Really enjoying this season, as always. I love these guys so much.
Being Frank was a tremendous episode. I love that they challenge themselves like that (it reminded me of the Charlie Work episode in concept). The Suburbs episode was great too, really dark and funny. I loved how they just put all their trash in one room and put a bunch of air fresheners on the walls.
Dee Made a Smut Film was a lowkey great episode. And the Skiing episode was a classic spoof. The last 4 episodes have all been great. And the first 2 were good too (but not quite as good). Dammit I love this show.

Uncle Jack is one of my favorite characters.
I love the continuity in the story of Jack's obsession with having bigger hands.
I enjoyed seeing the bird go after the lawyer.
Also, casting Carl Winslow as the judge was brilliant.
That shit was funny.

Caught up through episode 5 of the new season last night. The suburbs episode really was great. I enjoyed the mountain episode too. The rest were pretty good..
I died at Dennis's impression of CCH Pounder. Completely perfect and threw me by surprise. Also this part:

The two part season finale was solid. Enjoyed the first episode more. I lost it when Mac was screaming "Yeah!!!!!!" after finishing the song with the church group. The confessions part was good with the Romo jersey and everything and i thought it was pretty hilarious when frank and Charlie were talking about orange juice and soda as mixers.
The court room and paddys van episodes were pretty weak.
Will be interesting to see if they do anything with mac coming out as gay which he later took back.

Dennis was outstanding in this season
I'm not sure how much you know about American football so I'll break it down all the way even if this is overkill. The gang are all Philadelphia Eagles fans, but the Eagles have never in their entire history won a Super Bowl and don't have a good quarterback so the joke is that Mac secretly owns/wears a Dallas Cowboys jersey, the Cowboys being a rival of the Eagles and in their same division, and a more successful franchise historically. This is sports fan treason. The fact that it's a Romo jersey isn't particularly meaningful, just that Romo is the Cowboys current quarterback and is very good and their most famous player, sort of a pretty boy diva QB, so it makes it worse in Charlie's eyes.Originally Posted by MikeHunt

I love how Charlie appears clever for a brief moment, but then something jumps and he goes back to being Charlie.
Seems smart in court, but then asks the bird expert to speak to a bird.
Gets pumped up for St Paddy's day avoiding the stupid Paddy wagon, only to drink green paint and catch a leprechaun.
Appears stupid in group discussions but lands zingers at Mac "there's two gays on the boat" / "where's the other one?", and the repeated Dee/bird calling.
And the Ski Resort not knowing who on earth knew all the info on the loud speaker and opting to "get out", only to get suckered into it all and sleep with a hooker.
It's fucking brilliant.
This is one of my favourite Sunny moments. Dee is so funny.
i thought this was maybe the weakest season yet, but the top episodes (suburbs, st. patricks day, 2 part finale) were great, and the frank pov episode was interesting.
Dee's Obama impression was amazing.

Fuck yes. I think you could make the case they should call it a series after next season (quit while you're still good) but I can't NOT be excited about this when it's still my favorite comedy on tv. Season 11 wasn't their best but it was still great.
So I'm going back and rewatching loads of these, and I genuinely think season 9 might be the best season they have done.
First they break dee, then they try and ban guns, they try and win an award, you have country Mac make an appearance, and then all the different scenarios to save the day. So good.
That being said, I'm back on Season 11, and Mac & Dennis move to the suburbs, and this might be a top 5 episode for me. So good.
11 certainly was one of their weakest seasons to date, but "Mac & Dennis Move To The Suburbs" is easily in their Top- 5 strongest episodes ever.

Made my way through seasons 1-7 and just starting 8.
Charlie brawling with the mascot is my favourite scene so far. The little punch to the snout too to start the fight. The Trashman scene was hilarious too.

I think this was a return to form. Pretty solid from start to finish with the biggest highlights being Frank wanting to say the N word, Scott Bakula just seriously stealing the show and some of the songs (especially Ziggy, if ya hear me) was fantastic.
I've never seen Quantum Leap so those references went over my head but I still got the gist of them and Bakula's cameo was really funny. Overall I enjoyed the episode a lot and thought the singing worked well. It was a concept episode (like Being Frank or Charlie Work) and I like that they try bold things like that.
Next week should be back to a more normal episode with "The Gang Goes to a Water Park".
I was a HUGE quantum leap fan as as kid. Thought the episode was a solid 7. The singing bits went on long for my tastes. I thought the first couple episodes of The Mick were really good as well.
I like to think my cat is Scott Bakula. The first episode of The Mick was excellent. Singing episodes aren't my favorite, but this was really good. Never gets stale for me.
The Mick has been solid. I'm not blown away but it's enjoyable enough. Hopefully it finds its groove and its audience but I'm worried it won't do that on Fox - sadly I see it being a 1-season burn out. Kaitlin Olson is the shit though and its made by a couple of the Sunny writers.
Also its kind of crazy that Kaitlin looks better now than she did in season 1 (IMO). Part of that is makeup and hairstyle and whatnot but I think she's aged wonderfully and is quite hot. (for a bird)

idk if this will become a debate in here but I do take the side that Kaitlin Olson is hot. I FULLY acknowledge that makeup can make just about anyone look cute and thats probably the case here because I think her face is pretty boney without makeup. but while I never used to think of her as hot, somewhere around season 7 or 8 she started to look damn fine.
She is hotter than Pam from the office for sure but I think she has that same effect. Not hot on the outside but hot enough personality that people start to find her sexy.

Wasn't a fan of the musical episode, seemed to veer towards shark jumping territory. Hope the rest is back to the usual fair.
Solid episode last night but I probably preferred episode 1. Spoilers below if you haven't seen it.
The biggest laugh for me was when Frank said they were going to raw dog the shit out of the slide, I literally burst out laughing at the way he said that. And the ending with his bloody back and everyone yelling AIDS blood was great. The Dennis plot wasn't overly funny but I enjoyed it. Got to see him being nice (while still being devious) with his sidekick.

Almost finished Season 9, two more episodes to go. Enjoyed the hell out of it.
That animation in "The Gang Saves The Day" in Charlie's mind was pretty sweet. Loved how they were all thinking different things on what they would do during that robbery then they just rob the place as well in the end.
Quick thoughts on the season so far:
The Gang Turns Black - 8/10. Favorite to date. I keep thinking back to the Scott Bakula part where he starts singing out the window and it makes me smile.
The Gang Goes to a Water Park - 7/10. Solid.
Old Lady House: A Situational Comedy - 7/10. I thought this one was pretty funny, mainly just for the absurdity of Mac & Charlie's moms and uncle Jack. And Dee was funny in how unfunny her character is.
Wolf Cola: A Public Relations Nightmare - 5/10. Worst of the season so far, thought it fell pretty flat. I did enjoy Dennis's rant about dogs though. Obviously he takes it to the extreme but he's right, people who don't like dogs are shamed into hiding, lol. Rehashing the Fight Milk video with Mac and Charlie felt like another unnecessary throwback.
Overall, I still love the show but this season and last have been a peg down from its glory days. I hope we get some gems the rest of the season. They're already renewed for 2 more seasons after this one (13 and 14) and I hope they don't go on any longer than that. Next up is a spoof on the murder documentaries: Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer.
I've just seen "Charlie Work" What a man!
The trailer for tonight's episode is awesome. I'm going to tag it because it's somewhat spoilery, in that it reveals a certain character has died which is the premise of the episode:
Episode wasn't bad. Some key highlights in there, especially with Charlie on the phone. I just think they missed out on having occasional guest shots with Maureen transforming into a cat.

Tonight's episode (Hero or Hate Crime) was my favorite of the season so far and a true Sunny classic, old school style with no gimmick. I loved it.
I thought Making Dennis A Murderer was really funny too even though I haven't seen Making a Murderer so some of the references went over my head.
Definitely a strong last 2 weeks and pretty damn good season so far

What a brilliant episode. Watched it 3 times now.
On top of being a hysterical and well written episode, it was a great and sincere coming out moment for Mac at the end, especially considering the cast/show runners are very pro LGBTQ-rights. They sort of already did that on the cruise ship last season but this was him finally and fully accepting it. I wonder where they will go from here in regard to him dating dudes and whatnot. There are a lot of possibilities.
I don't like how the characters all hate Mac now, though (particularly Dennis and Charlie). I miss the times of the dynamic duo when Mac and Dennis used to get each other out of jams and check in with one another every hour. Mac has also become the dumb one now, even more so than Charlie who used to be that guy. You could argue Mac's character has regressed in that regard.
That's a good point, but he isn't that dumb. He was still baffled by Charlie's reasoning for why he did what he did in this episode, and was of sound enough mind to make a coherent argument against Frank, even if it did mean bringing out that bike.
With him coming out now I wonder if we'll ever finally see him do a sweet backflip too.
Been another solid season so far
Finished right up to the latest episode when just a few months ago I'd never seen a single episode.
Hero or Hate Crime and Making Dennis Reynolds a Murderer were definitely my favourite episodes of Season 12. Next to Mac coming out for good, Frank going down the unfinished water slide and bleeding the whole pool was fantastic.
The St Patrick's Day episode and The Gang Goes to Hell was my favurite episodes of the previous season. Interrogating the "leprechaun" and Charlie getting melted on paint seeing that image of the leprechaun going up the rainbow was great.
Hero or hate crime is an all-time top 5 episode.
first time I legit laughed out loud this season.

Latest episode (The Gang Tends Bar) was really good too. Funny to see Dennis trying to get them to actually run the bar and how they all thought it was a scheme. I enjoyed the touching moment at the end and hope it brings us back to Dennis and Mac being best buds (I mentioned a few posts back how it was sad that they all hated Mac). I've heard people guess that Dennis and Mac will bang at some point.
They've been on a good role and I'd say this season has been stronger than S11 which was their weakest. Next/final 2 episodes:

I love Cricket, great recurring character. Mac trying to hunt him.
Dennis was willing to bang an Asian boy caddy at one point, so definitely plausible.
Cricket telling Mac he was a sucker for being gay for free was tremendous.
About time they did a Cricket-centric episode.

Tonight's season finale was hysterical, epic, and potentially series altering. Sadly.
Amazing episode. Unless Dennis is leaving the show for a bit or forever I highly suspect he will be back in the premiere. The whole thing with Charlie and the waitress though....
Oh shit.... Glenn howerton may be leaving the show and it's possible there will be a long hiatus between season 12 and 13. It's very possible this episode started the arc to wrap up character storylines.

Off to an IASIP themed night on Friday. Didn't realise that fancy dress was encouraged. Thought I was just going to eat Milk Steak and have punch.
Think I'll just get a white t-shirt and do the boggs challenge. Standard. There's a group of us going, if we genuinely try and out-drink each other and mark it up on the shirts it could be pretty funny.

Milk Steak = Genuinely steak with a milk sauce, and Jelly Beans.
Rum Ham = Ham in rum sauce
Wine in a Can = Weird, because the cola made the wine sweet, but very drinkable.

I was a gibbering mess by the end of it. Loads of people went with the Wade Boggs thing, seemed like the easy way out. My Fight Milk t-shirt turned up, rolled up the sleeves and went full Mac mode.
They had a live band playing songs from the series, the game of games being played downstairs, flip cup was hectic and all the small bits around the room just was subtle references was a constant reminder at how stupid the show is.
Loved it. Every bar should do this at least once.

If Dennis isn't around for the next season I will be sad. I do believe he will be back though just remains to be seen when. Even a season without Dennis will certainly make the return that much better. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
