    FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

I think this is every official video available so far that should be checked out.

Set in Los Angeles, the series follows a male divorced teacher, a female guidance counselor, and her two children–a son and a daughter–in the zombie apocalypse.

I don't like The Walking Dead anyway but what a dumb title for a spin off. Don't we already fear them in the main series? Reminds me of The Dark Knight being sequeled by The Dark Knight Rises. Lame.

The titles not great, but they couldn't call it Rise of The Walking Dead, because I read somewhere that the show will catch up to the THE WALKING DEAD timeline by season 3 if it gets that far.

What else could they have called it?
    THE WALKING DEAD: LA?
    TWD: LOS ANGELES?
Not Rick Grimes The Walking Dead?

    I must admit.

I'm more curious about this spinoff than I am going into Season 6, that could all change with some more footage though.

When Kirkman says the show won't have any trees/woods/forests, etc...I mean its not much, but its fucking refreshing over the constant barrage of wooded areas we get in the main show. Its not much, but its something. That and no comic baggage. I don't care how much they shoot Canada for LA.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think its going to be something that tops the main show or is even half decent by comparison, but for now im curious. Its got two seasons greenlit, so at the very least if the ratings for the first season are abysmal. They have an extra season to flesh out the origins a bit before closing up shop.

It will be interesting to see if the main character will live past season one. Rick and now Darryl are virtually unkillable on the show. I am curious to see if he will do it as the big shocking death to set the stage that all the characters can die at any second.

I cannot wait for this show. They've done a great job casting, they've put the show in a different environment to the rural south and we get to go back and watch people learn to survive in this world again.

The thing about TWD is that Rick and his group have gotten so good at protecting themselves from walkers that humans are now far more dangerous. It will be fun to go back to a time when the walkers were the real threat.

They should do a zombie apocalypse show where they take out all of the zombies, so it's just a bunch of people who think there are zombies...

    Like Garfield minus Garfield...
    Only with zombies...

Just redub "Finding Bigfoot", so the dialogue is about zombies.

Anthology walking dead? It could be fun. But the best part of the show for me is watching these characters on their journey. Rick isn't even the same person anymore. To the point that he had got to start getting back in touch with humanity so as to maintain trust from others.

This title sounds like a youtube clip of somebody watching "The Walking Dead" and having a scared reaction.

All I really want from this show are some answers to the questions people have had during the run of TWD.

How have other parts of the country survived?
    How did this start?
    What happened to the government?
    Has this affected other countries?

I don't think I want to know how it happened. I think it's better left unsaid to keep it a mystery. I mean, obviously we know the government had something to do with it right? That was more than implied during the CDC episodes and Rick's reveal before the prison.

I don't want to know specifics on the start either because there's no way it couldn't disappoint.

It could be as simple as them saying they accidentally let the shit out, and most of us still wouldn't be happy with the explanation. Or some wild ass story that the Government was trying to do some kind of population control with out really knowing what the outcome was going to be, or they did, and said "fuck it, we'll be able to control it" and then it got out of hand while Rick was in his coma.

Or, after Season 12, we find out it was just a damn coma dream of Rick's.

None of that will make everybody happy.

Personally, I like the idea of not knowing what happened, and just keep it as is. The show is about survival while coping with walkers, to coping with walkers and other humans, to now at least humans are more of a threat than walkers.

Both shows can do that. Even though it may be repetitive to watch a whole new cast go through the same motions again, at least it's in a different area with different obstacles to deal with.

No need to know how it happened.

    I can see it now.

    Wesker! You bastard!

    Insert Evil Wesker laugh

'Tyrant breaks free and smacks Wesker'

Jill/Chris 'COME ON YOU VIRAL CULTURED TEST TUBE FREAK!!!'

I don't want my favorite Resident Evil games inserted into TWD via an Umbrella copycat story idea.

I am pretty sure how it happened will not be revealed on TV for a long time or it will be the series finale in a flashback.

I heard it is a crossover with jurrasic world. The dinosaurs made zombies due to a horrible million year old virus.

Humanity more or less dies, one infects the dinosaurs and then the dinosaurs die. Chris pratt saves the day and repopulates the earth by just looking at women.

I don't think there is going to be an aftershow. I'm pretty sure we lucked out getting one for the main show. Does any other series have an aftershow?

I enjoy Talking Dead very much and it's must see viewing for me. I just think personally, we'll probably not get an aftershow for FearTWD. I think it's a rare thing that we got one for TWD and it's success.

That's 1 season though, and it was Breaking Bad, so obviously it would have a built in audience. Not saying that FearTWD wouldn't have a built in audience, but it hasn't even aired yet to show if it warrants an aftershow. Did Talking Dead start with season 1. I honestly don't remember right now off the top of my head.

Guess I should have asked this way:

How many commercial tv shows have had an aftershow and how many succeeded if it had an aftershow?

I just really think we lucked out like I said earlier when we got an aftershow for TWD and it was a success.

    Just googled and got this:

The Talking Dead premiered on October 16, 2011, following the encore presentation of the second season premiere of The Walking Dead.

So Fear The Walking Dead is finally showing up on search mode. The first episode has an 1 1/2 hour time slot. There is no after show. There is however and 8 minute clip on demand with some footage and cast stuff.

If it does, it will probably just be called Talking Dead also. Or Fear The Talking Dead. Talking Fearing Walking Dead would be funny though!

I watched a 5 minute deal on AMC the other night about the show and I'm jacked up about it. I haven't really read about what the show is going to be about or anything in a while so I had forgotten the premise. Love it. This show plus the Evil Dead series on Starz are 2 new shows I'm mega excited for.

I am so goddamn hyped for this show. I haven't kept up too much with the date/time info, will this be running while TWD is in season at all or will TWD start once this show's season is over/at the mid-way resting point?

Walking Dead usually starts in October right? I would think this would be over by the time that starts. Unless the first season gets more than like 8 episodes.

It will be over by the time The Walking Dead starts it's 6th season in October. And it's been said that by the end of season 2 maybe into season 3, it will be caught up to TWD timeline wise.

I like the idea that this is showing everything that happened while Rick was in a coma, but on the other side of the country. And because we know what's going on already because of the CDC TWD storyline, it will be interesting to see different viewpoints on the whole thing from the beginning and the possibility of how this shit started. Although, I really don't want to know just yet, I like that we are still in the dark as to where and how the virus actually started.

I hope Kirkman sticks to his guns and doesn't disappoint everyone with an explanation of the virus's origins. Like the underlying WTF?! with Lost, we don't need to know every answer to enjoy the ride. Some tidbits and morsels like the CDC storyline, awesome, but a flat out explanation (whether in comics or TV), meh. I think TWD has moved beyond that to "what would they even do with that info if they figured it out?", but some speculation and theorizing in FTWD will put a nice new spin on things.

Anyone else been watching the season replays on AMC the last few Sundays? I have dipped in and out at various points and it made me miss the Governor so bad. The Farm, not so much.

    Very Resident Evilish vibe.

    Pretty good stuff.

I'm still waiting on a Resident Evil movie that remotely resembles the games.

I'd like to see a shot for shot game based RE movie. It could be a trilogy on the first 3 games.

    Puzzles, traps, enemies and all.

I've never seen the animated RE movies. Were they any good, do they follow more closely to the games?

Yeah, a sixth in the who-gives-a-shit series of movies is already being made. It'll probably be 5-10 years before they reboot it. Even then, there's a good chance that no one will care by that point.

The CGI RE movies are mindless fun, but they are more in line with the later games in the series than the earlier ones.

That's the funny thing. The games are perfect for movie adaptations. There is no real reason to fuck with them. You want a classic suspense/horror film then use the plot from the RE1, 2, 3 or 0. You want to make a kick ass action/horror movie then use the story from RE4. It would be better than the crap they've used for a story in most of the installments so far.

So did anyone catch this or was everyone watching SummerSlam?

I quite liked it. It was a very slow burn for 90 minutes, but I really like the vibe and seeing how people react to this shit. I'm a big fan of the actor playing Nick. Thought he did a very good job.

I enjoyed it a lot. I wasn't expecting it to be balls to the walls first episode. It did it's job to create the story that's about to unfold.

Also, Talking Dead prior was ok. Gimple was trying too hard to be funny and it just fell flat most of the time. The clip they showed of the upcoming season of TWD was ok, but it was said they couldn't show anything else as it would have given away too much for this season.

There is a possibility that we will get an aftershow for FTWD if the fans really want it, but it won't be until next season if it gets greenlit. They are going to have a Talking Dead after the season 1 finale of FTWD though.

    I'll give it a solid 9.

Fear, the unknown, brand new characters, two great biter scenes.

Its a slow burn, but a great start.

What I don't grt is why the outbreak is taking so long? I mean it seemed to me that they teased Gloria probably got out of the church the day nick did and yet he was there for a few days, got out and another couple days passed. With the amount of people that die in LA per day and factor in how many the walkers get a hold of and I don't know how it seemed so contained.

I am hoping that fat kid with acne disappears for a while and shows up at the end of the season as a bad ass walker killer just to simply tell that one girl...I told you so.

It's LA. I don't know the numbers, but I assume that the number of homeless people is gigantic and people don't care what's going on with them. Same with lower class areas.

It would have to be something major for it to finally hit home that something is wrong, and that deal on the off ramp was the start of "oh shit!" somethings wrong. Our main characters got a taste of it on the off ramp but didn't know quite what was going on yet, they did though the next day in the LA River!

Nick did not discover Gloria though until the day he ran out of there. He was only in the hospital for 2 days I'm assuming. By the end of the episode, the shit hits the fan. I was expecting a couple of episodes at least to fill out the characters while shit was going on around LA and other areas across the country before the shit really hit the fan.

It was a classic take on people not believing shit until it's too late. If a zombie outbreak really happened right now, how many people would not believe it before it was too late?

I think the statistic is around 200 peeps die per day in LA.

Just seems like the outbreak was very very slow here. Perhaps LA is where it originated from?

What did the acne kid say he heard? I'll have to rewatch the episode. I think off the top of my head, he said he heard about it happening in other areas. Don't know if he said LA, California to be exact, or other areas around the country.

I believe it was four different states, they don't know if it's a virus or what but people are killing people. When he's told the authorities would have told us, he goes, "Yeah... OK... Don't you go on Infowars?"

I'm totally on team Tobias. I think that's his name.

    LOVED IT.

This episode made sure to dwell on all the little things that humans will no longer have time for very shortly. Teenage angst, awkward feelings about "mom's new bf". All so we can watch the more meaningless aspects of everyday life be torn to shreds, literally, in front of our eyes over the course of the show.

I think that's spot on with the focusing on shit that just isn't going to matter soon when the world goes to hell.

I love the different tone this has. Very excited for the riots, the inevitable martial law, the anarchy that happens when the military and police can't deal and don't know what the fuck to do, all of that fun stuff while the walkers are really just in the background to everything else, until the OMG NO ZOMBIEZ crowd finally get their ZOMBIEZ.

I wonder if there'll be a moment that someone realizes you have to shoot them in the head.

In the Walking Dead universe, zombie movies and that shit doesn't exist, right? So that eliminates that plot hole.

Well Rick was only in that Coma for 30 days. So we have to assume that before very long, say the end of season two perhaps, they will be at where we started off with episode one of walking dead.

It will be quicker than that unless they start quarantining sections of the city or they start telling stories in flashbacks.

Edit producers do state it will be awhile before the show catches the begunning of twd so this show will have to literally go hour by hour.

Well there is only like six episodes this first season so that probably has a lot to do with it. Besides I want them to dwell in this first month or so of chaos. That's what we didn't get to see in TWD. The system slowly break down and dissolve. I like watching systems break down. It feels...right.

    Two quick thoughts.

    1. Robert Kirkman and Kevin Owens may be long lost brothers.

    2. I just looked at the air dates and when this show wraps their season The Walking Dead will begin the next week.

I think it was written very well overall and the cast was excellent. it may sound wierd to some but it seemed a little rushed to me though. I expected to not see as much zombie related stuff as we got. Did anyone else feel this way? I am looking forward to the next episode for sure.

I went into thinking we'd see no Zombie stuff and i wouldn't of minded it we didn't. Loved the first episode I was intregried as every 10 minutes passed not wanting it to end. Right away I love the people picked for the characters and all did a pretty good job.

I felt the same way Chris, I didn't want it to end, and it was a 90 minute episode. The next 5 episodes are gonna feel short now with them going back to normal 1 hour timeslots. Hope they don't feel rushed. I have a feeling if it doesn't go balls to the walls next episode, it will by the third and I hope it doesn't hurt the show.

Interesting start to the show. I wonder if TWD literally has a clause about the number of black men allowed. "Oh shit we have two and they might meet! Kill one, Kill it now before a nexus opens and swallows the universe!

All joking aside I'm digging the alternative setting. LA is a much different environment than Georgia and whereever the fuck the other cast is now. You have to put in work to get out of an urban area out here, the population density is so much worse too. Things are likely much, much worse for this crew than the other.

I believe. I remember when that whole bath salts thing happened a few years back and the police saved us from an epidemic through their swift actions. We should all be thanking them. It wasn't bath salts it a zombie apocalypse averted.

They also showed a dead white guy and a white zombie, but yeah two dead black guys off the bat and presumably another one who hasn't picked up his phone. Maybe he's just letting her off because she's moving 300 miles away and he doesn't have time for that shit.

Not enough Hispanics, though. Badly represented. It's LA FFS.

i really liked tonight's episode. was good building the eerie tension of knowing something terrible is about to happen but without anyone knowing what, or how. too bad the characters are so boring and uninteresting.

She offered for him to stay with her though.

Tonight's ep was good, the police bit was a bit much, but the rioting was spot on for LA.

2 weeks till next ep sucks balls!

I don't want to see Tobias again for the next four seasons. Then out of nowhere he needs to show up and save the day. Only now he's ripped and has an eye patch. He's super sexy and all the girls wanna fuck him.

    Yeah that'd be cool.

Great episode tonight. The fan is covered in shit.

So The Walking Dead has completely passed me by. I like the sound of this show. Would it be possible to jump in on this and "get" what's going on, or would that be mad considering I've only seen a handful of youtube videos of TWD?

You could watch this on its own just fine as it's a separate story from the main show, but you're not really going to get any sense of what makes TWD great from the 2 episodes of this show so far. TWD really doesn't even get good until halfway through season 2 and then it gets great.

I like this show better than The Walking Dead. It gives you a better idea of how everything went to shit. It was the hippy anti-cop protesters that contributed to the downfall in society.

The Walking Dead moved way too quick, but that is because when Rick woke up from his coma the zombie apocalypse was already in full-force.

I still don't know if I am sold on the leading cast though. They don't really have a Rick Grimes type protagonist to get behind, and that will become a problem if the pilot gets picked up for future seasons. Travis certainly does not cut it at the moment... although he did play Pablo Escobar in Blow which is pretty fucking funny.

Madison will probably be the star of the show in the end... but lets be honest, during a zombie apocalypse, you need a man to protect you... not some broad.

The show was already picked up for a 2 season run with Season 2 being 15 episodes to film early next year I wanna say.

I think this show has way more liberty than the main show, because its not handcuffed to the comics, or Rick, or Daryl, or Michonne, or Carol, etc. So that will allow for much more creative freedom and less pressure to be the big deal like the main show is.

That's what excites me the most. They can go anywhere with the show and treat it like an ensemble with no safe lead, like GOT almost.

I already find the 4 pilot characters a lot better than any of the Alexandrian characters except Aaron.

I just got caught up. I do think Tobias is the real star of the show. I wish I could care about the druggie brother, but I don't. He will probably become the Darryl character in a bizarre way. He already has the first big kill. The daughter is also a bit iffy. The rest is good. I like Nick being this guy who wants to be Dad of the year, but you know that he fucked up his marriage to bang Madison. Madison seems to have constant bitch face, but she is smart for the most part.

My great hope is we lose one of the kids. Don't care who really. The desert is an interesting destination. It would be cool to see zombies roaming Route 66.

They had better not go to the boring empty desert.

Nick is the druggie. Travis is the dad.

Watched the second episode last night at last. I'm really, really digging this right now. Such a good, different vibe from TWD.

Of course the characters are going to be boring to start, aside from Nick the druggie and Tobias the infowars subscriber. They're normal boring people just like the characters in TWD must have been when shit hit the fan, but now we're seeing what happens to people when shit does hit the fan, get a bit more backstory, and seeing Travis or Madison or Nick harden up is going to be all the more satisfying. Madison already has, obviously, and Nick is fighting through his shit and realizing he's not crazy, and Travis knows this shit is for real.

    I'm loving this so far.

I'm also happy that I feel like its free of the fucking nonsense that has become known as the TWD fandom.

It feels brand new, untainted, etc. No showrunners fired over petty shit, backstage politics leading to departures, etc.

The TWD fandom bugs the shit outta me because you almost never get an objective/grey opinion most of the time. Its always the greatest show ever with the best writing, or its the worst thing ever, no real middle ground, or at least the middle ground isn't seen that much.

FTWD feels free of that so far, of course if it becomes a big deal like the main show. That will probably all change.

It's only 2 episodes in of a 6 episode season. There hasn't been time for drama behind the scenes.

pretty good episode overall. the drive past the hospital into seeing the lights going out was very well done. one thing this show has done very well at times is capture a mysterious but tense feeling of impending doom that no yet understands.

Each episode just gets better. But this one didn't just build tension. It also finally started the process of how good people are going to have to change in order to survive. And posed the questions about if every zombie needs to die and are they still who they were. Clearly some people are still in "Hershel's barn" mode while others have begun to realize what's really going on.

The military is here. Now things really go to shit. This is so much fun.

I enjoyed it. It kept some parts slow, but hit you with the intense shit at the right time. I also like how this group really came together out of necessity and opportunity.

I loved the bit with the neighbors taking their trash to the corner. Its cool that the audience is sort of in on everything before the characters are. While we may be well aware that before long curbside pickup will be a thing of the past, we witness these characters slowly come to grips with the fact that their old world is dying right in front of them. But they can't totally see it or comprehend what it really means.

Great episode. My only gripe was the "Previously on" beginning. I seriously doubt anyone forgot what happened only 2 episodes in. That time could have been used to build more tension with the fire next door. Good episode though.

I'm actually curious now how shit gets as bad as we know it does. It seems like the military does have a fairly decent handle on things. The only real question now being when did it become public knowledge that death=zombie no matter how you die? Otherwise without some other force kicking up they should be able to keep this reasonably locked down. But we know that's not what happens.

Unless it is. LA is a long way from Atlanta in the world with no planes, phones or radios and extremely limited gas. So I guess technically fro all we know the west coast could have held together a lot better than the South but. . .on the list of things I'm not betting on that's pretty near the top especially given what we learned from the CDC in Atlanta.

When the dude at the CDC told Rick "the secret" it seemed like it was something that hadn't been understood by the masses when there was still t.v. and shit. In other words it was news to Rick's group so we can probably assume the west coast group will have to learn it on their own as well.
