Daniel Ghita/Hesdy Gerges were supposed to face off on a March 6th "It's Showtime" card, but Gerges was just recently arrested for drug trafficking (loads of coke).

They are now talking about possible replacements being Tyrone Sponge or Badr Hari.

Please God let it be Hari.

Cro Cop returning to K-1. Not doing MMA, straight up kickboxing fools.

Good luck to Cro Cop but I'm not sure how his chin is gonna hold up in K-1.

U think a k1 fight will look like that fight?

Cro cop would kill most in MMA if they fought him in a kickboxing bout as opposed to a sport that u can take down a dude and hit him with elbows, stand up in MMA isn't the same level, alot of dudes who are ko artists in mma would get killed by straight kickboxers. Not saying kickboxers are elite hands down but I wouldn't write off cro cop just yet.

Well ya but if several MMA fighters are able to knock Cro Cop out why wouldn't an elite level K-1 striker?

I'll agree with this. Kickboxing is a controlled sport. There are a lot of variables in mma and it takes the kickboxers out of their element.

Swedish Sanshou/K-1 fighter Nils Widlund will fight Japan's Yuta Kubo (30-4-1) at Dream's NYE show (K-1 rules fight).

Widlund fights out of Södermalms Shaolin, same club where I first started to train way back in 1991. It's primarily a Sanshou team but they are always looking for a good fight so they also compete in K-1, Kickboxing and Muay Thai.

Should be a good fight, Widlund is always an exciting guy to watch.

Cro Cop vs. Ray Sefo has been confirmed for March 10 in Zagreb, Croatia in a K-1 rules fight. Strange that they never fought each other during their late 90's/early 00's K-1 primes.

The event is called ''K-1 - Final Fight'' and will be held at the 25k seat Zagreb Arena.

That is pretty odd they never fought and I'm excited for this.

Badr Hari has just defeated Gokhan Saki in what was Badr's last fight (for now) in kickboxing. He says he's going to make the jump to boxing.

Daniel Ghita and Errol Zimmerman both scored vicious knockouts as well in the first rounds. Finished fifteen minutes before UFC on FOX 2 prelims, which is a bit of a bonus.

I watched the Hari/Saki fight on a shitty 8-bit looking stream so I could be wrong, but all the knockdowns looked pretty fishy to me.

Mirko Filipovic will apparently fight in kickboxing one more time. He is rumored to fight Loren Javier Jorge (68-9-4).

I just knew that wasn't going to end well for Marky Marcus. He's still in "mma mode" too. You can tell from his stance and movement. Is this Casserly guy any good or did he just get KO'd by a nobody?

Pretty much a nobody as far as I know. You could tell he was timing Davis movement to land that RHK, the way Davis moved with his left hand low it was just a matter of time.

Pretty safe to say it's time for Davis to hang up them gloves; MMA, boxing and kickboxing gloves that is.

Yeah, it was painfully obvious that Davis was loading up that overhand the whole time. Guy just stayed patient and got Davis' elementary timing down and then BOOM!

    Pretty damn sweet KO too.

I'd watch it if I could, but while there are several channels that now show MMA.. there are none that show muay thai. = /

I wish Comcast was smart enough to make a COMBAT CHANNEL .. with mma, muay thai, bjj, karate, kickboxing, judo, wrestling, etc.. there would be no shortage of content available and I bet the ratings would shock them. All of those sports have their own followings and would totally watch if it were on tv here.

K-1 and Spike TV have agreed to terms to bring K-1 to the network, beginning with a few events streaming live on their website this fall.. and then in 2013 (when UFC contract is dead) they will begin airing them on the actual Spike TV channel. Bellator + K-1 + Spike TV = FUCK YEAH.

    http://www.mmaweekly.com/k-1-joining...or-on-spike-tv

The four K-1 events in 2012 include:

    September 8 – Los Angeles
    U.S. Grand Prix Championship

    October 14 – Tokyo, Japan
    World Grand Prix Final

    December 8 – Athens, Greece
    MAX Final

    December 26 – New York
    World Grand Prix Final

    And 1-year+ later..

Female Cyborg (12-1 MMA) will fight Muay Thai rules vs. Jennifer Colomb (10-0 MT) for Lion Fight Promotions tonight.

    Should be interesting.

Seriously. Both have had balls at one time in their life. At least the ugly steroid cheat isn't tainting the UFC. All of those women are actual women to the best of my knowledge. I hope Jennifer Colomb lays down a beating. (I don't like Cyborg.)

Did SpikeTV ever end up airing those K-1 events last year? I honestly do not remember seeing a single event.

I do find it comical reading people's extremely over the top comments toward Cyborg. I wish more people reacted that way toward men like Overeem, Sonnen, Bonnar, etc.

Who's been watching Glory on Spike? I think they only had 1 event so far, I believe Tyrone Sponge fought on the card. I used to watch K-1 all the time late at night on ESPN. I remember seeing Bob Sapp beating the shit out of Ernesto Hoost and Hoost going on to win the tourny because Sapp broke his hand or some shit. It's really sad how ESPN kind of dropped the ball with K-1 and showcasing other martial arts.

Steroids are bad period but using them to beat up women takes it to another level.

Overeem is a fraud and I haven't overlooked him, Sonnen and Bonnar get a little more leniency because they were going up against Anderson Silva. But when you juice so you can smash the likes of Jan Finney then there is a problem.

We're not talking about intergender MMA though. Cyborg was popped once, and it wasn't for her fight with Jan Finney (not that it matters). There shouldn't be any excuses/leniency, idc if they're going up against Anderson Silva or the cashier at Wal Mart.

Honestly man it's not even a post directed at you, just the over the top criticism she faces simply because she's a woman.

I hope we will one day be able to see her in the UFC but it's doubtful. She doesn't want to drop to 135 and the UFC is already talking about a 115 division as the next step for WMMA.

K-1 WGP 2002. Then Hoost won in the semis (over Ray Sefo) via leg injury and in the finals (over JLB) via arm injury. Crazy thing is that Hoost wasn't even supposed to be in the GP. He got Semmy Schilt's spot, which I always believed to be a little fishy. Remember that show like it was yesterday, Sweden's Martin Holm defeated Michael McDonald in the reserve fight.

Will be checking out this show. Watched the first Bonjasky/Cro Cop fight live on Eurosport back in 2002. I think it was his second to last K-1 fight before going to Pride, pretty sure the Sapp fight was the last.

Hoost has been retired for years (he's probably 45-46 now), but he will make a comeback in Japan pretty soon. Can't remember exactly when, April-May perhaps.

Not a great return to kickboxing for Pat Barry. He got starched pretty badly in the first round.

/Pretty crazy KO from the same Glory event:

That's some 1980's ninja movie stuff.

Barry desperately needs to start fighting at the correct weight.

That KO was a thing of absolute beauty.

Yeah, takes quite a bit to impress me after following combat sports for 30 years, have pretty much seen it all. That kick was straight up amazing though.

You know, I actually think Barry weighed 219 and the other guy 214.

Barry was never really ''world class'' and I'm pretty sure his pure striking skills regressed due to his MMA career/training. I remember one of Crocop's trainers stating his striking skills was only about 70% of what they were back when he solely focused on K-1. Not so strange though, grappling and wrestling takes away a lot of time from the stand-up training, there's also the fact that you move, defend and stand differently in MMA.

Yeah the guy he was fighting was lighter and faster, plus if I'm not mistaken he was a pro boxer so you know his hands were going to trump Barry and his leg kicks. And like you said, Barry was never a world class K-1 guy, dude is just a freak athlete. I also agree with what you said about how his MMA training affected his kickboxing skills.

Yeah, from what I heard the dude was a pretty decent (not great) boxer. Think his BoxRec was something like 16-4.

I'm glad that Spike is showing Glory. When I was right out of high school, around 2000, they would show K-1 on ESPN late at night, that's also where I saw Cung Le doing San Sho (sp?). One night they even had Ernie Reyes Jr fighting lol. So it's good to see kickboxing and other martial arts outside of a top 20 worst knockouts countdown on Fox Sports lol.

Sanshou, first Martial Art I ever trained.

And yes, I'm glad that Glory is starting to improve and is shown on a proper channel. I followed K-1 from about 1999 and it was kind of sad to see them die a slow ugly death. Glory is still far from K-1's heyday with the HW's in the late 90's and K-1 MAX circa 2005, but it's improving and getting more interesting for sure. Seems they get decent ratings on Spike as well.

Yep, it was like when boxing's HW division started fading, K-1's HW division was building up and had such an unbelievable roster. Boxing passed the torch to K-1 who had the torch stolen from MMA before they could really get it going big time lol.

Ernesto Hoost, Ray Sefo, Andy Hug, JLB, Franciso Filho, Mike Bernardo, Mirko Crocop, Peter Aerts.. So many great wars over the years. The 1999 WGP is what made me a fan of Crocop, his ribs was smashed in the quarter-final (vs Musashi) but he still made it through the semis (vs. Sam Greco) and to the finals against Mr Perfect, who finally put him away via crushing body shots to the already broken ribs. Great heart shown that night.

It wasn't easy getting hold of the shows back in those days. I found the 1999 GP VHS by accident when I was shopping for boxing gloves or something at a martial arts supplier in Stockholm.

.. And K-1 MAX at it's peak was simply amazing. Some of the best matches in combat sports ever, period.

He's going to get killed. Just like Pat Barry, just like Brian Foster.

I heard Pat was going to fight Cro Cop but now it's Cro Cop v. Sergai.
