says "Play Madden on the computer"

I'll say it again....unless they're intimidated by his size, none of these cats are going to give a shit what he says because they all think they've figured it out! They're not even playing the long game they're cool with 700k views a week, mainly because nobody else is really doing any better or worse lol. Sting popped a rating and that was it, back to normal. And Sting is for sure a bigger name than Big Show in any realm.

What I do want to see is a botched KO punch to Marko Stunt.

Yeah but is he showing up to the lockerroom with his 19 sided die and dressed as a fuckin dragonslayer? I doubt it but it would be pretty awesome to hear about a massive D&D game between WWE talent. I played it once when I was 9 but my youngest brother who's 22 is a die hard.

I sorta get what he’s saying too, but at the same time I think he’s kinda stuck in the old school mentality a bit. Chilling out a bit backstage and making lots of money is probably prioritised now over politics and keeping kayfabe alive. If folks are enemies onscreen but want to play games backstage so what? Brings the talent together and boosts morale I reckon.

So Big Show is just a poser? Weak.

Yay. You know what would be awesome? Big Show as Stunt's manager who helps him beat Kenny Omega for the WWE championship.

I hope its a halving of the Tuesday show tbh, At times it has clocked in at a run time equivalent to a ppv which is mental for a supplementary show and tbh took me out of watching it weekly.

It's been fun to dip into but yeah it's far too long to watch through. I think it was always meant to be a short term thing during the pandemic though.

TK is pretty open about it all: Dark exists to give guys a place to develop and it gives indie workers a paycheck during the pandemic. They've signed a lot of guys from there too, plenty who were unknowns too.

It'll pop a big rating when he debuts, then the ratings will go back to normal a week or two after that. If AEW really wants to impress, they'd sign a younger guy, or Brock Lesnar.

Is Matt Morgan still kicking about on the indy wrestling scene? Severely under-utilised and ruined by WWE, used better by TNA but if still active he would not be a bad signing.

Just saw the clip of Big Show's last appearence in WWE. Would be funny if he showed up in AEW as the Big Bro.

His 2000s gimmick of impersonating everyone was gimmick. His Hulk Hogan “Showster” gimmick and voice was spot on!

Man impact should've jumped on that to get the big picture in the impact zone. Now TNT has Go-Big Show and... Not Big Show.

Stories are going around backstage he had issues with Orton but taking that with a bucket of salt as is the internet.

I’ll wait and see how this AEW run plays out but good luck to him.

I did hear that he didn't appreciate being utilized as a legend who only appeared every once in a while

I mean what the fuck? The only reason we don't hear the "please retire" chants when he's came out in the last year is because there aren't fans to chant it.

When they did feature him more often in his advanced age he would get seriously hurt OR the fan would shit on him. If that's true, that he was mad about pushing 50 and not being used more....join the fucking club bro. Maybe you shouldn't have smoked a carton a day and gained 200lbs in a year while trying to blame it on giantism.

There's Zero chance he left after 22 years because he suddenly had issues with someone he had worked with for 19 of those.

I guessed three dozen. I was pretty close. https://wrestletalk.com/features/the...-turn-tracker/

I am a fan of Big Show, and I expected him to be inducted as a Hall of Famer any day now. I guess that's off for a while now. So like most, I am surprised by this announcement.

I haven't always been thrilled with his booking, but I attribute the many face/heel turns to the fact that he could be convincing in both roles. However, I also think it took him far too long in his career to start caring about his character. Like Strowman now, he seemed content doing whatever the heck they asked him to do. I think being a face is much more natural for him now, as from various interviews/appearances outside WWE, he really seems like a likeable guy. I also think he doesn't get enough credit for how hard he's worked at improving his acting / promo skills, and his facial expressions. Despite the many turns he's had, or maybe because of them, when given a chance to explain himself, he usually more than delivers convincingly.

He might not get inducted until Vince kicks it. I don't see him getting in while he is alive and Vince is stubborn enough to put that in his will. I bet Macho is already written in.

As long as Big Show doesn't call any two guys "a couple of goofs", he should be fine on commentary.

WWE ruined Big Show the first month they got him. Straight inabfeud with Austin, losing clean the week before Mania, absolutely some of the worst booking ever. It was a great match mind but should have been kept for the next Mania, have him run throught he roster for a year beating everyone and then do Show v Austin.

Obviously in hindsight that doesn't work cause Austin got injured and missed Mania but they had as big a face in Rock ready to go as well so could have just ran that as the Main Event.

After that they just seemed like they had no idea what to do with him, face then heel then comedy character. Fair play he did it all but I think it definitely contributed to his lack of motivation when he got real big and sent to OVW.

Anyway, he's never gonna hit them heights again but I do think if they use him well he will add a lot to AEW even if it it doesn't correlate to increased viewership.

I guess for AEW it also helps build more credibility when they are getting big names, even if they are past it. Hopefully they learn from TNA and when they get the chance the don't use them to bury the young stars.

His ego was out of control and he talked about this on the 1st or 2nd season of Tough Enough. He was right, when your first televised match is a World title win over Hulk Hogan.....Who wouldn't be like "I'm the fucking man!" He was then given a huge contract by the WWE and while I don't really think his loss to Austin was a big deal considering he had lost to many others that weren't even on Austin's level in WCW....I do think that what the WWE wanted out of him, they weren't going to get. They wanted him to be the next mega star but he wasn't dedicated enough to making it happen.

The irony in Big Show having issues with not being used as frequently as he would have liked after making many comments over the years about how WCW never let the young guys take over....I don't really know what people like Sting and Big Show expect. I mean, at least with Big Show he's not even 50 but he's been around for 25 years. Sting.....I love the hypocrisy but who knows, maybe everyone who is pro AEW Sting was pro WWE Sting.
