During the episode they advertised that next week would be things from NXT's participation during Wrestlemania weekend. I'm hoping that we get to see full matches from the NXT in San Jose.
I also agree that Itami and Breeze wasn't great. I expect more from Itami, and I don't think he has very good chemistry with Breeze. I did here that their match at San Jose was pretty damn good, so maybe they needed that pressure to really bring their "A Game". I also really want to see how Finn Balor's entrance looks at a bigger arena.

Itami vs. Breeze was not great. In fact this whole show was a little slow. Glad to see Zayn back again but honestly after the ass beating he took from Owens and then taking time off his heat is really dead. The crowd wasn't even that excited to see him. Maybe things will kick back into gear next week.

I disagree about his ring skills. He's always been consistently good in the ring, but he hasn't had time to show it since the Fatal 4 Way match. This series with Hideo has been his best opportunity, but I just think these guys have little chemistry together.
Overall, a weaker episode to the show. All the promo spots were really good, and I liked the general character development surrounding Bayley and Emma, but the match quality was subpar. Main event came the closest, but the lack of time really took away from the 2/3 Falls gimmick.
Breeze was really good in the fatal 4 way, but he did have 3 other guys to work with. And (this ain't a big deal) I'm still not a fan of the tassles. They make him look less mobile, and he's a little guy. A guy w/ Breeze's character should give off the impression that he has quickness, and he just doesn't. Bottom line, I think w/ as much time as he's had to make his character shine, he's done a great job... but he's still boring me half the time during his matches.
His match with Zayn was excellent, and his work with Neville was top-notch too. I wasn't saying the Fatal 4 Way was his only good showing, I was saying that's the last time had an opportunity to have one until now. He's hardly even wrestled since that match other than mostly squash matches and his recent outings with Hideo. He hasn't found a good opponent since that 15 minutes he had in the sun.
And he has a shit finisher.

Breeze's Money shot is such a week finish IMO. Compare it to Hideo's running kick finish. Not even in the same ball park.

That was at the big show wasn't it? Maybe both. But incidentally, perhaps they'll air matches from that show on the 15th or 22nd.
My buddy went and he said there were some pretty heavy pro-NXT and anti-WWE chants during the Balor/Breeze match. He also said the match itself was awesome and in the top 10 of the year.

Well shit. I wasn't going to bother watching due to knowing how it all turned out for Mania (NXT I refuse to read spoilers for) but just to see the crowd pop for the GTS I may.
I think he hits it on Breeze at the live event. He does not hit it on Neville from what I read.

Yeah, I suspect we get footage from the San Jose show next week. Hopefully it'll be like the Ohio show and it'll be a full episode. I agree with Ringo about not having the tournament matches up the week of WrestleMania. Would have been a great way to utilize the network. Maybe next time.
It's just baffling to me that they are only putting the tournament up now. But I'm sure the matches will be enjoyable.
I figured they already put it up on the Network with all the other Axxess stuff but hey if I can read Smackdown spoilers and still watch the show I can handle this.
It'll be fine, I'm sure, I'm just a bit disappointed we're not getting these matches plus a proper episode. I always want more NXT.

Really enjoyed the episode. I enjoyed all of the matches that were on the show tonight. I really loved the feature they did on Itami. A little insight behind the scenes with his family, and interacting with everyone backstage. They even showed him hitting the GTS at the San Jose event. Now I just want to see the whole event.
Thinking about Tyler Breeze a bit. Would it make his finish more believable if it looked like he either had a metal plate on the heel of his boot, or was seen loading the boot backstage? I agree that the heel kick doesn't look like it could put someone away, but if it had an edge added to it I think it might help. Almost like how Lex Luger had the metal plate in his arm when he started using his forearm as a finish as the Narcissist. Just a thought.
That Hideo Itami video package was all kinds of awesome
That whole thing was really good. Establishes a more personal connection with him. Nice seeing Bryan, Rollins etc. with him backstage. His kids are great.

That episode was some sort of Hideo Special. Really enjoyed it. All the backstage footage was especially interesting, I love the dedication and sincerity of this roster.

The shot of Hideo going to one knee in the tunnel was very heartwarming. He seems like a really sweet guy, just all smiles and happy to be where he is.
Who would have thought that Prince Devitt, Kevin Steen, El Generico and KENTA would one day be four of the most popular guys in WWE... Crazy.
I'm still smacking myself for thinking that Generico would be a complete failure once unmasked. Boy, was I fucking wrong on that. Who knew he'd end up being an amazing promo guy?
Kevin Steen makes sense to me as a WWE success story. He has a great style and he's a good promo. Basically the best thing on the mic to come out of the indies since CM Punk. So that I get.
But NXT is full of surprises. And like Hero I never would've guessed that El Generico, the guy I caught on a random ROH ppv years ago, would transition from high flying comedy act sans promos into one of the most heartfelt speakers you can find in the wrestling world today.
Just curious but what does NXT stand for, if anything? Or is it something like NeXT generation?

May be a little late but FFS the Hideo Itami video package was fantastic!! I got a lil choked up and became a huge fan of his. Got to be honest I wasn't invested in him as a fan. Now I definitely am. Great Vignette!!

Solomon Crowe vs. CJ Parker::: I like Crowe, and I think his offense will be awesome against top guys like Zayn/Owens. Glad CJ is gone.
Baron Corbin vs. Jobber::: I've seen enough of this act. If this is the only thing Baron's going to be used for, I'm going to skip his matches from here on out.
Enzo/Cass vs. Dawkins & Fulton::: Enzo and Cass... these guys are the most over guys in WWE. I've never seen such a concentrated amount of energy for a duo like this in years. I like how they're teasing Carmella siding w/ Blake and Murphy.

Sami Zayn vs. Rhyno::: Man, I've been looking forward to this match. Superb work from both guys. It's always such a cool feeling when you see a veteran duke it out w/ the new blood. Sami does look like he's starting to pack a gut though.
Dana is going to need a lot of work in the ring. And she's going to need a new gimmick. With women like Charlotte walking around there is nothing super special about her physique. She is a little hottie though. And with biceps like that she'd probably yank my johnson clean off mid handjob...but what a way to go.
I wouldn't mind seeing more of Dana Brooke.

I liked that main event a lot. Zayn is a great storyteller in the ring, and Rhyno looked good in defeat.
Dig the physique on Dana Brooke, impressive guns on her...and I mean the arm kind not the tit kind although I think they were good, too, but I honestly didn't look at them as much. I like that Barbie Killer nickname they mentioned but it'd help if she looked a bit less like one beyond the muscles. Also, why isn't Blue Pants an official roster member?

She was a bit shit really. The slam at the end was the only nice part of her whole offence. The numerous unwarranted pin attempts, the slow-motion miss-by-a-mile punches, and the queer handstand-foot-on-chin need to cease.

I think she's notably more built around the shoulders. Either way, she can still be the Barbie Killer should she perform up to a required standard. That's the stumbling block, not the appearance. She could look like Stacy Kiebler but if she had the physicality of Brock Lesnar in the ring, she'd be the Barbie Killer.
Unless people actively want their product as cookie-cutter as possible, which I hadn't considered in fairness.

Honestly, her voice annoyed me in the video packages. She kinda sounded clueless. I haven't seen her in action yet, and I don't want to judge her by a little clip video, but I wouldn't be surprised if she's not up my alley.
She's definitely NEW to it. Her movements in the ring were pretty awkward, and it looked like she was having trouble just going for a pin. I felt the same way about Sasha Banks, and it took her about a year to really catch fire.
After watching yesterdays episode, I'm surprised she made her debut already. You can obviously see she's clearly not ready. Wrestling wise anyway.
She's 100% got the look, the body builder fitness look Vince/WWE loves. I think with some more work she could play a pretty decent heel.
But man, she was so awkward in the ring. You could hear her saying like "yeah you want it?, you like that?" sounded like she was in a porno.
To her credit, her finisher was delivered okay, albeit a little slow. good impact though. (I'll ignore she pretty much pulled Blue Pants' shoulders off the matt before the 3 count).
On a side note, i see they're advertising a Charlotte vs Bayley vs Becky Lynch for next weeks episode. I know they're taped but i hope that doesn't mean we're not seeing Charlotte soon on the main roster. She could play a killer heel on TV. Id put her with Steph somehow, give her lots of TV time, make her a bodyguard type.

NXT is a proving ground, there's going to be a lot of talent who doesn't jump out the gate as good as Kevin Steen. Rewind the clock and remember some of the talent who started out with us going "wtf....well they have the look or they have the mic skills" and eventually they put it together and are doing well either still in NXT or on the main roster. There's definitely room for improvement for pretty much every single talent in NXT other than maybe Finn Balor.

People forget it's a developmental system. It's strange at times because they might bring in some very accomplished workers as well as some very green beginners, but that's what it is. It's not a third brand - it exists to get people to a place where they are shifted to the main product.
For what it's worth I'm surprised Dana Brooke has appeared quite so soon, and wonder if it's about imminent post AJ traffic out of NXT. Either way, she's there to learn on the job and entertain as she goes, as are they all.

'Barbie Killer' just a bizarre gimmick to give someone who is basically Fitness Barbie. It would be like giving Triple H the underdog gimmick, or John Cena the Daniel Bryan misfit gimmick.
Obviously it's only one match so we don't have a huge amount to go on, and I'm sure she'll improve in time. It's just rather strange to see her given such hype and build and a character that all fails to mesh with what she quite clearly is.
Again, it makes no odds depending on her in ring performance. She throws down like Lesnar, she can be the Barbie killer even if she looks like Barbie. It's perhaps all the more interesting for it.

The point of a 'Barbie Killer' gimmick is that you're someone who is there to smash all the Barbies and break the mold so women's wrestling becomes something more than rich men playing with sex dolls. You can't give Barbie that gimmick. You can't give that gimmick to someone who wrestles, dresses and looks just like one of the most famous WWE-style divas ever. It's the antithesis of itself.
There's a lot wrong with that, but I'll cheerfully step out. Life's too short.
Having now watched her debut...man, she has some potential, but she sounds terribly plain, and I think she's WAYYYYY too over-sexualized. To a gratuitous extent that makes it look obnoxious. That's kind of the whole package right now to me: obnoxious. I think she has some spots of personality that are brilliant. She just needs to learn how to hone in on that, cut the hokey shit out, and quit trying too hard to be charismatic.

She's ridiculously green, but that's not surprising since she has less than two years in the ring at this point. She was signed in June 2013 and I don't think she had any training before that. And she's not somebody who grew up in a wrestling family and would have picked it up by proxy over the years.
So she's pretty bad at this point, but that's not surprising. She definitely has a charisma and presence to her. Her physique is amazing and I think they can build a good character out of that.
The thing about NXT is that there are two tracks, one is guys like Owens, Zayn, Balor, Itami who have been wrestling for years and years and just need to learn to wrestle the way WWE wants them to. Then you have people who are literally learning how to wrestle.
As it stands, it doesn't come together. She's not natural enough in the ring to come off like a physical ass kicker the way she's portrayed. She probably just needs more experience to develop that.
Unless they're dumb, we probably won't be seeing her on the main roster for a couple years.
I will say this, there is more talk about this girl than there was when Solomon Crowe debuted. Now, obviously that's because the internet is the place to immediately go to and just completely run someone down that might "suck" whereas Crowe is someone who people tend to praise and enjoy but again, people are talking about Dana, who's talking about Crowe?
Crowe's very meh to me. He had a 3 second promo this week that didn't seem to really have any point at all. But he at least looks like he suits his own character, whatever it is supposed to be.
