Stale (and short underdeveloped) programs are AEW's specialty.

AEW just doesn't know how to book big guys do they, it's feels like a roster of midgets but they have a few big guys who are just mostly underutilised or badly used.

Miro - not really buying his gamer gimmick, comes across as a normal guy who's a bit of a dick but should really be a larger than life character.

    Luchasauruas - comedy character

    Hager - bodyguard

    Wardlow - bodyguard

Goldust - mid carder but I think they have potential to use his well for a final run if they wanted to. Not sure they know what they want to do with him.

Archer - they don't know what to do with him, tried heal but didn't commit properly now doing the same as a face.

    Spears - jobber

    Butcher - jobber

    Hobbs - green

Cage - used well enough so far but mid carder.

Has WWE just signed all the big guys? Or is there anyone out there worth bring in?

Yeah I thought Jungle Boy showed true potential in that match. The only other time I felt like someone made this kid look good and not just like everyone else was the Jericho match. Harwood is a true student of the game.

Subject change: Ryback in AEW would be fantastic. His gimmick could be that he's constantly breaking down the 4th wall. Interrupting matches, giving away the result. Going on Twitter a week in advance to drop a storyline ending Meltzer style. He could just basically be what Dave Meltzer envisioned himself as all these years.

Well...if they're Bizarro WWE they probably assume only big guys were ever put over in WWE so here we are. It's a weird situation, mostly because not a single person booking in AEW has ever booked a real show in their life. What shows have we heard Cody Rhodes putting together pre-AEW? What women's matches did Kenny Omega book prior to AEW?

The man who says he makes the final decisions is a 12 year old MNW mark trapped in a billionaire's body who cites the classic EWR wrestling sim as his credentials. That's why I'm glad I'm not a billionaire, the stupid shit my kids could apparently convince me of spending my "hard earned" money on gives me nightmares lol.

I mean, even Luke Harper was shoehorned into a storyline that we all know was fucking ridiculous and written for someone (Matt Hardy) that wasn't even in the company lol. Fuck man you and I should just team up, your parents can loan us a few bill and we'll start up a show on CBS.

Nah I don’t buy he’s do anything in AEW, he’s just another Cage & Archer but obviously not as good as those two.

FTR out of Beach Break today. AEW putting it as a storyline saying suspended after last weeks actions. Hopefully none of them has picked up an injury.

Missed the first hour, but the second half was great. Wedding was kept short and didn't get cringy and the main event was stellar. Everyone was on top of their game in that match

I'm confused about why Riho is in the American block of the Eliminator. Last I checked she wasn't a citizen, lol.

Just as AEW had begun to go through a bit of a rough patch, KENTA's here and that door appears to be coming down. Exciting stuff even if we don't know what the full extent of collaboration between AEW and New Japan will be. A Bullet Club war with Mox in the middle would be a great way to start though.

The women's eliminator tournament with separate Japanese and American brackets is a smart way of involving the Japanese women who can't travel as well. That should be fun.

Probably because she's employed on the AEW roster and if she can travel there they want her featured heavily on the AEW brand. Maybes they've found an agreement so she can come over and do a block of shows that meets with the quarantine to keep everyone happy in the meantime.

Anyway this makes a lot of sense, especially in America, for all the promotions to work together. The way wrestling is these days they rip through feuds and can find they seem out of freshness even after a small amount of time.

Some good fresh feuds to be made between AEW, NJPW, TNA and NWA if they work together and all can only benefit.

It might get to the point down the line where that's no longer the case but should be able to get a couple of years out of this where it's good for all involved.

Good to see KENTA back, feels like he has something to prove in the West after his WWE run which started as a big deal but quickly just became poor through injury and booking. Hopefully he gets a proper chance to show what he's got here.

    Thats not racism.
it preference for wrestlers that I can relate to. Due to culture, language, country of origin or live in which we have in common.

    period.
you don't know me or how many different continents and people .I've gone to and poured my life into that are different cultures and even -gasp! - colors at times, so you can take a flying leap with your media induced knee jerk over the top reactionary fake cries of 'racism' you freaking neo-Commie.

Now just leave me alone when you see my detestable racist quotes and perhaps I won't ruin your day.
I certainly skip by your posts without even bothering to read them (and have for years now). Try doing so with mine. It will decrease your stress being subjected to a vile racist like me.

Yeah I think it's just Peter being Peter ever since he was banned for saying racist comments. I mean, AEW have like 2 Japanese wrestlers which to me is very odd BUT I believe it's obviously due to Covid restrictions hitting them 4-5 months after starting up. WWE don't exactly go out of their way to sign international wrestlers especially ones who don't speak English. That's why they wanted to start up NXT Japan. That's why they're doing the India stuff.

Screaming RACIST just sounds ridiculous here.

    Excited for the tag match.

I still think The Acclaimed suck.

What the hell is a "Bear Country"?

Joey Janella is a nice guy I'm sure, but he's sloppy in the ring. I have 0 interest in seeing him vs Darby so hopefully he gets destroyed by Team Taz and can't wrestle or something.

riho lives in America and now that she’s done with her Japan commitments, she’ll be here competing full-time for AEW.

all of the Japanese women’s stuff will be filmed in Japan.

Maybe I'm showing my age but when people are excited about barely a million fans watching live wrestling on Wednesdays.....I guess the excuse will be they're not conditioned to watch on Wednesdays because 30 years ago it was church night lol.

I will say this. More people watch AEW live than NXT, but what are the numbers for people who go "I'll watch NXT tomorrow" which is what I do. I watch AEW live, and then watch NXT the next day on Hulu or the Network if it's available.

It just sucks that TNA were getting these combined ratings 10 years ago and it was like....what the fuck are they even doing in the business? AEW gets 8-900,000 viewers and with the roster they have and it's considered a monumental thing. And the best part is, these marks will be like "They're beating NXT!!" Well, they aren't beating OVW ratings so what the fuck?

Well Dynamite was a themed episode and NXT didn't have Tony Nese so it makes sense the ratings.

Most of the time I watch AEW live and then watch NXT the next day or so. I record both because sometimes I don't get to watch either that night.

Not sure who said above that the Acclaim suck but I agree. I am over that shitty rap gimmick. It is plain dumb. Just terrible. Not bad in that I want to boo them. Just I want to turn my tv off because it sucks so bad. My daughter was watching a little bit with me this week and said the same thing. Just ugh.

Loved Kenta showing up and the clip later where he says fuck you to Omega.

I will say with Impact and AEW working together it has been some good stuff and personally love the "paid" ads that Khan does. I still skip most of Impact though. Not that they don't have talent but the show is bland and not as polished as AEW and WWE. Also no fans of any sort and I think that hurts. WWE has the Thunderdome and AEW is able to do limited fans and I think that makes a difference. I would like to see more stuff with New Japan but I know that they really don't have a working agreement per say and just that some of the guys are free to work there when they are available.

I didn't realise that VENY in the AEW women's tournament is the new name of the highly rated transgender worker ASUKA (took the name when the more famous Asuka was known as Kana). That's cool, I've heard a lot of good things about her.

I've heard a lot of good things about Suruga, Maki Itoh, and what the fuck is Aja Kong doing in this tournament???? Is that to balance out having old ass Sting on the men's side of the roster? She should definitely be in the feud with Sting and Darby.

That wedding was so dull. Shit in-ring wedding segments are kind of a wrestling tradition but this didn't do much for me and I really can't work out where they're trying to go with Miro. It's been said before but it continues to look like a huge waste of his talent.

The Cody & Brandi/Jade Cargill & Shaq feud has not been at all interesting but Shaq is a naturally hilarious person and the clip from the TNT panel show was amusing. Bit embarrassing that they can't do this on PPV because of the NBA all star game. Maybe it'll boost the Dynamite rating but also maybe not. I'm not particularly interested but it's fine - perhaps it'll do something for Brandi & Cargill.

Eddie seems to have cooled significantly since Full Gear.

People seem to be overly critical of all the old legends being used as managers in AEW but I enjoy most of them. Tully works well with FTR imo.

Main event was very enjoyable with a hot ending. More of this sort of thing would be very welcome, especially with the return of crowds starting to look like it's only round the corner.

I'm a bit perplexed with the whole Miro booking tbh. It seems fairly obvious that he should be a monster heel just killing people, the blueprint was already done in WWE in his first year, just need to adapt that model. Even if he's not gonna go into the main event there is plenty of mid carders to kill in the meantime.

I dunno why people are against the legends being managers it's like wrestling tradition. What else are they going to do, Tully works great, Jake was fine as well but the dynamic doesn't work quite as well since they turned Archer. They barely use him as a mouthpiece which is why he's there so not sure where they are going.

Similarly with Arn, he's fine in this role just probably with he wrong person, doesn't really bring anything for Cody who's already over and can talk. Could be used better elsewhere.

I think Arn and Cody were a nice pairing at the beginning but I think Arn should actually get back to behind the scenes work ala WWE and help AEW out in that dept.

Is it wrestling tradition? Maybe. It's not something we see often. The sad thing is, by all accounts, none of these legends are doing anything backstage. It's all the talent and Khan. Jim Ross offers his advice half the roster slits their wrists lol. The thing is, just simply pairing people up doesn't mean it works and we're seeing that more and more in AEW. That's fine, they've barely put in a year and who they have is fucking sweet. Literally everyone in these roles are dope. Vickie, Taz, Arn, Tully, Sting, Jake the Snake. I mean, even if they're contributing behind the scenes the visual on camera is pretty good.

Well.it used to be tradition anyway. Back in the 80s/90s you had Heenan (who did a bit of both from the off tbf), Afa, Buddy Rogers, Iron Sheik, Freddie Blassie, Fuji, Lou Albano, Sherrie Martel, Billy Graham etc

More recently we've had Flair, Dutch and now the lot in AEW. Before the. You had like Baron Von Raske in the proper old school territories days.

I think it only deviated away in the mid to late 90s when they wanted to push Valets more with women who part played managers and wrestlers (though they weren't very serious about pushing the actual wrestling for women at the time). Now they are actually pushing women properly it makes more sense to go back to legends as managers.

I still wouldn't call it a tradition. I've never heard anyone say "It's a tradition that once you're at a certain point in your career to be made a manager/valet/etc." Some of the most iconic managers never laced up boots and if they did nobody considered them a legend.

You asked, what else are they going to do? Well, if you look at history, more often than not you're not seeing a former wrestler turn into a manager, you're seeing them as agents, bookers. That's what AEW really needs and we know by some of the public reactions toward Jim Ross these people have a hard time accepting that they don't have it figured out yet.

A big problem with wrestling today, not just AEW, is the disconnect between past generations.

You can tell how under the radar AEW is that this chick is seeing the light of day on TNT. When you see the praise someone like this gets, you completely understand why being a wrestling fan has never been more of a joke to the masses than it is now.

She's very popular amongst joshi fans so I'm not really sure what Nash Diesel is even trying to get at this time but even if you don't rate her I'm not sure what it has to do with AEW being "under the radar" or a joke to the masses. More repetitive nonsense. Cue more drivel about the ratings not being a fraction of what they were in '96 lol.

Oh I bet she is, considering the type of people, especially Western fans, who are into this bullshit. These are the same fans who get busted for having 6,000 files of kiddie porn but think it's ok because they're Japanese.

When she's on twitter talking about the things she talks about, it's not something I'm going "Yeah this is what I want to bring to my company!" Like I said, imagine you're a TNT exec and you hear your new show just signed someone who considers themselves the god of shit, piss, and whatever else you weird simps pay her to do lol.

Are we supposed to be paying attention to each other around here? I sure as fuck don't lol. Quit acting oblivious you know exactly what the issue here is but I get it, the one thing I have paid attention to over the years is your willingness to die on the Japanese wrestling hill no matter how obnoxious it is.

The Acclaimed shtick is better when it doesn't go as long. I didn't mind the rap tonight.

Is Scorpio Sky injured? I saw the banner for his podcast and it got me wondering why he hasn't been on Dynamite.

I think it was the tag-team battle royal where dude talked about how they're not John Cena wannabes in the rap. I thought that was pretty slick.

Not sure about Scorpio but yeah we haven't seen him in a grip.

Thought it went just right for what they said to Jericho/MJF.

Last time we saw Sky was in some mini feud with Sean Spears but don't think that actually happened so maybes he was injured. I think Spears got took of TV a week or two later.

Sky had a match not too long ago, but it might have been on Dark so it was easy to miss.

I found it interesting that Lee Johnson acknowledged everyone but QT in his post match interview. QT actually looked confused which makes me wonder if they'll do a program together on Dark. I don't know about a heel turn, but Marshall could express some frustration which turns into a short feud.

Last week's main event was so good, right up my street. Loads of great moments like the brawling in the kitchen with potatoes everywhere and KENTA's nuts stomp off the stage. Archer absolutely killed it and I enjoyed all the interference. Absolute banger.

Meltzer said Okada WILL be a part of the NJPW/AEW/Impact collaboration. Pretty huge.

Also, Jericho's wife was at the capitol protests on Jan 6th.

I haven't liked Jericho since he said he wouldn't wrestle in the US for anyone other than Vince, and here he is in AEW. Unless Vince secretly owns AEW?

If you want a wrestler with a great mind and opinion on politics I suggest following Kevin Nash on Twitter.

I remember the time he wore a Trump 2016 type shirt just to see if anyone would talk shit to him and nobody did. The irony was that he fucking hates Trump he just wanted to see what the fuss was about because everyone kept saying if you wore Trump merch people would try to fuck with you.

Well, if you're 7ft you're probably not getting fucked with compared to a 16 year old skinny white kid wearing a MAGA hat. Still, I thought it was hilarious.

I doubt people were afraid to mess with a 56 yr. old man (at the time) with terrible knees that they could easily outrun.

I would gladly pay you money to step up to Kevin Nash and play the tough guy routine. Dead serious. You're implying that people would know exactly who he was and what kind of condition he was in. Me personally, I see a big motherfucker like Kevin Nash I'm not saying shit.

But by all means Sasori, step up to the plate I'll gladly set it up.

Kevin Nash with fucked up knees could still beat our ass.

Why do people give a fuck what religion or politician or wrestler we like? That shit is even weirder.

People are people. I don't give a fuck if you're Kevin Nash or Kevin Russo from Lincoln High class of 2021. It ultimately does matter to me. I don't care what politician Diesel or "Kevin Nash" supports as a character. For example, I highly doubt Sgt Slaughter the man was a supporter of Saddam Hussein but if he truly was then fuck that guy lol.

Honestly it seems like more wrestling fans think what they see on tv is more important than how they really are it's very strange. Nobody seems to care that Steve Austin was and could very well still be a wife beater. But if Triple H doesn't put over everyone in under a minute he's apparently the guy you see on tv 100%. Very weird.

    'politician' lol.

I'm pretty sure there are republicans (supporters and reps) who aren't mentalist QANON twats, Which apparently Chris and his (morally) disgusting wife are.

I think if you let those things affect how you view the wrestler then that's odd. But there are definitely valid reasons to take them off the imaginary pedestal you've put them on and judge them just like you would anyone else. Chris Jericho being a Trumper hasn't changed anything but some of the insults I can now throw his way. I'm sure he can handle it, he's the DemoGod after all.

Where did I ever say I'd get in his face and harass him? I'd be happy to have a discussion with him about his political beliefs. If he's threatened enough to get violent by a few words, then I'll see him in court.
