When you use the scope to survey the land(can't remember what they actually call it), you can mark things with a pillar of light that stays in view on your scope until you reach the point. Can't remember what button you press, and I've been playing on Wii U, but it should be one of the face buttons.
I've never played FM Touch so can't say for sure how it is, but my understanding is that it's miles better than FM Mobile, which most people mistake it for and actually is really shit.
FM Touch from what I've been told is basically like what Football Manager used to be like back in the day (Championship Manager days), without all the extra stuff that got added in over the years that no one really needs. So things like press conferences and team talks are not in, but the core features are all there.
It's £29.99 on the Switch, which feels like a lot to pay at a time when the season's coming to an end. So I'm in two minds about getting it. A guy at work told me he's been playing it constantly on his iPad for months and can't get enough of it.
I find it too simplistic to be interesting.

Okay. 25 plus hours into Zelda and I'm finally to the first "dungeon" inside this fucking elephant.
I'm never ever finishing this game.
I just got the shock arrows and am about to hit up that elephant deal. I’ve got almost 30 hours in.
That's about where I am hours wise. Just finished the elephant job. It took me forever to realize I didn't need to beat that big ugly half horse looking motherfucker on top of the mountain to get all the arrows I needed. I must've died 20 plus times before I figured out to just run around and grab arrows then bail back down the mountain.
Yeah, I tried fighting him 3 times before realizing I could just outrun him and use bombs to divert his attention.
When I get stronger I'm coming back and murdering that thing.
I feel like we should just have a BOTW thread as to not clog this one up, but I just realized that i never got the camera and I could super use it to remember half the shit these people are telling me
I once killed one of them by hiding and chipping away at his health with bombs and arrows for like 20 minutes. At the time, any close encounter with the beast would've killed me in less than 5 seconds.
Got some decent loot off it so it was worth it.
I have no plans to get Labo but I'm still very impressed by this. It's cool as hell for kids.
Alright, figured out all the camel's puzzles and about to fuck up thunderblight ganon. Should I go do the salamander or the bird next?
After I did the elephant dungeon I just started exploring...and exploring...and exploring. I have made no real progress in terms of advancing the story or finding my way to where I'm supposed to be headed. But I have found an ass ton of shrines and opened up the whole area to the south. There's just so much to do and I get lost so easily but at this point I don't care. I'm just going to keep plowing through and exploring for a good long while. Worst case scenario is Link is going to be powerful as fuck by the time I get back on the main path.
Yeah, I started wanting to just get all those towers and find shrines and shit, accidentally came across the camel in Gerudo, so I started on that path.

I love that price point, and with those NES games you can play them with online multiplayer now which is a nice additional feature. They also said they are not doing a virtual console on Switch which is too bad but it seems like re-releases of old games could still happen just not in a "virtual console" setting. They phrased it like this:
“There are currently no plans to bring classic games together under the Virtual Console banner as has been done on other Nintendo systems."
I don't care how you brand it, just give me gamecube and N64 games on there and I will buy a Switch immediately.
I get a feeling they're going to try and give all classic releases the same treatment as the NES games, where they can play online, use voice chat, etc. Sort of like an "improved" Virtual Console with added features.
Of course that'll take time as they're still trying to push out new NES games to add to this collection.
With Gamecube games, I reckon they'll probably release the odd game as individual ports rather than a VC style collection of games. The Switch can handle some Gamecube games, but does struggle with others. So its not an easy task putting out a flawless Gamecube VC.
So, I'm kinda confused. Can't you already play online on the Switch? I have a friend who's been playing Mario Kart online. Is there more features or are some games restricted?\
online to this point has been free. starting in September it will no longer be free. that's when they're launching all this new stuff with additional features. so at that point you'll no longer be able to play Kart online (or any game with online play) without a subscription.
Its just free now because they haven't launched the service yet. Once it launches, you wont be able to play online for free (AFAIK).

Looks like our Pokemon games on the Switch are gonna be a re-imaging of Yellow called "Let's Go: Pikachu!" and "Let's Go: Eeevee!". Supposedly they will feature some gameplay mechanics of Pokemon Go, so maybe you'll swipe the pokeball at the mons yourself or something. Very interesting, since this is supposed to be Gen 8, so maybe it's an all new story taking place in a 3D Kanto.
I don't mind them adding new elements to the game such as swiping the screen to throw the pokeballs, but I'm really hoping the core of the game doesn't deviate too much from what we know and love. I just want a classic style RPG where you catch and collect Pokemon, and with the traditional battle system. If that stays the same then we're good.
Am I right in understanding that this isnt a mainline Pokemon title, and is actually like a offline version of Pokemon Go without the geotagging element?
This is like Pokemon Go with elements from the traditional series...
The mainline Pokemon game is coming to switch in late 2019...
Also, there's some blocky free to play adventure game called Pokemon Quest that's out now and will be on mobile platforms...

I've been playing Battle Chasers: Nightwar. It's a really solid game for anyone looking for a new JRPG. (Unless you already played it on another system. It first came out last year.)
Nintendo E3 Direct starts in a couple hours. Smash Bros will be the big ticket item (and will be playable afterwards) but what other surprises will they have?

Nothing too surprising from Nintendo (I didn't watch just been reading some summaries). Smash is fine but honestly the game doesn't seem to have changed much since Melee. More characters, woo?

I was readying something before their presentation that said don't expect anything too crazy because it's not like 15 years ago when E3 was when most big announcements were dropped. Now they do these Nintendo Directs every few months and spread out their announcements. Fair, but still seems like an underwhelming E3.

hollow knight dropping today got me the most excited. been wanting to play it for awhile and was waiting for the switch release.
fortnite coming to the switch is fantastic even if theyre months and months late to the party. played a couple matches on pc awhile back and was pretty awful, but ill download it here, too. its awesome that the biggest game on the planet at the moment is available for nintendos console. and not only that, but automatically becomes the ideal way to play portably thanks to physical controls.
still need to play the first octopath traveler demo, but the new one that drops on thursday should be pretty substantial given the save carries over to the main game. been in the mood for an rpg in this style lately, so i'll probably give both these demos a go sometime soon.

Love the visual style of that game. I played a bit of the first demo but not all the way through. Like you said with the save from the 2nd demo carrying over, I'll definitely be giving that a go.

Anyone played Octopath Traveler? I've been hearing a lot of awesome things about it. One of my friends described it as "a better Final Fantasy VI with music from Chrono Cross." This might actually be the first game I buy when I get a Switch.
I have it coming in the mail. I'm looking forward to it because I loved the demo, but it would have to be incredible to top Final Fantasy VI for me. That is one of my favorite games ever.
A FF6 remake or sequel made with the Octopath Traveler engine would be amazing. I hope we see more 2.5D JRPGs going forward.
Wow. They've added a fuck tonne of content to this game now. Over 100 stages, and around 900 tracks in the soundtrack.
Can not wait. I'm loving all the different modes. The 5 on 5 gauntlet mode looks fantastic and the character-elim mode is sick as fuck. A gazillion new pokemon, alll that music with customizable playlists, the morphing stages. Wow, i am legit blown away. I feel like whatever that green box on the main menu is, it's gonna be one final HUGE thing to really give this game a 1:1 attach rate to the switch.
Already got it pre-ordered, gotta make sure i can grab a GC controller and adapter day 1 too.
I really hope they add in 8 player couch multiplayer using single joycons like Bomberman R does it. Would be awesome getting a group of mates together for this.

sucks cause while all this shit looks great, i really have no attachment to smash bros and dont like playing it, so im likely not picking this up.
i've been getting way more excited about the smaller games making their way to the system. hollow knight, iconoclasts, dead cells, okami hd, little dragons cafe, mark of the ninja remastered, ghost 1.0. plus the rerelease of captain toad. im eager for a non-smash direct since nintendo did say they havent revealed their entire line-up for the rest of 2018 yet, and im curious what they have.

given all the fan service this game is swimming in, and how much people have been clamoring for a return of a mode like subspace emissary, it'd make perfect sense for it to be an adventure mode.
I skimmed through the Direct and it definitely looks great. But to me all these modes and features are just peripheral, ultimately the game will be great if the online mode functions well. I remember Brawl being very clunky online. I think Smash Bros Wii U was good but I forget. For this one, if the online mode is smooth (which it should be now that online has a fee), and especially if you can play it online on the go, then that's the real meat here.
yea lol. that's why I'm not into smash like I used to be. God I loved Melee so much, not only because the gameplay was so smooth but because I was playing it with my college buds. now that I'm in my 30s I don't have the bros needed to smash with in person. hence why online is so key.

Thankfully I live in a state where the Smash scene is still thriving, so there's places to go for weekly tournaments constantly. That's part of why i'm so excited for this, is that this looks like it'll be fun for playing in small tournies every so often
I'm almost finished with Octopath Traveler. Can't recommend this game enough to anyone who grew up with SNES rpgs like I did. I'm glad to finally be wrapping it up though, as I have acquired several Switch games recently. Code of Princess EX, RiME, Mega Man X Legacy Collection....not sure what to play next, lol. With Mega Man 11 right around the corner, I guess I'll do the Mega Man games. It's been years since I've played the series, and haven't touched any of the X games yet.
And yeah, Smash looks great. I still have my GCU from Best Buy, and you get a $10 reward certificate for big releases like that, so definitely gonna pre-order it.
I'm more of a Mario Golf guy. I might get Aces if it goes on sale.
Played Tennis Aces on my mates Switch. I didn't spend too long on it but it felt like there wasn't much depth in the gameplay to keep me going. Not sure what the game modes are like so maybe I'm being a bit unfair.
Also, how long is Octopath Traveler? I think I read somewhere that the game isn't really that long, and that most of it is replay value using all eight characters. Not sure how I feel about that, assuming its true.
The correct way to think of Tennis Aces is that it's a simple fighter. Some of the people you face online are ridiculous.
Also I just love playing a good tennis game.
May need to give it a shot, not enough tennis games and I do love the sport.
Octopath Traveler should last you at least 60 hours on one playthrough. You don't actually replay the game with all eight characters. Just pick one at the start and then go around the map and gather the other seven. They all follow along their own stories (four chapters apiece), but you can still use any characters you want in your party after you've recruited them all. And all of their stories will take you to different towns and dungeons, so you're not just going through the same content eight different times, if that's what you were assuming.

A couple of bits of news from yesterday. Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition is coming to the Switch, and Mega Man 11 demo is available at the eShop right now. I'd imagine these were supposed to be announced at the now delayed Direct.
I played the Mega Man 11 demo, and the game seems fun. I've been getting back into the series with the Legacy Collection. Currently playing Mega Man 2 - and Quick Man's stage is awful. (Those damn pole things are tough to avoid.)

The news of FF7 was kinda bittersweet for me. Up until about a month ago I hadn’t played it. Then I finally got around to playing it on an emulator and completing it for the first time. Two weeks later I learn it’s coming to the Switch.
I didn’t get 100% completion so I guess that will have to be my motivation to get it again.
Was planning on playing FF9 again next but I think I’ll hold off on it now.
I bought FF9 for PS4 a few months ago, intending to replay it on that this year. Now I'll probably buy it yet again (PS1, PS3, PS4) for the Switch. Depends on price, but FF7 and 9 could be very nice on the go.

Looks like there are some games where you can get the physical copy for less than the digital, yea? Odyssey and Mario Rabbids seem to be this way (still $60 on the E-shop but maybe $48 on amazon for physical). I want to go all digital here (I think 128 GB sandisk micro SD card would do the trick) but I'll probably end up with some physicals if I can save $10+ on a game. What do you guys do?
also I hate how the cartridges can be the cheaper option. shouldn't these game companies want to incentivize you to buy digital since it's less cost to produce/ship and also eliminates the re-sale market?

You should look into Hollow Knight as well, it’s awesome. If you like Tetris, I can’t recommend Puyo Puyo Tetris enough. I’ve been playing it nonstop for the past few weeks.
mario tennis is ass. I wouldn’t waste time with it.
the only two games i own physically are breath of the wild, which was the game i bought with the console, and lego marvel superheroes 2, which was on sale at target. everything else ive got is digital. first party titles arent going to go on sale on the eshop very often and when they do it'll be a pretty measly discount.

I enjoyed it well enough. Although I must admit it didn't really grasp me for a long time. Not like the old Mario Tennis. The lack of friends to play it with is probably a major reason for that.
I think botw is a must buy.
