STOP and THINK and CONSIDER,
Poetlauete8 - account showed up and hit Royce up first. Royce claimed the account only knew inside info.
Ok, if true on inside info. It has to be Royce, Bis, or someone connected to them. Why would Bis go at Royce or whoever that way? It's not like him, if he wants it said, he says it to them and has Bis ever been active on twitter? No, only to show it's not him. Canibus has said that account isn't him. Isn't this enough for everyone?
Now see, here's how I imagine Royce went about it....Royce says to other ppl (Buddens, Ras, Crooked, Ortiz, etc..) that the account has to be Canibus, because it knew inside info. and says Canibus is trying to play games. They foolishly and money blindly say ok must be true.
Canibus has said the account isn't him. See, they trying to play Bis like he's the instigator. THE REAL FUCKING JOKE? Why does Ras and Crooked I continue to entertain this fake ass account when they have been told the account is fake? These dudes twittering on their phones or some shit, but they dont dial numbers anymore?
I said I would leave CC forever, but this is disgusting to me. I am nobody, but fuck no, Canibus aint gonna get played like that. This is like some modern day Def Jam ban....but what the fuck Ras? Wasn't it rumored that while Ras was in jail Bis visited him, fuck even if it was rumor, Ras has let the devil get him. And sure he can say it's not my battle, but why continue to entertain the fucking fake account?
With twitter giving any info.... Twitter wont. They wouldnt even give the info when the shit with wikileaks was going down. Well they at least let the dude and chick know what was taking place. They pride themselves on privacy.....Well.............. hmmmmmmmmmmmm................ Crooked I could claim that one twitter post was a threat and get the police to get subpoena for the accounts records and voila, they would all see it's not coming from Bis. But that's a stretch and it wont happen, cuz they all know it's not Bis by now..fucking clowns.
This shit is disgusting. Shady Records trying to be Def Jam.
Ok, I am done with this for good. It just sucks when my boy gets played like this. It's happened his entire career.
Everyone wants to forget the Crooked I and Royce Twitter comments from months ago that were entirely needless. Oh yeah, they can start shit but when a response comes.... must be Bis' fault. Those jackholes are still beefing with a fake Canibus Twitter account. Ras made an ass of himself tonight.
Bert
May 8th, 2011, 11:48 PM
Like Ras said we don't know everything we only know about the stuff talked about on twitter.
Well, and Canibitch's songs, which aren't biased at all.
I just find it hard to believe that Slaughterhouse is solely to blame for this shit.
Why would they start a beef with a guy who isn't even relevant? That makes no sense.
Morrison

Royce, four studio albums. Ortiz, two I think. Budden, two. And Crooked I, the famous ZERO. Canibus.... 11 solo albums once July rolls around.
Canibus consistently puts out good product and has gotten better with age. The PL Infinity project is something no one is touching. No one else has provided their fans infinite rhymes. He is the most fan-friendly hip hop artist around right now. Not even sure many people understand how he is taking hip hop into the future. Just saying.
All you need to do is look at all the different mixes that have been made out of five 11-minute PLOO tracks. And the best is yet to come. 10,000 bars of PLOO.

Canibus is cool, I bought his Mic Club and Rip the Jacker albums and bumped those shits for a while, and good on him for all the shit he puts out for his fans. But if I had to listen to 10,000 bars of his I'd probably shoot myself. Switch up your flow son. I'm also gonna go out on a limb here and say that he hasn't provided infinite rhymes.
Anyway, how upsetting is it that hip hop beef now involves discussions of twitter accounts? That post you just quoted didn't make me side with Bis, it just made me disappointed that this is what we've come to. I'll let you figure out who's twitter comments are legit and who tweeted first and I'll just listen to the diss records, thanks.

No one cares about Canibus. You are dreaming if you think Royce (or any of the Slaughterhouse mob) would waste their time with him. If you could remove your tongue from his arsehole for just one second you would see how ludicrous your zealotry is making you look.
Bert
May 9th, 2011, 10:47 AM
Thanks Simon, that's what I've been trying to say.
Why would Royce or someone from Slaughterhouse make a fake twitter account to start a beef with a guy that no one but his die hard fans even care about?
That's what I meant by it doesn't make sense because he's not relevant.
If they just wanted to start a beef for publicity I would think they would have picked someone way higher on the food chain.
It's not like they even need publicity now that they're signed to Shady, anyway.
And if it's not publicity what possible reason would someone have to use a fake twitter account to start a beef?
Fro

Soon, fans of the Bad Meets Evil duo will be able to feed their need for relentless rhyming from Royce and Eminem together when the 9-song EP, Hell: The Sequel, arrives in stores and online June 14th.

That's 3 more songs then I thought we were getting (I was going by the Slaughterhouse EP being 6 songs). And Echo and Living Proof won't be on the EP either. So, after Fast Lane there's still 8 more tracks to hear.

All this nonsense about Common is seriously ridiculous.
Watching rich white people that have never heard Common in their lives and had no idea who he was until yesterday.. sit there and disect his music like they have the slightest clue what he's talking about.

I just found it rather ridiculous that the whole song was about killing and shooting people, when one of their closest friends was killed violently. Sure, there has always been that element in their music, but I would think at this point (they are indeed pretty old, Simon), they'd have some other messages to get across. I guess not, apparently.
Elzhi's Elmatic dropped last week and I'm kinda shocked I haven't heard a peep about it around here. It's a remarkable tribute to Illmatic (obviously), really well done with live instrumentation, fresh new lyrics, and the works. Can't recommend this enough: http://hulkshare.com/0hibtwqcoetn
Also, The Weeknd has been getting a whole lot of spins from me. The comparison is becoming cliche at this point, but think Frank Ocean mixed with Drake.

Odd Future started a riot in Boston after a CD signing last week when they got on the roof of Newbury Comics and started inciting the crowd. Those crazy kids.
My thoughts on Goblin after a week: it's good but it's kind of hard to listen to all the way through in one sitting because it can get a little dull at times. Lyrical content-wise the comparisons to Eminem are pretty apt.

I agree. I like most of his beats, his style, and his persona (from what I've seen), but I feel like he may be trying a bit too hard to be controversial, much in the same way I felt Eminem did when he started.
Their show last night in Detroit was stopped after fans threw glass bottles at them on stage. Throwing them was wrong, but it seems strangely ok at an Odd Future show.

Yeah, Goblin is pretty damn disappointing overall. Some absolutely fantastic tracks ("Yonkers" and "Sandwitches" are perhaps the two best songs though and we already had both of them). "Burger" is a great bonus too. It's really overlong though, feels more like the beginnings of cool songs than actual fully resolved ones, and some of the lyrics are a little cringeworthy. I look forward to future releases though, especially when he's older, more refined and EARL is allowed to participate. EARL & Tyler, with some of Frank Ocean's flavour and the occasional Hodgy Beats verse. Yes please.
Lots of comparisons to the Marshall Mathers LP of course, but it's not nearly at that level. As a collective they don't come close to Wu-Tang's early days either.
Morrison
May 17th, 2011, 7:32 PM
as somebody who didn't follow odd future at all and only started listening because of the hype surrounding this record, i don't find it disappointing at all. goblin is a fun listen that's in line with how he seems to want to start and end his albums, then you got yonkers which is obviously a beast of a track, i'm one of the people that really love radicals, she is a good song with a great frank ocean hook, i fucking adore transylvania, tron cat and sandwitches are both awesome. i do tend to lose a bit of interest toward the end of the album, but all the bonus tracks are great, so i tend to get right back into it. i find myself liking it more with each listen.

I am warming up slightly to Odd Future, but I still think they have some shitty attitudes. To be 20 years old and think you have the God opinion on what makes good hip hop, yeah ok. For example, I am not a huge fan of Lil B either but the dude is smart and knows how to sell records and market himself. Odd Future is just as much an image as Lil B, so get off your fucking high horse. I guess I am mostly talking about Tyler here.
On more of a me-note, Canibus is so classy to his fans. One of the C-C cats had made a Poet Laureate Infinity mix a while back which starts at the 4-minute mark on the title below. So what does Bis do? Rips it for another two minutes on the same beat. Some of the nicest lyrics I've heard from him in a minute. Hopefully this is a nice peak into what Lyrical Law has to offer.

Out here trying to promote this album
Examine the translation; but what's the situation?
I thought Hip Hop was the language of many nations
A chance at exploration not exploitation
We goin' in big circles on some run away slave shit
I thwarted the attack, but you don't see it like that
Just like you don't see how many verses came outta that track
I grab the mic off the mic stand with my Hellboy hand
Then I proceed to battle Hell boy's man
My father was bitten by a poisonous snake in Guyana
He was treated by Birmingham's doctor
That's where I learned to play soccer
The sun burning hotter outside watching Rap City with the Rasta
Grateful and relieved about what has been achieved
Not scornful with desires and unabated greed
Even the uneducated seed can agree
That modern day emcees is not like they used to be
I still get busy usually, not in front of everybody
Just you and me, I'll show you how it used to be
I seeded the planet, Canibus evolution advancement
In infinite commandment, what's the advantage?
There is none, open your mind, seek out the sun
In the background you see a Brown Dwarf on the drums
Maharaji, my head Yogi told me
I "am not alone not matter how lonely, so walk boldly"
Purpose is removed, then sacrifice ignored
Hip Hop is restored through Lyrical Law
We never been regular rappers, see the names on the nebula ballad
Special, lyrical, RTJ tactics
He claimed that he'd written the greatest rhyme of all time
And NOW is the time to take it out the archives
The Adamic Race was created by those who landed from space
Atlantis was only one planetary base
Appalachia, Terrania, Palencia, Oceania

When asked about the HRSMN, Ras Kass instantly began talking about the alleged feud between them and Slaughterhouse, another group made up from 4 different emcees. The feud was given some fuel via Twitter and it even lent itself to a Canibus diss track (http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/news/id.14986/title.canibus-goes-at-joe-budden-royce-da-59-on-diss-track).
"It's a beautiful thing. Honestly, I would say we're about 60 percent done with the HRSMN," he said when asked about the group. "The HRSMN are intact. There's nothing but love for everybody else. Some things are dirty laundry. I was always taught not to air my dirty laundry. Unfortunately, Twitter and Facebook are ways where laundry that shouldn't be [where this] gets aired. But then we gotta close house and deal with this dirty laundry."
"HRSMN are HRSMN. Slaughterhouse is Slaughterhouse," he continued. "There's a lot of interconnected family. There's nothing but love. There was some things where people see things and it's a non issue. I won't address it anymore past that. There is family and we are going to continue to respect each other as family."
Going back to their Twitter feud, Ras explained that they want to continue moving forward without any problems with other emcees.
"We full speed ahead. Sometimes, we've got to sit back and analyze what's going on because people like drama. They want something against something...I can have love for my nigga but sometimes these social media things can create things that don't really exist and sometimes you can get wrapped up in it."
"The Horsemen, we had to go take some inventory, sit in a house and say, 'Hey, man, what's going on? Let's be right about shit. We goin' to work and just make sure we doin' what we're supposed to be doin', never disrespecting. We don't want to be disrespectful to anybody and I don't think anybody wants to be disrespectful to us.' There's room for everybody out here. We're all talented. Much success to everybody. We gettin' ours together and it's coming out incredible."

This Is Our Science, out Sept. 13. Dude puts on the most energetic and awesome show I have ever seen. Awesome guy too, the first time I went to one of his shows he wanted to ask me a bunch of questions about sports writing. Highly recommend the $15 or whatever the low cost is if he plays in your area.
Also, my girlfriend wants to bone him. So that's awesome lol.

Woah. Didn't see this coming.
He also has a duet with Odd Future front man Tyler, The Creator on a track called "Martians vs. Goblins." "Oh yeah, Tyler [The Creator] is on the album. I forgot about him. He ain’t really doing features for nobody. He feels like fuck everything and I don’t blame him either," he explained. "It’s a California thing, and I got respect for him and his hustle and what they’re doing and just being kids and being rebels for the cause. And he respects me for doing what I did for California and the West Coast, I guess. I met him at a Diddy concert and we chopped it up and we got a song called ‘Martians vs Goblins.’ It’s dope.”

Tech has so much talent. It's a shame he wastes it trying to get commercial love. Everything Everready and past is mainstream sounding trash for the most part. That Fat Joe song is quality by the way. Seems like a lot of guys are taking a similar approach to what Raekwon has done lately, and leave all the poppy/radio attempt bullshit at home and just come back with hard, quality music. Rae has done it twice now with little promo and great results. He's more credible than ever..
Just saw this interview with Meth that has me optimistic for his next project. They don't actually talk about the new album til the very end, but I like the sounds of darker, 1st and 2nd album sounding stuff. Hopefully RZA is involved.

Bizarre comments from DVDA.
The new Nas track is terrific.
Pitchfork actually posts something about Hip-Hop that I agree with:
Nas can do this. It's easy to forget sometimes. For the past decade and a half, few rappers have had more frustrating careers, and the Queensbridge legend's predilections for zero-character beats, nonsensical collaborations, half-baked concepts, and empty-calorie sloganeering have worked, time and again, to undermine his vast reserves of pure rap talent. But every once in a while, he crackles back to life in a very serious way, his stone-faced tough-talk speeding through rock-hard beats with a Rutger-Hauer-in-The-Hitcher intensity. Think "Thief's Theme", or "Nazareth Savage".
Or think this new one, an out-of-nowhere blast of hurtling vocabulary that never pauses long enough for a chorus to find its way in. Nas starts out in monster form: "Late-night candlelight fiend with diesel in his needle/ Queensbridge leader, no equal/ I come from the will of Ezekiel/ To pop thousand-dollar bottles of Scotch, smoke pot, and heal the people." Then, for the next three minutes, he stays there, proudly displaying how he can still handle just about any rapper on earth bar-for-bar. Salaam Remi's beat is fast and minimal, and it keeps him sticking and moving. For a few bars, it drops out entirely, and Nas keeps going like he doesn't notice. It makes sense; he's in a zone. Imagine if it was always this way.

He needs to use more mainstream beats. Apparantly he's got Swizz Beatz, Dr. Dre and Kanye West lined up as possible producers so I'm expecting something amazing.
Simon
June 16th, 2011, 9:47 AM
God no. There's enough fucking Swizz Beats, Dre and Kanye around. IMO Nas doesn't suit the commercial style of someone like Dre, he's better on a laid-back, smoother groove OR a raw, "real" hip-hop sound,
He should be hitting up Premo and Large Professor for some classy stuff and come back with a KILLER album. Those two are responsible for most of his best beats - Halftime, You're Da Man, One Time 4 Ya Mind, It Ain't Hard To Tell, NY State Of Mind, Nas Is Like, Represent, I Gave You Power...add a couple of Remi and Alchemist tracks in the mix and you could have a great album.
Fro
June 16th, 2011, 10:24 AM
Either way he just needs to pick good beats, which has been somewhat of an issue for him throughout his career. Salaam Remi and L.E.S. are his go-to guys then he needs to fill it out with whoever.
Agreed on not particularly wanting Swizz Beatz or Dre on there. Kanye I'd be happy with though - Let There Be Light is one of my favorite Nas songs, so classic.
Obviously Premo would be amazing. They really need to reconnect.

Simon: pretty much one site will take care of you.. nahright.com. Aside from some silly politics with artists like Lupe and Odd Future (they don't post music from either), that's by far my go-to spot for new rap. Most other sites simply repost content that came from Nah Right or one of their associates..
DVDA: Do you know for a fact that Tech "paid" for those guest appearances? I don't really follow his stuff enough to know, but he was getting more attention than ever over the last couple years (features in XXL, Source, etc.).. maybe collaborations with people like Wayne were simply born out of a mutual respect? I dunno. Stuff like B.o.B does seem weird. But, when you've got Royce Da 5'9" in 2011, working with someone like Bruno Mars, stuff like that just doesn't surprise me anymore. You gotta give him props for having that hustler's mentality and wanting to expand his business.

#24 Canadian Albums

Tech is a leech. He has no problem charging 10,000-20,000 for an 8 bar feature, but gets pissed when people do the same shit to him. Prozak and Brotha Lynch are the only people that still live up to the Strange name. Grave Plott was wack, but they fit the Strange theme

Ringo, believe it or not, Amnesia is actually from 2009. I'm just hearing Her Favorite Colour in full this year, and I really love it.
If I were to kick out a list, I can tell you that the new CyHi The Prynce Royal Flush 2 mixtape would definitely be on there. I'm so impressed with this tape. The first Royal Flush was pretty disappointing to me, but this is like a completely different project. Almost every track is quality.
Can't forget Pusha T's Fear of God and the Curren$y/Alchemist project. Random Axe is getting a lot of spins from me lately, too. So much good music this year.
I've been in love with this track right here. I don't really know much at all about the artists, I don't think they are even considered hip-hop, but this track right here sounds like somebody pulled it straight from Kanye's archives circa 2004. So catchy.

 That's not even remotely true. If his success is relative to their success, he wouldn't be doing interviews on MTV cuz MTV doesn't give a fuck about Psychopathic Records.. plus he hasn't really done anything with them in a few years now.. at least not on his own albums. I can't speak for their albums cuz I don't listen to them.. but if he's on their albums and they're not on his.. it sounds like they want him more than he wants them. He gets paid to be on their cds. Indie rappers need to be paid and any exposure is good exposure.. so you're saying he's guilty of using another rapper's platform to further himself .. HOLY SHIT ALERT THE PRESSES .. every rapper in the world is guilty of that. Every. single. one.
He owes most of his success to no one but himself. There are very few.. if any.. rappers that tour as much as he does. Tech N9ne is on the road all year long doing shows. All year. All over the world, not the country.. the world. He doesn't sell millions of records at all, but his label was just valued at around $20 million .. which for a young indie label, fueled almost entirely by his own albums and ticket sales .. is pretty good. The dude is a relentless promoter and promotes the hell out of himself and his label. If there is a Strange Music album dropping in the next month, you can't drive anywhere in KC without knowing it. It sounds stupid and cliche, but when he says he's not going maisntream, the mainstream is going Tech .. it really is pretty accurate. He's also supposed to be on Tha Carter IV, which is probably the biggest platform he's ever been given.. so there's a chance this small taste of the spotlight he's seeing right now could stick around and get bigger. I hope it does. The dude really does deserve it.
Nobody except horrorcore kids knew who Tech was before he was featured on The Green Book along with other multiple Psy and Subnoize albums, playing the GotJ multiple times and going on multiple tours with Psy and Subnoize. If All 6's & 7's can't make top 3 on the top 200 nothing he releases will. Strange is trash in general excluding Brotha Lynch.
That's incredibely wrong as well.. Anghellic and Absolute Power were both released before that. They sold around 600,000 copies combined.. a lot of people knew who he was before then.. a lot more than just "horrorcore kids" .. and Brotha Lynch is hardly the only good artist on Stange Music. Yukmouth, Big Scoob and Jay Rock are where its at.. Krizz Kaliko & Kutt Calhoun aren't that bad either.
DVDA really overstates the importance of Psy, and it's fans in the rap industry.
He really and truly does. That's not even a knock at him or them.. its just the truth.

Not to mention, those are still his 2 best-selling albums.. well maybe not after 6's & 7's is done, but right now.. they're still his 2 best-selling albums and they were before he started doing the few things he did with Psychopathic.. which would actually indicate a downturn in sales once he started working with them.
Tech's been around for a long time and people have known about him.. he just hasn't always really been a lot of people's cup of tea. Its not like he's really just now exploding or anything though .. his last 5 albums have all debuted in the top 20 .. and 2-3 before that debuted in the top 50. That's pretty good for an indie rapper thats pretty much consistently been outside of the mainstream for his whole career.
I really think he should release that song with the Deftones to rock radio at some point in this album's cycle. It has a smooth flow to it and a good chorus.. I think it could do well on alternative radio, which would broaden his audience even more.

What's up with all the weed on the Kendrick Lamar album? Doesn't he have a lot of songs where he talks about how he doesn't smoke? I've read it in interviews too. I mean, sure, maybe things changed, but it just seems kind of like he's pandering to that demographic when it's not something true to him. Which, leads me to a whole different thing involving him that I won't attempt to touch on right now. Basically he just confuses me. Kind of similar to the whole Saigon thing early on where you couldn't tell if he wanted to save the world or kill it by thugging it to death. Similar stuff with Kendrick. I do like him a lot though. I think his buzz is going to hurt him though, these new guys keep getting hyped up as the second comings before they even get a chance to drop a project, and it keeps backfiring..

Who specifically? Obviously Wale, and people are talking about J. Cole going the same way, but his debut isn't even out yet. There's definitely a danger of that happening though. Jay Electronica too.
The Cool Kids are a good example. They weren't touted as the saviors or anything, but they had an explosive buzz so early in their movement, and are just now getting a chance to put out an album, at a time where unfortunately it seems like a lot of people aren't as interested.
Definitely Wale. As much as I like him, he's never come close to matching the hype he came in with. With J. Cole, it's definitely hurting him because it seems people have put a lot of stock into him and he couldn't even get his record out before Big Sean (not necessarily his fault, but still). Same with Jay Electronica, although for some reason there seems to be this sense of forgiveness with a lot of critics/fans when it comes to him. Like they just don't mind waiting. I dunno.
Odd Future would be the opposite. By the time the hype came, a lot of material was already there, and then an album (with more coming) followed almost immediately after the buzz began. Now they're riding that shit for all it's worth and are by far the biggest act of the year, probably the last few years..
Then there's someone like Curren$y, who has steadily built a pretty huge following, all organically, pretty much by himself and with friends. No magazines or blogs ever said he was the Nas to Drake's Jay-Z, or said he was the next _________. With him, the music speaks for itself. And there's a whole lot of it.
Of course, the artists can't be fully blamed.. being independent is a huge advantage
I will say it seems like Kendrick was pretty prompt with this release. His buzz hasn't quite peaked yet, and this is pretty much perfect timing to get an actual album out. I just think some of the hype is a bit strong. I think people like him because he's unique moreso than actually great. Just my opinion though. Definitely looking forward to the album.

Strange Music Releases Official Statement On Reno, Nevada Shooting
Strange Music provided HipHopDX with the following official statement: "Earlier this morning in the city of Reno, Nevada an unfortunate incident took place involving a performer with an opening act on Tech N9ne’s current U.S. Tour. Nearly two hours after the show had ended, it appears that this performer was the victim of a random and senseless act of violence on a nearby city street adjacent to the club where he had performed hours earlier. By all reports, the victim was talking on his phone when he was approached by six individuals who had not been in attendance at that evening’s show. Shortly after, shots were fired and the victim was struck multiple times. He was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in serious condition but is expected to recover. Not long after the incident took place, four suspects who had fled the scene on foot were detained and taken into custody by local law enforcement, including what appears to be the main suspect and shooter in the incident. No other info has been made available at the time of releasing this statement.
