    Your Fantasy Films

Does that tile sound like we're pitching pornos? 'Cuz you can if you want.

Anyway, was thinking about starting this thread before Christmas and never did. Then i read this post...

The whole movie is just the soldier trying to get home while traversing the ruins of LA, chased by a T100.

Directed by Winding Refn, rated R, done on a budget like $30 million. Soundtrack by CHVRCHES.

Basically, a game of cat and mouse.

Basically it would take place in 2025, and it'd be like Enemy at the Gates where they're hunting an infamous scout.

Minimalistic cast. You have the squad, and that's it. No romance, if there's a female soldier. Do some world building about the state of the world, like Mad Max, by showing us, not telling us outright: what they do to feed themselves, how water is acquired, power is created, equipment and vehicles maintained. Show training facilities of how the Resistance is trained.
...and figured I should get off my ass about it.

So, pitch your dream film ideas. Maybe you've got a favorite book or comic that you want made into a movie. Maybe you want a remake or reboot of a beloved franchise. Maybe your favorite thing got turned into a shitty movie and you know you could have done it better. Maybe you've got a killer original idea for a movie. Full creative control is yours, let's see what you have in mind. Director, cast, you pick all that stuff if you want.

I've got a couple of ideas but need to go to bed. I trust you creative movie-loving bastards can get this thing rolling...

I always wanted to see a movie about D.B. Cooper done in the style of David Fincher's 'Zodiac'. So the film follows the detectives on the case rather than D.B. Cooper himself.

You just have to read the Wikipedia article on all the suspects that could have been Cooper. Plenty of material there.

Two ideas that inspired me to make this thread:

    Frankenstein
I'm a massive Frankenstein guy so I've got some ideas for my own ideal film version of the story. Guillermo Del Toro had some rumblings about making a Frankenstein movie several years back but I think it's well past happening now. He wouldn't be a bad pick to helm it. Christopher Nolan or Darren Aronofsky also come to mind (I'll admit I don't know a lot of directors).
As for the cast, Mickey Rourke would be my creature. I think he could do a damn fine job as a more novel-accurate creature, something like Rory Kinnear's Creature on Penny Dreadful, intelligent, tortured, heart of a poet, there was something in his role in The Wrestler that seems to fit. Physically, I always thought The Great Khali was perfect (see the photoshop job above), as the creature is 8 feet tall in the book, so I'd use some movie magic to map Rourke onto Khali.
As for Victor, I'll admit I'm again a bit ignorant on options, don't know a lot of young actors out there. If James McAvoy wasn't already Victor Frankenstein in the movie of the same name, he'd be a good pick. I was thinking maybe I'd try someone a little unexpected like Michael Cera.
I'd like it to stick pretty on point with the plot of the novel but I also think I'd like to do something to make it fresh, so I thought maybe of keeping the major plot points the same but setting it in modern times (not that that is overly original). Would have to rework a few scenes to make them work two centuries later.

    Usagi Yojimbo
The critically acclaimed epic saga centering around wandering ronin Myamoto Usagi who some may recognize from appearances with the TMNT. I suppose the problem now is Kung Fu Panda's a thing and it'd be hard not to draw comparisons despite this comic being around for over a decade before it. It's got samurai, ninja, mystical shit, demons, legit Japanese history and folklore in the mix, and is heavily influenced by Japanese cinema. I'd love to see traditional 2D animation to stand out from all the 3D stuff that's the only thing out there now. I had the idea of going more artistic with it, giving it a "moving paintings" feel, like it's a watercolor painting come to life, so everything has the feel of classic ink/watercolor Japanese artwork.

idk if this counts but my biggest movie fantasy is replacing Hayden Christensen with Jude Law in the Star Wars prequels. would have made them so much more enjoyable. I can't explain why exactly but I just think Jude would have been perfect as Annakin.

Jude Law must be ten years older than Hayden Christensen. He was too old for that role man.

I've always wanted to see an adaptation of Ben Elton's This Other Eden

Right before Mel Gibson had his meltdown and became persona non grata in Hollywood, he was set to star in a movie adaptation of "Under and Alone" as Billy Queen. Would have been great. The book is very interesting and I've wanted to see a movie version of it since I picked it up years ago. Still holding out hope that somebody will option the book and make it properly.

I think I'd go for a better version of Girl Interrupted. It used to be my favorite as a teen, but rewatching years later I didn't like it nearly as much. I'd still keep Angelina (my girlfriend) in there, but I would make it more gritty. For some reason I forgot it was rated "R" but it just didn't seem as good to me as the book, although I admit I haven't read the book in a while.

That film was a lot less sexy than the title led me to believe.

Resident evil done right. Not a glorified action film, but a quality suspenseful horror, with the feel of Alien, for example.

Cast it correctly, as well. Miles Teller as Chris, Nicholas Hoult as Wesker and Emilia Clarke or Cara Delevingne as Jill.

If done right, a proper Resident Evil film could be pretty incredible.

Being a super fan of Resident Evil, no fucking way in Hell would I personally allow any of those people in a Resident Evil movie. Miles at Chris Redfield? Miles looks like a 13 year old. Hoult as Wesker? Wesker's like 40-50 years old. Clarke as Jill wouldn't be horrible but Cara can't even act so no way do you put her as the lead in this series.

But you are right on about a proper Resident Evil movie. Now, we have to respect that pretty much only a small % of those games were like the first one. Everything after was pretty much a shoot 'em up style game. So it was like every movie was more like ALIENS than Alien, which IMO, the first movie should have been more like an Alien type movie or even Silent Hill for example which I thought was a great movie. It was more what I thought the first RE movie should have been as opposed to what we got.

Sorry dude I know this is all fantasy but Miles Teller can eat a dick. Although I did like him in the little bit I saw of the drummer movie.

I want to see Spawn done right. That was my comic book growing up, and even as a kid I knew the 1997 movie was a horrible film. Just top to bottom, all bad. I remember sitting there watching the motorcycle chase scene and thinking... "This ain't Spawn." When I picture a Spawn film, I picture it as a combination of Predator, Se7en, and Mothman Prophecies. Todd McFarlane has said he wants to direct the Spawn reboot, but I know he's not qualified for it. If we were to get a Spawn movie done right, all would be right in the world for me.

    Teller is great dude.

Who would you cast? Just for fun, not as some defensive rebuttal. LOL.

haha, oh yeah man again I didn't mean for that post to be the way it was. Sounded too much like the shit was actually happening.

For Chris? Honestly? Maybe Sam Worthington from Terminator and Avatar. Similar build, face, I could see him pulling off the RE5 Chris look.

You know who I think just got shit on in those movies? Leon. Leon kind of took over as the main guy for quite a few games and he had what, one appearance and it was like he was just another dude like Barry. Wesker, whoever they had in those movies I felt was perfect, dude looked like him, the voice fit even though it wasn't as low as in the games.

I've always wondered why they decided to create a completely new, non-game character in Alice as the lead role beyond the obvious-fresh storylines to work with. Like Darryl in the Walking Dead not being a comic book character, so it opens up a lot but IMO I think that it also hindered the movies by making key figures from the games such minor players in the movies. Jill, Claire, Leon, 3 of the main characters of the games reduced to a handful of lines and camera time.

Man, they took that entire series and fucked it in the ass without lube. Terrible. It felt like they needed to create a dominant, on screen female character, so they sat around, brainstormed and decided to make the one potential great video game series into a steaming pile of shit in order to accomplish their goal.

They really need to reboot and try again, hopefully this time with a little less budget. I would like to see Craig Zahler get a shot at directing a RE movie. Just a random example, but it could work. Low budget director with a ton of creativity out to prove themselves.

The only thing is, they've done so many of those movies they need to wait about 5-6 years before bringing it back and I'd love for it to be more horror thriller than horror action gore.

Impossible forever now, but - Batman vs. Predator. Preferably with Keaton Batman. Get a director who can handle the superhero and horror film elements. I just loved the idea of a big brawl with Bruce, cops, helicopters, etc. vs. yautja in a crime-infested Gotham. I'd be all in for it.

Star Wars prequel trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy remade, they were both ass and huge disappointments. Not a movie since it would be impossible to contain in a movie or even trilogy, but a GoT style series of The Silmarillion would be really nice. Won't happen as long as Christopher Tolkien is alive and possibly even after that as well.

Just a Vin Diesel and The Rock action movie, where all of the cars are sentient and animated by Pixar...

An idea that's been growing through my mind for a couple of years:

Instead of 'A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...', how about 'Right here, right now...'.

A wounded Jedi, in pursuit by a great Sith warrior, has traversed many galaxies to reach this planet called Earth.
On this tiny planet he meets a group of outcast children who seem to have Jedi like powers.

    It's one simple idea.
I hope some day somebody takes this concept and writes a fun book about it. Then the movie will be awesome and full of nostalgia and 'what if' scenarios.

Just found out one of the best books I've read in a while is going into production this summer. The Cartel, by Don Winslow. I'm interested to see how it's done because it's a pretty epic book. I'd rather they have made the prequel, The Power of the Dog, first because I found it to be a much more intriguing cast of characters, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. No word on actors yet but it's going to have to be a diverse cast.

I'd love to see Cliff Curtis as the head of the cartel, who gets out of prison to rebuild his fractured empire.

A great Jaws sequel. I have no idea what a good story would be the best hope of redeeming the franchise would now rest in the hands of Dreyfuss and Spielberg, neither of whom I'm sure would be particularly willing to do so. Oh, and I'd change things up a bit with having more than one shark by having several species of sharks involved. I'm not talking SyFy or Megashark vs. Giant Octopus, more Jurassic Park meets Jaws.

Leave Jaws alone. That's a perfect film. Just leave it alone.

Plenty of terrifying things in the ocean, though.

I don't see why any director shouldn't be able to make another decent Jaws movie. I doubt it will happen though.

There's a movie called Meg coming out next summer. It's about the Megalodon shark, the great white's 80 foot long ancestor.

Basic premise is that they didn't go extinct as believed and a few have been living in the deepest parts of the ocean. Some guy accidentally draws one to the surface and it runs amok. Not quite Jaws in that it doesn't terrorize one specific beach town. The book series is great so I have high hopes for the movie.
