Strange decision by the Niners not to take a timeout and make a go of it at the end of the half. They could have had 1:30 left and 2 timeouts. instead they let the clock run
Kyle Shanahan being overly conservative in a super bowl? surely that won't come back to haunt them.
49ers not having the bollocks to go for it at the end of this half could prove very costly.
JLO MVP
Maybe so but JLo won that round.
Disagree wardy.
Time for Mahomes to be Mahomes this drive. Not do or die, but he needs to open the 49ers D up a bit.
He was not Mahomes.
My 500+ yards bet looks unlikely lol.
How much were you getting on that bet?
i like the graphics on the scoreboard
It was Mahomes to score 1 or more touchdowns, to throw 500+ yards and the Chiefs to win by 7-12 points. Fiver on 275/1 pays £1380. Was obviously never going to happen but that touchdown gave me a bit of hope early on.
Really good game so far through 3 quarters. Seems that Mahomes has a chance to complete the comeback and become a legend.
This is reminding me of Cam Newton's proposed coronation as the NFL's top superstar. Mahomes not dealing well with the defensive pressure, unlucky on that INT but got away with one earlier in the possession. 49ers the more well rounded team, comfortably.
Game on!
A star is born.
Mahomestyle coming through big to lead his team to a win.
Surely that wasn't a touchdown?
Shows what I know (absolutely fuck all).
I pretty much called this game.

FB's post is not aging so well. Especially the end bit.
What a 4th for the Chiefs.
I know enough to know it's game over.
I timed that well, as usual!
San Francisco had Mahomes on the ropes but that man is as resilient as they come. He nailed the pass to Hill on 3rd and 15 and that turned the tide. Seems like KC wasn't looking back (even down 10) after that.
KC down by at least 10 in every playoff game this year.
First team to ever do that and win the SB.
The comeback kids.
very happy to see andy win the big one. very good game.
I enjoyed that and I wasn't even drunk this time.
That 3rd and 15 rocket was outrageous. Never going to doubt that team again. They weren't good, they adjusted, finished great and won. Just think if the 49ers had driven into field goal range with 90 seconds of the first half left though, for me you have to be aggressive in your play calls in close games.
Tyrann Mathieu on ESPN just now.
"We were just so glad they got out of the run."
Travis Kelce could be Mojo Rawley.
Really enjoyed that game.
Would’ve enjoyed it more if Williams wouldn’t have scored at the end though. Numbers woulda hit for 1500
I don't give a fuck about football, but I'm glad the Chiefs won.
Great game. Super shit halftime show. Only person whonactually sang was J Los daughter. If Shakira would have rocked kashmir it might have swayed the whole thing.
I didnt even watch the halftime show because i was so uninterested in the artists and had something to do in the kitchen during it. i did see a gif of JLo and Shakira shaking their asses together and that was I needed to see
I wouldnt have watched it but my mom, who swung by during pre game got fascinated by the 4k broadcast that fox did on their app and the surround sound and asked to come back over for the halftime show. She has literally never watched more than 10 minutes of a super bowl game but hasnt missed a halftime show in 10 some years.
Well, that was gutting. Then to have 3 more hours at work after it finished.
Fuck :(
Watched Q3 and Q4, Have a vaguely better grasp of the game and the it being about moving up the pitch in possession rather than just going hell for leather for a score, However I still do not understand what all this 3rd down and 10th stuff is all about
It is my understanding that you get 4 goes (downs) to move the ball forward 10 yards. If you're on your third attempt at moving it 10 yards then that's the 3rd down. 3rd down and 10th would mean it's the 3rd down and you need to move it 10 yards.
This could be completely wrong though.
That’s completely right.
Yas I finally get it.
Took me ages to figure out the rules too. I think part of that problem was playing Madden on easy, where it's not actually a struggle to make 10 yards in 4 attempts. Why aren't they just slinging fuck out of it every time, I'd think. Now, it's comfortably eclipsed our football as my favourite team sport. Won't know what to do with my Sundays until September, except get something that actually resembles a sleeping pattern.
I finally decided to learn the rules a couple of seasons ago and then realised I just don't like this game. :D
I gave it a go because I have friends who regularly go to the London games, but nah, not for me.
Kyle Shanahan is the worst coach in the NFL
The stuff with the Niners offensively is going to be interesting. There's no doubt that Shanahan can scheme up fantastic plays and get chunk yards relatively well. I'm going to wonder how much of his actual commitment to schemes that dial up more for running plays and using play action as the counter is due to his level of trust of Garoppolo. I think he inherently has trust him and Garoppolo showed that in phases of this game and previously had over the course of the season, warts and all. I think part of this actually shined brightest on the series of events after the Niners stopped the Chiefs prior to the end of the first half. They got the stop and allowed the clock to run, not calling a timeout. They did that and then did what most teams will do in that scenario: probe the defense with a run to see if that can ignite the offense and catch the defense off guard. I understand the approach but am still kind of confused as to why they didn't call the timeout. It felt passive. It comes across of being hesitant in yourself and scared of the opposition. If he was scared of the opposition, there's at least one instance where he took three points over going for it and clearly didn't show aggression to end the half.
Garoppolo doesn't strike me as a guy that can extend plays at a great rate of efficiency. It doesn't look like he can make stuff happen when the pocket evaporates but the guy is pretty solid when the pocket is there and works off PA (which is great with how potent their rush game can be). If Shanahan schemes going forward feeling like he doesn't have a full array at his disposal due to the QB, I think he is running a risk of undercutting himself.
All that said, if Garoppolo makes that pass to Sanders (which he has before this season), it's an entirely different perspective. I'm just curious how the outlook/perspective changes going forward with them.
Deebo samuel was great. Mostert was good but had fuckall for sample size. Curious to see how they do next year. Seems that historically the loser of any given SB faces some major regression.
Some major flubs from Shanahan too. Going away from the run when you have the lead in the 4th quarter was dumb no matter how you look at it imo.
Glad Mahomes won and it was honestly really cool to see a team make it to the end through grit of being down 10 or more points in each of their playoff wins.
To the people who hated the half time show, why you lying?
I'd love to go back and try to find the exact moment everyone started thinking halftime shows were supposed to be good.
They have always been and will always be the time they give to us all to go take a shit and get a beer. And for everyone else who doesnt need to get up, here look at something shiney and loud for 15 minutes.
the half time show gave us horny jeb bush https://twitter.com/JebBush/status/1224141849088135169
