Probably one of the least attractive ways to draw me in is the ol' 2 on 1 handicap match with the babyface going up against 2 scrub lackeys.

Very excited to see Orton v. Owens. It's a shame that I feel like they've wrestled on free t.v. in a singles match just within the last couple months and I can't remember.

To me, what's happening is a mix of lazy ideas but clearly distinguishing between the two. When you look at the two pairings, you clearly see an A-show version and a B-show version.

As for your second point, Smackdown acknowledged it last week. Shane said he liked Bryan creating an infusion of talent.

For him to be so chill about them just showing up and looking like the B-movie version of what his competition is doing.

I can't imagine Smackdown debuting Nakamura, then the next night (work with me) Raw debuting Itami in the same exact way, looking almost the exact same doing the same shit. And then Stephanie going "Wow Kurt great job on signing Itami" and nothing coming of that. This is why I think there's more to it but that's just hope. I HOPE there's more to it and it's not just a way to make Smackdown look like WCW used to when they started biting everything the WWE were doing.

I have very little in terms of optimism towards a Corbin/Roode feud. I don't really see those two interacting very well.

Smackdown is totally the land of no mid-card right now. Seems very heavy on storylines for tag teams and women, in addition to the obvious main event storylines.

I like Corbin. The WWE really found a way to make Roode irrelevant since his debut too. Nakamura wasn't even on this week either. You are telling me, you can't have Roode, Corbin, Nakamura on the show outside of a 1 minute backstage skit?

I was really excited for Black to come up to the main roster after Mania but the WWE is going to ruin him like everyone else.

It feels like they ask too much of Corbin in terms of promos. That said, whenever he's able to be a little more off the cuff, he does pretty well with them. When he had the post-match one where he talked about the tears of the fans, then his social media stuff leading up to the match with Miz, those were pretty good. I think they had aspirations of him being a main-event heel but I don't think he's headed that way right now. It's going to take more time with him.

It's really puzzling how they have so much stuff that's on ice right now: Rusev, Nakamura, Ziggler, etc. etc.

Seriously, if you're not in a main-event storyline, in the tag or women's division, you're SOL.

Who thought after watching Roode in NXT or (maybe) TNA and thought you know what, this guy should actually be a babyface!! The fuck!?!?

Oh I know, because fans enjoyed his entrance.

The funny thing is, I actually thought the premise of his feud with Dolph was great....but it should have happened down the road. It should have been a vehicle to turn Roode babyface if that was the way they wanted. You could have done an angle where Dolph is jealous that a heel like Roode is more beloved than heel Dolph and then it'd click--it's because of the entrance. Then Dolph could have done his thing that he was doing with the entrances. That shit was great.

But naw, had to do the whole customary "If you're debuting from NXT, gotta feud with Dolph right off the bat!" I can count at least 5 wrestlers in the last 2 years who's first feud was with Dolph after they got called up: Breeze, Crews, Corbin, Nakamura, and Roode.

I just didn't think it made sense. They clearly assume we were following Roode in NXT because a huge part of the appeal was that his entrance was this huge deal that everyone loved even though he was a bad guy. So they were playing on that with him and Dolph but it just felt out of place when he was doing so well as a heel. His entire career he's thrived way more as a heel and while I get SD is short on babyfaces, Roode wasn't the guy to bring up as the new babyface imo.

My biggest issue with the call-up of NXT women on both brands is that the wrestling looks tentative and sloppy. I know they may not have the same experience as the men, but they shouldn't sacrifice quality for a "women's Royal Rumble" match.

Jinder looks like a fucking idiot right now. You'd have to have been deaf, blind and stupid not to think that he'd jump AJ at the beginning of that match. I think he just needs to go back whatever rock the writers found him under a year ago...

Ruby looks like a parrot imo, Crazy Mary Dobson(Sarah Logan) is one of my favorites just because I've met her at JCW events and at a GOTJ in the past and she's an amazing person but I'm not sure she was ready for the jump to the big show just yet, and I don't know anything about Carmella 2.0....

I'm sure these women have skill, but it seems like they're being rushed. I also think it's weird that Riott Squad is basically mirroring Absolution (which I think is a fucking dumb name). Feels like they're just bringing as many women up as possible to do a rumble match, and then most of them will get dropped back down to NXT (or released) after the PPV.

There seems to be a distinct differentiation I see between the two groups. Absolution looks like Paige and two disciples. Riott Squad looks like three relative equals with a figurehead.
