So they're not saying who was shot? Who opens for him?
The Strange mods at The Siccness and TRT9 have been deleting every topic and post about it cause Travis is a punk bitch, but I seen a post before it got trashed saying it was Jay Rocks hypeman EMJ.
They have been on a roll over the past couple months signing Stevie Stone, Mayday, Jay Rock, & Young Bleed so I can kinda understand why they don't want the negative publicity, but being a post Nazi isn't gonna help.

Police investigate stabbing at concert
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred at a rap concert late Wednesday night.
It happened during a Tech N9ne performance at the Black Sheep on East Platte Avenue near North Union Boulevard.
Officials said one man was stabbed in the back during the concert. He was taken to the hospital for his injuries and later released.
Police said they do not have any suspects or further information on the incident.
Tech N9ne is expected to perform again Thursday night, and officials said there will be extra security for that show

Alright, I just finished RAW by Hopsin and it was great. You were right Fro.
I'm going to go ahead and recommend that everyone download these 2 Hopsin albums and hope that people have learned their lesson about not listening to my recommendations when they realized how great Childish Gambino is. :p
But seriously, this guy is great. I don't understand how this year was my first time hearing a song by him. Great lyrics, great flows, great beats.

I actually like the Kendrick Lamar album. More than OD and his other stuff I had heard. A lot of the production is right up my alley, I love the hard ass drums. He seems like he really made an effort to come hard lyrically too. I like the concept tracks (the His/Her songs) a lot. I still don't really know what to think of him overall, but I like this album a lot.

https://www.circleintosquare.com/item/hello-cruel-world
On Hello Cruel World, Sole aka Tim Holland returns with the Skyrider Band for his first full length since the split with Anticon, and his third album with the Skyrider Band. While much was made of Sole leaving the Anticon empire he helped create, there's a refreshing, new found confidence and focus not seen since his now-classic albums Selling Live Water and Bottle of Humans. On Hello Cruel World sees Sole has assembled an army of the most exciting voices in indie culture to be apart of the new record, recruiting everyone from LILBTHEBASEDGOD, Xiu Xiu, Pictureplane, Sage Francis, Ceschi, and more, to create a pretty stunning tapestry that is a new high water mark in Sole's creative output. The album drops July 19th on cd, vinyl, and digital via Fake Four Inc., with the European release being handled by Equinox Records.
Perhaps even more interesting, listeners will notice that Sole has adopted the most deliberate flow of his career--abandoning the freewheeling, hyper-timed assaults of his earlier work in favor of a biting clarity and all around accessibility. The record draws on the wealth of his newly found freedom, tapping into the positivity and ethics of a DIY tradition he has always known and embraced throughout his career - transforming his past cynicism into a call to arms and personal empowerment. The Skyrider Band itself has been similarly transformed; trading in their dense soundscapes and organic touchstones for an impeccable attention to detail and more studio-centric productions.
On Sole and the Skyrider Band's last record, Plastique, Sole claimed, “I've been digging my grave since age 15.” Since then, he's been hard at work converting his grave into trenches that span from California to Barcelona, and the bottom of the ocean to the moon. Hello Cruel World occupies these trenches, steadfastly refusing to be flushed into a niche.

RZA Teases Unreleased ODB Material
'When you got an estate, it's so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with,' Wu-Tang mastermind says of late friend's music.
Wu-Tang Clan ain't nothin' ta eff wit, and neither are the RZA's beats. While in Berlin promoting his new headphone line, Chambers by RZA, the Wu producer told MTV News that he has given beats to a number of hip-hop artists, including Nas, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris, as well as his cousin and Wu-partner GZA for his Liquid Swords 2 album.
"Me and GZA talked about doing Liquid Swords part 2, a sequel. We talked about it for a while," RZA said about the follow-up to GZA's 1995 album. "We actually started a little bit and then we pulled back based on scheduling, based on my movie."
RZA's love affair with Hollywood is no secret. As an actor, Bobby Digital has appeared in "American Gangster" alongside Russell Crowe and has recently been cast in "G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes." RZA has also been hard at work directing "The Man With the Iron Fists," a movie set in feudal China that will star Russell Crowe, Pam Grier and Lucy Liu.
"The movie has taken me out of the loop of music. But what I have been doing, I've been going to studios and inviting people to my studio. So I went to the studio with Luda and I emptied beats from my beat machine for him. Whether he use it or not is up to him, but I just been emptying out my beat machines," RZA said before revealing more of his collaborative hopefuls. "I emptied out some beats on Busta, I emptied out some beats on Nas, emptied out some beats for [Ghostface Killah] and for Wu-Tang Clan — just sent them 20 beats a few weeks ago."
Though he is very passionate about making movies at the moment, RZA knows music is what got him where he is today. "I really want to put a lot of my energy into film, but I know that I got here because of music and I know people dig my music. And I'm like, 'Why not put the music out there too?' "
Judging from his activity, it is a safe bet that fans can hear a lot of new RZA music in the near future, but anyone expecting to hear collaborations between the producer and his cousin, the late Ol' Dirty Bastard, shouldn't get their hopes up. While the Abbot does confirm that he has plenty of unreleased Ol' Dirty material, releasing those tunes would be quite difficult.
"That's a very tricky situation, because ODB has passed and he has an estate," he said. "When you got an estate, it's so much paperwork and red tape and legal stuff you gotta deal with. I tried to put out a song last year called 'Dirt's the Boogie,' and they threatened me with an injunction and I wrote the lyrics to the song. Made the beat, wrote the lyrics and Dirty just performed it."
Instead of holding onto the work, though, RZA is contemplating leaving the unheard recordings to Dirty's son when the time is right. "I will tell the fans, I do have a few 2-inch reels of material nobody has but me. I don't know what I'll do with it," he said. "Maybe in time I'll just give it to his son, I don't know."

I'll be honest, I have a pretty big soft spot for SubNoize. KMK, HEDpe (though I was on them way before SubNoize), Madchild & Swollen Members, Coka Nostra, Saigon, hell I even have some Corporate Avenger, Mower and Authority Zero cds. Seen KMK live a couple times.. once @ the beaumont club with HEDpe and Mower.. and again opening for Tech @ memorial hall .. they have a really fun, high-energy live show. I'll probably check this cd out.

I'm just saying Saigon and LCN's music really isn't anything like the other stuff, except for being rap. Especially someone like Saigon, who has totally different subject matter, and I would think an entirely different demographic.
Dubya
July 18th, 2011, 9:26 AM
I get what you're saying, but I think its a bit silly.. so because their music is different than KMK, they're not considered part of the label? That really makes no sense at all. Wouldn't you want your label to have different sounds that attract different demographics? SubNoize is a pretty diverse label really.. they have a bunch of different rappers and even a handful of rock bands. I don't think that any of the other artists really sound like KMK for the most part. Some of them have that "SoCal" feel to them cuz a lot of them are from that area, but not all and not all the ones that are have that sound, so I don't think they really have a certain sound to their label. I mean, why would you want a bunch of artists that just sound like you on your label? Kinda limits your audience and makes it grow stale.

I used to really like (hed) but Jared is a complete fuckin dumbass. I'm tired of hearing the same shit over and over. He changes religions with every album while bashing his fans for their religious and political views, bashes people how don't believe in the reptilian Agenda. I know I talk about Reptilians, the Anunnaki, and Nibiru a lot, but that doesn't mean I believe all that shit. I believe in the Nephilim talked about in Genesis and the Book of Enoch. I would never attack the people paying my fuckin bills though.
As for the rest of Suburban Noize.....KMK is one of my favorite groups. I wish Saint Dog was still part of the group, but at least him and Big Hoss are on the label so it's whatever. I also dig Too Rude/Dog Boy, Mower, X-Clan. and Dirtball. Big B is a cool dude too. I don't really dig his music though. The other bands are too punk sounding for me. I'm glad they have such a diverse selection of music though.

Although he's currently in the midst of prepping his latest mixtape, Joell Ortiz apparently wanted to revisit a track he randomly released last November. The prior version of "Night Train" featured the Brooklyn MC working with frequent collaborator Novel, who appears on the hook. And for the remix, Ortiz has reached out to Bun B and Tech N9ne, who, like their host, keep it relatively subdued on this smooth blue-collar anthem. It's likely that we'll be hearing this on Ortiz's forthcoming The Life And Times Of Sebastian Rios mixtape.

I was pretty disappointed with Hell: The Sequel. There were a couple of bangers (Fast Lane, Above The Law and Welcome 2 Hell) but a lot of filler and the outright terrible Lighters. Didn't rate 6s and 7s but then I've never liked Tech 9.
I'm wary of getting too hyped about Royce's album, I remember being unbelievably excited about Death Is Certain all those years ago and it was mostly poop apart from the one Premo production, Hip Hop. In fact I think it's fair to say that Royce has a very patchy record of releasing good music considering his ability.
At his best he is incredible - I would say that his verse on When Bad Meets Evil is up there with the best EVER, and he's up there with Jada in terms of dominant guest spots - but he only has a handful of memorable tracks spanning a decade or so. Hopefully the birth of Slaughterhouse and now the rebirth of Bad Meets Evil will see him reach his potential. At the moment he would go down in history to me as mainly being responsible for bringing the best out of Eminem, but he has the ability to be remembered for so much more than that.

Sad story for anyone that knows/cares.
I used to play football with a kid called Kevin Georgiou when I was about 10 or 11. Nice lad, a bit mouthy but his heart was in the right place. He was quite easily led though and hung around with a few dickheads.
Anyway, fast forward 15 years or so and I've just found out he is the semi-famous UK rapper K Koke, which is weird because I've been listening to him and quite enjoying his stuff for a good few years without ever seeing his face. But I happened upon a news story which contained a photo of him, and I instantly recognised as my old mate - a quick look on Google for his real name confirmed it was the same lad.
This was the article:
http://www.kilburntimes.co.uk/news/stonebridge_rapper_k_koke_charged_with_harlesden_s hooting_1_857558
So sad. Even sadder because he is a talented lad and had just signed a record deal with Roc Nation and would have been working with Jay-Z and other artists.
There's a strong movement suggesting that the police have fitted him up and they have no evidence to support their case, but the content of his lyrics is going to work strongly against him, it is all, and I mean almost literally ALL, about guns and violence. Which again is a shame because he is good at what he does - his rhymes are intelligently written even if the content is dubious, and he has a nice flow, with a DMX-esque delivery.

I don't know about that. Every big rap show I've been to had a shitload of artists .. Hard Knock Life (Jay-Z, DMX, Method Man & Redman, DJ Quik, and a buncha Roc-a-fella & Ruff Ryders), Up in Smoke (Dre, Snoop, Cube, Eminem, Xzibit, Warren G), Anger Management (Eminem, Ludacris, Xzibit, Obie Trice, X-Ecutioners), Roc the Mic (Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Fabolous, Obie Trice) ..

I would. This is the Kanye and Jay-Z tour for their joint album. Why would they throw in another random big name? All those tours you just mentioned were great, but are things of the past. The only thing similar nowadays is Rock The Bells.
Dubya
August 5th, 2011, 8:27 PM
Thing of the past? Those tours are all like 2-3 years apart .. making it a constant, not a thing of the past. Rappers almost always tour in groups. Granted, they don't need to since they're 2 of the biggest rappers around.. but I'd still wager that a couple more good acts end up on the tour. Kid Cudi would be nice and he has songs with both of them so it would make sense.
Stringer Bell
August 6th, 2011, 3:04 AM
I'm saying that big tours like that don't really happen anymore, due mostly to the economy. Kanye is one of the few rappers over the last few years to have big, expensive shows (and his most recent, Glow In the Dark, was awhile ago now)..
Most of those concerts you named happened nearly 10 years ago (or more in some cases)
Seriously, I wouldn't count on any one else major being added. The way they've promoted this thing (album and tour), it's all about Jay and Ye. And that's more than enough, I think.

Good album and really like 'New Day' but I wasn't blown away by the album as a whole. Think the Mr Hudson track sounds horrible, perhaps because I'm more used to hearing a version of that hook used in a track over here, but really doesn't sit well with me!
Think some of Jay-Z's contribution are excellent, and enjoyed most of his verses on the album, think Kanye was good but a pretty standard performance from him.

I wish they (Kanye especially) would have just taken their verses seriously on Lift Off, cuz it has the potential to be an amazing track. It's not awful as is, and I don't skip it, but Kanye rambling off at the end of his sentences is frustrating. That's literally my only complaint with this entire album.

the beat is pretty great, and i love beyonce so i can deal with her chorus, even if it isn't exactly the best. but yeah, neither of them fill the rest of the song with anything worth listening to. i'll likely skip it most of the time.

Lift Off has grown on me already. I don't really mind the Kanye mumbling, it reminds me of Runaway. Beat is nuts and Jay kills it with the "shit's makin my dick soft" line. It could be better, especially with some full-on 16's, but I dig it.

http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/interviews/id.1749/title.royce-da-59-acknowledges-personal-growth-trend-setting-ignoring-canibus
DX: Over the years it's fair to say that you've had your fair share of lyrical beefs - D12, Mistah F.A.B, Joe Budden, and more recently Canibus, why do you think these guys come after you, and do you think trouble follows you?
Royce Da 5’9: I don't think trouble follows me anymore. There might have been a point in my career where it felt like it did, but I think Canibus is trouble. He has his own problems and he's angry. He's more angry with me than I am with him. He does these things out of nowhere. For the record, I never went back and forth on a record with Canibus. I said what I wanted to say about him, and then there was a long gap in time. Now here he comes with all these records consecutively expecting me to respond to them, but I didn't respond to any of them. I'd roast him if I felt like it. It would only take 50-100 bars to wreck his whole movement. I'm trying to keep away from doing that. When I ignore Canibus, I'm just trying to treat him with the respect that he deserves for being a legend in the game. If I had to give him any advice it would be to just stay away from me. This is not what he wants.
DX: Many fans claim that your style is one that inspires confidence, and maybe the way you spit sometimes confuses people in to thinking that you're dissin' them. You even cleared up the fact you weren't dissin' Drake on your “Forever” freestyle on the Bar Exam 3 mixtape. Would you agree?
Royce Da 5’9: ... I've never been one of those guys. I love to see these younger guys coming up and doing their thing. I still have my same movement. I have nothing to be bitter about. So when people accuse me of that, they're thinking of the Canibuses of the world, the guys that are sat around mad at everybody because shit didn't go how they wanted it to go for themselves.

Here's my take on WTT:
Yes, it's overly braggadocio and I can see why a lot of people are turned off by that. Personally though, when it's done this well, I don't mind, and that's always been my take. Jay-Z has always had songs with this content. Take for example the first verse off Parkin Lot Pimpin from The Dynasty (one of my favorites albums of his btw, very underrated). It's got about the same subject matter as WTT - in this case he talks about his collection of Bentleys, Porches, Benz's, and Jaguars and how he fucks chicks in them - but he's such a master with his flow that it's still completely enjoyable:
Parking Lot Pimpin' - Jay-Z - YouTube
I'm givin 'em whiplash when I'm whippin the whip fast
Which one? Pick one nigga, I got a sick stash
Continental T's, no tints like I got a thick 'stache
Big cigar, old money, when I drive it it's so funny
Six-four switches, slam doors on 6's
Big trucks when I wanna fuck and it's time to get ass
I turn automobiles to hotels on wheels
I got money for a room it's just the fact that I'm trill
Bitches love when I cruise up the boulevard
They have contests to guess which car I'mma pull out the yard
They know I, come for dolo and pull off with a broad
Spin away, spend a day tryin to pull menage
This mackin is gorgeous; sunlight hit the ice it's flawless
Run lights like I'm the king of New York, I'm lawless
Bitches, they wanna hang like plaques in the office
Cause I push black Porsches, Benz's and Jaguars-es
When the rag's off it, gat on my lap, I'm that cautious
Never trust grimy-ass New Yorkers
'Specially when you're sittin on 20's they get nauseous
Standin in the Azure with white Air Forces
Now, I think most rap fans won't scoff at a song like this as long it's done well and it's in the minority on an album. Nobody minds Biggie's braggadocio rhymes on Hypnotize but then again it was sandwiched between Someone's Gotta Die and Kick in the Door - and it's a hot track. Looking back at Jay's discography, I think you see luxury rap gradually taking up a bigger part of his albums. On Reasonable Doubt, it's hard to find at all. In the middle of his career it maybe made up 20-40% depending on the album. Then on Kingdom Come it made up the majority and that album also sucked in general, so he reacted the right way by making another nearly completely street album in American Gangster.
WTT, I'd say, goes about 70/30 in favor of the swag talk - Kingdom Come levels - and this is what's causing some poor responses. The difference to me, though, is that WTT is also one of the best produced albums in recent memory. Kanye is on his fucking game right now behind the boards. Since last year when he started GOOD Fridays he's been a complete beast, and WTT sounds so damn good. Lyrically, while a lot of the content may be unrelatable and unappealing, it's still very crisp with a lot of great wordplay and gems mixed in. On a technical level, I think it's a very strong album.
So I guess what I'm saying is, I love it but I do understand why it's flawed.

i get that some people are turned off by the luxury aspect of WTT, but to be honest, a lot of Reasonable Doubt isn't relatable to a a lot of people, as well. i listen to rap for the stories and the wordplay, and yeah, hearing jay and kanye rap about their expensive hobbies or possessions might night be as interesting as deal in the drug game or stick up's, it's still a story that's told really well, over some damn fine production.
i especially can't really be all too mad when i'm well aware that both the guys aren't shallow as fuck knobheads. you got a lot of brand name drops that most people don't even know right next to a song like 'new day,' which is about as deep as you get, beyond any genre. then you have songs like 'success' off of american gangster, where jay is torn and realizes the gaudy life is a boring life after awhile. or a good portion of MBDTF, which is filled with a lot of introspection, like a lot of kanye's early work, and i just can't hold it against them.

Yeah, Cudi was embarrassing. How can you hate on Nardwuar? His interviews are the best. Anyone without knowledge, his stuff with Snoop Dogg is a good starting point.

Jay Rock is talented, but for me, I run into the same problem I do with a lot of Game's recent stuff. The abundance of all the gang stuff is just overkill. Flipping it in a creative manner or using it as one aspect of your persona is one thing (guys like Kurupt do this well), but I just feel like all of that glorification is overkill and sending the complete wrong message.
I mean, this is coming from a guy who loves the most ridiculous, vulgar rap and was just in here speaking on the greatness of Waka Flocka, but I just can't rock with a lot of that shit personally.
Like, as much of a monster of a song as "Red Nation" is, I just can't vibe with it.. I just feel like it's all such dated bullshit, sure gangs are still present but they stopped being "cool" a long fucking time ago..
Don't get me wrong though, Jay Rock is a great emcee.. I love his stuff with Kendrick Lamar

This Is Our Science, out Sept. 13. Dude puts on the most energetic and awesome show I have ever seen. Awesome guy too, the first time I went to one of his shows he wanted to ask me a bunch of questions about sports writing. Highly recommend the $15 or whatever the low cost is if he plays in your area.
Also, my girlfriend wants to bone him. So that's awesome lol.
Ordered the super nice package

I like the Jay Rock cd, but it did remind of The Game's music a lot too.. not really for the sam reason though. There's just no real flash to it or anything. Just heavy beats and hard rhymes. Its good, but nothing really grabs you to make you wanna listen over and over. "Hood Gone Love It" is definitely the catchiest song on the cd. Its too bad "all my life" is like 2-3 years old cuz its still the most banging song on the cd.

Carter 4 is out...
I listened to the Outro first. Nas kills it.
Rest of the album is pretty average so far.
Andre 3000 unadvertised guest spot on the Tech N9Ne interlude.. awesome. Best moment of the album so far. Someone needs to mix the Wayne/Tech/Andre 3000/Bun B/Nas/Busta parts ASAP (leave Shyne out of it)

6 tracks into C4. it's ok up to now but there are way too many big sean punchlines. It think he's made a "life is a..." "we bloods like..." punchline once on every fucking song. A song like Megaman is pretty good but just as you're feeling it he comes with some corny ass eminem level shit. When I heard "have it your way... burger king" I contemplated deleting the whole album.
Heard the guest tracks kill it though so lets see.
He ran through every one of his overused punchlines one by one on the last verse of president carter. SMH

nas and bun killed the outro. Shyne had a good verse though his voice was really jarring, him and Lloyd Banks need to get that checked out.
