Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic match and the emotion is off the charts. An iconic moment for NXT and women's wrestling. But it's really botchy. I also really didn't like the finish. Have that finish in over time or have it by Sasha passing out, but not giving up with like two seconds on the clock.

Also going to YES Gable/Jordan vs Rhyno/Corbin. Corbin's best match and a really big match for Gable/Jordan too. Probably the best tag match of the year after New Day vs Kidd/Cesaro.

I can't say I feel the same way. It was a bit botchy, moreso than their last match, but I really only remember maybe three botches. Even so, the performance was so off the charts and the emotion and moment overrides the mechanics so much for me. And I know people aren't too huge on Sasha tapping out in the last few seconds, but I think it adds to the finish even more. It doesn't make Sasha look dumb, because it seemed like she would hold on until Bayley started kicking the shit out of her like Sasha's been doing to her in the last to matches. If they came to a draw, with no guarantee that there would be overtime, she still doesn't get the belt. And it's not like she could look at the clock while she was in the submission, so it was too much for her and she had to tap. It's about instinct, and when you've reached your pain threshold, your ready to give in and it's your natural reflex to do so. That said, I figured some people wouldn't really like this match in comparison to the last one, but I still feel this one edges it out on emotion and what I thought was a great finish.

    need to watch Bray/Roman again.

Yes to Brock/Taker III. There was some sloppiness, but it was overall a very satisfying contest for me.

I wasn't crazy about Reigns/Wyatt so it's a no from me. I felt like it was quite similar to Reigns/Show which others liked but I didn't. Apart from the table spots (which were good) what was there? Nice creativity with the chair and stick stuck in the cage and a cool Sister Abigail reversal. That was it for me with a lot of boring stuff in the middle. They only used the cage once too.

Really liked the main event so a yes to that. Wish they'd used the cage more but great drama, innovative finish and the right winner.

Big YES to both Cell matches! Roman/Bray was their best encounter yet with some intense spots, good drama, and a bit of creativity sprinkled in. Also made Wyatt look like a fucking monster. Taker/Lesnar was easily the best contest of their recent series and was fucking brutal. The ring getting ripped up was fresh. Don't think I've ever seen that happen in wrestling before. Very nice touch. Also really liked the post-match stuff even though it has no bearing on my vote.

I also want to give an honorable mention to Nikki/Charlotte. A bit sloppy at points and I have no clue what that top rope counter was supposed to be, but it was a strong contest that fell just a bit short of a yes to me. That Alabama Slam to the apron was brutal, and I loved the psychology of Charlotte's back being injured that they played to throughout the whole bout. Really, I think without that funky turnbuckle spot, I would have nominated it, but it really killed the momentum for me.

Yes to Taker vs Lesnar. Lesnar murdering a doctor was worth the price of the network this month. Then he ate the ring. What a spectacle.

I agree with Psycho666Soldier about Charlotte Flair vs Nikki Bella. I'm close to nominating it, because as a match it was overall very solid and a good length. But there was that top-rope thing, whatever it was meant to be, and the story of the match seemed to wobble all over the place and never matched up with the 'revolution' that's supposed to be happening now.

Decided to yes Bray/Reigns HIAC as well

Edit: Saw new things for September, so I'll Yes Rollins/Sting but no to Cena/Rollins from NOC

Reserving judgment on tonight's RAW matches. Cesaro/Owens was really good, but didn't seem like more than a great TV match as opposed to a great match in general. And I was fairly distracted during the Fatal 4-Way. But they were good enough that I'll watch 'em again to decide.

Nominating Reigns vs Cesaro from Raw, sweet match and one I preferred to Cesaro's two with Cena.

Obviously people will have seen Neville/Owens and Ziggler/Ambrose which are both good too and very close to being a yes from me. Other recommendations from the last couple of weeks: Sasha/Becky from Main Event last week and Ryback vs Kalisto from Smackdown last week. Both very good but not quite worth a yes.

Yeah the NXT match was better. But these two simply have great chemistry. It's hard not to vote for this match just based on how good it was all on it's own.

YES to Roman/Cesaro and Owens/Neville. The former was a main event caliber match that could have passed as a WWE Title match at a PPV(hint hint, WWE, make it happen some day). The latter was just an awesome showcase of Neville's abilities, Owens ruthlessness, and the ridiculous chemistry between the two. Definitely thought Reigns/Cesaro was stronger, but Neville/Owens could have surpassed it with a few more minutes.

They did a great job of disappointing on all fronts last night for this thread. Expected at least one candidate for the list. Instead, we got a good but not good enough semi-final, and a final that could have made the cut were it not left short and ended abruptly in favor of one of the worst possible endings to the show. The ladies had a chance to outshine everyone else with great time, but it fell flat and the crowd gave 0 fucks. Just a shame they couldn't pull something together that made the PPV feel worth it. Here's hoping TLC is miles better.

i'll nominate and YES ambrose/owens. the character work from owens was fantastic, he was brutal and dean played the scrappy babyface to perfection. they worked that top rope fisherman suplex without it being overly hokey in its set up. dean's slingshot lariat that he did hit was executed perfectly. the finish was fantastic, with dean taking kicks to the face and owens barrelling through trying to hit the pop up powerbomb and it cost him when dean pushed through the punishment and found his opening. to me, clearly the best worked match of the night and told the most natural feeling story.

Wasn't really sure what I thought about the ladder match. It was really fun with some good spots, and that Salida Del Sol was fucking epic, but it felt like the psychology was everywhere and some parts were a bit awkward. Need to watch again.

Definitely YES to the TLC match. I wasn't expecting them to deliver like that, and I honestly think they ended up having the best match of the night.

Massive YES to both the tag Title match and the WWE Title match from TLC. Both were bonkers and brutal and epic and all that good stuff.

Controversial opinion alert: I thought the street fight from Raw was the best match of the Sunday/Monday bouts. It was just bonkers and fun and shows the value of having something different to the norm with WWE's endless hours of weekly TV. It was violent and fast paced but not dangerous or ridiculous. So I'm nominating that.

As for the two ladder matches at TLC, I'm not sure. The first one was a spectacle of course and I thought everyone brought it. Would it make my top 25 at this point? Probably not. With Reigns/Sheamus, I thought it was decent but not great.

It's getting close to that time. In a couple more weeks, I will post the thread for the Top 25 Matches of 2015 and start accepting lists. The rules will be the same as usual, and maybe I'll be completely on time this year. Again, I'll be accepting requests for guest write-ups, which I will take now if you so please. Just let me know how many you are willing to do and a solid list of matches you would prefer to write about. Just keep in mind I call first dibs on certain matches I want to write about. So get to re-watching, re-analyzing and keep an eye out for end of the year highlights(like anything from NXT Takeover), because the time is dawning upon us.

I'm happy to do two or three reviews again. Any of these would be fun if they make it.

Brock Lesnar vs John Cena vs Seth Rollins (Royal Rumble)
Charlotte vs Sasha Banks vs Bayley vs Becky Lynch (NXT Rival)
Daniel Bryan vs Dolph Ziggler (Raw, March 30)
Kevin Owens vs Adrian Neville (NXT, February 18)
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro vs The New Day (Extreme Rules)
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro vs The New Day (Payback)

    YES to Asuka/Emma, Bayley/Nia and Joe/Finn.

Bayley/Nia was so much better than I thought it would be. Nia is still really green but the simplicity and execution of the storytelling was just great.

The tag match was close too. And Apollo/Corbin. Great show.

I'm actually re-watching Bayley/Nia for a second evaluation right now. Like you said, the story was wonderfully told, and the last 5 minutes really sold me. It's right on the cusp of a yes for me as it is, though.

Just looking at that list, the in ring stuff really is holding the product together at the moment. Over the year they've averaged about a match a week that is really worth going out of your way to watch. My list has taken a bit of shape but it's going to be really hard to cut it down.

Rewatched Sting/Trips last night and it really doesn't hold up very well. Great moment at the time for sure but on the rewatch? Not so much.

When I watched Sting v. Trips the 2nd time it just solidified why Sting should have won the match. I loved the stupid argument some had where it was "He won so he could look strong in the Rock segment that would lead to him v. The Rock".....Laughable. The reality was, Sting lost due to politics and since he's such a nice guy he had no issues even if he knew exactly why he was losing. It just made it worse knowing that he would get a World title shot without having a real win under his belt outside of that turd tag-match he was in on Raw....I enjoyed everything but the ending to that Mania match, the run-ins were a little weird (why was the nWo of all people helping Sting lol) but it was cool from a nostalgic point of view.

I have to disagree about Nia/Bayley. It was what it was but Nia is so green that she had really no business being in there. She doesn't look powerful, she's just "big". Luckily Bayley sold the fuck out of that match like she channeled the spirit of Mr. Perfect because again, Jax is just too green and hasn't really mastered her ability to work as a "big woman". Just a very sloppy match BUT it told a good story so that made up for the lackluster delivery.

I think you have the Finn Balor vs Owens match from Beast in the East and NXT Brooklyn a lot lower than they should be. For example, not sure how Bayley vs Nia Jax should be ahead of any of those matches. Samoa Joe vs Tomasso Ciampa being better than Joe vs Balor from Takeover London? Some of the rankings don't seem to make much sense.

I know, it's far from finished. I've just slotted those recent matches in a very rough position for now. I haven't been crazy about Finn's big matches until last night. And I really loved Nia/Bayley and Joe/Ciampa.

Nia/Bayley just didn't do it for me. I understood the story they were telling but it was just too slow and Nia just looks a little too green. Over time, I do think she is going to make a big impact. Joe vs Ciampa was a good and short tv main event that was hard hitting but I wouldn't say it was anywhere near being as good as both Finn vs Owens matches and Finn vs Joe. Finn vs Joe might be one of my favorite matches of the year. The last 10 minutes were just great to watch.

I agree with all of this.

I would have loved to have someone like Lex come out if he looked at all like himself anymore and/or if Vince would ever show him again after the Lex Express has run out of gas comment. n.W.o worked perfectly for a reaction on the spot but if you're someone like me who loves rewatching WCW, you're kind of like "uhmmm.... what?" Still works because anytime I see Hall, Nash or Hogan, a segment automatically gets a star bump in the ratings, but still.

It would have made more sense for guys like DDP, Flair and Luger to make the save. The NWO was there for the reaction and to see NWO square off with DX.

Flair would have made so much sense it's silly. Or even some throwaway line about how much respect Hogan, Hall and Nash have for The Stinger after all their wars.

That's basically how I took it without them even needing to say it.

As for Bayley/Nia, I think the people shitting on it because Nia is "too green" are being harsh. The match was pretty damn good despite her being green, and she played her role well enough. I think the main thing that sticks out like a sore thumb is she doesn't know the right mannerisms and motions to fill time between spots. Otherwise, the match was really good. Great story told with Bayley working her ass off to teach Nia how to do it right, and the moments when she kicked out of the three leg drops and made Nia tap were executed to perfection. From a story standpoint, it was great. That said, I do think it came just short of a genuine yes.

NO to Asuka/Emma. Found it underwhelming and a bit forgettable, honestly.
YES to Nia/Bayley. I had high hopes, and they were met, if not exceeded.

This has to be the year with the most nominated women's matches. it's insane how many will make the list and how high several of them will rank.

It's not even in question. I think both Paige/Emma matches were nominated widely in 2013, then Charlotte/Natalya and Charlotte/Sasha in 2014. Then this year there's been at least five top top class matches and regular very good ones.

The one thing I've struggled with as it pertains to this thread is that I look at it as a Best of 2015. I think a lot of matches just get thrown in because it was an average match that stood out on a lackluster Raw or whatever. So when I see a match like Nia Jax v. Bayley, it doesn't really warrant a nomination because IMO it wasn't a good match in-ring wise, it told a story but it wasn't that good of story due to how green Nia is and she wasn't able to really deliver. People say the story was big unstoppable jobber squasher v. the ultra talented lovable Bayley but the reality is that in order for that to be a truly good story both parties have to bring it and Nia just didn't do that for me. It was basically the NXT writers saying Nia is thick, Bayley is small, there's the story. Nia didn't deliver, Bayley did, she sold the fuck out of every sloppy move, punch, kick, that Nia gave which in turn kind of ruined the match for me.

So again I think for me I'm a little more subjective and critical about matches that would narrow down to a collective top 25 out of God know's how many matches. I swear every WWE show there's at least one match nominated and 9/10 times it wasn't even a good match.

I can't disagree. Nia/Bayley is easily my least favorite of all matches nominated. The story while great isn't everything, the action was subpar and Nia looked a bit lost there.

I know. And now is probably as good a time as any to remind people how great Sasha/Becky Lynch was. It got outshined by the Sasha/Bayley matches quite a bit but it needs serious consideration. Until Sasha/Bayley happened I had it as my number three match of the year.

Doing a lot of rewatching at the moment.

Owens/Zayn from Takeover Rival is better than I remember, really well told story there. In fact that show in general is so strong with the amazing fatal four way and Neville/Balor.

I think I've said this before but Trips/Sting was a spectacle at the time but really doesn't hold up. Orton/Rollins on the other hand is really underrated I think.

Also NXT this week is showing Neville/Cesaro from a previously unaired show last year which may end up being a late contender to make the list.

This is how my list is shaping up at the moment, very tough this year.
