:shifty:
I might be able to post here next season?
Haha excellent, Get fucked Forest.
Walk, Mowbray. While you've still got some dignity.
Fucked it.
:wiggle:
You'll forgive me if I don't regard the views of a Villa fan and a ??? fan as being entirely serious, but seeing as you asked:
1. I expect a squad that doesn't shit itself when it gets within sniffing distance of the playoffs (zero games in the top six in last three championship seasons).
2a. I expect a manager not to sell our first-choice goalkeeper to a promotion rival, and completely fail to replace him with somone of the same quality.
2b. I'd expect our goalkeeping coach to be someone with first-team experience, and not someone more suited to running kids' summer training camps.
2c. I'd expect any manager to identify weak areas in the team and use the transfer window to strengthen them. Not ignore our back line while spunking 12 million on two non-scoring srikers (but see also (4))
3. I'd hope our manager wouldn't dig out our young players in public (Nyambe, Travis, Brereton, Chapman) while protecting his favourites (Bennett, Mulgrew, Smallwood).
4. I expect to play our players in their best position i.e. Don't stick a 6'4" striker on the wing while there's a natural winger not even making the squad.
5 I expect our record against 'weaker' teams to be semi-decent. Wigan: one point from six. Charlton: three points. Barnsley: three points. Brum: one point. Luton: zero points. Huddersfield: one point.
To address your points specifically, he had to get us relegated to get us promoted (and threw the championship away by playing a weakened squad against Charlton), and a four place improvement on least season, but only three points better off. (17-12-17 rather than 16-12-18) Not really progress. Dack being injured was a blow, but his absence wasn't why we concded 6 goals in our last two games.
Sorry to be an arse here:
He comes into a club that is in the relegation zone, and gets a record of 5W, 6D, 3L compared to the rest of the season which was 4W, 8D, 17L) and you failed to stay up on goal difference. He then takes you back up with his first full season at an absolute canter (96pts). He then gets you comfortably safe in the Championship which you weren't when he took over. Now there's slight improvement, whilst being owned by one of the most notoriously shit owners in League football. Your net spend is 19th out of all EFL clubs over the last 5 years.
But he should walk? What are you actually after here?
Also - lolling hard at the outpouring of emotion from Blues fans over a player who left after a massive career total of 41 games, all in a season where they stayed up on the final day whilst losing at home
AND THEY RETIRED HIS SHIRT NUMBER FFS DN,AWNF,QWNFWNF.QWF.QWMDKMDK.MQ.
I feel sorry for anyone who started a career in football hoping one day to wear that prestigious Bitmingham City #22 shirt :lol:
You wonder why you wouldn't even let his brother wear it
It's honestly the worst thing I have ever heard of in football.
:hyper: Mon Brentford.
Frank shithousing in injury time was very reminiscent of Karanka in the Boro/Brentford semi a few years.back.
GO ON THE BRENTFORD
Fulham/Brentford in a derby please
New GK in, Which was a must and looks like Clarke will come back for the season which will be excellent as well.
Up ya cunt Gibson
Loving all the triggered Leeds fans.
Football is back! Again!
How's everyone feeling about their team before we kick off? I'm liking the squad depth that we have now. Farke has plenty of options in every position, maybe too many! We could still lose some of our young stars, but the recruitment has been savvy enough that we have replaced them already. I would love us to win it all again, and I think we should be the front runners but this is still the hardest league in the world to get promoted from and there are plenty of other teams also in with a shout. Fuck it, top 1 this year lads!
OKGO
Happy with Marshall and Byrne, Hope te Wierik proves a good signing and obviously keeping Clarke is a huge plus. Need more attacking options so let's see with that.
No new (non-loan) defenders for the third season running...on the other hand, this should be the season when Rankin-Costello makes an impact, and this young lad Dolan we picked up from Preston has looked a real prospect in pre-season.
Transfer kitty is largely dependant on whether we have sell-on clauses with King and Raya.
Guys can I just check if the #22 at Birmingham is still retired?
A win! We won! A game of football! In the league! :hyper:
Good for Tony Mowbray to be allowed to spend 200k on Middlesbrough's backup goalie. More ammo for Stan to use to complain he didn't get promoted in May.
Not biting.
Still waiting on one LB and one CB (at least). Latest rumour is that after we got gazumped for Ayala by a Saudi club, he flew over there and didn't fancy it (and who would blame him) and might sign for Rovers after all
Ayala makes it:
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/september/ayala-arrives/
So now just a proper left back and another DC as a stretch goal...
Barcelona want Max Aarons.
Madness.
What's happened with Derby Griff?
Who knows
We started last season really poorly as well, Then Rooney came in and fortunes changed, Is it that that initial influence has gone or is it not that simple? I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's manager before long
What’s happened to Forest too?
Manager is a dead man walking from last year I think. They've signed A LOT of players (again).
Most managers would fancy their chances with that squad...I expect them to try big in hiring maybe Hughton or someone
Yeah good point forgot about the collapse of last season. That squad is quite talented like.
Farke needs his dummy back.
How do you do it?
I dont even know. I may become a twitter ITK and tweet likely thing that might happen and delete ones that don't come off. Maybe even add some vague responses to questions.
Are Derby signing Charlie Austin?
There's a few interested.
That kinda thing
Should write for the Derby telegraph, They had an article on deadline day on how Leeds were signing Derby target Raphina  ... Ever since they went under a national paper umbrella their journalism is a disgrace.
I imagine we were very close to signing him for £20m when we wouldn't pay 1.8m for the striker from Germany.
I don't know where they get this stuff
Patrick Bamford should be England's main forward by now etc.
Don’t know why I’ve only just seen Bobby Duncan signed for Derby few weeks ago. How’s he been @son_of_foley @Peter Griffin
No worries
Think he got called up to England Under 20's we had maybe 4 call ups from the squad though Sibley I think has dropped now with injury
Reports we're going for Tom Trybull on loan...any thoughts @TraXX?
Decent defensive midfielder. Very combative, but his passing is simple and tidy. The Premier League was maybe a step too far, and it certainly didn't help not having a settled back line behind him. I'm sad he's been pushed out of the squad, but glad he has found another club.
Not a lot past his name. Academy kid, only 17. Sounds like a good prospect from the Rovers forum:
Quote:
Jared Harlock is one to keep an eye on - changed the game since he's come on in midfield.
Quote:
Was also impressed by Jared Harlock in midfield. Playmaker who dictated the tempo in that game. Another one to keep an eye on for the U23.
Quote:
-Harlock was the conductor in the centre. Great energy, effective passer and a lovely slide through to Brennan for his goal.
Bloody hell, I've been critical in the past, but that has to be the best window since the Venkys rolled up. Credit where it's due.
Not convinced by the need for a 3rd GK if he comes, but everyone else is an upgrade/fills a gap in the squad. Would agree the pressure's on to finish top 6 minimum, I just hope he doesn't revert to type and starts putting square pegs in round holes.
I would also say Sheff Wed have to go for it, they're on -7 at the moment.
Cocu is a good fella. But I think that is it for him.
Here comes the money.
Be mad if Cocu misses his last game due to the RONA
Indeed.
I would like him to stay but it is a bit awful atm. I blame Rooney for a lot of it. He needs to be taking a step back a little. It's not working with him there or in this setup so should be on the bench until they can 'in training' find a way to unlock him more.
3 at the back was looking decent. I would only change to a 4 when Bielek is back and basically have him flip between being a CB/DM/CM during the game.
Play is too static. With 3 at the back that suddenly unlocked Clarke and Wisdom breaking lines with the ball at feet (Keogh was basically the tactical crux of our game for X years). Bielek will bring that himself in spades. Is strong enough to drop into a back 3 when needed and with him there you MIGHT get away with Sibley beside Knight. All of a sudden a central area that was dead for 10 games becomes POPPING.
CB's moving. Dynamic CM with attacking intent. Jowziack/Ibe/Lawrence/Whittaker on wings. Decent fullbacks. You are 1 very good striker away from being competitors.
You can only blame Rooney in so much as the Manager feels he has to play him and he will play wherever he is asked. Let's face it, We saw how he worked best in the team last season.
.
Stop the count!
:shifty:
I do not agree.
With Pompey's playoff record I also disagree.
(some) Millwall fans boo the players taking the knee; Millwall then lose. Karma.
I saw that. Absolutely disgusted, but unfortunately not surprised. It is Millwall.
In other news; top of the league, having a laugh! The through ball for Josh Martins' goal will surely be flagged as pornography.
Well I didn't want to slur an entire support, but it is Millwall - someone posted a link to one of their forums before our game against them. Bloody hell, it was like the 1970's in there.
Afros, flares and funky disco music?
Now you mention it...
Norwich have gained 19 points after the 70th minute of games this season. Top of the league while still missing around 10 players with injuries.
Mental.
Whoopie.
At least you managed to take points off us...
Only because Pukki fell on his ass
No wins vs teams in top half of table
Blackburn were great today. Very unlucky to not get a point, and certainly one of the best teams we've played this season. You should be in the play offs at least at the end.
Dack and Travis re-injured. Dack's done his other ACL  End the season now.
Derby survive by 2 minutes plus time added on. Wycombe finish above Rotherham and Wednesday, but all three go down to league 1.
 7 goals from 30 starts lasrt season

If the Brentford fan (Torn iirc) still posts/reads on this forum, congratulations. Shame about ruining that 100% playoff record though. :D

I must be having a fever dream
I did double take when I saw on SSN he scored for Chile on his debut, didn't know he was a Chilean
Also petition to rename the thread 'Fuck the EFL'
Add an assist in his most recent game. Qualifies through his mum.Quote:

Fuck you.
If we hadn't changed things, we would have lost again, first half we looked like a bunch of strangers. Bradley Johnson was actually playing as the false 9. Story going round that player power won at half time and everyone played in their preferred positions in the second half. Would explain why Mowbray had a face like a slapped arse during a home win.
With respect isn't that his natural face?
Got a lot of love for Bradley. Scored a few belters for us, and I love the celebration
Goodbye Tony.
Things I'd like to thank him for:
- Bringing stability
- Promotion from League One
- Never seriously involving us in a relegation fight since then
- Some good signings
- The short-lived but great feeling of having been in 2nd and making me dare (foolishly) to think we might actually do this
- Being a man who clearly loves the game and happily talks at length about it, even if he sometimes talks himself into cul-de-sacs
- Bringing youth through - occasionally didn't do this enough, but can't deny that not many managers would have introduced this many U23s, or watch most of their games as he does
Things I definitely don't thank him for:
- Bizarre tactical decisions - round pegs in square holes, taking forever to realise when something or someone wasn't working, playing favourites and seemingly ostracising others, etc
- Antagonising the fans with sly remarks, and being petulant when questioned
- Sticking around way past his time despite saying he would resign if he was a burden
- Horrendous second half of the season collapses, including pissing away our best chance of promotion since Venkys took over
- Some poor signings, including an obsession with ex-Boro players and signing his mate's shit son
- Misallocating his budgets in strengthening the wrong areas of the squad (no defenders for ages even when he said they were coming, spending 7 million, most of our budget, on a future project striker, collecting excessive amounts of players in one area of the pitch whilst neglecting others, etc)
- Not bringing youth players out for dead rubber games on the scale it should be done
- Being complicit in the blatant lies about the training ground plans, and being far less honest than is constantly made out
- An abysmal attitude, at times, on the touchline and in press conferences, that made it look like he didn't give a fuck
- Relying too much on loanees even whilst saying we needed to build for the longer term
- Extremely premature cup exits, every time
- Overall, just not being good enough to take us to that next level (adding to this, blaming resources for it when teams like Barnsley and Luton have made the playoffs ahead of us and don't have a shining academy or our budget, and having made remarks that he turns down extra funds)
Well said.
Top 1 this year lads.
What team?
https://external-content.duckduckgo....png&f=1&nofb=1
There's still work to do, we're a bit short in defence and midfield, need Ash Phillips to sign his first pro contract, and decide whether Brereton Diaz is staying or going. However, the atmosphere around the club since Tomasson joined has turned 180 degrees. Just need Venky's and Waggott not to fuck it up.
Hah, wasn't that big on the preview.
