    G1 Climax 27

The first of three announcements took place today in Korakuen Hall. We know the participants in this year's G1.

    Hiroshi Tanahashi
    Togi Makabe
    Michael Elgin
    Kazuchika Okada
    Hirooki Goto
    Tomohiro Ishii
    Toru Yano
    YOSHI-HASHI
    Kenny Omega
    Bad Luck Fale
    Tama Tonga
    Tetsuya Naito
    SANADA
    EVIL
    Satoshi Kojima
    Yuji Nagata
    Juice Robinson
    Minoru Suzuki
    Zack Sabre Jr.
    Kota Ibushi

Yuji Nagata has announced this will be his last G1

As has become custom the winner becomes the #1 Contender for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom though they have to defend that right in the lead up to that show.

I love the G1 concept but I never manage to keep up, way too many shows and matches for me. I always watch the last couple of shows though. Same with the Best of the super Juniors and the G1 Tag-League.

Ibushi returning for the G1 is huge. Some very exciting potential match ups for him in there. He and Suzuki come back in for the injured Honma and Shibata.

Kojima comes back in for Tenzan. ZSJ & Juice are the debutants - the two big NOAH stars obviously not around this time. No Cody, despite him publicly announcing his participation a few months back. Some people thought he might be taken out because he spoiled it but I wouldn't be surprised if he just got confused when he signed up to wrestle on the G1 Special shows.

Ibushi and Suzuki returning, ZSJ having a go and Kenny Omega being a much bigger star than he was last year make this a good looking field. looking forward to it.

Figure the main events at Ryogoku are Tanahashi vs Ibushi and Okada vs Omega.

Omega/Ibushi is the final everyone will want but will they do that with two guys whose commitment is so in question?

So everybody faces each other within the block and it's built on points? Respective block winners face off in the Finals?

2 points for a win and 1 point for a time limit draw.

So my first pass through I have Zack Sabre Jr winning by I guess default because he wins block A and Okada and Omega end in a dead footed tie.

Somehow I doubt that's how it will work out.

Should we start expecting more Junior HW's to be key players in the G1 due to Kenny Omega's success?

Kenny was never in it until he was a heavyweight and there are no Jr Heavyweights in it this year.

throwing KUSHIDA in one year would be interesting.

naito winning and okada/naito at the dome makes the most sense to me. i just hope they do omega/ibushi some time this year.

Ok, let me word this better.

Kenny Omega, Ibushi, Zack Sabre Jr., guys who established themselves as Jr HW wrestlers are now creeping in to the G1. It just doesn't seem like the norm was eventually every JR HW becomes a HW and gets in the G1. I could be wrong. Omega, former Jr HW champ. Ibushi a former Jr HW Champ. Sabre isn't exactly a HW. He's not even 200lbs. but they put him in the G1 I assume for reasons other than he has a sexy smile.

No. He'll do well. I'd be stunned if he doesn't beat Tanahashi night 1 and get an IC title shot in September or November, but he has no shot of winning this. I mean really it's either gonna be Omega or Naito who wins this thing.

    I'd say Juice

A guy like Sabre is in enough demand that he needs to book his dates out months ahead of time. He can't just clear out an entire month out of the blue.

To get to the final would be a mega achievement for someone like ZSJ and surely a statement of intent from NJPW in their belief in him.

Fujinami was a former JHW champion. He won in '93. Goto, Makabe and Naito were all junior heavyweights and won G1s over the last decade as well. I don't think it's a new trend.

Kanemoto, Liger, Kashin, Milano Collection AT, and Devitt have all entered as Juniors to various degrees of success

Zack Sabre Jr is considered a heavyweight in New Japan

    finished day 1.

nagata/yoshi-hashi - sort of boring early on, probably went too long. but once they got into their grove it got pretty intense and was good. crowd was super hot. nice opener.

fale/makabe - the best match these guys possibly could have had, like at the ceiling of the theoretical probability of how good this match could be. fale is on top for most of the match with some big man slugfest spots here and there when makabe tries to fight back. nice ending sequence. i liked this a good bit.

ishii/goto - what you expect from an ishii/goto match, in a good way. length was perfect for it to not overstay its welcome and they do lots of good stuff. nothing these guys haven't done with each other before, but a fine iteration of this match, making it very good overall.

sabre/tanahashi - sabre meshes really good with these new japan guys. i'm really looking forward to the ishii rematch, vs. ibushi, vs. naito. really unique feeling match and very good.

ibushi/naito - man naito is so over. it's ibushi's big return and every time an ibushi chant picks up it's quckly overwhelmed by naito chants. ibushi is getting worked over and some people try to start chanting for him, and soon the entire building is just resonant with NA-I-TO chants while naito is working as a heel on top. super hot crowd. they went nuts in this match, tons of wild spots. a second rope piledriver might be too might to kick out of. but whatever, this match was a blast. they really pick up the intensity toward the end and ibushi takes a hell of a bump off the destino. motyc quality.

hell of a first night. i'm going to make an effort to watch every tournament match this year, which i haven't last two years.

Rankings of matches after Day 1.

    1. Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi
    2. Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi
    3. Hirooki Goto vs. Tomohiro Ishii
    4. YOSHI-HASHI vs. Yuji Nagata
    5. Bad Luck Fale vs. Togi Makabe

My prediction: Naito beats Tanahashi in Sumo Hall to advance to the final. Omega and Okada go to a draw on the next night to eliminate each other, allowing an outsider to advance to the final. Could be Elgin. Could be Suzuki. Maybe even someone else. I'll go with the former though.

When you say Omega/Suzuki was disappointing, how disappointing do you think? I've seen some say it was better than Naito/Ibushi and match of the tournament, others say it was the worst.

it was alright, good even. nothing close to motyc quality. probably worth going out of your way to watch. there was some good stuff but overall they didn't seem to mesh well. the crowd didn't seem too into it most of the time.

I thought the crowd was really into it. I thought it was a really great match, Omega's psychology/selling is amazing from not wanting to make eye contact at the start and the one legged moonsault.

Got to say I absolutely loving the English commentary for the first time ever both KK and Cyrus have been on top form.

I dislike Mike Elgin a lot. Wee fat midget.

I've gotten 9 out of 10 matches right in Block A. 2 out of 5 in Block B.

ibushi/sabre was AWESOME. great clash of styles. sabre is a great addition to the g1. definite #2 match of the tournament so far. with certain tastes, i would see thinking it was the best.

nagata/goto and ishii/makabe were good. nothing special, what you would expect from those match ups. fine midcard g1 matches. natio/yoshi-hashi went too long but was good. fale continues to overperform, i actually really liked fale/tanahashi. maybe 2nd favorit of the night.

I'm actually following it this year.

LOVED Zack and Tana, really well done but Zack is great at the little things to work a body part so I expected that. About to watch Ibushi/Naito, 3 minutes in and I'm already enjoying it.

FWIW, I can't see anything but an Ibushi/Omega final if they want to make a shit ton of money.

it's the g1 final, i don't think any particular match up will have too much effect on the business they do. i'd really like to see ibushi/omega as the final but it almost seems silly to do anything other than have naito win and do okada/naito at the dome in the real main event this time. naito is too over.

if i were booking with that in mind, i'd have omega beat okada in the tournament and then do the 1-1-1 rubber match with okada going over at king of pro wrestling. omega/ibushi as featured match at the dome.

With that in mind, why not have Omega beat Ibushi in the final, finally beat Okada, and the do Naito & Ibushi programs chasing Kenny?

i just feel naito is too over right now for him to not headline the tokyo dome. after in 2014 when the okada/naito title match was relegated to second place behind the IC title match because naito was so not over and his push was failing terribly, they just need to run okada/naito as the real main event at a dome show soon now that naito is super over. this year is the best time to do it. omega is an odd case, it's hard to speculate how committed he is to njpw long term and how hard they're really looking to push the US expansion.

i've gotten through the first two days, skipping a few matches.

    1. omega vs suzuki 7/20
    2. naito vs ibushi 7/17
    3. sanada vs evil 7/20
    4. iishi vs goto 7/17
    5. robinson vs kojima 7/20
    6. zsj vs tanahasi 7/17

loved omega/suzuki. bunch of the little touches from omega, like not making eye contact at the start, the one legged moonsault, his selling, made this. loved the run in from suzuki gun and bullet club. v-trigger happy, and unless they make this knee injury plague omega through the rest of the tournament, i feel like he should have been submitted multiple times over the course of the match. if they keep the injury going, i like the idea of the story being omega dug down deep to get that first victory despite the sustained attack by suzuki, but now it's going to effect him more and more down the line. otherwise, make the knee a focus of the match but have omega getting out of the submissions faster. but even still, loved the match.

naito/ibushi was crazy, though kicking out of a second rope piledriver on the first night of the tournament seems a bit much.

really didn't expect to like sanada vs evil as much as i did. i liked the concept of rule-breaking stable mates who just unleash on each other. that baseball swing and home run chair spot were nuts, as was the cutter off the top rope to the outside.

iishi/goto was the first time seeing these two fight, so to see this was a 'typical' match for them makes me want to go back and watch some of the better reviewed matches they've had. great final couple of minutes.

robinson/kojima. really solid with a good finish. i think the only other juice match i've ever seen was the kevin owens debut match at that one takeover.

zsj/tanahashi. having it 6th feels incredibly weird cause it was a really great match, but there were things in the other matches that made me make audible noises of joy, so they just edge this out. i appreciate it, but i'm a sucker for high spots.

    finally watched night 4.

kojima/yano - yano match. for a yano match, pretty fun.

juice/EVIL - juice and EVIL are both doing well this tournament. really good match, lots of energy. juice is a guy whose matches i'm particularly looking forward to this tournament and he's delivering.

sanada/suzuki - suzuki has been a disappointment for me so far this tournament. though i should really rewatch the omega match. he still does lots of cool stuff and works his character really well, but his matches just aren't coming together for me, this included. it was fine.

omega/tonga - not bad. one of the more skippable matches of the tournament so far.

okada/elgin - this match didn't really grab me until the finishing run but what a finishing run it was. elgin hitting those two hellacious lariats followed by the powerbomb nearfall that the crowd 100% bought is probably the best moment in any match of the tournament. i do wish okada would stop doing the short arm clothelines as a prelude to the rainmaker in every big match though, when he first did them it felt huge, now it's just expected. should save them for only the biggest matches, the wrist clutch spot too. but, anyway, awesome finishing stretch. match would have been better with 5 or more minutes shaved off.

the 2014 match at power struggle is the best. that one got lots of MOTY hype at the time.

I've been impressed with Ibushi's ability to pretty much have a different type of match, somewhat based off the opponent he's gone up against.

    DAY FIVE

sabre/yoshi-hashi - good match. drags a bit toward the middle. yoshi-hashi hits an awesome lariat and the ending submission looks great.

nagata/tanahashi - heel tanahashi is always fun. this was good, not as good as it's being hyped though. the slap exchanges were nice.

naito/fale - it was fine. i didn't get too into this.

ishii/ibushi - i love ishii/ibushi as a match up and this ruled. tons of awesome stuff and the hottest the crowd got all night. probably my #3 match of the tournament so far.

goto/makabe - didn't dig this one too much. the last minute or two leading to the end was good though.

yeah, i'm sick of him. kenny, nowadays, does a lot of shit cornette thinks is missing from modern wrestling, but is just so stuck on the joke shit. i think he's literally the only person around that doesn't respect what kenny omega has accomplished this past year.

    DAY SIX

elgin/kojima - good hard hitting affair.

tama/EVIL - i like how they heelishly agree to start the match on the outside. back inside it's a lot better than i expected, good match with a nice finishing sequence.

suzuki/juice - juice is a selling machine here. awesome performance. i do feel like this match was the straw that broke the camels back for me being beyond over the long count out tease spots, though i know there are many straws still to come. juice just rules here. very good once they get back in the ring.

yano/omega - super fun comedy match. full on comedy match and kenny embraces it. enjoyed it a lot.

sanada/okada - sort of a generic NJPW style main event match. nothing special but fine. that drop down dragon sleeper NEVER looks good and sanada's tie up dropkick spot should not be happening in big singles matches.

    watched day 8 live

tama/juice - juice rules. he's still selling the leg and his facial expressions are full of struggle and determination. juice was awesome in this match and it was very good.

sanada/yano - short yano match with a great ending.

EVIL/suzuki - i'm beyond tired of suzuki's schtick. although in this match the interference spot was actually executed well and the finish stuff right after was good. but long countout teases and outside interference needs to be banned from njpw forever now.

okada/kojima - okada goes heel HARD in this match and it's awesome. crowd is totally pro-kojima. crowd got super into this match and it was a ton of fun. i liked this a lot.

elgin/omega - it's the match you expect from these two. WAY too long. and the kickouts, i mean, they're really devaluing big moves. whatever. it was fine. WAY too long. in the old g1 format this match would have been a compact 12-15 minutes and much better.

    finished day 7. CAUGHT UP.

    ishii/yoshi-hashi - good mid card g1 match.

sabre/fale - i liked this. something different. sabre keeps trying to grab submissions off the bigger man and catches him in a roll-up. crowd was very respectful to this match though.

makabe/ibushi - maybe the weakest match of the tournament. didn't care for this at all.

nagata/naito - at one point nagata gets pissed off and unloads on naito, and everything after that point is awesome.

tanahashi/goto - boring in the beginning, gets better toward the end. fine enough.

    top 5 matches so far

    1. ibushi/naito
    2. ibushi/sabre
    3. ibushi/ishii
    4. sabre/tanahashi
    5. kojima/okada

So, from what I am seeing and hearing, Ibushi is the MVP of this tournament?

Is it possible he will face Kenny Omega?

I've loved pretty much any match Ibushi has been in. I'm torn between the matches he had with Naito and Ishii as to which one I liked more.

Omega and Ibushi are in different blocks so they'd both have to win their blocks in order to get that fun matchup.

DAY NINE. can i get caught up tomorrow?

nagata/makabe - this match got pretty damn good toward the end thanks mostly to nagata. i would much rather this were makabe's last g1.

ibushi/fale - another best fale match ever candidate. this ruled. great big man/little man match and great work from both guys. all of ibushi's big spots were great.

sabre/goto - very good match, lots of cool stuff. these guys matched up really well here.

tanahashi/yoshi-hashi - this was fine. didn't really draw me in.

ishii/naito - ishii no-sold a freaking destino and immediately got up and started doing spots? sorry, this is too much. pretty boilerplate match from these two, but plenty in it to like. but that no sell spot, geez. the first destino spot was no good too. again, i'd really have liked to see these guys have a compact 12-15 minute match for something different in their series.

maybe the best day other than day 1.

took me forever thanks to a shitty work schedule, but watched day three, finally. skipped tanahashi/fale cause on a completely superficial level i have no interest in watching a fale match.

    new rankings...

    1. zsj vs ibushi 7/21
    2. omega vs suzuki 7/20
    3. naito vs ibushi 7/17
    4. sanada vs evil 7/20
    5. iishi vs goto 7/17
    6.goto vs nagata 7/21
    7. robinson vs kojima 7/20
    8. zsj vs tanahasi 7/17
    9. iishi vs makabe 7/21
    10. naito vs yoshi-hashi 7/21

sabre vs ibushi was fantastic. sabre was working his ass off. his selling of ibushi's first few quick offensive strikes, that kick block and chop especially, were great. i haven't seen a ton of sabre matches, and was always a bit underwhelmed. clearly technically amazing, but just never feel as invested as i want to be, which is why the tanahashi match ranks as low as it does for me. going in, did not expect this to resonate with me as much as it did.

yugi nagata is a name i've known for 19 years thanks to his inclusion in wcw/nwo revenge for the n64. and this could possibly have been the first match of his i've ever seen, outside of maybe a multi-man match over the last two years or so. once the 'disrespect' angle started to play out, the match really ramped up. loved a lot of nagata's facials. i'm sure given his age and length of his career that he's racked up a lot of injuries, wear and tear, so i'm not sure how much of it was intentional 'story telling' or selling, but times during the match where it seemed like he had to take an extra second to rev up for a move dragged me into the emotion of the match so much. very enjoyable and i'm looking forward to him facing tanahashi and naito.

makabe vs iishi was alright. given how much i enjoy big bastards running into each other, and how i remember really liking their wk9 match when i watched it live two and a half years ago, i didn't expect to be so meh on this. i signed up to njpw world not too long after the battle of the super juniors concluded, and i watched a handful of the better reviewed matches from that tournament. i've been keeping a running ranking of every njpw match i watch, and this iishi/makabe match was the first g1 to slip below my top ranked botsj match(the final). not really relevant to anyone or anything but me, but whatever.

naito vs yoshi-hashi. ehhhhh. this became the second match to drop below the final of the super juniors as well as kushida/taguchi from that tournament, making it the lowest rated g1 match for me, so far. yoshi-hashi just looked sloppy, at times, and even naito couldn't keep me interested for long.

fale is having a hell of a tournament. he's not having NJPW workrate matches but he's had plenty of enjoyable matches. i liked fale/tanahashi a lot. fale/ibushi is one not to skip too.

Juice is a guy who is definitely going to make a name for himself in New Japan more and more over time. Seems like he's really endearing himself there.

    DAY TEN

EVIL/yano - evil wins in a couple minutes. short, which some yano matches need to be.

tonga/suzuki - tama ambushes suzuki during his entrance and they brawl through the crowd for most of the match. fine for something different.

sanada/elgin - the drawing of elgin a little girl was holding during his entrance was the highlight of the show. average match. ending was cool in theory, except that sanada's dragon sleeper is awful.

omega/kojima - they had a good last couple minutes. too long.

okada/juice - this got good toward the end. somewhat disappointing.

    relatively weak night.

Seen it all up to date and am enjoying it greatly. Lots of opinions on who is doing best, I think that's a sure sign most of them are doing good stuff.

    General ratings for me
    4.5 Ishii-Nagata, Elgin-Omega, Naito-Ishii

    4.25 Kojima-Juice, Ibushi-Naito, Ishii-Ibushi, Ibushi-Tanahashi

    4 EVIL-Sanada, Goto-Nagata, Nagata-Tanahashi, Okada-Elgin, Okada-SANADA, Tanahashi-Fale, Nagata-Naito, Goto-Tanahashi, Makabe-Nagata

    DUD Omega-EVIL, Suzuki-Tonga

lot of matches get better than 3. Nagata is my MVP thus far. the only match of his so far not 4+ was his opener against YOSHIHASH (3.75). only 5 wrestlers yet to better 4* for me

    - Sabre Jr. (not a fan of his pantomime submisison style and find him hard to take seriously as a heavyweight)
    - YOSHIHASHI (he tries but he is an aesthetic nightmare)
    - Suzuki (has genuinely stunk this tournament)
    - Tama Tonga (is putting it together much better...will crack the ceiling soon)
    - Yano (going to be hard as a comedy guy, good at what he does)

    DAY 11

yoshi-hashi/fale - i didn't care for this much, but the ending was good.

makabe/sabre - this was okay. didn't make much of an impression on me.

nagata/ishii - this is more like this. they beat the shit out of each other for the whole match. this was great. they had an even better match of the same style i think in the 2014 g1.

goto/naito - these last two matches i actually caught live the day it aired. i remember thinking this was good.

tanahashi/ibushi - this was great. really well worked NJPW main event style match with an awesome ending and some great spots. i still feel like ibushi/tanahashi is a match up waiting to produce a really great match that hasn't happened yet. both this and their 2015 matches were really, really good, but neither got to the next level. feels like it should be a major dome match one day.

caught the last three matches live today

goto/yoshi-hashi - fine. average. made no impression.

naito/sabre - sort of disappointing. pretty good but with sabre's performances against top guys this tournament i was expecting something more exceptional.

makabe/tanahashi - bored the pants off me, though there was one cool spot where tanahashi skinned the cat into a german suplex off the second rope.

    lots of mediocre matches lately.

is it just me or are the crowds pretty lame this tournament, with a hot crowd being the exception on maybe 2 or 3 shows? meltzer keeps talking about how all the crowds have been so hot ... am i going insane? they seem exceptionally quite on average compared to past g1s.

The Day 12 match between Evil and Omega was something. The ending was a little uncomfortable. Either it was world-class selling or Evil was clearly out and they had to finish it or they at least disregarded it and just finished it regularly, with Evil just out of it.

think the crowds have been mostly good, today I felt that they were mic'd down, same as an earlier day. Nagata did this thing and with headphones up loud the crowd sounded dense and fully-enthusiastic, but not loud, if you get me?

day 13 was one of my favourite days top to bottom. very little out of ring brawling too. Ishii-Fale a real treat, would drop 4 on that and Naito-Sabre making it 16 guys with a 4* match or better!

juice/sanada - fine. didn't care much for it. sanada's sleeper never looks good.

elgin/yano - short and fun for a yano match, and a DQ ending!

kojima/suzuki - this sucked. too much bullshit. suzuki-gun needs to end.

    okada/tama - fine.

EVIL/omega - i liked this a lot. it was a welcome change of pace from the recent matches, lots of spots around tables/chairs in the first half of the match leading to a big table spot and a really great finishing stretch from there. ending was quite a spectacle.

If it wasn't obvious who was winning this thing before it is a foregone conclusion after today's show.

    EVIL beat Okada.

Meaning EVIL is challenging Okada for the title. Also Ishii beat Naito. So that tells you they're doing the #2 guy in Chaos vs Naito and the #2 guy in LIJ vs Okada to lead to Okada vs Naito at the Dome.

good day 14 from OSAKA, gonna go 4.25 for EVIL-Okada and 4 for Kojima-SANADA. Gedo's booking came real good today.

    finishing day 13

nagata/ibushi - very good. mostly strike-based match, good intensity, some good spots. i don't like how they re-did the ending from the tanahashi match though. that should be an ending for special occasions, big matches. this is a problem in general in NJPW right now, using endings that should be special -- like okada's short arm clothesline/german suplex rainmaker spot, or naito hitting a variation of the destino for a kickout followed by the traditional destino for a pin -- in regular matches.

ishii/fale - this got real good toward the end. ishii going to submissions was cool.

i don't think either of these matches had a countout spot. miraculous.

    day 14

tama/yano - this is the appropriate use of tama tonga. fun short match.

sanada/kojima - really good match. ending was great.

elgin/suzuki - the suzuki-gun bullshit is the worst, but if you're going to do it, it was done relatively well in this match. elgin is a good foil for that sort of thing. when elgin and suzuki actually wrestled it seemed like they could have a very good match. suzuki is probably still great, the gimmick is dragging him down big time, he's been one of the worst parts of this tournament because of it.

juice/omega - this was great. juice rules and the post-match is AWESOME. one of the best matches of the tournament.

okada/EVIL - very good. i really liked EVIL deciding not to get the countout win when he had it in the bag. great ending and crowd reaction.

this was a very good show. CAUGHT UP.

would go 4 for Tacos-Ibushi and 4.5 for Ishii-Tanahashi, though don't write off Nagata-Sabre Jr. from day 15. Tacos' effort ensures 17 of the 20 have a 4* or better match, with Yano, Suzuki, and Tonga yet to register one. Suzuki has a good shot on Tuesday against Okada on home turf.

    day 15

nagata/sabre - NAGATA WINS! this was a very good match, they build it around both guys working each others arms and have a great finishing stretch.

yoshi-hashi/ibushi - this took me a while to get into but ended up being pretty good.

fale/goto - this was alright. goto has been underwhelming this tournament after making it to the finals last year.

makabe/naito - these two actually had an awesome match at the 2014 g1. there's a question, what is makabe's best match? this wasn't so good, though did finish with a good couple minutes.

ishii/tanahashi - their 2013 g1 match is a big personal favorite of mine. this wasn't close to that, but was still very good.

    tama/kojima - this was fine.

juice/yano - one of the more fun yano matches of the tournament.

EVIL/eglin - this was awesome. great slug fest.

sanada/omega - this was pretty average, though the finish was great. i think omega struggles to have good matches that aren't epic balls to the wall main events, and sanada is several steps behind where you need to be in the ring to be a top NJPW wrestler.

okada/suzuki - this was great. they get rid of suzuki-gun early and WOW, suzuki has a great match! suzuki-gun is THE worst thing in wrestling, suzuki would be having tons of great matches but they ruin almost all of them. well, this ruled, especially towards the end when they start slapping the shit out of each other. like the last 5+ minutes of the match are basically all slaps, and it's great. draw finish.

would go ***** on that main. the real Suzuki steps up. just wow.

unfair on SANADA there imo. he's a good worker but he just needs to put this version of his act together. after spells in a bad All Japan, a bad Wrestle-1, a bad TNA, and a Big Japan that probably wanted something harder, he's having to re-assemble himself for the 5th time. he has various bits and pieces. I mean Kenny was doing that dumb af ripcord chainsaw arm thing not much more than a year ago.

i don't think suzuki/okada was really a MOTYC quality match, but it was great and while i thought their title match this year felt every bit of the 40+ minutes it was, this went by really fast for 30.
