Emo Mike
6 episodes into the first season, this show is pretty sweet. I've been up since 1am the last 2 nights watching this show having to get up for work by 5....ugh.
Who would we like to see cast in season 3? We had someone from Aliens and a general Aliens vibe to season 2, so Kurt Russel, with a The Thing thing going on? Ethan Hawke with some The Explorers stuff?
I think they are setting up Eleven vs. Eight. Of course 1985 is the year of Time Travel.
1985 might just be the greatest year in cinema history.

 Winona Face
If you're thinking 1994, I get where you're coming from, but 1985 takes it comfortably.
In 1939, we got Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington plus Hunchback of Notre Dame. These are the cornerstone of cinema. If you are talking about modern cinema, I would have to go with 1982. ET, Wrath of khan, Blade Runner, Tootsie, Poltergeist, The Thing and 48 hours. 1987 is a fucking ridiculous year.
Definetly 1994.
Bumping for Bandit
We binged over two days.
I really liked most of the season, episode what the bloody hell was that poorly written nonsense aside, but I felt something was missing and I couldn't put my finger on what.
Then, last episode's Snow Ball, lightbulb. Those final moments were all heart and that's what was missing. Not just being a great show, season one just made you smile a lot of the time. This season, much less so. Still very good, but not as good.
Best moment of the season for me wasSean Astin had played Bob very simply up until that point, but the scene in the cupboard was out of this world acting. Same goes for Mike's explosion at Hopper.
I banged out both seasons in about 2 weeks. Great show. I was always on the fence about it because I don't really get into shows that have massive amounts of hype but my boss, who never watches anything, got into it so I had to check it out.
I wish we had more than what, 8-9 episodes a season but damn it's fantastic. I completely get why so many different people like this show. The girl who plays Eleven is magic. I have massive amounts of respect for actors who can pull off that kind of emotion without many words.
Binged this over thanksgiving day and I must say I think this season outdid season 1. A lot of tremendous progression of characters really made it fire on all cylinders and I am ready for more but it seems this isn't coming back until 2019.
I know a lot of people bashed on episode 7 but to me it had such a the warriors vibe I enjoyed it. This show is just really well done and if you haven't seen it you are missing out.
Contemplating about re-watching both seasons since I binged them with the quickness. They were great. I say this cuz it's fresh as we all do at times but I think this is right up there with my all time favorite shows like The Shield and Walking Dead. It's not Tales from the Crypt but what is?
I like the show a fair bit, but all time favourite that's a bold claim.
I'll have to think more about where I place it.
Re-watching shows for me is very rare for anything that isn't a comedy.
I just don't watch a lot of t.v. so my "favorites" list is pretty small. Tales from the Crypt, The Shield, True Blood, Walking Dead, Oz, Married With Children, and South Park. I've always been more of a movie type and obviously wrestling so if that counts as a show like The Shield we can add that as well.
I was a little young to be into shows like Friends and Seinfeld and the shows that were popular when I got into my 20's I didn't really care for. You'd find me watching Forensic Files before a show like Grey's Anatomy for example.
Stranger Things will get a rematch from me for sure. I really wished I would have rewatched season 1 before I jumped into 2. Just a memory bump really. Anywho, I really do like this as it has a great story but the way it's filmed and the elements that it borrows from (carpenter, Spielberg, etc) really just jumps me back to being a kid. I smile every time I think of this show and a big part of it is just those subconscious memories coming into play.
The soundtrack definitely has a John Carpenter feel to it. Or John Harrison's score for Romero's Day of the Dead.
What I wish is that I had watched the first season when it dropped last year so I could have that joyous waiting feeling as opposed to going directly from 1 to 2 within a matter of days.
I did exactly the same. I binged watch both seasons back to back for the first time, and did it within 3 days. I know what you mean about that feeling but I guess we have that feeling now as we wait for Season 3.
I don’t like this feeling no more. :(

great trailer
Can. Not. Wait.
I hope the season is as good as the trailer. Last season was just okay from what I remember.
Yeah, i wasn't that high on the last season (I'm not super duper high on the show overall but it's good) but that's a pretty great trailer and I'll be watching.
This season's trailer looks more interesting to me.
I thought it looked OK. Though nothing really stood out to get me excited besides the thought that we have a new season coming. Of course they're not revealing anything, but I feel like they held back so much that I don't really know what to make of it.
"How many children are you friends with?" That's a good line. I don't foresee this show ever topping the first season, but I'm still going to keep watching.
This show clicks like a movie franchise. In fact I seem to recall that the original concept was pitched as a film and then it got turned into a show. And just like any good franchise you can't top the first installment but you can still put out quality material. Season two was fine. It kept the vibe and expanded the characters a little and I honestly cannot wait for season 3 as it feels like the show might be ready to go even bigger this year.
That’s a great trailer.
So...season 3?
i loved it. Very dark, very heavy, very well paced. The last ten minutes had me shedding actual tears.
I enjoyed it. Seemed a bit short for my taste but some good stuff. Bit bummed Netflix has banned cigarettes from the show because people are sheep apparently.
Hopefully they ban murders in film and TV next because everytime I see someone get murdered that's exactly what I want to do!
I don't know if I even want to watch this season. I've seen people talking about how it's filled with SJW feminist garbo.
I've liked each season progressively less. @Melly and I tried to get through this season but it was a chore and we tapped out about 10 minutes into episode 6. Just couldn't take it anymore. Just did not care about anything or anyone anymore. Won't be bothering with season 4.
God. I thought this season was amazing. Probably better than season 2 by a pretty wide margin.
I don't think it was a DOTD vibe as much it was The Blob, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Red Dawn, a sprinkle of Terminator and THE NEVER ENDING STOOOOORRRYYYY
It was more of a dollop than a sprinkle.
Whoops.
I would love a sequel to Orgazmo. It's long overdue for them to make another movie.
Great season. Wish they had a couple more episodes just for the simple fact of how good this series is. My next comment I'm going to spoiler, it's not even a big deal but there's a tiny part that someone might freak out about it so...
Who are your favourite characters? I enjoy Billy, Max, and Robin the best.
I actually need that one explained lol
quick with the edits, huh.
lol
@Morrison you have to admit the reply was pretty funny to your white knighting of poor Robin.
And you're (sorry, youre) a weirdo, what the hell are you doing here?
Waiting until 3pm CST to switch to his Matthew account. :)
On topic though, is there a show with a better soundtrack? I don't even mean the "real" songs, but the score, that synth sound they have going is beautiful. For sure has that 80's sci fi vibe.
you had an avatar of a girl having her shorts removed to expose her underwear by some big man hands and are making dumb comments about fucking a television character in high school while alluding to not needing to worry about the kinda consequences back then that you would nowadays, but im the weirdo.
Well then it's ok. Party on. Back on topic or something. (I'm late starting the show because of too much other shit to watch, but I'll be back)
I was happy this was only 8 episodes so I could take a break from the following list of shows I'm watching:
Hulu:
The Strain
South Park
Netflix:
Shameless
Supergirl
Legends of Tomorrow
Into the Badlands
Almost all of these I'm on the most recent available season but yeah it's tough. I'm sure I'm missing a couple shows, probably anime that I don't get to watch ever.
Really thought this was a massive upgrade from Season 2. And I liked Season 2.
I also thought this was a big improvement from season 2. I wasn’t a fan of the creatures in that season, as they felt like a step-down from the threat of the Demogorgon. I liked that they went all-out on the monsters this time around, in terms of size and gore, and that the story steered away from a sole focus on Will.
The more comedic vibe took me a bit by surprise, but I eased into it. Steve and Dustin remains a great pairing and I really enjoyed the addition of Robin. She fit in pretty seamlessly. Plot spoilers below.
Pay gap equality, the President is Lynda Carter (OG Wonder Woman) who just so happens to be an illegal intergalactic alien lol. And if I remember, the Trump character is like the Secretary of Defense so any time he's mentioned it's always a diss about his hair, his fake tan, his over the top tweets.
I don't watch this show, but caught an article online that Netflix are censoring smoking on this show along with other shows so putting this in here.
Of all the gratuitous stuff Netflix show on their shows, they target smoking? Lol okay then!
I can understand for shows set in the present, as these days more people know about the risks of smoking, but in the 80s it was more commonplace to smoke. It's realistic to have adult characters smoking. A better idea would be to have the child characters have a look of disgust when they see adult characters smoking. Or show some D.A.R.E. logos throughout the show
It's people own choice though. Warnings about smoking are posted everywhere, even on the cigarette packets themselves with pictures of fucked up organs here in the UK (don't know how packets are elsewhere in the world). The likelihood of people deciding to smoke just because they saw something on Netflix is probably very slim. Netflix shouldn't have to be pressured or feel guilty.
Just finished the season. Definitely thought it was a big upgrade on the second and I'm looking forward to a fourth.
The lack of smoking in the next season is a weird thing for them to go for. I can only presume that they'd been getting pressured about it but it's so innocuous in the show.
The D.A.R.E campaign is full swing by 1986. So, it being a point in the show makes total sense.
Loved this season. Better than 2 for sure. Almost better than 1.
They really leaned into the silliness of it all at points but it was charming enough that it wasn't corny.
Seems like we picked up on a couple of the same things
Re: the final episode
It was great how well Dustin meshed with all ages - Erica and Steve/Robin.
Something that stood out to me a little bit was the total lack of sibling interaction between Nancy/Mike and Will/Jonathan given how well that was shown in series 1 and 2. We had Erica/Lucas and Max/Billy of course but it jarred a little bit how we barely saw the others acknowledge each other when they were in the same scenes.
I agree on the sibling thing. I get Mike and Nancy being worlds apart, but Jonathan and Will have a concrete relationship. If anything I was waiting for Johnathan to make the sacrifice play to save Will
Or even just say hi to each other.
If you hadn't seen 1 or 2 before 3 then you'd have absolutely no idea that they've even met before, let alone grew up together.
I finally got around to watching season 3, and it is way better than I expected it to be. I like it more than I do season 2. I don't know where people get that Will is gay. The kid just has no interest in girls yet. People mature at different rates. I knew dudes that graduated as virgins, or without ever having a girlfriend while in school, and they all turned out normal, except for one that ended up commiting suicide. I enjoyed it being broken up into 3 stories. Steve, Dustin, Robin, and Erica killed it. I love Robin even though they ruined her by jumping on the SJW train. Her and Steve would have made a great couple. Maya Hawke is a an amazing talent too. I even like her music, and hope she puts out a whole album eventually.
When I saw that particular scene, I didn't even think "Oh are they trying to say Will is gay?" until I read some comments on line and I was like, ok I get it. But to me I was thinking about the dudes I knew at that age who were still holding on to playing Dungeons and Dragons, Super Nintendo, and "war" with our toy guns at the church. My cousin Erik was a perfect WILL back in the day and we did get some people thinkin "Oh him and Larry are probably gay" but it was like naw dude, they just care about the important shit.
Because guess what, both those motherfuckers make more money and have a better education and life than the majority of the people I grew up with who were chasing weed and pussy lol.
The people that think he is want him to be. It's part of their agenda.
Which is pretty weird to me when you think about it. Insinuating that scene implied Will was gay....is that a good thing? What the fuck, are we building fantasy football teams here? lol. "Will is such a strong representative for the LGBTQ community!" How? The dude is 13 and wants to still be a kid, nothing about that should stir up debates on sexuality.
It's progressive propaganda just like Greta Goebbels, just the opposite. They want people to think that climate change is a choice by man, but sexuality isn't.
Yeah the earth has been polluted naturally in exactly the way that little 6lb, 2oz baby Jesus intended!
Quote:
The major greenhouse gas is of course carbon dioxide (CO2) and nearly all CO2 comes from fossil fuels and land-use change. But methane (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), which mostly come from agriculture and waste, are also significant GHGs and shouldn't be discounted.
Iove how Nash and DVDA are hijacking thread for their GOP bullshit talking points.
The demogorgon was a transexual role model.
#DemogorgonTransandProud
We're not hijacking the thread at all. This is literally one of the main topics of discussion throughout the season after that episode aired where dude was called out for not liking girls. DVDA's view on that isn't exactly the same as mine. I didn't take it as the show itself pushing any kind of agenda, I think the fans misread the scene but I could see why someone would definitely think the show put that in there as water cooler talk.
Oh are they implying he's gay? That's a discussion people like to have, like it's some incredible mystery to be solved if you're gay or not lol. But I took that scene differently, I took it as here's a young teenage boy who's still about playing with action figures and board games while his 2 homeys are wanting to get with girls.
