I'm not a big Mario Kart guy. Don't have it for the Switch. But I just so happened to stumble across this video the same time I saw this thread bumped.
If anyone out there runs into Joycon drift problems, which seems to be a fairly common issue, and doesn't want to spend full retail price to replace the problem controller, there's a very good bootleg Joycon set available for half the price, that's almost as good as the real deal.

Dude even takes them apart. They're basically identical, except they lack an IR sensor and they don't have the fancy pants "HD Rumble".
Why don't you just win all the races Fro?
Good games bud. You know it’s funny how people say the items (blue shell, bullet etc) make this game too even/random but there is such a steady talent slope. I can clean up at this level but put me in with the 10K folks and I’ll be mince meat. There was one race there though where I was about to finish around 9th and a bullet bill propelled me to 4th.
I’ve been doing some offline practice too, trying to 100% the Grand Prix’s. I still have a couple mirror and 200cc cups that I need to triple star. But I unlocked gold mario recently (by finishing 1st in all 200cc cups) so that’s who I’ve been maining.
Hey a bullet bill is earned. Earned by being in the back. I love it.
For those who didn't have it on Wii U, let me tell ya, Pikmin 3 is delightfully fun.

E-Shop sale. USA only? Maybe, idk. Anyway I think I'm going to cop Luigi's Mansion 3 for $42

Edit: I bought luigis mansion and what the golf

oh boy this is gonna be a total shitshow. only available until March 2021, so grab it now because it's gonna be crazy expensive on the secondary market
holy cow, lots of stuff. here is the full direct, which I haven't watched yet

The rumors were true.
Now I guess I can stop trying to play Sunshine on my phone.
The Mario Kart live action kit is probably not for me but it seems pretty cool for kids.
The Super Mario Bros 35 Battle Royale (multiplayer version of Super Mario Bros 1) definitely seems like something I'll check out. Looks fun.
And yea Mario 3D All Stars will almost certainly be a purchase for me.
Interesting how they're doing the limited runs with these. What's the strategy there?
I assume it's make as much money off the collections as you can before selling everything individually.
Very disappointed the 3D All-Stars doesn't have Galaxy 2 on it. Seems like a waste.
I'm playing octopath traveler right now, and it is a lot of fun.
Octopath is excellent. I still need to finish that myself one of these days.
Ok going back to watch the rest of the direct now and Mario 35 sounds right up my alley. I love Tetris 99 and this sounds about the same
Pre-ordered mine just now.
Can't wait to give up trying to get all the blue coins in Sunshine but this time on the SWITCH!
I am all digital on my Switch. I don't ever plan to sell my Switch, or sell my games really. There might be an exception to that at some point but even if a game like Luigi's Mansion 3 will only last me 15-20 hours and then I'll be done with it, I still want to play it again, say, 5 years from now. Coincidentally that was a mistake I made with Super Mario Sunshine. Played it, sold it, and years later had a hankering to replay it and it was really expensive to buy again.
P.S. I am about 8 hours into Luigi's Mansion 3 and it's really fun and cute. Enjoying it, glad I got it on sale.
I didn’t preorder, but my close friend works the electronics section of target and will just hold me a copy lol
I’m all physical with games. I don’t like the idea of buying things I can’t ever liquidate into money for other stuff. I sold so many PlayStation 1-3 games a few years back that I really didn’t think would be worth much, but the value was there. Nintendo stuff also really holds its value well and goes up in value in the long run.
It holds it's value because their cheap asses never do price drops.
Breath of The Wild came out over 3 years ago and is still $60.
I have a hacked switch from the 1st gen with a 1tb micro sd and so many games I have difficulty choosing what to play.
But I can also use my wife's switch lite that I got her for Animal Crossing if I really want to buy and play something online.
Never even played the 2nd one. The first was so short I felt ripped off.
My concern with downloading games is being able to play them in the future if my system breaks, I have to get a new one and now the online ability to redownload that game has gone away. I don't trust Nintendo in that respect.
Having said that, I do occasionally download games for my switch. That ghostbusters game for one. And my PS3 is still loaded with RE games and a few others that I would find for a great price or during a sale.

Nintendo is loving these stealth drop announcements.
I just complained to my wife how Nintendo just announced all this shit that I immediately want. I don’t even give a fuck about next gen consoles, but Mario 35, Mario collection, and now this BOTW warriors game have me so hype.
I'll care about next gen just as soon as they announce GTA6.
Amazon no longer taking orders for 3D All Stars.
It will probably come back in stock but if it doesn't gamestop and target still have it for preorder online.
I just don't know what Nintendo's logic is on not making this a permanent title.
They're trying to spike sales in the next two quarters, they will absolutely release it again a few months later
Might even mug you all off by releasing a version with Galaxy 2 on it. Like they did with All Stars + World
Scott Pilgram vs. The World coming out for the Switch Holidays 2020. Pretty stoked, I have it on my PS3 but that thing could die any moment.
I'm surprised. I remember there being massive license issues with that game, a big deal when it was removed from the PS3 store.
Yeah I was pretty surprised to see it being released again. Really is a fun 4 player beat'em up game.
One more day until a fuck ton of Mario shows up on my front porch.

Okay the motherfuckers went and changed something from my childhood thats just beyond forgiveness.
In Mario 64, Mario no longer says "So long gay Bowser!" when he throws Bowser into a bomb during battle.
Nevermind that he's actually saying "So long king Bowser" or something like that. The point is that "So long, gay Bowser" is a major part of the passive agressive gay bashing that I partook in as a teenager in the 90s. We used to laugh our asses off at that little phrase every time Mario said it. Or didn't say it. Or he said it but really said something else. Whatever.
Now he says "Buh-Bye."
Pffffffffffffffffft.
I'm pretty sure it's just, "So long, Bowser" with an exaggerated Italian accent. So like, "So long-e, Bowser!" It was never much of a "haha, he's saying gay" thing to me as much as it was just a silly pronunciation that stuck with me for years.
But I'm still annoyed that they got rid of it.
RIP Gay Bowser
Charles Martinet said it was so long, Kinga Bowser.
https://www.nintendoenthusiast.com/c...-kinga-bowser/
They didn’t get rid of it for this version specifically, my understanding is it had already been changed in an international release from 1997, a release that also fixed a few minor bugs.... and that is the version they chose to port here.
Doesn’t really change the impact of that phrase being gone from your game RP but that’s the history
Anyone who likes roguelites should check out Hades, I'm really enjoying it.
https://youtu.be/vFvOsajceY0
DKC2 now on the SNES online thing. I can now shut up about it.
I liked it so much I used my $10 epic coupon to buy it on there and have now played more on my laptop with a bluetooth controller then I ever did on switch. I'm excited for them to add cross-save so I can just play wherever I feel like. I'm stuck on the 2nd boss right now but loving every minute of it. I think I like the spear the best so far.
I’m playing other games as well (I have a problem with that) so just doing a run in Hades every day or two. I think I like the bow the most, but the shield is very fun as well. I don’t think I’ve even tried the spear yet. Maybe haven’t even unlocked it. I think I’ve made eight escape attempts so far.
Ok, I have the spear now. All of the weapons are fun to use but I think I’m starting to prefer the shield. The ricochet effect is satisfying.
I bought Super Mario 3d Allstars and it was fun to play Mario 64 on the Switch. I have never played Mario Galaxy or Sunshine, so I am looking forward to playing and finally beating them. Funny enough, I did complete Mario Galaxy 2 and that was one of my favorite games on the Wii. I wish it was on this game, but these games are good enough.
Yeah, I always preferred Galaxy 2, so it's a shame it's not on there's. But the first one is still excellent.
I'm also one of the few people that actually enjoys Sunshine.
I got Mario 3D All-Stars yesterday for my birthday. I havent ever played Sunshine so will probably play that first.
Sunshine is wonderful but it just wasn't finished yet and it's obvious. Nintendo wanted it out by summer 02 instead of 03 and they had to just rush it out. All those boring yet frustrating blue coins to collect, the flat, dull, hub world, the shortage of fully developed levels, there was an amazing game waiting to be made there but it got rushed and it became just a very good game.
Also since Mario 64 was a launch title for the N64 and fans had been waiting for so long for the sequel they wanted something grand and perfect. Sunshine was odd and flawed and those few issues it had became magnified.
It remains the only Mario game I never fully beat because of the blue coins. I got 118, once, I think.
Well I never fully completed Odyssey either but cmahn that shit is crazy.
Super Mario Bros 35 is pretty darn fun! Still enjoying Hades, and downloaded Ys Origin today as well.
I've jumped on the Animal Crossing bandwagon. It is charming and a fun wind down at the end of the day. I also downloaded the Ori sequel game. Eager to play, I loved The Blind Forest.
Minecraft in Smash.
Quite the surprise there.
Got my first 1st place on SMB 35. Did a victory lap around the house.
You’ll probably start winning a lot more until people start unlocking later stages. I have 15 wins, which has less to do with skill and more to do with my familiarity with the first two stages. I’ve unlocked the first 4 worlds and it definitely gets more difficult when a later stage shows up. (4-3 with a bunch of those spiny things coming at you is not easy lol.)
Downloaded SMB35. Looks crazy.
Where do you get SMB35? Is it on Nintendo eshop?
Waiting for the updated hardware. No point getting one now because all sources say a revised console is out next year. i’ve held off this long vs cos I only really want it for the Zelda games and the Snes classics. I’ve heard the new model will be TV only, with no handheld mode and include a Pro Controller in the box, which is exactly what i want.
New Ghosts and Goblins coming in February, for those looking to be punished (I am!):
https://www.polygon.com/2020/12/10/22168882/ghosts-n-goblins-resurrection-nintendo-switch-release-date
Looks interesting. I'm still trying to beat the original.
Yeah I haven’t beaten any of them either. Even with save states!
Hyrule warriors: age of calamity is a nice little time waster. few hiccups every now and again but nice
Monster Hunter Rise demo is out.
I got Super Mario 3D All Stars a little while back and have been playing Mario 64. It's a very smooth port. Once I beat it I'll move onto the next, and gradually try to 100% each of them.
Also will be finishing Luigi's Mansion 3 soon, which is a reasonably fun game.
Not really much exciting stuff on the calendar for 2021 is there? I was looking at upcoming games and didn't see anything big.
Scott Pilgrim on the 14th.
Cyber Shadow from yachtclub games who did Shovel Knight on the 26th.
Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury - February 12th.
Persona 5 Strikers - Feburary 23rd.
Bravely Default 2 - Feburary 26th.
Monster Hunter Rise - March 26th.
No More Heroes 3 - TBA
Rune Factory 5 - TBA
Hollow Knight: Silksong - TBA
Disgaea 6 - TBA
Monster Hunter Stories 2 - TBA
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox - TBA
Windjammers 2 - TBA
Shin Megami Tensei V - TBA
Bayonetta 3 - TBA
Metroid Prime 4 - TBA
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild 2 - TBA
Anybody else pick up two copies of the Mario 35th Anniversary game?
I got two. One to play and one to keep in the plastic and flip for a princely sum when Nintendo goes all "Disney Vault" and stops selling physical copies in March.
Mario 3D thing with angry bowser looks awesome. I love Mario so much
Another example of how if you didn't own Wii U then your Switch catalog will be nice and hefty. But for those of us who did... I mean that slate Bert posted above is none too interesting to me so I'm feeling it'll be a dull year.
Mario 3D World was good. Not one of my favorites in the series - I strongly prefer the open world style of Odyssey to the linear 3D style - but it was definitely fun. One day after I finish 3D All Stars I will whip out my Wii U again and re-play 3D World and Pikmin 3.
I'm personally hyped for No More Heroes 3, the new Hollow Knight, and the new Metroid and Zelda. Though I'm not sure how much I trust that either of those last two will actually be out this year.
I've been playing Octopath Traveler here and there the last couple weeks. Decent enough, I've enjoyed it so far.
As for new games Scott Pilgrim was great on the PS3. Looking forward to rebuying on the Switch.
https://youtu.be/wXDrkSzfNc8
I didn't have an n64 so I only played the original once or twice at a friend's house so I'm pretty excited for this one. Looks great.
I finally bought Breath of the Wild since it's on sale for $40 at Best Buy. Got the physical copy (everything else I own is digital) since that was how you get the sale price and also I may re-sell it eventually. Never been a Zelda guy but going to give it a go.
I don’t know anyone who didn’t get some enjoyment out of this game and most of my friends like FPS or fighting games, so this isn’t usually their thing. I think it’s just such a fun open-world game that people enjoy getting lost in it. Outside of the first 10 minutes you never have to really do anything else lol.
Oh I will give you some advice. Just dick around and pick a random point to go fight Gannon. Because if you go around the whole map finding secrets for 60 hours of gameplay, beating all four sacred beast dugeons, you'll arrive at Gannon like I did.
So fucking jacked to the gills and full of superpowers that he became the easiest boss to best since K. Rool in DKC. I turned him into liquid shit on my first try because I was just wayyyy too leveled up.
BotW is one of my favorite games ever. With any luck, the sequel will be released this year, and will be even better. (Definitely some things they could improve on.) Playing Paper Mario: The Origami King right now.
Number one and only thing I want is some actual Zelda like dungeons. The sacred beasts were weak. But I want some giant badass dugeons. My concept would require you to beat certain dungeons in order to open up "gates" between sections of the overworld. Don't want to beat the dungeon? Fine. But you gotta walk around sucka.
I completed Mario Sunshine last night and found the final boss a lot easier than Ganon or K. Rool. Weird game.
Do yous reckon they'll bring out a Zelda Allstars for the anniversary? I was reading last night that Skyward Sword wouldn't translate well due to the motion controls, I dunno cause it's the only main Zelda game I haven't played. Regardless, I think it would be Ocarina, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess but I'm praying for Majora's Mask as well.
I finished Luigi's Mansion 3. Fun game. Not a must-play by any means but an enjoyable 16 hours.
As far as these not-very-long first party single player Nintendo games go, I would rank these as such:
1. Pikmin 3 (9/10). Love it to death.
2. Captain Toad Treasure Tracker (8/10). Fun puzzler.
3. Luigi's Mansion 3 (7/10). Good fun but not amazing.
can now confirm BOTW is very good
I played it for the first time in a year today and yes it is.
Oh not far. I'm a slow player. I'm likely still under 5 hours played. Let's see if I can explain this without looking up names or reference points... I recently got my first horse tamed/registered and then travelled to the Kaikatu Village (?) and my last save was when I'm about to walk in to see the Lady there and she's about to explain more stuff to me about my journey.
And I am loving it.
It really is amazing how it hooks you in from the first like 10-20 minutes before you've hardly even explored anything.
