End of Days always look impressive. But with Corbin being on Talking Smack later, they better give him a different opponent moving forward.

Wow, Ellsworth's almost as over as Goldberg. Now that I think about it, Ellsworth vs. Gillberg at 'Mania is something that needs to happen.

So Dean can be a Guest Ring Announcer, Timekeeper, and commentator tonight. He's taking too much focus away from Ellsworth and his new found fame.

The Colorado crowds have been great. They're vocal, but they don't try to make the show about themselves.

Will Dean distract AJ on the outside long enough for him to get counted out, giving Ellsworth another victory over the champ, but the champ retains as he can only lose the belt on pin or submission? Leaving Ellsworth undefeated on SD! Please.

Glad they didn't run this angle into the ground (yet). Nice job making it seem fresh, realizing they have something the crowd is into with Ellsworth.

I don't think this is making AJ into a joke, but given the WWE's track record I'd say they narrowly missed it - by the hair on Ellsworth's chinless chinny chin chinless face..

That was a good SD. Better opening and closing half hours than the middle hour. Women's match was really good. Tag match was good. Main event was 100 percent pure unadulterated Ellsworth.

    Smackdown gets a 7/10

    ------------

    Raw vs SD

Raw had an epic opening match, JericOwens nearly breaking up, and oh yeah Goldberg.

SD had a tremendous women's match and Ellsworth.

It was closer than you might think.

    This week's winner...

It's the top face (currently Ambrose) embarrassing the heel champion through shenanigans...
James Ellsworth is just a prop in all of this...

It's really about Ambrose vs. Styles, and Dean Ambrose pissing off AJ Styles more and more...

Seriously, I usually hate when WWE attempts comedy, but that was legitimately entertaining. All three men were clearly having fun, so what's the harm?

I don't think Ellsworth was clearly having fun - he sells so well, he looked out of it a coupla times (especially after they kept throwing him out and back into the ring).

I think Smackdown was better than Raw again this week - not by a wide margin, but for overall entertainment purposes.

Granted I didn't watch RAW because.. why waste my time? But reading the results, it was an okay show but with Goldberg. I personally, never cared for Goldberg so whatever. I think that's why people liked RAW because they like Goldberg.

And I got home late today so I only caught the 2nd hour of Smackdown. I'll go back and watch the 1st hour when I get a chance but I was thoroughly entertained for an hour. So there's that.

I don't actually consider myself a Goldberg fan. But that moment was huge and that promo was riveting. Shit like that happens maybe once a year in wrestling. It made for a very special ending to Raw.

I mean I understand that but at least AJ could have gotten the upper hand on Dean this week he's looked like an idiot 2 weeks in a row. Good for no chin music though, just do it against someone other than AJ and I'll be happy.

I never was a Goldberg fan either, as I only watched WWE, never WCW. Sure, I was aware of his appeal/following, but by the time he made it to WWE, it was already too late, as it was already too clear that Vince would only push WWE guys. Goldberg consistently said never say never, but now it seems to me this run is only for his kid to get to see him perform in the ring. And I have no problem with that, good for him if they came up with a number they both agreed to. But don't forget how bad the crowd shit on those 2 at mania.

Because of that, despite the terrific promo from Goldberg on Raw, I still find it meh.

On the other hand, SD was solid all around, and being a shorter program it was easier not to fall asleep.

I mean, AJ is probably keeping the title so he can afford to look a little silly.

And honestly he didn't look like a joke at all. Dean looked silly, Ellsworth always looks silly. AJ looked like a dominant champ that was allowed to be distracted by the previously mentioned silliness.

Don't think so much. This stuff with Ellsworth isn't all that important. The crowd digs the guy and its something different. We're literally watching the highlight of a dudes life.

You think AJ is bothered by this? I think we both know the answer is no, he appears to be having as much fun as anyone

That finish was Dean Ambrose goading AJ about his weak soccer mom punches, and making AJ angry enough to forget about the referee's five count for a few seconds...

It's all part of Dean Ambrose's plan to make AJ as flustered as humanly possible before they face eachother, because an angry person makes mistakes...

Which is an angle I really enjoy seeing implemented here because it insinuates that Dean knows he needs an edge. He's lost to AJ. He's seen John Cena lose to AJ. Even in a triple threat against both himself and Cena, AJ still walked away with the title.

It's an angle that, while funny as hell to watch, proves that Ambrose isn't so sure he can beat AJ. That gives credit to the champion all while giving us somone to root for who isn't such a dick.

No need at the moment. With AJ reigning as heel supreme.

But the second he turns face or a face champ needs a fresh feud, I want to see Miz right back in contention again.

All good. I respect that. I guess I was going by the general consensus of others (not just here on Rajah). People were saying "Yeah! RAW was amazing! Goldberg!" while ignoring the fact that it was a okay RAW as usual. Even looking at the ratings, it's clear that the appearance of Goldberg helped.

And I didn't watch the promo either. I probably should find it on Youtube to see what you're talking about.

I am not so sure he thinks that. In his mind he had AJ beat each time but a low blow and Cena distraction costed him those matches. Even in the triple threat he didn't get pinned and had the match won until AJ pulled the ref out from the ring.

I would not be negative toward a Dean Ambrose/James Ellsworth tag title run down the road. There's something very Cactus Jack-Mikey Whipwreck going on between the 2 of them. Who knows, the big heel turn for Dean down the road could be turning on Ellsworth.

Naomi is someone who I would love to see get a serious push. I've been a fan of hers since the all women's NXT season, was that 4? She just seemed to really "get it" when she was in the ring.

What the fuck happened to Mike Mondo? Anyone remember him in ROH? He looked jacked but I do remember hearing he might have been fired for showing up drunk to a training session or something along those lines. Maybe he said fuck it and the last 2 years have been a real struggle for the guy. I really liked him in ROH, had a take no shit vibe.

What's up with Nattie? Is she about to pass the Big Show on turns in a 12 month span? The last time I gave a damn about her was when I thought they were going to have her come in during the whole 3-woman stable orgy the WWE were putting on. She was talking about how she felt left out of the whole "Divas Revolution" and I was like shit, have her just come in and wreck EVERYONE, heel, face, didn't matter. Just a bitter vet who worked hard to get what she has in the WWE. But now it's like, great, she's a fucking weirdo who has created an IG account for her cat and she's getting to plug it lol. It was disturbing last night to watch that segment as is pretty much anytime she's on t.v. no matter if it's wrestling, talking, it's always weird.

He was a Cornette guy through and through. Once Cornette got the boot, Mikey Mondo's clock started to run out. I hate this so much, I liked him in ROH.

I remember just a few weeks ago I listened to an old Wrestling Observer interview with Cornette and he praised Mondo in developmental. This was awhile ago because he was talking about Cena, Lesnar, Orton, Shelton, all these guys were still in developmental. But he had good things to say about Mondo very early on.

Speaking of Spirit Squad though.....Correct me if I'm wrong but was it CM Punk who was offered a spot on the Spirit Squad? I googled it and there's some stuff from OVW where they try to recruit him but I thought I read somewhere that the WWE wanted him to legit be part of it, I just wasn't sure if someone got their wires twisted. Fuck, imagine that shit, CM Punk as a male cheerleader.

Cornette invents cursewords he gets so angry.

"Then this dumbsquat nippletwist named Vince Russo starts working for the company. Let me tell you, he is a grade A can of fuckbutter. He has to be the dumbest fucking whorehole of a bitchbastard I've ever seen."

The Ellsworth thing has hit its peak. I'd rather just see them give a new jobber a go every week and piss off Styles because he wants a real match. If they have actual plans to keep Ellsworth around, Rhyno/Slater has worked, why can't Hawkins/Ellsworth too?

    Hawkins??????????????????????????????????????????? ?????

Hell no. Ellsworth is OVER. He needs to be treated as such and like I said, pair him up with Ambrose. They don't need to always be together but like I said, I'm feeling a Cactus Jack-Mikey Whipwreck type connection. I apologize if that goes over some people's heads who don't know what I'm talking about but if you have the Network or you can go on Youtube or read up online about their relationship in ECW.

The flipside to that though is that regardless if homeboy has been wrestling for 10, 12 years whatever, it wouldn't kill him to hit up NXT for a little while and then make his way back up. So I don't really know what the future holds for Ellsworth but they sure as shit didn't make a t-shirt of him just to never use him again. Would it hurt to just keep him on the main roster and like I said, have him be this dude who doesn't really get any offense and somehow pulls off wins with the help of his buddy Dean Ambrose? Why not....it was cool in ECW years ago when they did something similar with Mikey and Cactus and them winning the tag belts only for Cactus to turn on him and really get some awesome heat on Cactus. Imagine Dean turning on this poor guy. Ellsworth might be the most over face on Smackdown.

I do think he has hit his peak. It's definitely been a vehicle to get Styles riled up, which is the route Ambrose has decided to go this time around. I'm interested to see how they decide when to place the actual title match with Styles/Ambrose. Do they want to devalue the SS matches by not having these two in it, or do they want to have a definite grudge match there?

I want the Usos to win the tag-team title belts from Slater and Rhyno and then feud with Ambrose and Ellsworth, after having a fantastic run where they turn back the challenges of Slater and Rhyno, Randy Orton and Kane, Jack Swagger and Apollo Crews, and American Alpha. Until they finally fuck with Ambrose backstage one night. They tell Ambrose to get a partner and they'll put the belts up. Ambrose begs everybody to be his partner, but nobody wants anything to do with him. Finally, in the last segment before the main event you see Ambrose walk into John Cena's dressing room. The door closes and Ambrose walks out saying "Thanks, John." The announcers think that Ambrose and Cena are joining forces against the Usos. Ambrose hits the ring after the Usos and tells everybody that Cena couldn't do it, but that John reminded him of somebody he forgot to ask. Cue James Ellsworth. Ambrose is competitive with The Usos but every time Ellsworth is in there he gets wrecked. Eventually, after some shenanigans, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Uso #1, clobbers Uso #2 and Ellsworth manages to get the pin. Without landing a single offensive move the whole match.

It'd be a total modern day 2016 Cactus Jack/Mikey Whipwreck scenario, but it could be so much fun if they do it right.

So AJ asked for Dean next week, and DB said sure, but if Dean wins, Dean becomes the #1 contender. Does anybody else think there's a chance our tee-shirt man James Ellsworth will be the special guest referee?

If so, I could see Ellsworth unintentionally missing something since all refs are blind, AJ getting ticked off and beating Ellsworth, finally Ellsworth recovers to signal a DQ win for Ambrose, making Dean the # 1 contender.

All three guys have been playing their part really well in this story so far, I think they could pull this off without making it look super overly contrived (Dean especially has been playing terrific, with just enough of a wink to the crowd, to make this story compelling).

Spudz, I like your suggestion about an Ambrose/Ellsworth tag run, but I have to wonder if the WWE will be trying to milk the Ellsworthmania phenomenon too much first. I think the chants for Ellsworth were as loud as those for Goldberg the night before in the same arena. Because, at least for now, it is fun to play along since it is fresh. The WWE has been known to kill a good thing by overexposure, and I don't have a lot of faith that they won't ruin the fun with this one.

I bought my Ellsworth tee shirt. I haven't bought a WWE tee shirt since the "Evil. Indeed." shirt that Kai En Tai had years ago. Before that, I had an Austin 3:16 shirt and before that, the Hulkamania Running Wild shirt. My wife pointed out that each shirt is a size larger than the one before it, and that I should throw in a salad every now and then.

I think in order to avoid over-playing Ellsworth, he needs to get squashed, taken off TV, and only show up in small doses.

AJ Styles should ask for advice from Braun Strowman of how to dispose of James Ellsworth.

    Fake cheerleader to accountant.

He'll be making ridiculous money no doubt though.
